At just twenty years old, Lauren Bailey is organized, responsible, and hyper-driven toward her goal of graduating college so she can provide a good life for her daughter, four year old Harper. Between school, work, and being the best long-distance mom she can be, there’s one thing she definitely doesn’t have time for: Trouble. Trouble, meaning men. She’s watched her older sister go through a Lifetime movie’s worth of drama involving the opposite sex, and she’s not interested in that level of distraction. Until Ty. Smart, sexy, and successfully navigating the line between responsible and fun, Ty opens Lauren’s mind to a world beyond the strict walls she’s built. But stepping out sometimes means losing control, and straight-laced Lauren may not be ready for that. Ex-lovers, meddling mothers, and new experiences collide as Lauren takes a journey to figure out if there’s any such thing as the “right” kind of trouble.
I loved how mature this couple was….I also enjoyed the growth…because when Lauren was unsure about something, she was honest enough to say that and would ask for help…I also appreciated the way Ty handled his worrisome mother and crazy ex-girlfriend. This couple was really good for one another and I love the small interaction we were able to see of Ty and Harper…Great Story
The second read was the newly released audiobook narrated by Nate Strong & Madison C. Marie…Nate always does a really good job….I was pleasantly surprised by Madison’s narration this time.
Note to self: Don’t start reading a Christina Jones book when you have things that need to get done, cause it ain’t gonna happen! I started reading this book and didn’t want to put it down!!! It was just that good!
I really liked Lauren after meeting her in The Trouble With Us. At that time, I hoped that she and Mekhi would work things out and get back together, and at times, I kinda felt that way in this book. But Ty was such good people, and as the story progressed, I knew he was just the man that Lauren needed. And vice versa.
Harper was THEE most adorable little girl E V E R! When she was telling Lauren about Puppy pissing on the furniture, I just about lost it! I absolutely loved how Lauren and Mekhi’s parents supported them, so that they could do pursue their goals, which benefits Harper in the long run. And how Lauren and Mekhi worked together for the good of Harper. If only we could see more of this kind of cooperation and support in real life. Loved that whole fight between Lauren and Mekhi’s mom. So authentic. I would have done the exact same thing. Even though it was crazy as hell, lol.
I’m sure I wasn’t supposed to like Jamila and Ty’s mama, but they were a hoot!!! Talking ‘bout delusional! LMAO! I liked that Lauren wasn’t afraid of them, and that Ty was upfront with her about what was going on with those two. In the scene where Jamila confronts Lauren the first time, I was pleasantly surprised that the author didn’t go with the typical scene where the unsuspecting new girlfriend is unaware of what’s going on, especially since the readers didn’t know that Ty had talked to Lauren about the Jamila situation. This is one of the things that I really enjoy about CCJ’s novels; she doesn’t go with the usual, but goes outside of the box with her characters, their situations, and their reactions to things. Keep that up, please!
Sooo much cuteness in this story! Ty and Lauren’s first two meetings. Harper meeting Ty’s mom. Mina and Austin (and Dallas, LMAO). Ty and Harper.
Another good one from Mrs. Jones. Keep ‘em coming!
Fun, realistic and just left me with a really good feeling. Life happens it doesn't mean things have to come to a complete hault because of one mistake. Love this great read
This is such a sweet and sexy fun story. This is a story of coming of age and new love. The writer manages to capture all the tense and awkward moments. There are some hilariously funny moments along with some that just make you sigh. This was such a really good read, one that you can honestly say money well spent.
CCJ has very quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her easygoing style doesn't hinder her ability to breathe life into three dimensional characters and realistic situations. What I've always loved about Christina's books is that I feel like they could be you or me or the gal next door. I can relate and commiserate and there is always a happy ending for a person that looks like me.
I was impressed with the character of Lauren. In some ways she is extremely mature and responsible... has to be, to be 20 years old with a four year old and just about to graduate college. It takes a strong person with a level head to remain friends with her child's father-- because that is what is best for that child-- and to know that said child is in good hands with her grandparents while she keeps her life on track to provide a good life for Harper.
Lauren wasn't counting on meeting older, handsome, sexy "Ty who has his stuff together". I feel like she did everything to put him off, but to his credit he stood his ground and acted like the mature, responsible man he presented himself to be. Ty was not without his issues, with an ex who wouldn't let go of a broken engagement and a mother who vies for attention at every turn... just graduating from his PhD program was enough stress. Pile on meeting a new woman who has her own thing going on just throws another cog in the wheel.
I love a character that I can hate and there are a few in this story. Ty's mom, Mehki's mom, Jamila... can ALL walk off a cliff. Ion't eem curr how mean that sounds! LOL... We know good and well that there are some women who've got some CATTY up in 'em. I love reading a book where I am sucking my teeth, frowning, talking to the pages as I turn. And Mehki, frankly, was just all kinds of WRONG all the way through. I loved every second of it.
I had the pleasure of reading this novel ahead of publication and when I tell ya'll that CCJ puts her FOOT in some books, I'm not lying. If you love black romance with a realistic tip, getchu some Christina C Jones. Her backlist is chock full of good reads.
Study...go to work..talk to Harper...study..talk to Harper..wait sleep. This was Lauren's life. A studious young woman with her head on straight. Because this was what was responsible..safe...and no trouble. But in her pursuit of excellence, she never thought trouble would wake her up..literally. Ty is just the guy to make Lauren break all the rules...even if it means a little heartbreak along the way. Because really, what's a fairy tale without some drama before the HEA?
I throughly enjoyed this book. I'm always amazed at how diverse Christina Jones can be with her story telling ability. She gets better and better with each book she puts out. The plot had a little bit of everything to keep me engaged. The flow was always natural and the pacing just right to set the tone of the story. Her innate ability to create plausible storylines and churn out unique characters always makes for a good read. Though Lauren and Ty kept me entertained, her minor characters were nothing to sneeze at. At one point I even found myself pulling for the other guy vying for Lauren's attention lol. Additionally, The conclusion was fulfilling and totally left me satisfied.
This book is part of Christina's Trouble series, but it can be read as a standalone as well. Lauren got pregnant at 16 and is the mother to a beautiful four year old girl named Harper. This book occurs during her senior year of college at age 20 because of her will to succeed. I love how the grandparents of Harper got together to support their son & daughter to give them a chance at a great future, despite their mistake of becoming teenage parents. Lauren has made it through college with starting any relationships because she didn't want that kind of trouble. When she meets Ty, she starts to think that he might be the right kind of trouble. I enjoyed this book & I could relate to it because I was a teenage mother, and with the support of my parents I went to college & obtained a successful career. This book kept me engaged with the up and downs of Ty & Lauren's relationship, the struggle of college, and their family life.
I so love Ty and Lauren's story. There was no fantasy love about their relationship. Yes, I would loved to have met Ty in college, but we all know that it wouldn't be a story if he was just an ordinary college kid. However, their romance, their struggles, their accomplishments, their drama, and everything in between was so believable, that it was hard to put the book down.
Mrs. Jones seems to struggle with writing a poorly told story. The characters in the Trouble series are my favorite because they are easy to connect with. She remains to be one of the writers that I 1-click without hesitation. I encourage you to read this series!
Lauren and Ty had an instant attraction to each other. Both serious students pursuing higher education in similar majors, but at different levels. Life is never simple. I love that Lauren is doing what she has to do -- well -- in spite of being a teen mother. She has the support of family and some freedom to be a real college student. Motherhood did not prevent Lo from accomplishing goals, it just made her mature and plan better. Lo and Ty's romance is well-written, realistic, emotionally-charged, and makes you a believer in letting love flow!
I was in a serious reading slump before this book was released. It was taking me a week just to finish a book because none of them would hold my attention. Well as always, Christina Jones fixed that problem. I have yet to find one of her books that didn't draw me in from the start and keep me wanting more. Absolutely loved Ty and Lauren and even sweet little Harper. I'm excited to see what Mrs. Jones has in store for us next.
Right Kind Such an enjoyable read! Tastefully written with well rounded characters & storyline. Ty is the man! I thought Lauren & Ty were great for each other. Once again, Christina C. Jones has written a delightful story for all to enjoy.
Lauren and Ty...really good lovestory. Daily dramas from exes, parents and self-doubt can cause major issues. Good family, friends and taken chances make love worth fighting for. Mejores. Recommend Read.
I liked this story a lot. It was great seeing the characters from Mrs. Jones previous book! I loved Ty and Lauren's journey! It was great seeing the maturity of both characters!
The right kind of trouble was exactly what I expected... Great!! Couldn't ask for a better book, but now I'm flipping through books looking for her next release date!
I loved the whole college aspect of this book. I found my true love in college, so this was refreshing to read, even with all the "trouble" that went along with it😉.
I loved Ty. Super sweet and straight forward, honest and accountable.
Being that she was so responsible and set on taking care of business when it came to her daughter and school, I knew I'd really like Lauren.
To be young and in love. I thought I was going to detest Mekhi for a little bit there, yet I understood he was just trying to make everyone happy, even if that meant sacrificing his own happiness. Noble.
That little Harper was a toot, a cute on, but a whole mess; what 4 year old isn't🤷🏾♀️🤭.
The parents in this story were way too much to handle, meddling in their grown children's lives, except for Lauren's laid back dad. Those moms though, yikes😬.
I would love to have a sister like Bianca. I can't wait to read about her and Rashad.
This was great. At this point, what does CCJ write that's NOT great. She's an excellent writer and this story is proof. Highly recommend it.
Lauren and Ty are young hardworking college students committed to getting good grades and doing the right thing. They meet at the school library and have instant chemistry. Lauren has a four year old daughter, so when it comes to success, the stakes are high. We met Lauren and her daughter Harper in the second 'Trouble' book - Bianca and Rashad's story. Lauren is an interesting and inspirational heroine. At only 21 years old, she's focused with the mindset of a much older woman. Ty is a caring, graduate student, trying to move past the personal fallout of a cheating ex-fiancé while dealing with a melodramatic mother.
This was a really good book. Lauren and Ty had a lot to deal with while trying to stoke a new romance. As always, Christina C. Jones did her thing. The lack of consistent editing (like all her books) aside, this was a well written book and well worth you time.
Having had a similar experience, this book resonated so much with me, and I was cheering Lauren on for the entirety of the story. Like real life, her journey wasn't without drama and challenges, but she preserved. Ty was a welcomed addition, even though she didn't always recognize him as such. Overall, this was a pretty easy read with likeable characters who made you want to cheer them on. What CCJ does well is write timeless storylines because I was shocked to see that this book was originally published almost 10 years ago. Every part of it was still as relevant today. There were several typos and editing areas for improvement, but I still enjoyed the read. I do wish the epilouge showed them a little further in the future with more things accomplished.
Foremost, I enjoyed getting to know each couple in their respective book and generally reading the trouble series. However, although books two & three were my favorites from the series. Lauren & Ty were the more memorable couple with relatable personal, academia, career & or romantic relationship struggles & goals to contend and navigate through. Nevertheless, “The Right Kind of Trouble - Book 3 of 3” was an excellent read with self imposed & self sabotaging drama (some more than others 🤭🤷🏾♀️) but it’s a necessary evil with matriculation & maturity🥴….(hopefully you’ll reap the rewards & laugh 😆 about the adventure on the other side of through‼️) …perseverance mitigates regret, like with the Bailey/Sinclair crew’s journey to HEA🥰‼️
I really enjoyed this story of single mom and college student, Lauren and older, responsible stand up but Ty. Lauren is doing all the right things to prepare for her and her daughter's future and that includes swearing off all boys. Until she meets a man who "smells like books" and reminds her that she can be a good student and mother and also enjoy time with a boyfriend. Ty is just as committed to his studies as Lauren but he's surely looking forward to getting to know her. If only he can get pass the pain from his previous relationship and the pressure of his overbearing mother. Great story and message about single parenting.
Ty and Lauren were both in college when they met in the library. I liked the characters. They were very mature for their ages and I know that is not an anomaly but it's rarely seen in books. Both characters were believable, both were dealing with exes that wanted another chance. I'm glad that Lo, was fiery and not a pushover when it came to him, his ex,and his momma. Ty was carrying, sweet, and patient.....exactly what she needed. I wish that the book had fast forwarded to them being older, with jobs, just to see how the relationship fared that way, but it was all good.
This book was definitely reality for many if they experienced teen parenthood!!!...I loved the relationship btwn Bianca and Lauren!!!...I was so heated at how Mekhi's mom spk to Lauren!!!...She thought highly of her son, but so little of Lauren!!!... Ty and Lauren was the cutest and I loved the interaction btwn Harper and Ty too!!!... This was definitely a well written book!!!...The progression of Lauren & Ty felt so real!!!...
