Amal

“Did you really think you could run from me, Little Virgin?”

I betrayed the only man who ever made me feel safe.

I stole from him and ran.

For three months, I managed to stay gone.

Until the cathedral doors crash open and he comes to make good on an old promise.

"I’ll marry you myself before I let any other man touch you."

Now, I belong to Jet Blackstone, a man they call The Devil.

But Jet doesn’t know the real reason I ran. And he can’t ever find out.

Jet

I would have done anything for Amal. I’d have given her the f’ing world. All she had to do was ask.

Instead, she betrayed me.

Stole the one thing I should have destroyed a decade ago and disappeared.

She crossed an ocean.

I followed.

And when I found her, I bound her to me in the only way I knew how.

I made her my wife.

But before I can take my bride home, we’re attacked, and the past I thought I'd buried comes raging back.

Bloodlines matter to The Society.

They don’t forget. And they definitely don’t forgive.

Now they’ve come for what’s mine.

But I’ll burn their entire world down before I let them take her.

Amal. My wife. The only person who has ever felt like home.

I have been eagerly anticipating Jet's book for what feels like forever. He captured my attention as a secondary character in The Villain & The Pawn. And while this book is the complete romance for Jet and Amal's story, you definitely should Cassian and Allegra's story in The Villain & The Pawn to truly appreciate this story. This is a continuing story arc for Jet, so you will appreciate it much more if you read the duet first.

Now as for this book, if there's one thing that I will inhale no matter how many times I read it, it's Natasha's forced marriage trope. It just hits every time. And this book was certainly no different. I definitely inhaled it.
First of all,” I cut her off because did she just fucking say that? “No one else will ever touch you because if they try, I will kill them.”
She looks up at me, clearly surprised by my tone. “It’s not like–”
“I will kill them. Understand?”
“Yeah. Fine. Don’t be crazy.”

But it just didn't hit as good as the previous two books in this series. If you're a reader that enjoys the insta trope, you won't bat an eye at this. But as someone that prefers tension and a good burn, this one just didn't hit as hard. Jet and Amal's connection felt too instant for me to fully appreciate it, considering their individual circumstances with Amal being the daughter of the man who betrayed Jet's half brother and almost killed Jet. I suppose that given their age gap and dynamics, I let my expectations get the best of me and wanted more of that sizzling tension that Natasha's books usually have.

The story itself was interesting and quick paced, but it also was missing something for me that I can't quite put my finger on. There were a few inconsistencies that made it feel rushed. Like there's a scene that's being staged as an accidental fire, but someone is killed by having their throat slit before setting the fire. This book takes place four years after the events of The Pawn, and the pacing felt almost too fast for me to fully connect to it. Amal's story line didn't quite click for me either, and I never fully connected for the reason she did some of the things that she did. Particularly for why Jet chases her.

Now all that aside, I did still enjoy the story and it brought a satisfying conclusion to two characters who I was immensely invested in from the duet. It also sets up Jet's brother's story that I already can't wait for. I would definitely recommend it for any Natasha Knight fan and especially if you loved The Villain and The Pawn. Now I can't wait for Sev's book, which I'm hoping will be next!

I'm adding this to my DNF pile for now. I didn't realize that this couldn't be read as a stand alone, so I will read the other books in the series and then come back to this.

A few things to say about this book ... it has a lot of potential. There is a bunch of mystery going on, and I really like the MMC, Jet. Amal, however, the FMC, is about as boring as a wet dish rag. Not a fan.

As mentioned, will update this review when I've read the entire series to actually understand what the heck is going on.

I thought I kind of knew what I was getting into… but this was completely unexpected!
The Devil by Natasha Knight was deliciously good. Mysterious, dark, and full of secrets—it’s got everything a true dark romance lover could ever want, especially with that intense secret society backdrop.
The chemistry between Jet and Amal? SO. HOT. 🔥 I absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Jet’s desire, his fierce protectiveness, and his total, undeniable obsession with Amal. He is the ultimate dark romance MMC.
This book was wild, intense, suspenseful, and so addictive that you'll find yourself flipping through the pages at lightning speed. Consider me fully obsessed!

Amal Lombardi was once “under the protection” of Cassian Trevino but she ran knowing she was never truly safe. Jethro “Jet” Blackstone is the right hand of him and always watched little Amal but when she left and took something personal of his he was determined to get her back. Now, a promise once made will change Amal & Jet’s fate forever. Oh boy!!! Bad boy lovers rejoice because Jet is EVERYTHING!!! I just love these two together and all the mafia badness…in the best possible way. The action, the tension, the h€at! Oh so good. Can they get an hea in the world in which they live? A top read of 2026! Told in first person and dual POV.

The Devil is book 3 in War of Hearts series and you need to read the first two before you read this one. Books 1 & 2 is about Cassian and Allegra and book 3 is Jet and Amal's story, but there is so much backstory for Jet and Amal from the first two books the reader really needs to know. It's not just Cassian and Allegra's story, Jet and Amal are woven throughout their story as well.

There is a time jump between books 2 & 3 which makes sense. Amal was just finishing high school in book 2, so now she's living in Florida with her little brother, Daniel, and in her last semester of college. They are both back in Devil's Peak for Cassian and Allegra's first born child's baptism. Jet and Amal share some time together which pisses Cassian off. But then Amal disappears and Jet has to find her. Several months later, he does find her in a church in Scotland.

There are so many secrets between these two. About their respective pasts, things they don't want to tell each other and they don't trust. Jet wants to protect her at all costs, but Amal has seen the evil men does or at least her father.

There is so much that happens in this book, so many twists and turns, OMG!! Those last couple of chapters, my heart of pounding!! I couldn't put this book down from page GO!! I wish I could say more of what happens, but I can't because it would spoil it! Just go read it!! Promise, it's so good!!

***4 "Little Virgin!!!" stars***

"Did you really think you could run from me, Little Virgin?"

I have loved the "War of Hearts" duet and I was anticipating Jet and Amal's story!!!
And finally, it's here and I enjoyed it very much!!!
I won't hide to you that in the beginning, I couldn't fully connect with the story, but after a while, I couldn't put the book down!!!
And the connection that the Blackstones had with the Society drove me crazy, cause if you know me, I am obsessed with all the stories that Mrs Knight and Mrs Zavarelli are connecting with this world!!!
It gave a beautiful twist in the story and its gothic and dark aura made me obsessed for once again!!!

"How did you find me?"
"What makes you think I ever lost you?"

From the previous two books in the series, we realized that something was happening between Amal and Jet...
But there were so many things that were standing between them... their age difference, the things they were running from and the fact that Amal's father tried to kill Jet in the previous book!!!
And then that fateful night came where Jet gave Amal shelter and she took from him something special and then, she ran away...
Now, three months later, Jet is finally finding her and he is determined to never let her go again...
But the past is coming back to haunt them both and things are getting ugly very soon...

"I'm not you devil, Amal... I am your protector."

I liked Amal and Jet...
As I told you in the beginning, I was slow at getting a connection with them, but halfway in the story, I loved them!!!
As always the Society was a twisted monster of twisted motherfuc*ers, but it gave an intriguing note to the whole story!!!
The timeline of this relationship/marriage was kind of unreal, and still... I was hooked by the twist of the events...
And now, I can not wait for Severin's turn!!! This man intrigued me very much!!!

"I always thought your eyes looked like a summer sky, but I see now."
"See what?"
"Shards of glass. Blue and green like you find on the beach. Sea glass."
"Are you afrais you'll cut yourself?'
"Too late for that. I'm already bleeding."

⭐⭐⭐⭐🌙

Well, well, well… Jet. After reading The Villain and The Pawn, I was DESPERATE for his story, and honestly, Natasha Knight gave me everything I wanted.

Jet is the Devil for a reason. He has this unquenchable rage and darkness in him, but Amal is his mercy. His absolution. He’s been in love with her for years, and when she runs, taking something very personal from him, he goes after her and makes her his wife.

But Amal has her own reasons for running. She’s spent years afraid for herself and her little brother because of her father’s actions, and she’s carrying secrets Jet knows nothing about. Her escape sets off a chain of events that brings old enemies, buried secrets, and a past neither of them expected crashing back into their lives.

And OH MY GOD, the twists! I did NOT see that one coming… and then the twist in the twist?! I was going crazy. The suspense had me completely on my toes, especially toward the end. I swear, my heart skipped a beat, several actually...

I loved Jet and Amal together. The chemistry, the protectiveness, the possessiveness, the touch-her-and-die vibe… WOW. They’re both damaged and know what it feels like to be unwanted, but somehow they become exactly what the other needs.

And Severin… well, I definitely need more of him after this. And we can't forget Cotton Eye!!!

Jet is the Devil… but Amal is his mercy. What a great book!

That was wild! Things definitely took twists I didn’t see coming at all, and then they just kept coming. How it all tied up in the end was crazy, but of course, it all made perfect sense. The action had my heart pounding out of chest. The attraction and chemistry between the characters sizzled your fingers as you read. The darkness that layered over the story cast deep shadows that our characters refused to let keep them down. Old enemies, unexpected foes, solid alliances, and a blending of two stark and dangerous worlds had me flipping through while cringing away. Our HEA was guarantees by these two from the start, it just took them quite a bit to get to the point where they could start it.

Now, about Severin….

After reading The Villain and The Pawn, I was desperate for Jet's story. Once I knew it was coming, my excitement and expectations grew to insurmountable levels, and I can tell you that, without any hesitation, this book is one of my top reads of 2026.

I absolutely loved getting to know Jethro Blackstone better. He is known as The Devil for a reason; however, I have to say, he stole my heart. I loved seeing him with Amal. This woman is perfect for him, and her strength is truly commendable.

The storyline is incredible. There's drama, excitement, and everything I've come to expect from a story written by Natasha Knight, packed into every single chapter. There's nothing I didn't love about this narrative. The twists and turns kept me intrigued throughout, and I especially loved that I couldn't anticipate what was going to happen next!

I highly recommend The Devil. I'm going to need a signed copy of this book to add to my collection and treasure forever.

This had all the crimson splatter, dark secrets, and explosive twists I expected from the Devil when he came to collect
It also had the added bonus of Amal.
She wasn't just arm candy.
She had faced the darkness that was her father and survived.
She was prepared to face the Devil.
Maybe not today, or even tomorrow.
Possibly in a year or two?
But she would, someday, maybe.

So many pieces of the puzzle clicked into place
Amal’s past and what really happened with her mom
The events that formed the man Jet is today

Then there was the rescue!!!
Fricking loved how this played out

This is one of those series that you will reread over and over
It has everything - Strong characters - Action - Mystery - Romance - Questionable life choices
The series storyline captures the reader and keeps them engaged from the opening scene to the finale.

“Blood stains my hands for you.” “For. You.”
Amal knew Cass was going to use her for leverage and possibly drag her brother into his world as well. She couldn’t let that happen
So she did the only thing she could
She ran.
Not far enough, it turned out.

“My wife. The only person who has ever felt like home.”
I wasn’t sure anyone could tame Amal.
Turned out it wasn’t completely possible.
She had unintentionally ignited a storm of epic proportions with her little stunt.
But Jet would protect her even if that meant forcing her hand. Literally.
She was his heart, and he wouldn't live without her
*sigh, he was such a marshmallow when it came to her*

“My warrior husband. My furious, raging Devil.”
Amal was strong and independent because she had to be.
She could stand on her own, but she couldn't battle the evil that had chosen her for their own.
Enter Jet.
The one man she knew would burn the world down
- just for her

The Devil was devilishly good. I enjoyed it immensely even though it had me anxious, nervous and my heart in my throat for a significant portion of it. It was wild, dark and emotional. It made me angry, sad, appalled and happy, giddy even. I ran through a gamut of emotions while nose deep in it. Amal and Jet's story wasn't easy but it was so worth the hardship. I truly felt for both of them. I loved their journey but man did it do a number on me. I'm not over or recovered from it yet. This is one of those that will sit with me for a while. The emotional damage it meted out was catastrophic. I very highly recommend it. Read at your own peril lol.

❤~🌟~❤ 5 DEVILISHLY ADDICTIVE STARS! ❤~🌟~❤

After devouring the War of Hearts duet by Natasha Knight, I was salivating for Jethro Blackstone’s story, and be still my rabidly beating heart… THE DEVIL has arrived in a storm of righteous fury, and I could not be more exhilarated!

Jet was first introduced as the right-hand man of his stepbrother, Cassian Trevino in THE VILLIAN, and whipped fans into a complete and utter frenzy. He was meant to be his boss’s Consigliere, but fate had other plans in mind for this dark horse. And now, as he steps out of the shadows and takes his rightful place as “The Executioner,” I could barely contain my girlish glee!

But Amal Lombardi…well, she wasn’t quite as giddy about his reentry into her tumultuous world.

From the first page to the last, their tempestuous and torrid arranged marriage story left me positively transfixed. Jet and Amal have a VERY complicated past, and their stormy history that was woven throughout the previous books truly set the stage for their present romance in THE DEVIL.

They’ve been powerfully drawn to each other for years, but haven’t succumbed to their feelings because Amal’s first—and only—priority is shielding her little brother, Daniel, from their father, Malek’s, vicious enemies. Even though Malek’s now burning in hell, and Jet promises to keep her safe no matter what, she still carries unbearable secrets even he knows nothing about.

When the current story opens, Amal’s been living in Florida with Daniel, finishing her last semester of college, but returns to Devil’s Peak for the baptism of Cassian and Allegra’s firstborn. Allegra is like a sister to her, and after everything she and Cassian have endured to be together, Amal can’t stay away. Even knowing she and Daniel don’t belong in their world, not after Malek’s reign of terror, she risks it all to celebrate this momentous occasion with them.

Her reunion with Jet is…combustible, to say the least. Baby Seth’s godfather sets her heart on fire. Always has. Always will.

However, a toxic bloodline comes with a price, and she knows exactly who will eventually come collecting. Her father’s enemies will find her—it’s only a matter of time. So, after a stolen night together, she takes something sacred from Jet, securing her only chance to save herself and her brother when they come for her. But his Little Virgin’s betrayal comes with a price of its own—one she never expects to pay. And by taking what belongs to him, she has put them both in mortal danger.

Cassian warns Jet that she’s never meant for him, but Jet refuses to let her disappear. He’ll tear through every enemy, cross every line, and burn the world down to find her. And once he does, she’ll be completely and utterly at his mercy.”

“He is predator, and I am prey.”

True to his word, three months later, he tracks her down in a church in Scotland. Amal’s trapped like a deer beneath his glacial, forest-green gaze. She knew he’d be angry. Enraged, even. But once, there had always been glimmers of humanity beneath his rough edges.

That was then.

This is now.

Jet is darker now. Harder. And what the Devil does next literally brings her to her knees. Forcing her to kneel before the holy altar, he cruelly reminds her of a promise he once made to her…and then marries her.

Against her will.

The oaths they utter are forged in blood, desperation and desire, and Jet swears he’ll never let her go, no matter the cost. His fiery, defiant Little Virgin puts up a valiant fight. But the battle is lost before it has even begun. Because beneath the fury and vitriol, beneath the pain and regret, lies a love that cannot be extinguished. But their forbidden union ignites a treacherous war, unleashes dark, secret alliances, rips open old wounds…and threatens to implode both their worlds.

Holy moly, this book just consumed my heart and soul! It is chock-full of scintillating spice, pulse-pounding peril, and a ferocity that truly took me by storm. Jet and Amal were just glorious together! Their chemistry was raw. Primal. Tinged with blistering emotion, breathtaking tenderness, and a torturous tension that hurt so good. I loved the cat-and-mouse dynamic between them, the fierce battle of wills and the surprisingly sweet devotion which offset all the tumult and terror circling around them. Jet’s darkness and wicked depravity were beautifully balanced by her beauty, vulnerability, and light, but despite her air of fragility, she has a fierceness in her that rivals his own.

“I can smell her fear, but beneath that, something else. Excitement. Arousal even. And I breathe it in like it’s the sweetest nectar.”

I swooned and squirmed in the best possible way for Jet…this filthy-talking, obsessive/possessive anti-hero’s fierce protectiveness, touch her and you’ll be unalived vibes and smart-alecky wit gave me life. I love how Jet is always calm, cool and collected—even with a gun pointed at him!—but yikes, this huge, hard-muscled, heavily inked executioner is not a man to be trifled with, especially where his beloved wifey is concerned. Sigh. A girl should be so lucky to have a dark, deliciously dominant, hot-blooded devil like him in her corner.

“There’s something inside me…that wants to cage her in and keep her. Lock her away. Safe and sound and mine. All mine.”

And Amal…she gave as good as she got from The Devil. She’s his only weakness. His Achilles heel. She has been “scared every hour of every day for the last four years,” and has a hard time trusting men.

With good reason.

But Jet sees the truth beneath her tough-girl act, because he bears deep, embedded scars as well.

“I am a Devil because I dealt with devils. Because devils killed any innocence in me and in its place left a burning unquenchable rage, a fury that burns hot. Never sated.”

She’s his sweet absolution, and he is determined to storm past her carefully guarded defenses and make her his, heart, body, and soul. I love how these star-crossed lovers are both damaged and broken in their own way, but together their fractured souls become one unstoppable force, healing each other’s deeply embedded wounds while bringing out the best and worst in each other! Their journey together is arduous indeed, but as they walk that fine line between heaven and hell, the payoff is oh-so-blissfully sweet!

And the plot is every bit as gloriously crafted. The remarkably gifted Ms. Knight knows how to create a dark, thrilling, action-packed story that sets your pulse racing! The twists and turns kept me on tenterhooks, with each page bursting with so much pulsating intensity I could barely breathe at times. The Society, with all its dark, sinister rituals, is intricately woven into the plotline, adding another layer of danger, mystery, and forbidden power. And the supporting cast was top-notch. It was especially gratifying seeing Cassian and his beloved Allegra living their HEA with their precious bambino. Of course, their world has endless possibilities for more, and fingers crossed we get Severin’s story next!

BOTTOM LINE:
THE DEVIL is a dark, deliriously addictive mafia romance that walks straight into the flames of obsession, vengeance, and forbidden desire…and I loved every scorching second of it!

Natasha, MA’AM. MA’AM. PUT THE PEN DOWN. ACTUALLY, NEVER MIND. PICK IT BACK UP BECAUSE WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ?!

I have been begging, crying, threatening, and practically getting on my metaphorical mafia knees for Jethro Blackstone’s book since The Villain and The Pawn. I have been WAITING for this man like he owes me child support. And now that I finally have him? I finished this book and immediately had to reread it because HOLY. FUCKING. MASTERPIECE. WHAT WAS THAT?! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE AFTER THIS?!

Natasha, I hope you know that I am no longer a functioning member of society. My brain is fried, my standards for fictional men are somewhere in the deepest pits of hell, and I fear there is absolutely no coming back from this.

Let’s talk about Jethro Blackstone. JET. BLACKSTONE.

The Devil himself. The Executioner. The walking, talking embodiment of “touch her and I’ll bury you where nobody will ever find your body.” This man is DARK. OBSESSIVE. POSSESSIVE. UNHINGED. And somehow, SOMEHOW, he is also the exact kind of man who could ruin my entire existence, and I’d thank him for the privilege.

I knew Jet was going to be dangerous. I knew he was going to be morally questionable. I knew Natasha was about to serve us a man who probably has more bodies buried than I have unread books on my Kindle. But THIS MAN?! THE AUDACITY. THE OBSESSION. THE WAY HE LOVES AMAL?!

I need to lie down.

And then there’s Amal. MY GIRL. My sweet, stubborn, traumatized, little-firecracker Amal.

This woman has been through HELL. She has spent years trying to protect herself and her little brother, carrying secrets, running from the past, and trying to survive in a world where the men around her make the mafia look like a fucking kindergarten playground. And yet, she still has the audacity to stand her ground against Jethro Blackstone himself.

GIRL. THE MAN IS THE DEVIL. THE DEVIL. And you're out here testing him like you have nine lives and a resurrection plan.

But you know what? I LOVE HER FOR IT.

Amal isn't just some fragile little girl waiting for a man to save her. She's scared, she's damaged, she's carrying more than anyone should have to carry, but she's also fierce, stubborn, and willing to do whatever it takes to protect the people she loves. And watching her go toe-to-toe with Jet? ABSOLUTE CINEMA.

Now, their relationship.

EXCUSE ME WHILE I SCREAM INTO MY PILLOW.

The chemistry between these two is not chemistry. It's a goddamn natural disaster. It's arson. It's a five-alarm fire, and somebody needs to call the fucking fire department because I AM NOT OKAY.

The tension? The possessiveness? The obsession? THE WAY THIS MAN IS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY GONE FOR HER?!

I was kicking my feet, biting my Kindle, staring at the ceiling, and questioning every single life choice that led me to develop feelings for a fictional criminal who would probably consider murder a perfectly reasonable solution to a minor inconvenience.

And don't even get me started on the forced marriage.

NATASHA. KNIGHT. YOU ABSOLUTE MENACE.

The way their story unfolds, the way their past catches up with them, the way their secrets threaten to destroy everything they've ever wanted? I WAS EATING THIS SHIT UP. Every confrontation, every moment of tension, every little glimpse of the feelings they've been trying so desperately to bury had me clutching my chest like I was the one being personally victimized.

And the thing that got me the most? Beneath all that darkness, all that rage, all that possessiveness, there's something so heartbreakingly beautiful about these two.

They're both damaged. Both carrying scars they don't know how to heal. Both terrified of things they refuse to admit out loud. And somehow, despite all the chaos, all the secrets, and all the reasons they shouldn't work, they become exactly what the other needs.

Jet might be the Devil, but Amal is his mercy. And I swear to GOD, that woman has this man wrapped around her little finger without even realizing the full extent of the power she holds over him.

THIS is the kind of dark romance I live for. Give me the terrifying, morally gray man who would burn the entire world down for the woman he loves. Give me the woman who refuses to bow without a fight. Give me the angst, the obsession, the possessiveness, the emotional damage, and the kind of devotion that makes me question whether I need a therapist or simply another Natasha Knight book. Actually, give me both.

And then, there's the PLOT because, HELLO?! I went into this book expecting to devour Jet and Amal's love story, and Natasha decided that wasn't enough. Oh, no. She had to throw in secrets, betrayals, dangerous enemies, hidden alliances, and twists that had me questioning EVERYTHING I thought I knew. THE TWISTS. THE FUCKING TWISTS.

I genuinely cannot say much without spoiling things, and I refuse to be the person who ruins this experience for anyone else. But when I tell you that I was NOT prepared for what this woman had up her sleeve, believe me. And then there's the twist within the twist. MA'AM, WHAT?!

I was sitting there reading, minding my own business, thinking I had finally figured things out, and Natasha came along and kicked my little theories straight into the trash. I swear, at some point, I stopped reading and just stared at my screen like a woman who had witnessed something she wasn't emotionally equipped to process. Those last chapters? MY HEART. MY BLOOD PRESSURE. MY LAST REMAINING BRAIN CELL. I could not put this book down. And when I finally reached the end, did I close my Kindle, take a deep breath, and return to my normal life? NO. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED REREADING IT. Because WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT MASTERPIECE?!

You know a book has you in a chokehold when finishing it isn't enough. You need to go back, relive the madness, and emotionally destroy yourself all over again because apparently, peace and stability are no longer part of your personal brand.

And Natasha Knight? This woman is one of my favorite authors for a REASON. She knows exactly how to take a dark, dangerous world, fill it with complicated characters and impossible choices, and somehow make you fall head over heels for people who would probably get you arrested just by association.

I loved seeing Cassian and Allegra again, especially knowing how far they've come since their book. And now we get Jet's story, the man I've been waiting for, the man I've been practically campaigning for, and the man who has officially taken up permanent residence in my brain.

But Natasha, darling, we need to have another conversation. Because Severin?! EXCUSE ME?! I HAVE QUESTIONS. I HAVE NEEDS. I HAVE AN ENTIRE LIST OF MEN IN YOUR BOOKS WHO DESERVE THEIR OWN STORIES, AND I WILL NOT REST UNTIL YOU FEED ME!!!!!.

You cannot just introduce these dangerous, intriguing men, sprinkle a few crumbs in my direction, and expect me to behave like normal human beings. THAT IS NOT HOW THIS WORKS.

So, yes. Five stars. FIVE. DELICIOUS OBSESSED. STARS. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My Rating: 4-4.5 stars!

**ARC was generously provided in exchange for my honest review.**

Ooh. An unexpected third book in War of Hearts and it’s about Jet Blackstone?! Umm, yum! Knight has delivered another gripping dark mafia romance read.

This story has it all. Intrigue, suspense, obsession, and a deep-seated romance that puts not only its MCs through an emotional rollercoaster but the reader themselves. The second you enter their world, you’re transported to a vividly unpredictable and ominous backdrop that immediately piques your interest and elevates your reading experience.

One thing, though. I strongly recommend, if you haven’t already, read the first two books in the series. It’s all set in the same world with the same cast of characters crossing over. You’ll have a fuller understanding of Jet’s and Amal’s backstories having read the series in publishing order and learning how these characters are intertwined.

It’s relatively well-paced storytelling that’s told from dual POVs. Although I felt certain parts were slow-going, it did not at all diminish my enjoyment. I liked the contrasting perspectives between Jet and Amal through their inner dialogue and how they each navigate their feelings.

The standout was definitely the plot twists. Just when I thought I knew which direction the story was headed, I end up being thrown for a loop. There are some minor predictable plotlines, but for the most part, this was a totally complex, twisty storyline that was well crafted and executed.

Knight’s writing is effortless to follow for a story that has layers upon layers to it. Jet is called ‘The Devil’ and for very good reasons. He’s your morally grey MMC who pushes boundaries when it comes to obsession, possession, and protectiveness. Amal is a FMC who has endured. She knows only brutality and cruelty all her life and it’s shaped her character. Same for Jethro. On one hand they’re opposites, yet on the other, their hardships and complex history connects them. I could not get enough of their interactions. Their developing romantic relationship kept me on the edge of my seat and my heart palpitating.

Their story is not for the fainthearted, and it’s not for every romance reader. It contains dark themes that broaches on sensitive subject matters. Some readers may find it disturbing or triggering. It contains graphic violence, torture, child abuse, death, and trauma. It’s intended for readers of age.

It has a sweet balance of romance, dark mafia, and everything in between that makes it such a punchy read. The secondary characters played vital roles in adding further depth to the narrative. There were new characters introduced that left lasting impressions that I’m hoping this isn’t the last we’ll see of them in this series. Or at the very least have their stories told as standalone.

The world-building is exceptional. The first two books had already introduced the darkness they’re enveloped in, but this book expanded from there. It’s the type of dark mafia world avid readers of the romance sub-genre need to experience for themselves to understand why it is an attention-grabbing read.

All in all, I’m glad Knight had decided to extend what was initially a duet now into a series. Despite the history and the complicated bonds amongst the characters, they have formed their own unique familial ties and dynamics. It was cool getting to witness not only Jet and Amal find the love they both deserve, but also the way their characters gradually evolved.

Jet’s story was well-worth the wait. It’s great literary escapism from a trusty auto-read author. If your a fan of mafia romances, add this one to your TBR. There are plenty of action and suspense, with tons of brow-wagging spice too. I was left sighing in happy contentment.

4.25stars-THE DEVIL is the third instalment in Natasha Knight’s contemporary, adult WAR OF HEARTS dark, erotic, organized crime, romance series. This is Jethro ‘Jet’ Blackstone, and twenty-two year old, Amal Lombardi’s story line THE DEVIL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty, but I recommend reading the series in order for back story, cohesion, and better understanding of our heroine’s fear.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Amal and Jet) THE DEVIL focuses on the acrimonious relationship between our story line couple. Amal and her younger brother Daniel are virtual prisoners of crime boss Cassian Trevino, and our heroine fears that one day, vengeance for her father’s sin, will end her life without fanfare or warning but Amal never expected the attentions and protection of Cassian’s right hand man Jet Blackstone, a man she is about to betray. Taking something that belongs to Jet, Amal goes on the run, landing in her mother’s home country of Scotland where she will discover her journey has been tracked, and her need for money, places a target on her head. Desperate to protect Amal, Jet goes on the hunt but within days of his arrival, our couple, and Jet’s brother Severin become prisoners of a dangerous underground group known as the Society, a group determined to take what doesn’t belong.

The world building is complex, detailed and dark. Jet Blackstone is constantly at odds with the man in charge as our hero is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling love but the past refuses to let go-The Society lay claim, using past betrayal as actionable and prosecutable.

The relationship between Jet and Amal is tempestuous at best but Jet will lay claim to the woman he is desperate to protect, a woman who is unable to trust in the face of past betrayals. Forced into marriage to protect her life, Amal battles between head and heart, as Jet struggles to keep them both alive. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters are dark, twisted, and often deviant. We are introduced to Jet’s brother Severin; Jet’s right hand man Malcolm, as well as the return of Cassian Trevino and his wife Allegra. The requisite evil has many faces.

THE DEVIL is a gritty story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, danger and darkness, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The action packed premise is, anxiety inducing, haunting, and raw; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are twisted, tragic, desperate and determined.

Another alluring Natasha Knight romance! The Devil is the kind of dark romance that grabs you by the throat, wraps itself around your heart, and refuses to let you go until the very last page. Book three in the War of Hearts series, and WOW. Natasha has delivered another twisted, deliciously intense, utterly addictive story that CONSUMED me. The secrets, the danger, the tangled loyalties, the chemistry?! I was ALL IN. I gobbled this one up and could not put it down!

First things first, read the first two books before diving into this one! These stories are deeply interconnected, and the history, relationships, and events woven throughout the series make this journey so much richer. There is SO much happening beneath the surface, and just when you think you've figured out where things are headed, Natasha pulls the rug right out from under you. The suspense is relentless, the twists keep coming, and the layers of this world make it nearly impossible to put down. I loved the dual timeline glimpses in this one, it adds ALL the more intensity.

At the heart of it all are Jet and Amal, and OH MY WORD, THESE TWO. Amal Lombardi knows what it means to live under someone else's protection, but protection doesn't always mean safety. After leaving behind the world she once knew, she finds herself tied to Jethro "Jet" Blackstone, a man whose connection to her goes back further than either of them can simply walk away from. Jet has his own reasons for wanting her back, and a promise made long ago sets events into motion that neither of them can escape so easily. And from there? Buckle UP.

Jet is everything I want from a dark romance antihero. Dangerous, morally gray, fiercely possessive, and completely gone for Amal. That intensity of his.... THE MAN IS OBSESSED. His protective instincts, the way his attention never truly leaves her, and the sheer force of his desire make him impossible to look away from. He's a walking talking RED FLAG, but that's rather the point, isn't it?! Dark romance readers, you KNOW what we're here for.

And Amal is such an important part of why their dynamic works. There's so much history and emotional complexity between these two, and their relationship develops against a backdrop of secrets, shifting loyalties, and circumstances that leave very little room for easy choices. So much of this story is also about Amal growing up. Growing into who she wants to be, after so long behind told who or what she was. But that also means coming to terms with her past, with her lineage, with all the trauama and pain. The bad, the worse, the ugly parts of it. And coming to terms that only she can write her destiny, only she can decide what parts of her history are truly part of her blood. I loved her character arc so much. And I loved how Jet catalyzes it all.

The tension is delicious, the attraction is undeniable, and the push and pull between them kept me glued to the pages. Their story has that dangerous, all-consuming quality where you know things are going to get messy, but you simply cannot look away. The forced proximity, the marriage complications, the possessiveness, the HEAT! Natasha absolutely understood the assignment.

Beyond the romance, the secret society elements and mafia world add so much to the atmosphere. This isn't just a story about two people falling for each other. It's about navigating a world where power comes at a price, trust is hard to come by, and every decision can have consequences. The action and romantic suspense keep the stakes high, while the interconnected relationships and found family elements give the series its emotional backbone. There is a real sense that every character and every past event matters, which makes this installment feel like an essential piece of the bigger picture. The biggest question, of course, is whether two people like Jet and Amal can find their happily ever after in a world this dangerous. Because their road is anything but simple.

The pacing kept me flying through the pages, constantly needing to know what would happen next. There's darkness, danger, plenty of morally questionable decisions, and a romance that brings the kind of intensity this genre does SO well. I loved the way the story kept me guessing while allowing Jet and Amal's connection to remain at the center of everything. It's wild, steamy, suspenseful, and packed with the kind of twists that make you want to immediately grab the next book, even when you've barely caught your breath.

Overall, The Devil is a dark, twisty, high-heat romance that had me completely hooked. Natasha Knight knows how to build a dangerous world, create characters who get under your skin, and keep you turning pages long past the point when you should probably be doing something else. Jet and Amal brought the obsession, the tension, and the deliciously dark romance goodness, while the larger series storyline kept me on my toes. Natasha has done it AGAIN!

After reading the first two books The Villain & The Pawn I couldn’t wait to read Jet and Amal’s story, The Devil.
Jethro is man with deep seated feelings and emotions. He hates deeply and loves deeply.
He’s filled with darkness and fury. But also is protective and loyal. A very multilayered man.
Amal is filled with guilt and carries the burden of the deeds of her father. She is always scared and always worried.
Especially when it comes to her younger brother Daniel. Willing to do anything to keep him safe.
But underneath all the pain and sadness. She is still the fierce and brave girl she always was.
I absolutely loved the chemistry between her and Jet.
The sexual tension is always thick in the air whenever they are in the same room together.
But what was just as consuming with the bond between them. I loved that connection with them.
The deeper and intimate feelings they shared were just as intense and just as strong as their physical connection.
Jet is dangerous and deadly, he’s called The Devil for good reason.
When it comes to Amal we get to witness another side to him that absolutely had me swooning and falling in love.
And I really appreciated that Amal let him see how much she cares for him. She wasn’t coy or hiding her feelings from him.
The suspense had me holding my breath and at the edge of my seat.
Holy moly some scenes were so freaking intense I couldn’t read fast enough to see how events would unfold.
The book is gripping and thrilling and twists and turns that are absolutely stunning.
And I expect nothing less from this amazing author and her incredible storytelling.
Her words bring everything to life. Vivid descriptions and details and world building it’s like watching a movie.
So clear your day when you start reading this book. Because once you start there is no putting it down.

Wow!!! What a book!!! To fully grasp this story you really need to read the first two in the series even though they centre on different characters, Jet and Amal do feature in the first two books!!

Holy hell, Jet Blackstone completely owns me! This man is the definition of dark, possessive, and dangerously obsessive, and I honestly couldn't get enough of him. There's just something about a ruthless man who would burn the entire fucking world down for the woman he loves that gets me every single time. 🥵

Amal thought she could run, but you don't just walk away from a man like Jet. Their relationship is twisted, intense, and overflowing with secrets, betrayal, and a level of obsession that had me completely hooked. I loved the dark, possessive energy between them, the explosive chemistry, and the way Jet's devotion to Amal borders on downright madness. The secrets, the danger, and the blood-soaked world surrounding them made this such an addictive read.

Natasha Knight knows exactly how to deliver a dark romance that gets under your skin, and Jet is the kind of morally grey man who makes you question your sanity for falling so hard for him. I was completely obsessed with this story and didn't want to put it down. If you love your heroes ruthless, possessive, and completely unhinged when it comes to their women, The Devil is absolutely worth adding to your TBR.

So friggin good! A gripping, deliciously dark read! 🖤🔥

The Devil by Natasha Knight was dark, intense, and completely addictive. From the very beginning, I was pulled into a story filled with danger, secrets, obsession, forced marriage and plenty of tension.

Jet was never letting Amal go….for no one, Amal is his obsession, she was only ever going to his, no matter what Cassian wanted!

Natasha Knight, as always, does such a great job of creating complicated characters who live firmly in the grey. The chemistry between the Jet and Amal was impossible to ignore, and I loved the push and pull between them. Their relationship is messy, passionate, and full of the kind of angst that kept me turning the pages.

The darker atmosphere, suspense, and unexpected twists made this such an entertaining read, and the romance had exactly the intensity I was hoping for.

If you enjoy dark romance with morally grey characters, possessive heroes, high stakes, and plenty of heat, The Devil is definitely worth picking up.

We can’t not get a book for Severin 🤔

Best out of the series

I’ll admit, I didn’t love Amal that much at first as a character. She was lowkey annoying and acted like a child sometimes, but she definitely grew on me. I really liked seeing how strong she became throughout the story. I do wish we had gotten to see who Amal’s actual father was, though. I feel like that would’ve been interesting to explore.

One thing I’ve noticed about some of Natasha Knight’s newer books is that being a virgin and the whole idea of “purity” doesn’t seem to be as big of a deal anymore. They were ready to remarry her to someone else without really caring about it. It just felt kind of odd to me because virginity and purity are such a huge theme in a lot of her other books.

Lastly, I swear Natasha Knight always does this, but what is the point of making some books available on KU while making others something you have to pay for? It’s annoying asf. She did the same thing with the Rite Trilogy. I had to pay for one of the three books while the other two were on Kindle Unlimited. Like, whyyy? It’s like having to pay twice.

This is the third book in this impressive series, and this is Jethro / Jet and Amal’s story.
Jet is know as “The Devil” for a reason, and Amal becomes his only weakness. When Amal betrays Jet, and steals from him, she manages for 3-months to escape his clutches, but when he catchers her, he binds her to him the only way he knows how.
This is a well written action-packed story, with secrets, drama, tension, obsession, betrayal, suspense, intrigue, forced proximity, forced marriage, secret society, touch her and die, morally gray, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, twisted, and unpredictable, dark mafia romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

What an intense story! My heart is pounding so hard right now! It’s the kind of story that you can’t put down until every last word is read. Jet and Amal are a force to be reckoned with. They may start off rocky, but they end with my heart so full. Quite a bit goes on that will make your head spin and I wanted to throw my Kindle so many times. To me that is the sign of a brilliantly written story. Jet is so fiercely protective of Amal and will stop at nothing to save her from an evil fate. And Amal is so fierce that you can’t help but fall in love with her. They both have demons from their pasts but together they vow to fight them. There is just so much to love about this story and this power couple. A truly amazing read!
