Hart Clan Hybrids #2

Love's a Witch

You can’t outrun love, especially when it runs on four legs.

Hart Clan Hybrids, Book 2

Since a very real set of vampire fangs sank into her arm, Mary Fields has accepted that she’s part of a magical world where all her dreams and visions finally make sense.

As she journeys to find a Wiccan mentor who’ll help her get a handle on her new powers, she clings to the one relic from her former life—a sketchpad. She also tries to ignore the red mating aura she’s beginning to see around her only companion on the trip—the hottie she used to read to at the library.

Mary’s readings were once a fun distraction from the cruel joke the supernatural world played on Craig Hart. He’s supposed to protect her from vampires out to make her their personal blood supply, yet he can’t bring himself to keep his paws off.

As Mary digs deep for the inner strength to protect herself, one stumble off her magical path sends her straight into Craig’s arms. Where love burns…but so does a truth that could turn that red mating aura into a river of blood.

When I saw this book was out, I did a happy dance. I adored the first book in the series. LOVED IT.

This book made me a little nuts. The world building is great. The series plot arch is solid. Character motivation and communication was just off. It was like each scene was two beats behind. Why would they think or do that? The plot of being chased and the harvesters provided enough conflict. Coming into one's magic and starting a new Clan is enough. Mate denial is not needed and the reasoning on both parts between the starts and stalls in the relationship and even between Clan members, bleh.

And after all that, a cliffhanger of sorts--not in the relationship but in the series arc. We earned the next chapters. They could be retold through other points of view if needed in the next book.

I will try the next book but not with as much joy.

The Clan is on the road attempting to escape the vampires on their trail. This ragtag group of hybrid Alphas (though, Amber is definitely Alpha número uno), super smart werewolf, and witch continue to find trouble. Mary wants to come into her witch powers, but training always seems to go up in flames - literally. Craig, the werewolf of the Clan, is finding it harder and harder to keep his distance from Mary. His wolf wants her in a bad way, but Craig isn't ready for that level of commitment.

Throw in kidnapped witches, an unhappy family reunion for Craig, and a crazy attraction that just won't quit and you've got one hell of a story.

I liked the inter-species cooperation and am anxiously waiting for Shelly's book. I'm looking forward to her acknowledging her mates. Obviously, the Matheo is batshit crazy and needs to go. I'm just wondering who will step in and fill the void.

I won a copy of this book through a contest by the author.

Mary must find the inner strength to protect herself but one stumble sends her straight into Craig’s arms where loves burns – but so does a truth that could turn the mating into a river of blood in this pulse pounding paranormal romance. I was completely caught up in this story full of fascinating characters with vibrant personalities, the world is full of interesting elements that change the supernatural into something different. I have not read the first book in the series which means that while this story had enough references to keep me from being lost it was obvious that I missed the important events that lead the clan to the start of this book, so I will be taking care of that while I await the next Hart Clan Hybrid story.

I rated this book 3 stars for 2 reasons.
-1 star: I was annoyed for the first 50% of the story. It was dragging & the protagonist had some serious communication issues they refused to acknowledge let alone work through.
-1 star: Cliffhanger ending.
I will continue this series & actually look forward to book 3. Fingers crossed it's Shelly's story.

REVIEW:: Love's A Witch, continues from Love at First Bite the first novel in this series I would highly recommend reading that one first, before you Go on a journey with Mary who is learning about her new witchy abilities and Craig who is running and hiding from his past.

"You got me, Craig I meant to burn the place down. Its all part of my master plan to send smoke signals to the Vampires who are trying to kill me best friend"

I Love the Snark and Banter Mary and Craig have to watch them grow and develop is beautiful

As we go on tis wild ride we still get to see Amber and Jake, and how they all deal with there new Clan and there Roles with in group. Fabulous page turner that makes you want to no whats going to happen next!

♥Not as much sexy time as the first, you dont really miss it, cos you are learning more and more abut the Vamps, Weres and Witches. But the Smexy Time You Got was OF the Charts HOT!!!

He pushed my legs apart, and i could feel the trickle of wetness on my lips as he spread me wide. One hand traced the ridge between my thighs and my core. he stayed on the outside of my lips. Back and forth. A push and a pull......

The Hart Clan is on the run from vampires trying to kill Amber on the first book and this story is the continuation of it from Mary and Craig's POV.

This book made me a little nuts. The world building is great. The series plot arch is solid. Character motivation and communication was just off. I was annoyed for 50% in the beginning of the book. It was dragging. Mary had some serious communication issues. I thought she would be sassy and more of a kick-ass heroine but she had some serious communication issue and Craig.

Craig have a major problem with emotion and feelings.

He repeatedly ask himself why he was in the clan then come back to the same conclusion that his place is in the Clan of Hybrids. He also continually deny his feelings for Mary.
Dammit. Being the beta wasn't easy. My male leader could dazzle me if he wanted to, my female leader was crazy, and although I believed in them both, neither one seemed above putting me in my place.

I did like it a lot better when Mary became a part of the Clan but then Craig blew it all up by cutting his ties to the clan. I did love the humor in the story and would read the next installment because I am curious of Shelly's story.

I was eager to read the second book in this series since the series is a different take on werewolf/vampire/witch. I loved the first book (Love at First Bite) because of the kick ass heroines. I highly recommend you read the first book prior to this one.
Short synopsis:
The story is centered on Mary and her abilities. She comes into her own and becomes a strong woman in her own right. Craig stops hiding from himself and takes on his past. A little more of the purpose/future of the "Clan" is given.
Loved:
Craig standing up for what he believes in and faces the consequences of the decision.
How Jake handles Amber being Alpha while being hot and dominant still.
Amber is still crazy as ever. Love crazy werewolf bitch stories!
Wish list:
I wish there were more scenes with Mary showing her newfound skills, but I guess that will come later.
Explained why Mary was kept in the dark.

Overall I am extremely eager to get the next story not only because of the cliffhanger, but I hope Vampire Barbie's story is next. She is hell on wheels and I cannot wait to see her matched!
Although the sex scenes are hot, I was more focussed on the story line in this one. It has interesting twists and I cannot wait to see what's coming next.

I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The Hart Clan is made up of two vampire/werewolf Hybrids, a "pure" werewolf and a fledgling witch - more human than anything. Because she has no "powers" or even any real skill, she cannot be one of the "clan. But, Mary is Amber's best friend and savior. So she tags along with the group as they go into hiding. I love the growth of the group as a whole, and Mary in particular in this second installment of this amazing series. The unrequited feelings between Mary and Craig are entertaining. Communication 101 was not something either took in college. Greatly enjoyed this couple. The over-arching story line of the series is becoming even more enthralling. Can't wait for the next book of the series.

I have to say I actually enjoyed this one more than the first book. And I loved the first book. Mary and Craig were more intense to read with their clash of love and hate. I loved this book. Very well written. Cannot wait to read the next installment. Hopefully lots more of these two love birds. And plenty of steam to go around. Wonderful book.
