"Rendezvous in Rio" brings back Madalina and Cole from the first book, "Escaping Vegas". Also back are the adversaries from that book and I still had a hard time believing in them and accepting them. Before I saw the blurb I thought perhaps the next book might focus on one of Cole's brothers. I should have paid more attention to the series title, lol. But I would still like to see them get their own books, especially Samuel. I have a crush on him. :D

Cole is still hot but less grouchy, and scarily good at his work. Madalina has grown since the first book, become more adventuresome and more willing to travel. In part that's due to her adventures in the first book and in part due to letters from her late grandfather. The letters were a bit much at times and his games not always believable, but the letters were sweet and I could feel the love he had for Madalina. Her love for him was also obvious.

Unfortunately, Bourdon is also obvious. Her writing at times was simplistic and patronizing:

Lit by several overhead lights, it looked to be a private office for someone of importance. He knew by the carved mahogany desk, matching bookcases, and expensive chairs.

He took the time to search for more guns (it wouldn't do to be shot in the back)...

The romance between Cole and Madalina has progressed nicely. They don't always agree but there's no drama or big miscommunication, just the natural ups and downs of a relationship. The drama in the story comes from the dragon statue and the lengths certain parties are willing to go to in order to acquire it.

I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the story even when it stretched credibility, there was lots of action mixed with characterization, but this time around Bourdon's writing style irritated me. The ending of the book was open-ended so I'm uncertain if there will be more books and I'm just as uncertain whether I'll read more in this series if it continues.

Mystery and action continues for Cole and Madalina. Madalina's grandfather sends her on an adventure from his grave with a series of hidden letters that include clues about the location of another Dragon. Now more bad guys join the hunt, while Cole enlists his brothers to assist. Madalina finds herself running through the streets of Rio, and less time in her Boutique. Madalina and Cole are now in a real relationship with mutual trust and love. Cole's brothers are a good addition to the mix. Once again, the books are more about action than steamy love scenes.

Very good

I find this series to be well written and pretty intriguing. Just like the first book, I liked it from beginning to end. What I really like is the fact that I had made up my mind on circumstances only to be proven wrong. I was so sure the brother, Thaddeus, was in cahoots with the Chinese agents. I was so wrong, I think! Great storyline!

Thanks to the author and NetGalley, I was allowed to read this book in exchange for an honest review. This book picks up a few months where the first book left off. Cole and Madalina are living their lives together and enjoying their relationship. Just when they think that life is settling down, Madalina receives a letter from her grandfather that has already passed away. This letter and the subsequent return of the Chinese agents will set Cole and Madalina on a journey in search of another dragon.

Along the way, Madalina will find more letters from her grandfather. These letters are touching and show her just how much she meant to him. They are an excellent addition to the story. The couple will run into danger on their journey and will meet a new foe along the way. The new foe turns out to be even more dangerous than the Chinese agents.

The author once again does an excellent job of mixing suspense and emotion into a seriously hot relationship between Cole and Madalina. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. Very good book!

Loved this book! It's a fast paced romantic suspense that moves very quickly. Madalina and Cole are now a couple when, once again, Madalina's grandfather contacts her from beyond the grave. What he has created for her to experience after his death is an amazing journey. Unfortunately, once a dragon is involved, there is no time to enjoy it. The agents tracking the dragons have upped the ante and keep things moving at a frenetic pace.

Cole's brothers play a bigger role in this book and I'm hoping that continues in future books. If you like romantic suspense, you will love this book - it's another winner.

I haven't read book one so I was missing some pieces to the puzzle so to speak. But I liked it. It's a fast paced, romantic, suspenseful story that leaves you eager for the next book. I loved Cole and his brother. They are well fleshed out complex characters. Madalina's got just the right amount of spunk to make her endearing. It's an over all good story. I plan on getting the first book to check out what all I missed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing for the free advance copy.

This is the 2nd in a series.. I have not read the 1st book so was a little lost as there is not a good explanation of the first book. I did enjoy the book though. It was a fun book, with a mystery involved. The characters get to travel to find a dragon with lots of adventures on the way. Led by letters from her dead grandfather-who wants her to learn to explore and live life to the fullest. Wow-what a great thought!! Well worth a try.

Although this is book 2 in the series, I was still able to read and enjoy it without reading the first. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to have a little clue about what happened in the first book. A short synopsis would have been great, because there were some pretty big things that were never explained. So, although you can read it as a standalone, you might enjoy it more if you read the books in order.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

Not my kind of read. Liked historical descriptions of nmNYC in 1870s. Did not like the fiction. Characters weak. Prose dense.
