Reviews and Comments The first thing that you should do is obsess about the terms in this book. Vocabulary is the first step to understanding, and if you don’t know what something means, figure it out. Don’t turn the page until you do.

My Quirk eMarketing textbook is a truly indispensable desk item. Since completing the e-course I have been able to help embed the correct terminology and appropriate digital focus with all colleagues from top down. This is essential if we, as a global business, wish to be seen as competent leaders and high quality adopters of digital marketing tactics and strategies. Behind every great digital marketer should be this great textbook!
- Sunita Anderson, Group Marketing Knowledge Manager at SABMiller plc.
“I found the textbook well-written, making what could be quite complex terms and definitions easy to understand. Having loads of practical examples scattered throughout the chapters, the theoretical concepts were well highlighted in practical, real-world application. Each chapter challenged me to apply my newly learnt skills through providing further readings and additional resources to explore.”

I read the first edition many years ago. Then I followed up until now. When America coined eMarketing in its infancy, in South Africa Rob grew Quirk, an innovative agency with a few of the biggest brands in the continent.
Although now the book is part of Red & Yellow, a creative school of business, the book gave unique prestige to the agency. I believe without the greatest return on investment, but what was Quirk without the quirkiness?
It was the ONLY complete reference book at the time. Yes, you could make a few bucks here and there online, but without strong basics, it was really hard to adapt, or even pivot. Hell, I even got acquainted with Seth Godin.
Still a fantastic source of the vintage letter E and modern marketing (which is mixing with the real world more and more, maybe invisibly). A must-read for practitioners worldwide.
This book was assigned reading for a university-level continuing education course in Internet marketing. The price could not be beat; it was a free download from the publisher. The material was organized well and included useful charts for planning and measuring marketing goals. My main issue with the book, however, was that it could get confusing for the American learner as the book was published in a different continent. Many of the Web sites mentioned were not familiar to me and, as a trained grammarian, I found myself distracted by a form of written English with which I was unfamiliar. I'd consider this book a decent resource (especially that it is available at no cost), but not the only resource for those who wish to learn about eMarketing.
Rock-solid encyclopaedic and authoritative. Covers a vast and complex field with crisp and easy to comprehend guidance and inspiration. Definitely a go-to ressource for newbies and the more astute practitioners in this field
The book was good on delivering a comprehensive view of digital marketing and it serves as a reference(though some content is not up to date especially with online and social platforms).
Also, the chapters sometimes is stuffed with topics and information discussed before and the book repeats itself. I know that's sometimes necessary to get a full picture of every chapter, but I think they are over doing it. The most important reason behind that, I think, is that anyone can pick up some chapters of interest to read or as reference without missing essential information.
After reading the whole thing once, it's not worth it to do that again. Still a good reference and rich of information and best practices.

Although the book was published since a decade ago, everything I wanted to know was significantly shown in it. More perceived how important the use of knowledge in content creation, web design, choices of type of marketing strategies suitable for a particular business. The book pointed out what exactly a marketing strategist should perform for brand promoting/awareness, conversion optimization, the use of social media, the importance of web-based knowledge etc. I's so exciting to answer the case study questions and cheaper questions. The most challenging part for me was web development and design because it went through more technical knowledge.
The book will be prefect for someone who knwos very little about digital marketing and has never done it.
The book is well structured, provides all the information that a beginner will need to start implementing digital marketing.
However, if you like myself have already created websites, used Facebook Ads, Google Ads etc. this book is unlikely to provide you any useful information, apart from some minor issues.
Therefore, my personal rating is 3-stars, while it is 5-stars for beginners.
