Now more than ever before the hears of the children are being turned to their fathers, and the sacred saving ordinances for both the living and the departed are linking generations together. Temples to Dot the Earth is a testament to the fulfilling of that promise. This book offers a wealth of information on temples and temple work, beginning with an overview of temple worship in former dispensations and then recounting the temple story from the beginning of the Restoration through the twentieth century.
It reviews the history of temple - building by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including the changes in focus, purpose, and architecture. Much of the last bit I just skimmed through after the temple history was finished. It does leave out the last 15 years or so that occurred after publication.
Read in conjunction with a BYU class on temples. Though this is now dated and there seem to be quite a few typos, the information it contains about some of the earlier temples is so interesting. I loved reading this book. Recommended to those with an interest.
I loved this book. It was the text for one of my religion classes at Brigham Young University. It is not difficult to read and contains scriptures, quotes, and histories concerning ancient Temples and current LDS Temples throughout the world. I learned a lot about Temples by reading this book.
Such a good informative book if you want to know more about the history and uses of lds temples. It was the text for a class and having the author as my professor increased my connection with the book.
