The Fragmented #2

A Dream of Memories

The epic sequel to award-winning author Sofi Aguilera's hit fantasy novel An Echo of Oblivion.

What makes a god afraid?

The immortal gods were supposed to be indestructible, but the Lost Coven found a way to kill them. Now the hunt is on, and the gods that for millennia had thrived by drinking human blood for more power have become the prey. That makes them terrified.

Wolf has spent most of his lifetime safeguarding the secret to the gods' immortality. Until the most dangerous coven in the world discovered how to destroy them. Now, in a desperate bid to save his fellow immortals, Wolf must do the infiltrate the Lost Coven. But these half-bloods don't just want the gods dead. They want to steal their power and become a new generation of gods. To stop them, Wolf will have to keep his identity and power hidden-even as the people hunting gods learn to recognize one.

Isa didn't mean to get caught in a war between gods. Hired by private detective Lucian Holt to solve a string of murders in the Bay Area, her expertise in ancient languages made her useful. And that made her a target. Now she's imprisoned by the Lost Coven, who intend to use her to finish what they started. But as Isa's mind unravels, and fragments, she begins to discover a power latent inside her that is slowly awakening. A power that can save the gods, or doom them all.

Dario never asked to be immortal. Turned against his will and forced into one of the most powerful covens in the world, the Coven of the Sun, he has paid a higher price for immortality than most-because the half-blood who turned him, Beatrice, didn't just give him eternal life. She left him a deadly secret he doesn't fully understand. But Beatrice is dead, and only her killer knows the truth. To find it, Dario will have to ally with the coven that was once his family, even as they become his biggest enemy.

As the immortal world descends into chaos, half-bloods must remain loyal to the gods who gave them power, or destroy them for the crimes they have committed.

Either way, ancient gods and half-bloods alike will fall. And new gods will rise.

Arc Review

This book!!

This is book 2 in The Fragmented series and OMG!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where every chapter leaves you reeling! The end of every chapter left me scrambling to get to the next so fast!

I was already in love with the characters after the first book (An echo of oblivion), but honestly!!! The development in this just threw me over the edge!
There are so many twists that it’s impossible to see them coming. It’ll have you kicking your feet, sat on the edge of your chair, crying your eyes out and having to hold back your rage!

Wolf… I dunno if I love you or hate you!
Dario…. I’d jump infront of a bullet for you!

This books mixes mythology with vampires in the most unique way, making a world that is both utter chaos and totally intriguing.

It also covers some really deep and hard subjects, like grief, in a really beautiful way.

“Death is cruel, shattering our hopes and dreams… But what happened, happened, and trying to live life the way we think it should have been is a betrayal to ourselves because we remain stuck in grief and can’t build a future.”

Book 2 comes out on 16th October, book 1, An Echo of Oblivion, is already available on Amazon

If you’ve never taken my word for it before, please take it now!! Run to Amazon!! You need these books in your life!

Thank you to Sofi Aguilera for the ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I had to sit for a bit after finishing A Dream of Memories because holy moly! What a book! It has all the epic elements of the mythologies it's incorporated, a cast of incredible characters and constant, unpredictable twists.

I really enjoyed the multiple POVs of the story, especially with the added one from Dario (who now owns a slice of my heart, my sweet sun boy!), as they fed us pieces of the story in a way that kept things a mystery but cohesively came together in the end in a very satisfying way.

I wasn't a big fan of Isa in book 1 but she really came into her own this time with certain aspects of her past revealed in a way that created a loveable, brave and compassionate woman I was rooting for all the way.

I was very curious how Sofi was going to follow up book 1, but my God this was beyond anything I could have imagined. This is how you do a sequel! I am buzzing with excitement for book 3 🤩

Did I just review my own book? Yes :) I have some things to say.

This book was such a journey! At the heart of it was a single question: What happens when grief is so profound that it gets buried so deep it becomes lost? But then it begins to resurface again?

While this is a fantasy book inspired by ancient mythologies, and the premise that the ancient gods stopped protecting us and became our hunters, this book was also meant to be a bit of an emotional journey.

I enjoyed getting to explore Wolf as he feels vulnerable for the first time in millennia, Isa/Isis as she grapples to understand who she is. And I loved writing Dario’s POV and exploring a character who is so broken yet has so much love to give.

I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it 🖤🩸

Thank you Sofi for once again offering me an ARC for this series for my honest review and for entertaining my endless DMs with omg moments and tons of questions!

What a book two! So many new characters, mysteries, and revelations! Oh and the mythology at the center of this story, so good.

This book starts exactly where the first one ended and it is chaos right out of the gate. We get a new POV that adds so much more depth and insight into not only what it is like to be half blood but also to what is going on with the story in general. I spent the whole time not knowing where the story was going or who to trust so every chapter ended up being another surprise.

And the ending 😩. Reading of people learning their truths was so devastating! And Ugh I can’t believe I forgot about that little nugget of info the re-emerges at the very end. Can only imagine the twist that will bring next book. Let’s just say I am praying that Sofi wraps this up in a satisfying ending and possibly a HEA in book 3.

If you have ever asked "where did the ancient gods disappear to" or "how did vampires come into existence," and enjoy a good dark fantasy with tons of twists and turns, then The Fragmented series is for you!

Every chapter left me reeling & I could hardly put the book down. Just when I thought I finally figured out the mystery, I'd learn something new that made me go back to reevaluate everything - making me relate even more to each of the characters. It has the perfect amount of romance with murder mystery!

I was already in love with the characters, but book 2 has made me steadfast in my belief that Dario is my heart & soul, & can do no wrong.

"Just because something ends, it doesn't mean it's not worth beginning."

Take my word: this series is definitely worth the read!

This is a very good book, don’t get me wrong. It’s the conclusion we needed from book one, and explains a lot of questions we had. If you can get past the incest, this is a very good book. The mythology is incredible. Also I just didn’t like the ending- but if there’s a third book where the main girl DOESN’T end up with who she ends up with, then I’d give this a higher rating.

Diving deeper and twisty-er into The Fragmented series, this sequel made me gasp in shock more than once! The reveals and twists in this book just keep coming. You never know who to fully trust nor if it’s truly the right person. This plot is shrouded in deep group politics and characters’ motives (and even memories). Which keeps you guessing and readjusting the entire book! This is a fun story line with vampires, Gods, magic and hierarchy systems and politics. It went away from the crime mystery of the first book and developed into an in depth world building story about uncovering characters’ pasts and futures. Finding out everyone’s truths and secrets leaves you 🤯. NO ONE is exempt! Even the most innocent characters all have secrets that get revealed and I loved it! It was refreshing to read about how everyone has deep (sometimes dark) secrets, but they don’t have to let the past define them, instead how they let it mold their future actions into who they want to be. Also, how traumatizing grief can be; to where you run and do anything to hide and forget about it, even become a new person.

A fun series that steers more towards fantasy with a tiny bit of spice, but really gets your brain working with twists!
