The Fuhrer's orders were clear—conquer Mount Elbrus, highest peak in the Caucasus mountains. But there were problems: Elbrus was behind the Russian lines; the route to the mountain was blocked by hostile Cossack tribesmen; and the fanatical Red Ravens, Stalin's elite corps of women commandos, were dedicated to protect the mountain's secrets. Above all, the mountain itself, aloof and undefiled, was protected by bitter cold, savage winds, thin air, and treacherous traverses—it was a killer. Only one unit in the German Army could hope to fulfil the Fuhrer's demand—one unit with the necessary combination of bawdy, reckless courage and elan, of superb leadership and matchless skills: Stormtroop Edelweiss.
3* I like these books as a bit of escape from my usual grimdark fantasy delving and this was another action packed and light hearted romp.
This time we have a break from following Von Dodenberg and crew and instead follow the mountain troopers of the SS, Stormtroop Edelweiss and Colonel Stuermer and his band of misfits. Its really the same formula, likable and not so doctorate brain washed leader followed by his overbearingly Nazi 2nd in command and of course his rascal NCO's who laugh and jibe everyone with ribald wit through out the books.
Nothing deep and meaningful or politically or even sexually correct here so move on if you want something tasteful or thought provoking!
The mission is to climb one of Russia's highest mountains and to not be killed by partisans and Russian spies whilst doing so. I enjoyed the mountaineering stuff a lot more than I thought I would and it was a nice change of scene from occupied France\Belgium in the other novels.

Jedna od najgorih knjiga koje sam pročitao. Ne znam šta mi je bilo gore, razrada likova, sadržaj, tema, način pisanja, totalna katastrofa i gubljenje vremena.
An interesting tale where you’re not sure who exactly you should be gunning for. Germans or Soviets. A good pace for the style and with a few twists and turns without being overly suspenseful.
