Do they love to hate each other, or do they hate to love each other?
Kate Pogue and Adam Foley have been competing for early-morning solo rink time since they were in high school. She’s a grumpy figure skater who had good reasons for deciding not to compete nationally. He’s the grumpy center of a local beer-league team after a hockey injury ended his brief career in the NHL.
The hockey podcast Kate does with her brothers went viral because of how she trolls the Icebreakers center. Just because she’s made up seventeen different nicknames for Adam and has tracked his hockey career since he was sixteen, that doesn’t mean she’s obsessed with him! He only hate-listens to the podcast because it’s so terrible—not because Kate is hot and hilarious and she wasted a decade of her life on a guy who didn’t deserve her.
Now that Kate is finally single, their chemistry is ablaze and no ice rink is safe from melting.
The small town of Kenton, BC isn’t big enough to hold all the tension between these rivals, so their family and teammates set up a Valentine’s date charity auction to finally get them together. As the whole town watches on, the hope is that their fiery banter doesn’t burn down Main Street.

Kate and Adam were my absolute favorites.
Their whole “we hate each other” routine was hilarious because it was painfully obvious that everyone around them knew what was really going on. The banter was fantastic, the chemistry was off the charts, and I loved how the entire town seemed determined to get these two together. This one gave me all the cheesy rom-com feelings in the best possible way, with plenty of laughs, swoon, spice, and heart.
I finished it with the biggest smile and honestly could have read so much more of Kate and Adam.

The second novella in the Quick Pucks series, this is a short (97 pages), funny enemies-to-lovers romance.
Adam and Kate were in high school together and have hated each other almost as long. He is an ex-NHL player who now plays in their small-town local league, while she runs a hockey podcast with her brothers where she trolls Adam constantly. After years of snark and bickering, Kate has broken off her long-term relationship and is single for the first time in ten years, and things are about to change.
When their friends and family have had enough of them ignoring the obvious and dancing around each other, they get set up on a Valentine’s date during a charity auction. They may hate each other, but there is definitely attraction there and it’s the perfect opportunity for some very entertaining hate-flirting. And with the whole town watching and hilariously cheering them on, all of those years of pent-up tension turn into a whole different kind of chemistry.
It’s a fun set-up with enjoyable characters, sharp banter, and lots of funny moments. The love story has a great sense of inevitability about it, their chemistry is sizzling, and the sexy time is wild. They argue through it all, of course, but neither of them can deny how much they want each other, or their long-buried feelings, and I love watching the shift.
Being such a short read, the story moves at a fast pace, so there’s not a lot of time to get really invested. The involvement of their friends, family, and random people from around the town is fun, and there is a romantic climax that has a fabulous nod to some of my favourite 90s romcoms, which left me with a smile on my face.
A quick, enjoyable read – 3 stars.

It’s a fun set-up with enjoyable characters, sharp banter, and lots of funny moments. 10 Things I Skate About You was such a cute and fun follow-up! I loved the chemistry between the characters, and the banter made this one so easy to fly through. The romance had plenty of sweet moments, tension, and spice, which kept me invested from beginning to end. 🥰🏒💕
I think I enjoyed the first book just a little more, but this one was still such an entertaining read. If you love hockey romances with fun characters, good chemistry, and a little spice, definitely add this one to your TBR! 📚✨

10 Things I Skate About You, by Kayley Loring, was such a fun follow-up to Net and Chill! Give me two grumpy people who have spent years insisting they cannot stand each other while simultaneously paying WAY too much attention to everything the other person does, and I am immediately invested. Kate and Adam have been competing, arguing, teasing, and irritating each other since high school, and all of that history creates some fantastic enemies-to-lovers tension.
Adam Foley, a former NHL player turned local beer-league captain, and Kate Pogue is a local podcaster known for trolling him. I loved Kate and Adam together. Kate roasting Adam on the hockey podcast she hosts with her brothers, complete with an impressive collection of nicknames for him, was hilarious!! Meanwhile, Adam claims to hate-listen while apparently keeping very close track of everything Kate says. Sure, you two absolutely hate each other. Completely believable. 😂 Their banter, competitiveness, and obvious attraction made their eventual collision very satisfying.
The book gives a nod to one of my favorite teen movies, 10 Things I Hate About You. It was one of my absolute favorites. There was so much more heart beneath the comedy than I expected. Both characters have histories that influenced where they ended up, with Kate stepping away from competitive figure skating and Adam's NHL career ending after an injury. I enjoyed seeing two people who have known each other for so long finally begin looking beyond the assumptions they have built around one another. The small-town setting, meddling family and friends, hockey atmosphere, and Valentine's charity auction added even more fun to their story.
If you love enemies-to-lovers, mutual pining disguised as irritation, hockey romance, small towns, and two stubborn people who are clearly the last ones to realize they're obsessed with each other, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

This short novella is following Adam, a former NHL player but not playing in the beer-league and Kate, movement coach and podcaster. Adam and Kate have a long history of clashing. Kate is constantly roasting Adam on her podcast. When Kate is set up to bid on a date with Adam at a charity auction she finds herself stuck with him for Valentine's day. As they navigate their date, their banter, chemistry and growing attraction lead to steamy moments and revelations.
For this second book in the Quick Pucks series I'm going to say the same as I did for the first. The smut is the plot, with a little bit of a story to go with it. If this is not your thing, you won't enjoy this story.
This story is full of dry sense of humor. The banter between Adam and Kate is top notch. Their constant bickering works well for their dynamic.
I loved the reference to the movie 10 things I hate about you, that gave it a fun nostalgic touch.
Unfortunately this book moves too quick for me to fully enjoy the story. The book rushes through key moments and misses character development. It also made the quick shift from enemies to lovers feel unrealistic.
Nevertheless, this book is a fun and flirty short read.

Kate and her brothers have a podcast where all the locals listen to them talk about everything hockey. Their main topic of discussion seems to always be about Adam Foley, who plays for Kenton’s local hockey team the Ice breakers. Kate and Adam have always gotten under each others skin. Especially since theyre always fighting over their morning skate time at the local ice rink and the fact that Adam doesn't like the teams logo and Kate loves it. One of the towns families is throwing a charity auction for the childrens hospital and Kate's brothers are emceeing the event. Adam has to go for representing the Icebreakers hockey team and is auctioning off a date with himself for this years prize. Kate wins the date with Adam. The next day after practice, the guys are all joking around with Adam about his date. The team make a bet with Adam that if he can get Kate to kiss him in public they will work on changing their logo. Adam takes the bet. Kaye and Adam go on their date and realize their true feelings for each other. Eventually Kate finds out about the bet and she breaks things off. Adam ropes her brothers in for a public groveling.
While this story was short, it was very similar to 10 Things I Hate About You which happens to be one of my favorite movies and so I really enjoyed reading this story and the poem was perfect.

After loving the first novella, there was no way I wasn't picking up the second one right away.
10 Things I Skate About You gave me exactly what I love about Kayley Loring's books. It was fun, entertaining, funny, and impossible not to smile through.
Kate and Adam were such a great match. Adam is a hockey player, and Kate hosts a podcast where she spends her time criticizing him as both a player and a person. The best part? He absolutely loves getting under her skin, and honestly, she enjoys being "mad" at him just as much. Their banter was hilarious, their chemistry was obvious from the start, and I loved watching them dance around their feelings.
I loved how well they fit together, both professionally and personally. They challenged each other, made each other laugh, and brought out the best in one another.
And yes... I have to mention Kate's red hair because come on, redheads are the best!

When the audiobook was finally released, I listened to it immediately. I've heard both Rose Dioro and Ryan West before, so I already knew I loved their voices. But narrating a Kayley Loring book takes much more than a great voice. Her humor, timing, and unforgettable characters require real talent, and they absolutely nailed it. Their performances were phenomenal, and even though I already loved this story, the audiobook made me fall in love with it even more.
Kayley has such a special way of writing romance. Her books are funny, heartfelt, effortlessly sexy, and full of characters who feel like real people. I'm having so much fun with this series, and I already can't wait to keep going.

In fact, things quickly turn from icy to scorching hot in one single night and those long-restrained feelings can’t be checked. I loved these two characters and their chemistry driven tension, the top-tier banter (as Adam says), the town and its cleverly-named businesses (I wish that For Goodness Steak was a real place!), and everything else about his wonderful novella.
The audiobook is truly the ideal way to experience it all. Rose Diorio and Ryan West give amazing performances that will make you fall head over heels for Adam and Kate. Rose has the most beautiful singing voice which is the icing on the narration cake of her heartfelt and winning performance. Ryan’s portrayal of Adam’s cocky but soft-hearted nature is top notch and so swoon worthy. This bantery, steamy, delightful audiobook is a must listen!

Quick Pucks series had such sexy, funny, kicking your feet giggling, and swoony vibes! Think 90s and early 2000s romcoms that we LOVE. 🫶 The men were SO smooth. The women were hilarious! At times, I thought the MMCs were flirting WITH me, I blushed so hard!!! I had to pause so many times to compose myself. 🫣👀

Quick Pucks series had such sexy, funny, kicking your feet giggling, and swoony vibes! Think 90s and early 2000s romcoms that we LOVE. 🫶 The men were SO smooth. The women were hilarious! At times, I thought the MMCs were flirting WITH me, I blushed so hard!!! I had to pause so many times to compose myself. 🫣👀

Never a good sign for a novella when I feel like it's dragging and the book is only 97 pages long. I love 10 Things I Hate About You and I appreciate the attempt to bring it to a book form. But...this was an ambitious attempt for a novella. It would be hard for a full length novel, it's definitely not working for this novella.
I kind of hate the characters. Because it's a novella, you don't have the time to get a lot of character development. And their "hatred" of each other doesn't make sense. Like, why does Kate just absolutely hate on Adam? Did something happen with them? Part of what makes 10 Things I Hate work is because of the secondary story with Kat's sister. We don't have that plot line in the novella. Instead, you're left with two characters who "hate" each other and a town that is rooting to see them together. And Adam doesn't actually hate Kate - he's BIG time in love with her.
The "bet" doesn't make sense, either. It's just thrown in there for the plot but it's neither well developed or needed. It's just to get Kate to be mad at Adam and for Adam to do something to win her back.
Again, this maybe could have been a great full length book but it flops for me as a novella. I wouldn't recommend picking it up.

I liked this book more than the first one. I liked that it was a hate-to-lovers trope. Even though I couldn’t understand why FMC hated MMC to begin with. That did feel a little forced but I liked that her brothers on the podcast call it out versus treating it as normal.
The infatuation with butts was present in this novella probably more so than book one. It made it hard to get a feel for the characters individually because everyone likes butts and everyone likes mentioning that they like butts.
I liked that this book utilized text messages to show more about the characters and their relationships. A problem I had with book one was the dialogue and feeling like things were said explicitly in narration too much. The text chains showed me more which I appreciated.
There were moments of cringe that were just cringe rather than be funny or endearing. Maybe I’m just not the right reader for the kind of humor this author has.

10 Things I Skate About You is a playful nod to the iconic 1999 film starring Heath Ledger, and as someone who absolutely adores that movie, my expectations were sky-high. I’m so happy to say it didn’t disappoint!
This hockey-themed romance follows Kate, who appears to have nothing but disdain for Andrew—until she wins a date with him at a charity auction. From there, the sparks begin to fly, the tension builds, and let’s just say things quickly heat up… 🌶️
Yes, it’s a storyline you can spot coming from a mile away, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. The chemistry is irresistible, the banter is entertaining, and it’s the perfect feel-good, spicy read when you’re in the mood for something fun, flirty, and easy to devour.
If you’re a fan of hockey romances, rom-com vibes, and plenty of spice, this novella is definitely worth adding to your TBR!

10 things I skate about you is the next in Kayley Loring's Quick Pucks Novella. The title was really witty and will immediately grab your attention. Like the first book, the humor of the novella was really the one that made me read this. It was a very quick read but I never felt like it was lacking something in it.
The story reminded me so much of 10 Things I hate about you. My love for that also carried over to this one. The tropes weren't really that unique BUT I really loved how it was executed. I loved how Kate and Adam started the story not liking each other with Kate being one of his dedicated critic and a lot more times as a basher. Despite the overused tropes, I still really really loved reading their banter. I loved how the conflict was resolved, it really got me kicking my feet in the air.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book, the characters, and the chemistry between them. That being said, there were a few moments when the FMC frustrated me a little. At times, her intense dislike of him felt a bit over the top, yet she wants him between her legs, and I found myself wishing there was a stronger reason behind it. It didn't ruin the story for me, but it did make it a little harder to understand her perspective in those moments

This is the second of three hockey romance novellas.
I really enjoyed this novella, it was fast paced and I’m really enjoying Kayley writing style. I haven’t watched the movie 10 things I hate about you (I know I’m sorry 😬) but this book really felt like I was watching a 2000’s rom com, and I loved that.
I also loved the spicy parts and how Adam and Kate were true enemies to lovers. Their bickering and banter was so funny to me and made it more enjoyable (I love enemies to lovers books), it was so obvious they liked eachother, and I’m happy they finally admitted it and got together.
The bet part I didn’t 100% like, but other then that I loved it.
Out of the two novellas so far this is 100% my favourite one.
I also really like how each of the novellas has a name/theme that’s a play on a Rom com. I think that’s really fun.
The next review will be on the last novella in this book.

I definitely had higher hopes going into the second novella because I do love 10 things i hate about you! That feeling of, does she hate him or does she hate how much she wants him? That level of tension is next level and i'm happy to say Kayley delivered on that front! The subtle references to the film was the cherry on the cake, really bringing Kate and Adam's story to life. However, similar to Net and Chill, it was the writing style that wasn't working for me personally. I appreciate that it's supposed to be fun and unserious but it was a little too comical in some parts for my liking.

“10 Things I Skate About You” is a fun, flirty and steamy spin-off of “10 Things I Hate About You” but with a hockey twist. It might have seemed like hate at first but as I was reading, I could feel the attraction they had for each other. Kate is a no nonsense kind of person and I loved that about her. She's a grumpy figure skater and makes no apologies for who she is and why she won’t compete on a national level. But Adam is just as grumpy as her and since her interview on her brother’s podcast where she trolls him went viral, she has been on his radar. Their banter was fantastic and had me cracking up. I loved how some nosey nellies got involved to push these two together because they were too stubborn to admit they liked each other. Overall this was a fun novella to read.

This is my first Kayley Loring book and I was pleasant surprised by how fun and creative they were. You will love these if you are a movie lover, specifically 90s movies. All three novellas were enjoyable and the sweetest and somehow deeply romantic stories. The second book, 10 Things I Skate about you was my favourite, as I absolutely love that movie. I love the flirty yet hate banter between Kate and Adam. The whole town was routing for them and they were fighting it so hard. Each story was unique and had great characters. I love the link of the Hockey team and I want more Novellas from this team. All three novellas are just over 200 pages so you can binge these between your next read. The covers are fun and colourful and the stories are easy to read.

First, I loved the title because 10 Things I Hate About You is an all time favorite movie of mine! After finishing reading the first novella I needed to read this one next. I jumped right back into the Quick Pucks world. I enjoyed this second installment so very much!
Adam and Kate's journey captured my attention right from the start! Kate is a figure skater and podcaster. Adam is the center for the Icebreakers beer league. The moment Kate and Adam collided at the rink I was so into their story! The grumpy goodness of these two shined. From the podcast stuff to rink time, I enjoyed that there was so much history between them.
Adam and Kate got to each other in so many ways! They both loved being on the ice and I really enjoyed what all that brought to their story. Their back and forth banter was so good as was there chemistry. I adored seeing so much more ignite between the two of them. I for sure felt a lot with Kate and Adam!
I was happy to be back in the Quick Pucks world!

Another Brilliant Hockey Novella from Kayley Loring.
Which once again I adored reading.

This read gave me such warm fuzzy feelings as it gave me flashbacks to watching 10 Things I hate about you when it came out in 1999. That movie is a masterpiece and there's no arguing against it allowed!
I really enjoyed Adam's character and his POV. He truly did just want to get her attention! Although Kate was dealing with a breakup with an a-hole of a guy, I feel like she gave Adam too much hate without even getting to know him properly.
Him shooting his shot certainly caught her off guard, but his proclamation in the end was the cherry on top!
This is a really fun, quick, and nostalgia inducing read for all millennials who loved 90s romcoms!

Kate and Adam have spent years feuding over early morning ice time and it comes to a head at a charity auction where sparks fly but we know there’s a fine line between love and hate and maybe this couple feel more than they are prepared to admit about each other……
This may be a quick read but it’s entertaining and fun with characters I fell hard and fast for. The chemistry is sizzling, the banter is witty and I found myself cheering this couple on with a big smile on my face.
