About the author

Günther Anders (born Günther Siegmund Stern) was a German philosopher, journalist, essayist and poet. He was trained in the phenomenological tradition, he developed a philosophical anthropology for the age of technology, focusing on such themes as the effects of mass media on our emotional and ethical existence, the illogic of religion, the nuclear threat, the Shoah, and the question of being a philosopher. In 1992, shortly before his death, Günther Anders was awarded the Sigmund Freud Prize.

Secondo volume del lavoro di Anders sul rapporto uomo-macchina.

Pubblicato quasi trent'anni dopo il primo volume, il secondo ha uno stile più narrativo: Anders, in 25 saggi tematici, ricostruisce la storia del progresso tecnologico-industriale, dimostrando sempre di più che le macchine non ci hanno mai soppiantato né voluto farlo, ma siamo invece noi che abbiamo arbitrariamente deciso di abdicare in loro favore al nostro ruolo di soggetti della Storia.

Cet avis vaut pour les deux tomes.
Lecture difficile, à plusieurs sens. Parfois les textes sont un peu obscurs au premier abord (je ne suis pas un lecteur habituel de philosophie), notamment avec les justifications d'un système de pensée ou d'une approche méthodologique. Les contenus sont à l'inverse très pertinents, mais très pessimistes également (et ma lecture en 2025 à l'ère des contenus IA et d'algorithme de scrolling n'arrange pas les choses).

Imprescindibile quanto il primo volume. Il discorso di Anders sul ruolo della tecnologia qui tocca molti aspetti della vita quotidiana, del lavoro e del senso del progetto umano. Se possibile, il tono si fa ancora più cupo. Apprezzabilissimo il lavoro sullo stile, per nulla accademico e a portata di chiunque (come in fondo è giusto che sia per un libro dai messaggi così centrali per il destino dell'umanità).
