Ember #2

Ember - Part Two

Rate this book
The second part of EMBER, a three-part series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Deborah Bladon.

Bridget Grant has never met anyone like Dane Beckett. He has been her savior and the more time they've spent together, the more she has realized that he sees only the best in her. He's pushed her to take the steps she needs to in order to change her life and just as she's on the brink of making her dreams come true, it all comes to a screeching, and horrifying, halt.

As Bridget begins to pick up the pieces of her life after a terrifying accident, Dane is right by her side. He offers her the comfort she needs and the more time they spend together, the more she realizes that he's everything she's ever wanted.

His past hangs over both of their heads, stalling the promise of what might be. Bridget worries that she'll lose the only man she's ever truly cared for to a woman she's never even met. She knows she needs to be careful, but her heart is guiding her in a direction she knows she may regret.

When Dane finally makes a decision that will clear the path for the two of them, Bridget is forced to face the shocking truth about the man who she's been sharing her bed with and the life he abandoned the night he met her.

Note: This ends in a cliffhanger. The final part will be released within the next few weeks.

Deborah Bladon has never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She's a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you can often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan is definitely her second home.

She cherishes her family and believes that each day is a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.

** DNF @14% **

DANE: “Do you want me to stop at the market on my way over tomorrow?”

BRIDGET: “No. I’ll go myself.”

DANE: “YOU’RE SO INDEPENDENT.

Nope. NO MORE.

Do I even need to explain the reason for my DNF any further?

I give up, guys. I'm finally parting ways with this author...

We had a crazy ride together, lady. Thank you for your earlier wonderful works! :)

And the mystery continues. It feels like reading a suspense novel instead of romance. I like Miss Bladon' s writing. She did not put too much detail or multiple plot into her story.

I usually do not like bland plot, but with Ember part two, somehow I am very greatfull the writing is much simpler without sacrificing too much of the suspense.

Who is Dane? What is his story wih Measy? What is his true feeling toward Bridget? It seems he loves her and cares for her very much. The story is told from Bridget's POV. Through Bridget, I can feel her doubt and her struggle to get to know Dane. Our mysterious hero.

The story ends with cliffhanger....

I can't even with this cliffhanger. Really struggling to even care about what happens with the Hero, Dane, now. Months...MONTHS to fill the girl that he has been sleeping with in on what is happening in his life and he hasn't said anything. Not only that, he, in my opinion flat, out lied to Bridget about his past. This is one "misunderstanding" that I'm not sure as a reader I can look past.
I love Deborah's writing and stories, but this is seriously messed up. Withholding something like Dane has is just too much for me. I will read part 3 because I want to know how he plans to freaking grovel and beg and explain how he can be such a withholding piece of poop. Also side note. Bridget knows at least two people that are close to him and they never thought to give the poor girl a heads up? or idk just not continually tell her what a great guy he is and that "he's one of the good ones"?

I was excited to read the second part of this story as the first part ended as a cliff hanger.

The story of Bridget and Dane continues after the terrible accident which puts Bridget in hospital.
In the first part I thought that Dane's character was strong and heroic and that Bridget was a woman that was on the look out for love, but my opinion changed in part two.

Bridget is such a strong woman. She could have easily fallen head over heels in love with Dane, but no, she's tries to keep her drawing and dreams of being an artist to the for-front of her mind. She is inspiring.

The author introduces a new character into the story which makes you believe she is someone that Bridget should not trust. Right until the very end of the story you are still questioning this friendship, but ends in such a shock.

I cannot wait to see what happens to the couple.

Ember Part two picks up right where we left off in Part One. Dane and Bridget are together taking it slowly when the unthinkable happens. She's in an accident but it ends up bringing them closer together. Dane still has some secrets that I ended up finding out. It was sort of expected but still shocked to a degree. It's kept me on my toes through out. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Oh wow if I thought the last cliffhanger was powerful. This is beyond painful. I am a crying, heart pounding mess. The only thing going around in my mind is Why? Why would he do such a thing? I am so mad right now. I need the next book and answers because I am in a very bad and sad mood right now...

I'm hooked. Storyline is interesting and full of suspense. I'm not even here for the smut anymore. What is Dane not telling Bridget? I can't wait for the reveal. Gimme the truth! I need to know!

To be honest, this author's writing has me on the edge of my seat. The plot twists are just wow.

I can accept a book with a flawed heroine but not a book with lying hero. So hard to categorize this book.

I still can't believe none of their common friends told her about such a big issue. Wth.

Bridget and Dane are getting more close to each other, after her accident, but the mistery of Dane's ex-girlfriend is always there. He doesn't open up with himself about his past and that makes Bridget's decision to keep her feelings secret than be opened up and regret it after. At the back of her mind it's always the fact that Dane will be change his mind and get back to his ex soon.

Although, Bridget see's that Dane is the one and only for her, she hasn't invest her life on that. She tries to get physically better after the accident and invest time for her future as an artist. However, she can't stay away from Dane's pull; the man's truly love her and shows it with every fiber of his being. Until, their moment of intimacy broke into pieces after the news of an unborn child swing above their relationship.

Ember part2, was more interesting, intence and heartbroken. It was a bit twisty (if this could be the write word to describe it) from Dane's side because at some point I thought Deborah was playing with my mind and feelings. I truly had second thoughts about Dane and where the story is going to end at some points during part 2. Couldn't leave it in the side until I start reading part 3; especially when it ended again with a big enigma and so many questions about what had happen now and what next!

Wow!! That ending was just too much!! Dane's ex-girlfriend is disabled, pregnant, and still livin in the house where she had fairytale dreams of forever happily after smdh. If that ain't some wild shit to know you've had an intimate and pleasurable moment with a stranger, and you're the reason that person has lost the hopes of a better future. Dane should've explained his shit better why the house was such a problem if a baby was involved. I wonder if that's the only reason he stayed in the relationship, and was goin to propose to Maisy. I believe Bridget feels guilty knowin this woman personally before meeting Dane, then tryin to make her a non-factor during their relationship when now she knows Maisy has been a big factor all along. Geez I need a glass of wine like Zoe for this drama lol!!

Jaw Dropping!

Deborah Bladon is without question an amazingly gifted writer. Once again she has offered us characters that are so interesting and touching that you can't help but fall in love with. Then, the evil genius that she is, she leads you down one path, that seems totally logical, only to sucker punch you in the twelfth hour. Bridget is a struggling artist who has caught the eye of Dane the handsome firemen who happened into her life just as she struggling to make changes. Bridget knew Dane about the legal issues with his home and ex-girlfriend because Dane has been completely open about those issues!!......Bridget's discovery will leave you saying WTF.........

Another great one!!

The second in the series and it's a zinger!! Talk about a page turner!! It was a fast paced, easy read.....but then it stopped in true Ms Bladon style! I'm really wondering about Dane now....is he really the good guy everyone thinks? I feel so bad for Bridget now, not really knowing whether to give her heart away or not......heavy sigh, only the next book will tell. In the meantime the sex scenes where really HOT and juicy as usual!!!! I just love, love, love Ms Bladon's wonderful sex scenes.....oh so steamy and melty. Mahalo Deborah for another wonderfully written creation!! Can't wait for the next one!!

Ember, part 2

OMG, I am so excited for bk.3, I don't even know what to say, I was so excited in the beginning, that Brigette was recovering from her accident, Dane was so supportive, helpful, and they appeared so good together. But there was still the issue of his ex residing in his house, so what is it about Maisy that he isn't saying, something is up, then Vanessa comes over and see's a pic she has painted and I have no words, I am truly speechless. You must read this book, awesome.

Ok, here is the thing about Deborah Bladon's books: I love them. But this one was… Just wow. When it comes to her books you always get the sense that there's going to be an HEA and you know you will find it in book 3. But that's not the best parts of her books. The best parts are the cliffhangers at the ends of book 1 and book 2, no matter what series of hers you are reading. And the cliffhanger in this book… Holy shit! I always try to see if I can guess what it is going to be and I was nowhere close with this one. I need book 3 NOW!

Wow, just wow. The only ending, wow!

Part two to Ember was good. I even thought I had figured some things to come but boy was I so wrong and amazed. Deborah has you turning the pages and even turning back. I so love to see Zoe and Vanessa again. Not to mention hearing about Ben and his continuing care of patients above and beyond. I also think Harper will be making more appearances. Some editing issues that are usually not an issue do appear but you can easily work them out.

Did they send you to school for these cliffhangers? Bladon and HM Ward to get together and have a series finishing party!

I have to say I'm quite shocked and disappointed in Dane. I think we're probably going to find out Harper is also involved in this somehow like a past girlfriend that he has decided it being to rekindle with. Anyway you look at it Bridget is out for a serious fall. It sounds to me like this is more of a brushfire then an ember waiting to burn out. One of the good ones my a$$!!!!

What can I say

She pretty much guaranteed that I will buy part 3 with this kind of ending. However , next time I will not start a series from her without all of them being released. My heart can't take it. Thankfully , she does not let you wait years like Sylvia Day. I know the cliffhanger is shocking but keep in mind that with Deborah Bladen books , it never is what it seems so I am hoping that he will not be this douche . Or better yet I am sure he won't be. Please don't let me eat my words.

This is the 2nd third if the Ember novel. I don't understand why authors & publishers think it is appropriate to publish small sections of a novel separately. Regardless, I read all three of the parts and simply did not like the writing. It reads like a student project on writing erotica. The characters were one dimensional, the love scenes were **** scenes. There was no romance involved. The secondary characters were one dimensional. The only reason I read all three sections is because I bought them as a bundle and they are very quick reads.

Bridget Parker is going to need time to recover from her run in with a police her. The good news is that her accident has brought her art notoriety. As the demand for her sketches increases, her relationship with Dane stalls. She could see herself falling for him, but Dane is still not done with his past. His ex still leaves at his home and the secrets he refuses to share are suffocating her. When a sick twist of fate brings their pasts together, Bridget must recognize her part in the destruction of his ex's dreams and of her own. A cliffhanger that will change everything...

Ah ha! Now that’s what I call a cliffhanger. In my review of Ember part one I mentioned that these two characters have lots of sex but never have an in depth discussion about their lives which sets up Bladon’s penchant for her trademark cliffhangers. Unfortunately the poor storytelling and the shallow character development kept me from trusting Dane and I wasn’t mistaken in my hesitation. I long for great writing from this author and I’m intrigued enough to pick up book 3 but so far this story has been somewhat disappointing as I mentioned in my review of book one.

OMG! I just finished Ember part 2 and the ending completely through me for a loop. The whole way through the book I thought Dane's Maisy was one person and it turns out that it isn't. What is Bridge going to do now? I so can't wait till book 3 comes out. What a great cliffhanger? It completely broke my heart at the end for Bridge. I hoped Dane didn't have alot of baggage when it came to Maisy but I guess I was wrong, I still feel sorry for him but my heart is broken for Bridge.

OMFG ...no idea where Deborah is taking us with this one but am buckled up for the ride. I always hold my breathe while reading her books because I know then the moment hits its usually unexpected and a mouth wide open..did not expect that to happen. Well Dane surely has some explaining to do in part 3 that's for sure! Looking forward to it.

In true Deborah Bladon style this story had it all! Steamy sex scenes , great characters and the perfect amount of angst! Aaaaand of course like most of Deborah's stories the cliff hanger is jaw-dropping! Love all her stories and I'm so thankful the wait for the next instalment isn't long but I'd like it now!!!!

OMG what a cliff hanger I have to wait 4 days to find out what happens. I feel so bad for Bridget. I can't even imagine how Dane will explain. Bridget keep telling herself to listen to her head not her heart. Can't wait to read book 3. Another excellent book by Deborah Bladon. I hope this has a Happy Ending
