5 STARS (more if possible)
Wow, freaking wow, I absolutely loved this from the first page right the way through to the end..

As the title would give a clue, this is about Phantoms and their team of investigators, they investigate ghosts and paranormal activities. The main characters are Kerry Baker and Paul Leake, they are best friends and as part of the Phantom Team, have worked close together for 6 years.

The team consisted of Kerry, Paul, Sammy, Lee, Terrance, Amir, Tom and Earl. They are like a family unit, all friendly and enjoyed their work. At a meeting at the main headquarters of Phantoms, their boss Elise informed them they had a new team member his name Cain McClutchen, and he would be joining them on their new assignment. The assignment is a deserted town ( a ghost town).

Kerry has suffered bad with migraines, and Paul is her hero, he helps her cope when her headaches appear, but can Paul help her when her Doppelganger appears?

To be truthful this story had me by the seat of my pants from the start, I was awake till 4am reading as I could not put the story down. Page after page I kept turning, wanting more and more. There are plenty shocks and surprises in store, the descriptive elements in the book were perfect, you could feel the hair on the back of your neck stand up at times. I was sad, happy, fearful, all of these and more!!!

The Author has done such a terrific job with this book and I for one will be patiently waiting on the next book to arrive on the shelves

Kerry is the fave of Phantoms the beauty everyone wants a piece of. She has a dysfunctional family back in Atlantic that has made her perfect in every aspect, especially her looks. Best friend Paul is always there for her when she needs him, this time he gets a call in the night when Kerry has a fright of her life. She comes face to face with a doppelganger. Not understanding this phenomena, she worries. After 6 long years of being best friends, feelings she didnt know existed come to live. But with the contract of the tv show, will their feelings follow through?
An investigation brings this to the middle of the Arizona desert to an abandoned village. With derelict buildings and a mega history, will Phantoms be able to crack the case of the haunting that resides there? Will the horrifying Doppelganger make another appearance?

Oh boy...This story blew my mind and gave me serious nightmares! I learnt something new, doppelgangers, and felt I was on the same emotion wavelength as Kerry most of the way through. The ending made me cry also. I can't wait for this to be release so everyone else can feel how I feel at this moment. As always, Kelly Moran and NAILED it. From the beginning, this story hooks you and takes to places only you can ever dream about.

Phantoms Fan Forever!

If you loved GHOST OF A PROMISE, do yourself a favor and just buy this book. Chances are you had already started rooting for Kerry and Paul during Jackson and Ava's book and not only is this going to fill that need, it's going to introduce Jackson's replacement. So, so stinking good.

If you're new to the series and your tastes tend to lean more into the urban fantasy shelves because you love a solid paranormal plot you have got to read the Phantoms novels. You could easily start here with GIVE UP THE GHOST and go back if you want some of the small and potentially confusing details cleared up. This is one time that I don't think reading out of order will be a big issue. Paul and Kerry are such a fabulous couple, quite opposite in many ways but their friendship is sweet and I was dying for them to get together. Moran made sure it was one of the most hard won HEA's I think I have ever read. Seriously, everything was against them!

I was pleasantly surprised that Moran managed to pull of geeky Paul without going into ridiculous stereotypes, with nerdy heroes that can be a tough balance. She did wonderfully! Paul's attention to detail definitely translates beyond his historical research job and into the love scenes. If you're not frothing for a nerd of your own after reading them I wanna know!

From start to finish it's a wonderful mix of ghost investigation, team work, and romance. I loved it and I think anyone who enjoys those three elements will too.

Some adrenaline junkies turn to speed or dangerous sports like jumping off bridges to get their rush. The Phantoms team, television paranormal investigators, prefer to "taunt ghosts."
After their last investigation, team leader Jackson decided to try settling down with the owner of a haunted B&B in Maine. As the remaining crew prepares to start a new season, they are joined by a new on camera guy, handpicked by the producers to appeal to their devoted audience. Long time cast member Sammy is chosen to be the new team leader.
For six years Paul and Kerry worked side by side, becoming best friends. The Phantom team feels like family but are the feelings between certain team members affection of a different sort? The show has a zero tolerance policy regarding dating other cast members.

Kerry Baker has a history of migraines but seemed to have them under control, until the night before the new season and the first investigation with new crew member Cain. That night she experiences what is later described as a Doppelganger Haunting - a premonition of danger, most likely death, very near to whomever is visited. The investigation site is a ghost town abandoned over a century ago and still far removed from any modern conveniences. Both physical and paranormal dangers stalk the Phantom's team. They find evidence of three haunted events, one of which may be tied to a present day treasure hunt.

This is a pulse pounding paranormal adventure that will have you reading faster and faster while holding your breath. The steamy moments will also affect your heart and respiration rates.
Will the team come away from the first show intact? What message does the doppelganger want Kerry to decipher?

I received this novel in exchange for my honest review.
I can't wait for this series to continue.
It combines paranormal adventure with steamy romance and includes the best characters a reader can fall for. A great escape from daily life. Better than tv ghost hunting shows.

and HERE IS MY HONEST REVIEW. If I could give this book more that 5 stars I definitely would.It's that great.
~~~~~~The Story is the second in the Phantoms series.
It is AMAZING .If not for work I would have read it straight through.I kept thinking I couldn't wait to get home to read more. Paul and Kerry are my new favorite couple.One thing after another seems to plague the team not just the original haunting they had been sent to check out.There is Kerry's Doppelganger,a sink hole and a pretty vicious entity, just to name a few.
The book has some intense scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat .Literally.
I loved joining the characters on their journey of professional and personal discovery.
All of the scenes regarding the sight they were investigating were so detailed I could picture them all.~~~~~~Kelly Moran has another five star read that I recommend to all lovers of the paranormal.This is a stand alone story,however I urge you to check out the first book Ghost of a Promise ~ only $2.99 and worth every penny.
You hit another must-read novel, Ms. Moran. In Give Up The Ghost, it quickly captivated me and left me engrossed in a story I had to finish in one reading.
The Phantom team is at it again. This story features best friends Kerry Baker and Paul Leake who wish for more but are afraid of losing the close friendship they have. As things progress, Kerry sees her doppelganger which is a premonition of death to herself or someone close to her.
Ms. Moran has a gift for bringing the characters emotions to life, making you feel a part of the story. The story was perfectly paced with intrigue, romance, surprises and steamy scenes that will keep you reading well past your bedtime. Be prepared, you will fall in love with the characters and want to help them along the way.
Once I started this book I could not put it down. So far, I love this Phantoms series. This book focused on the relationship between Kerry and Paul, two best friends. I loved the tension between them and that neither of them wanted to ruin the friendship. There were a couple of times when I almost threw my Kindle against the wall due to both the internal and external conflicts these characters faced. There were a couple of times where I wanted to reach in and smack them both upside the head. I did love them both none the less and happily rode the emotional roller coaster with them. I am so happy that this is a serious and I am left wondering what I am going to do until the next one. I can hardly wait!
Happy Release Day!!!
As I said about book one in the series, Ghost of a Promise, I don't read stuff that is scary. This time, again, the hairs on my arms stood up a time or two! I loved that Ms. Moran said in her author's notes that her sisters don't read this kind of stuff either, but they do read HERS. I guess I can be an honorary sister, because I'm with them. The romance is foremost, with the scary bits riding alongside. That's doable, um, readable!
This book continues with the Phantoms TV Show team. Jackson left at the end of the first book, and they have a new person on the team, Cain. It was heavily foreshadowed that Cain and Sammy will be the MCs for the next book, and I'm looking forward to it.
We start with Kerry seeing her doppelganger staring creepily at her from outside her window. She freaks out and Paul (who has been in love with her for six years) comes to help calm her down. He's about at the end of his patience. She just doesn't SEE him. Yes, they are best friends, but he needs her to see him as more.
The doppelganger opens her eyes. But when Cain, who's read about the phenomenon, tells the crew what the doppelganger foretells, well, they are all beyond worried. Like they need something else to focus on as they research a haunted deserted gold mining town.
Once again, there are ghostly encounters that were a bit scary! There were also close calls with rattlesnakes and bats. The bat scene? I laughed so hard! So, there aren't just scary bits, whew!
I enjoyed Give Up the Ghost very much. I highly recommend this to lovers of romance...with paranormal fun.
Thank you, Netgalley and Entangled, for the opportunity to read this book.
5 Ghostly Stars!!!
Kelly Moran is one heck of a writer, she makes you feel everything the main characters are feeling. This book is no exception, I honestly felt like I was right there, going through the emotions that Kerry was going through. Its intense and may cause some nightmares. So if you scare easy don't read this at night, but DO read it! I was hooked from page one and didn't not want the book to end, by the time I reached the end I was crying and left wanting more.
This book follows Kerry Baker and Paul Leake. Kerry is a Paranormal investigator, Paul is the team historian.
Kerry has seen it all or thought she had but nothing in her work with the Phantoms team prepares her for the most terrifying ghost of all―seeing her doppelganger. Rumored to be a foreshadowing of one's death This sends Kerry into the arms of her best friend Paul, who has been in love with Kerry for years. One Kiss will change everything.
The team does everything to try to keep Kerry safe but can they truly achieve that goal with everything going on in Arizona at their new job site.
There are several things that stand in the way of Kerry and Paul becoming a couple, the couple that they want to be. The family that Paul wants to be with Kerry. Can the two overcome everything thrown their way both at the filming site and with issues from the bosses.
This is a must read in my opinion, so one click this on May 26th
This book can be read as a standalone but do your self a favor and get book one Ghost of a Promise.. you will want to read that one as well.
I look forward to the next book!!
Kerry Baker is a paranormal investigator on the Phantoms team but seeing her doppelgänger is terryfying. Freaked out by the experience she called her team mate and best friend, Paul Leake. When they learn that doppelgängers usually foretell the death of the person seeing them or someone close to them Paul and the team are determined to protect Kerry - but the phantoms have other plans for her. Paul and Kerry are attracted to each other but resist because they don’t want to spoil their friendship - and their contracts forbid relationships between team members. With all the additional trauma, worry and pressure will they let love conquer all? What does the doppelgänger really warn about? Can they all heed the warnings and survive to achieve their HEA?
What a totally different and highly enjoyable fast paced and totally spooky tale! Great characters - including the phantoms - lots of mystery, angst and turmoil to keep readers enthralled from start to finish and brilliantly written. I’ll definitely be looking out for more by this author in future!
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC from the publisher for my honest review.
This book follows Kerry and Paul. They have been best friends for 6 years and now they are willing to take their relationship to the next level. But they have obstacles they need to over come if they ever want to become a real couple.
Kerry keeps seeing a Doppelganger which means something bad will happen to her or someone she loves. The Phantom team all try to work together to help her find answers as well as do their investigation of a ghost town for their show.
I didn't want to put this book down once I started it had me from page 1. The characters emotions and personalities really do leap off the page.
It can be a stand alone book. But you will be left wanting to read book 1 (if you haven't already) or wanting the next installment right away.
GIVE UP THE GHOST by Kelly Moran: #2 in the Phantoms Series:
To call this book anything but exciting is putting it mildly...It will have you beside yourself...This series really steals your breath...
Kerry Baker seems to think one night she see's herself in the window when she looks outside. The crazy thing whatever it was had her calling Paul. When Paul gets the call he himself freaks out and goes running to Kerry to see what's going on..Thinking it was just one of her headaches..Well she try's and explains its not..
Cain the newest member to the Phantoms crew catches the conversation about what happened to her,...he explained to her, and the rest of the crew what she was seeing was very real..After he did some research, and her friend confirmed that the word for it was a doppelgänger....Cain had explained which freaked everyone...It was a warning..Bad things to come, even death. To her? Possible..It gets really exciting..She was totally in denial.
They headed out for there first assignment to Black Canyon, Arizona..The was a town rumor about Mary Mackaby, and Kerry finally finds out the truth so they can give her peace...the rumors were so wrong..Mary paid the price, and Kerry asking all the questions to the rest of the ghosts made it known they weren't too happy. Kerry was warned..She connected most with them all..It was her empathy connection, and much more that lead them to the trap door in the tavern, but to find what lay below it was something else...
While they were in Arizona Kerry kept seeing this thing..She didn't know why. She knew something bad would happen..One time it scared the living
Daylights out of her. And what came after that...it was not good..
What they found? Well buy the book and find out...
Will Kerry finally admit her feelings to Paul? They are best friends...just won't let to go any further or will they?
Kelly Moran is amazing...If you haven't read this series you really need to. It's thrilling, fun, and you will love it..
Refreshing too..New and exciting..
I was give an early copy by NetGalley..
Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
Give Up the Ghost is book two in the Kelly Moran-penned Phantoms series and is a paranormal romance about two members of the paranormal investigating team from the television show of the same title. Kerry Baker and Paul Leake have been best friends for almost as long as they've known one another. They know each other's secrets, but the one secret that Kerry doesn't know about Paul is that he's in love with her and has been for years. When he confesses his feelings for her, Kerry can't help but wonder if he's like every other guy she's encountered, wanting to be with her only because of something other than friendship. On top of the changes their relationship is undergoing, Kerry is faced with the presence of her doppelgänger and learning it's considered a harbinger of death forces her to deal with her own mortality.
The existence of doppelgängers is something that's been debated for countless years and my own knowledge of them comes from my curiosity when I read about them in a book when I was much younger. It's use in this story put a creative and original spin to the usual yarn because the explanation given is that the doppelgänger isn't a warning that harm or death may come to the person themselves but possibly to the ones that mean the most to them. This puts the whole Phantoms team at risk and brings heightened thrills to the overall story. Of course, the closest one to Kerry is Paul and the additional worry regarding the status of their relationship puts an additional layer of anxiety. Give Up the Ghost was such an enjoyable read and Phantoms has become one of my favorite series for 2015. Book two gets five stars! ♥
THE PHANTOM GHOST BUSTER TEAM IS BACK WITH ANOTHER SPOOKY TALE
so this is the second story of the new phantom series by kelly moran - it is a stand alone book - but if you like this one as much as i did - you will be adding book one ghost of a promise to your collection--- to catch up the phantoms are a ghost busting team that is on tv- the story opens with kerry baker seeing a doppelganger (ghost of oneself that is rumored to be a foreshadowing of death) naturally this shakes her to the core so she calls her best friend paul leake who is the teams historian and what starts as comfort ends with an earth shattering kiss that puts their friendship and job on the line as their contract prohibits romantic relationships between team members -- - so their new investigation takes them to an abandoned mining town in arizona where ghostly happenings have been reported- and the team has to keep their wits about them as they deal with ghosts- a vicious entity - rattlers - bats and a modern treasure hunt as well - will the team members stay safe- will kerry's and paul's new smoldering forbidden relationship be kept from their boss- if you want to know the answer to these and others questions buy this book- this author has the uncanny ability to literally draw you into this world and you can almost hear the unseen whisperings , feel the hot sun on your face- see the paint peeling and the dust covering the decrepit structures -- so i will am now waiting for book 3 to be written---- I received an ARC exchange for an honest review.
I am in love with this series. Fell hard after the first one and was excited to be able to read this one. The crew is on to a new investigation and adventure awaits. This one focus is on Kelly and Paul. Having been very close friends also for a few years she snags you by having Kelly see something so terrifying that she calls Paul and he swoops in to confront the terror. What they find out about what is appearing to Kelly will be something that will put everyone on guard but mainly what it means is what terrifies her the most. A investigation is afoot in a ghost town for the show that will also lead to many mishaps and encounters. You are riveted to the story moaning when you have to pause for anything. The intensity at times will have you gripping onto whatever is at hand so be careful what is around you. The truth also comes out about Paul's feelings for Kelly and the heat is turned on. Their being together can end their time though at being part of the show so the author does a excellent job at keeping you in suspense at how that will go and where it leads to. Being I love a great ghost story this is one of the reasons I love this series because it is so well written that you could actually see it all. Entering in will also be a new character that will spice up the mix. Did a few jiggs when I reached the end being ecstatic on how it all turns out. Received a copy for a honest review.
Just about everyone loves a good ghost story. Whether everyone believes in ghosts or just wants a good scare is often in question. An elite group of paranormal investigators make up the team for the television show Phantoms. Each one has their own reasons for exploring the unknown and bringing their discoveries to the public.
Kerry is scared. She’s seen or spoken to ghosts her entire life, so the regular, run of the mill ghost isn’t going to scare her. No, but seeing her exact duplicate, doppelganger, her own ghost when she is standing here perfectly alive terrifies her… with good reason. She calls her friend and team mate, Paul, incoherent with fear. As Paul dashes through the streets of New York City toward Kerry’s apartment – Kerry is on the floor, huddled in terror. No matter how normal seeing ghosts is to a person, they never, ever expect to see their own image in ghostly form!
Of course, by the time Paul has run the few blocks to Kerry the ghost double has gone… leaving no footprints in the snow where Kerry saw her outside of her window. As Paul comforts Kerry, we begin to see the attraction on Paul’s side for Kerry. Their contracts on Phantoms has an enforced no dating team members clause and Paul has kept his feeling hidden from everyone, including Kerry. They are best friends and Paul is trying very hard to keep that relationship in place. He doesn’t feel a southern beauty like Kerry could ever have romantic feelings toward a nerdy guy like him. So he is, if not happy, at least content to hold on tight to her friendship.
Cain, a new member to the team has some knowledge of doppelgangers and begins to research this type of sighting. As the team gears up to start their new season with a shoot in a ghost town in Arizona, worry is beginning to flow through the team for Kerry. What they are learning about seeing your own ghost is not good… not good at all.
Give Up The Ghost was an intriguing ghost story that I could not put down. I finished it in one setting and wanted more. This story was fun, tense, involved, definitely sexy, entertaining and it kept me riveted to the pages of my Kindle. Since there were a couple stories lines going on I was never bored or distracted from finding what was happening to Kerry, would Paul’s love for her be enough and where was the treasure buried?
I enjoyed this novel very much. I’m heading to Amazon to pick up the first novel – and there is another one on the way later this year to look forward to. Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, I’d highly recommend Give Up The Ghost to anyone who simply wants to be entertained and drawn into the story. That will definitely happen in this story. Enjoy.
Such an enticing blend of mystery, romance, and paranormal investigating! Give up the Ghost is the second book in the Phantoms series, but can be read as a standalone.
Six years. That's how long Paul and Kerry have been working together on the paranormal TV show, Phantoms. It's also how long Paul has been in love with Kerry, without her knowledge. Kerry is somewhat of an empath, sensing people's feelings both alive and dead, which is why Paul has kept his feelings for her hid away. Their contract states 'no dating within the crew', and Paul knows how important the show is to her.
The night before their meeting to find out where they will be investigating next, Kerry looks out her apartment window and sees...herself, dressed in the same pajamas, and staring at her with a blank expression. She immediately calls Paul, hysterical. He's her best friend and the one person she depends on. Paul uses his key to enter Kerry's apartment, and finds her sitting on the floor. What she's saying doesn't make any sense to him and he tries to calm her down so she can explain, again, what she saw. However, Paul doesn't know what to make of it. Knowing she's safe, he returns home so they can both get some sleep.
At the meeting, they are introduced to the newest member of their team, Cain. They also find out they are going to be investigating a ghost town in Black Canyon, Arizona. Before boarding the flight, Cain overhears Kerry and Paul talking about what she saw the previous night. He does some research, and by the time they get to their hotel room in Arizona, has an answer for her. A doppleganger, which is usually a harbinger of death. Whether a warning for herself or someone close to her, they don't know, but Paul is determined to keep her safe.
During their time in Arizona, they experience more than one hospital visit, threats from invisible forces, and confessions.
I knew the moment I started reading the 'terms' section at the beginning of this book, that I was going to love it. I knew all of the terms and devices mentioned in that section. Anyone who knows me, or has read some of my reviews before, knows that I am a paranormal junkie. This is such a good idea, a ghost-hunting romance? I'll be the first to volunteer for that read! Not to mention a friend-to-lovers romance...with a guy who smells like books, I might add.
One of my favorite parts was the Mary Mackaby mystery. The interaction between the supernatural and the ghost hunters was fascinating! The author had perfect timing when it came to those "didn't see that coming" moments. If you like the paranormal, romance, or paranormal romance--this book's for you!
***A gifted copy was provided by the publisher for my honest review****
This is one of the best stories I have read of recent and this is along the paranormal contemporary storylines.
Paranormal investigator Kerry Baker & her friend, and cast mate on their tv show Phantoms, Paul Leake, work together day in and day out in some weird and scary situations but something has scared Kerry almost to death- They are in this ghost town investigating a job and Kerry it out late at night looking around and she sees her doppelganger. Not understanding this phenomena, and not sure what this could mean to her , because when one sees their doppelganger it means they are foreshadowing their death, she starts to worry and in essence , freaks out. So she calls Paul in the middle of the night and he comes to her aid and he comforts her--Until a kiss changes everything.
Paul has been in love with Kerry for ages and didn’t want to give in to his feelings because he didn’t think she felt the same so he just wanted to keep their friendship going if he was going to have anything from her, he would rather have friendship if he could not have love since he knew she didn’t know of his love. But as their job investigating this paranormal situation continues to go on and goes downhill, , the chemistry between Paul and Kerry grows more intense . With Kerry’s life in danger and their jobs on the line, if they give into their attraction , that could be the worst idea they’ve had but yet― they can't bring themselves to stop it. Even if…Even if that were to lead to Kerry’s death…
This story was a thrill a minute and the strong sexual pull between Kerry and Paul was wonderful. You could tell there was such love between them. The supporting cast of characters is great and there are some harsh villains. The last two chapters had me going-I didn’t know what was going to happen until the very last- so kudos to the author for the suspense going on. Thrills, chills, surprises and romance. That is what this book has and I loved it!
My rating: 4.9 stars *****
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest rewiew.
Give Up the Ghost is the second book in the Phantoms series. I thought the first book was brillant, and this one topped it. We are reunited with the majority of the crew, and are once again taken to ghostly terms and technology. Don't worry, there is enough sexual tension between our two main characters Paul and Kerry. In the very beginning there is Kerry who sees a ghost image of herself, down to exactly the same outfits. This we learn is a doppleganger, which is usually the forboading of death or dying of the person who the doppleganger looks like or someone close to them. Paul professes his love for Kerry, while she's totally caught off guard with the intel. Will they be able to be a couple without losing their job, or Paul losing Kerry to death? Well yes, I know the answers... but you will have to read to see if the HEA happens. 4.7/5
I have to admit the doppelganger creeped me out!!!!
This book was written on an even level of interest. The romance between Kerry and Paul, the haunting they were investigating and all the supporting characters were perfect.
The author gave us a romance within a ghost story with added horror when Kerry encounters her doppelganger. Now the crew tries to figure out the meaning before something bad happens.
The twist and turns will hold your attention all while watching a friendship blossom into love. I did not know this is part of a series but am thrilled to learn this. Book one sounds interesting but I'mu looking forward to Sammy and Cain. I could feel the chemistry and the back story on Cain caught my heart.
I can honestly recommend to all types if readers. The author gave us a complete and captivating book while setting up the next book so smoothly.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review...
Spine tingling paranormal and heart melting romance in an abandoned mining town! What more could you ask for?
Give Up the Ghost is a delicious friends to lovers story featuring longtime members of the Phantoms crew, Kerry and Paul. This may be the second Phantoms book, but it is a stand alone story. (But I do recommend reading the first one, Ghost of a Promise, for the sheer enjoyment of it.) Paul is such a delicious and caring hero you'll fall deeply in love with him and will be turning the pages to see what happens next in this exciting story.
I received this from Netgalley/ Entangled publishing in exchange for an honest review. Oh goodness what can I say? Well, if you have read book 1 then you will absolutely love this one. If you haven't read book 1 yet pick it up and give it a shot! Have you seen the show ghost hunters and secretly loved it? Well, this is the series for you.
This book is the story of two of the investigators Paul and Kelly whom we met in the first book. This story gives us a tale of best friends an how that grows to a great love. This was very well done and a great addition to the series. I cannot wait for more!!!
A beautifully written story of best friends becoming so much more. Oh Paul, you were a major hunk of man only intriguing me more with those glasses. I loved when Kelly finally "saw" him and realized how much more he was to her. This book conjures up strong emotions with worry, concern, sympathy, love, friendship and rejection. Even the spirits made you feel. Cain was definitely one character I would like to read more about as well as Sammy, the strong female leader of the group. The tight knit group of Phantoms was so sweet and protective, they just drew you in.
I give this book a most definite well earned 5 stars ( I would give it more if I could)
How do we start this review - Phantomasmic, in other word it is a Phantom Fantastic book that I could not put down.
Kelly Moran grabs you at the start in her new novel Give Up the Ghost, so much so that I read this book in one sitting and said hello to 3 am before I finished it.
Give Up the Ghost is the 2nd book in the Entangled Covet series, the first one being Ghost of a Promise ( 5 star fantastic read also) and now I can not wait for the 3rd in the series.
You meet the main characters in the first book and you learn about parts of their friendship there but its great that Paul and Kerry have their own story.
It all starts at Kerry's apartment, Kerry is an empath and suffers from migraines and after getting her medication she walks to her front window and sees herself out in the front yard, in the snow, looking back at her, this really freaks her out so she calls her best friend and team mate Paul, who unbeknown to her has been in love with her for six years, Paul is really worried about the incoherent way Kerry was and runs round to her apartment to check on her, as fast as he could.
Paul has never seen Kerry looking so shook up, even with the job she does nothing as left her as incoherent as this event but with no footprints in the snow he wonders what has taken place so he stays till Kerry has settled and then returns home as they have a big meeting the next day with a new team member.
Cain is a psychologist and the new team member and while waiting to board the plane to the Arizona Ghost Town he over hears Paul and Kerry talking about her seeing her dead self so he asks Kerry questions and when they arrive at the hotel he tells her what he has found out - she has seen her Doppelganger - these are known as the harbingers of death - they give warning of either premonition of danger, serious illness or death.
This sends Paul into a frenzy as he does not know what to do, as he does not want to lose the women he loves. So he watches Kerry as best he can, in order to protect her. While at the location they are investigating, her doppelganger appears again and Kerry shortly after has an 'accident' on location, Kerry ends up sleeping in Paul's bed so he can protect and settle her.
This story keeps you gripped in its pages, wanting to know what happens next or who may get hurt next. I don't want to spoil the plot but this is an awesome love story with a great story along side it.
Congrats Kelly Moran and please keep these stories coming.
Kerry Baker has always talked with ghosts. Her childhood friends were spirits. Her family is embarrassed by her gift. Now she has found her calling with the Phantoms Team. These people are closer to her than her relatives. She has a special bond with Paul Leake. When she's sees her doppelganger, she calls him. How will this harbinger of death change their relationship? Kerry is a complex character. She tries to make everyone happy, but she won't try to find love. She lives for her job. It bothered me that she was so closed off. She deserved happiness. Paul has been in love with Kerry for the last six years. He's smart, caring and protective, but he's afraid that she can't like him. He's a special man who will sacrifice to keep her safe. I fell in love. The paranormal activity in Black Hawk, Arizona is amazing. The spirits are restless and Kerry is their focal point. Will she be their victim? The constant twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. It was amazing. I was fascinated by the changing dynamic of the Team. The addition of Cain McClutchen added tension. I couldn't stop reading Give Up The Ghost. I was hooked. I needed to know that Kerry and Paul got their HEA and that the spirits found closure. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Kelly Moran wrote a compelling suspenseful tale combined with a passionate romance.
