MR. ENGLAND Ian Matthews, secret agent man. To secure stately Hartley Hall for a visit from the Prince of You-Know-Where. Quinn Rutledge, the prettiest thing to come over from "the colonies" in years. Dangerous, debonair Ian Matthews thought his latest mission was a crashing bore, but he was under orders. So he'd visit bucolic Hartley Hall, make his report... then dash off to more exciting places. But Ian never expected to find stunning, irresistible Quinn Rutledge playing lady of the manor, and he certainly never dreamed he'd have to confront a resident spirit and a crazed band of terrorists. Ian was having a hard time keeping his mind off Quinn and on the job. He tried to keep a stiff upper lip, but his legendary British cool was melting--fast!
Quinn Rutledge is an American hired to remodel the historic Hartley Hall into a 5-star hotel. She is on a deadline and the last thing she needs is interference from Ian Matthews whom she believes is a corporate officer checking in on the progress of the hall. What she doesn’t know is that Ian is really a Special Forces officer with a hidden heritage that is vetting the hall for a very secret international meeting.
What they encounter is a 300-year-old ghost with an odd sense of humor (she has hidden traps placed all around the hall), a group of terrorist threatening the upcoming meeting, a feisty horse who has a past with Ian, and an attraction to each other that could spell disaster.
If you like stories with a touch of mystery/suspense, a bit of humor, lots of angst, and a chance of love with a happily ever after, then A Fine Madness fits the bill.

Quinn has been asked to restore a beautiful tudor property with lots of booby traps and a resident ghost who is also acknowledged as the resident match maker.
Enters Ian a CID undercover officer who has been sent to scope out the place and form safety strategies for a top secret summit happening at the estate before it is open to the public.
Mad Mary the ghost is an eccentric who loves match making and if insulted makes life hell for the one who upsets her.
Throw in a visit of the Prince of England with 2 other Bedouin Princes and the story that comes out is an explosion of funny incidents, short interludes of love and intrigue.
An enjoyable read.

Quinn is an American hired to restaurate an old mansion in England for the Historical Society. Near the end of the project Ian is coming, officially to inspect her work, but in reality to prepare the premises for a secret international peace making meeting between two fictional Arab countries. What he did not expect to have to deal with was a matchmaking ghost with a trickster's mind and a group of very unusual terrorists. The book is written with humour, highly entertaining and full of quaint characters. In short a wonderful romantic cozy mystery with a ghost I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had just finished "Some Men's Dreams" by this author so I found it interesting how Ms Dreyer was able to write in a different style. "Some Mens' Dreams" was set in America and the style of writing matched as it had flash and drama. This book, "A Fine Madness" was set in England and the writing style also matched in that it did have drama and suspense but it was less flamboyant. Kind of like the difference between watching an American TV cop show vs a British detective program. A clean romance.
This romance about Ian and Quinn is so funny and hot and good! I was laughing out loud at "Mary's" antics and the reactions to them. And the pure romance that brewed between Ian and Quinn was just as good. And how could I not mention Alistair and Copenhagen? This was truly an ensemble story that worked beautifully and effectively. 💕💗💕
This is definitely one book I will be re-reading over and over again. 😍🤣

Half truths, a ghost with a warped sense of humour and terrorists form the basis of this well written and thoroughly entertaining novel. Ms Dreyer writes a compelling and intriguing story full of plot twist. The reader is pulled willingly from page to page in this easily to lose themselves in book. Suitable for any adventurous romantic who likes a touch of the paranormal with their intrigue. The book’s description accurately describes the plot, but there’s much much more than meets the eye.
Ian is undercover investigating a terrorist plot at Heritage House and Quinn has been hired to restore it. There is an immediate attraction between them, but Quinn discovers who he really is and what he’s been hiding from her and she doesn’t know if she can get past that. They also have to deal with pranks from the ghost Mary who is haunting the house, Ian recovering from recent leg surgery, and his bout with malaria. Plenty of humor and drama in this paranormal romance.
Undercover Lover This is a fun and witty romance laced with drama, history and a ghost. This was written in 1991 and holds up well to today's thoughts of the past. As with all of this author's books, this has a wonderful plot, great characters and a good amount of witty humor. I would love to read all of this author's books. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.
Quinn and Ian's book is full of drama, excitement, action, humor, suspense, great chemistry and romance. This is a very enjoyable read that was fun and very engaging. I am posting a honest, voluntary review.
