There’s nothing like a matchmaking Great Dane to make me smile and George certainly managed to do that in this lovely, heartwarming story. It’s the sort of story that always makes me smile - two people who are struggling a little in their personal lives, but soldiering on anyway. I felt for all the key players in the story.
Restauranteur Brad is just overwhelmed with trying to run his business, trying to get his life back in order after his divorce, and dealing with his teenage son Justin, who is doing what teenagers the world over tend to do when faced with difficult family circumstances - he’s sulking, nat talking to his father and acting up at school.
Kara is a single mother of five year-old twins Sophie and Sadie. She’s slowly building up her business while dealing with a truly awful landlord and daughters who are older than their years.
Anybody can see that these two are perfect for each other and the chemistry is definitely there from the beginning. Great Dane George certainly knows it, and it has been such fun watching his efforts to bring Kara and Brad together. They, of course, each have their own reasons to stay apart despite the attraction, and the result is an entertaining story that had me smiling at times and laughing at others. Classic Debra Salonen and I loved it!

Forever and Ever, by Gorge may, at first glance, look like a romantic comedy. The book is indeed funny and enjoyable. In addition to that, the novel has a well developed and well narrated plot, rich in emotional and inspirational moments, with many captivating characters.
George is a dog, and the main narrator of the book, giving a sweet, and funny touch to the story.
Kara, the heroine, is a brave, smart and warm hearted single mother. She has not let the situations of her life affect her resolve to build a good life for herself and her twin daughters. She has grown to be resilient, facing every difficulty with a rational and mature approach. She is also a capable business owner and, most of all, a devoted mother.
Brad, the male protagonist, has faced a horrific betrayal that could easily have hardened him into cynicism. Once a loving, carefree husband, he struggles to understand why his life has crumpled in such a terrible way, and is at loss when dealing with his teenage son.
He has remained, however, a sweet, loving persona, and an affectionate father, with strong motivations to re-build his and his son’s lives.
Kara and Brad are both very aware of their responsibilities and very scared of being hurt. Their emotional journey towards each other, giving priority to their children well being, always with the highest consideration for each other's hopes and ambitions, is beautiful, and emotional to read.
The characters of Justin, Brad’s teenage son, and Sophie and Sadie, Kara’s twin daughters, brighten the story. Justin has a very personal view of his parents’ split and plenty of stereotypical teenage reactions. His genuine intelligence and funny personality finally emerge at the end of the story. Sophie and Sadie are probably wiser than their years, funny and sweet; clear reflections of Kara’s affectionate and intelligent mothering style.
Overall, Forever and Ever, by George fully maintains its promise to be a funny and entertaining book, adding a a well developed and well narrated plot, many captivating characters and a lot of introspection and emotions, making it a book that will suggest a smile in the reader’s mind for a long time.

Debra Salonen has a way of weaving a beautiful story and bringing the characters to life. Brad is trying to rebuild his life with his son, Justin after his wife left him. He and Justin are struggling to be a family along with their dog, George.
Kara is a single mother to twin daughters. She owns the Paws Spa. Brad's dog, George keeps escaping and running to the Paws Spa because he likes the attention Kara gives him.
This story makes you realize there is hope after being hurt, that you can change your ways, and find love if you desire. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Kara Williams father had died when she was young. He was helping a stranger who had gotten stuck during a storm and he was swept away in the water and drowned. Her mother had married within a couple of months to an abusive man. They snuck out and moved away after her mother received the check for Kara's fathers insurance.
Kara's mother seemed to be prone to pick up men that needed help and who had issues. Her latest was an alcoholic that soon ended up in rehab. Kara spent a lot of time with her uncle but he too had passed. He left her enough money to start her own business called Paws Spa which she wanted to franchise.
Kara hated storms and had turned to a man called Fly during one storm and ended up pregnant. He didn't want any responsibility so he left town. Kara had twin girls who were now 5 years old.
Brad Ralston owned a restaurant in town. Kara had worked there when she was younger. His wife had left him for the man he thought was his best friend and business partner. It turned out that the guy was embezzling money from his business as well as having an affair with his wife. They fled the country to Mexico after Brad found out. Brad had a 14 yr old son that was angry and had lately been getting into trouble at school. Justin had been kicked off the bus for fighting and got into another fight after being suspended for a week. Brad found out that Justin had also been hanging out with older boys and smoking dope. Brad didn't know what to do. Brad also had a dog named George.
George decided to run away one day and came to Paws Spa. He'd been there before so Kara called and left a message with Brad to come pick him up. It wasn't too long before George escaped again and came back. This time there was a storm coming and he asked Kara to drop the dog at his house. He told her that he would be home soon and just to leave him in his pen.
Kara drove to the house and the girls, and Kara, didn't want to leave the dog outside alone so Kara found an open window and crawled inside. Brad came home before Kara got to the front door. He asked Kara and the girls to stay because of the roads being washed out.
Kara's rental house was damaged during the storm and the landlord was using this as an excuse to kick them out. They had no where to go so Brad asked them to stay in an addition that he had made to his house. He made a deal with her because he needed someone to be home with Justin for her and the girls to move in.
They moved in and Justin seemed to be doing better. The girls aggravated Justin a bit but he adjusted to them being around. Brad liked her being there and Kara liked being there as well. She knew that she had to keep her distance from him. After her mother and her choices in men, she didn't trust herself. She told herself that he couldn't be for her. Brad also told himself that all women did was leave.
Wilma was an older lady who worked for Kara and she fell one day. She had to go to the hospital because she had a broken hip and pelvis. Kara found her after she didn't come in to work. She was tired at the end of the day and she came home. She found rest being with Brad and they kissed. She decided that it was time to leave. She made plans to move in with Wilma to take care of her.
Brad took George for a walk one afternoon and didn't return. Kara left to find the two of them and found George. George led her to Brad who was left on a cliff ledge. Kara had to call 911 to rescue him. All Brad wanted to do was go home. Kara got him into bed and slept with him that night. She knew she was in trouble when Brad told her that night that he was in love with her. She refused to let herself believe that it was true.
The girls didn't want to leave and told her that they wanted Brad to be their daddy. Kara wasn't sure that was a good idea. Turned out that Justin didn't want them to leave either and told Brad that he needed to do something to keep them there. He suggested that Brad go talk with Wilma.
He was hesitant but went to see Wilma at the rehab hospital. Wilma and Brad decided that she would sell her farmhouse and move in to the addition. He was going to ask Kara to marry him and she and the girls would move into the main part of the house.
Kara came home from work one day to find that Brad had drawn her a bubble bath. He then fixed a romantic dinner for the two of them and asked her to marry him. He convinced her that he wasn't on the rebound from losing his wife. He was over her and in love with Kara. Both he and Justin wanted her and the girls to stay. He told her that Wilma was moving in to help her and to help themselves too. Kara agreed to marry him. Telling Brad that this never would have happened if George hadn't run away from home.

A Great Dane named George plays cupid to pet spa owner and single mom to a pair of twin girls Kara Williams and recently divorced, father to a sullen 14-year-old, and restaurant owner, Brad Ralston. And isn't he the best Cupid ever. Missing his normal routine that has changed since the divorce and tired of his family ignoring him, George decides to take things into his own paws and trots off to Kara's pet spa to get himself a much need grooming.

Everyone in the Ralston home is having a tough time adjusting to the new dynamics of their family life, especially his son Justin seems to find any excuse to get in trouble. When George escapes his home one too many times, Brad realizes that he might be neglecting more than just his dog and enlists Kara's help as a live-in housekeeper. CIrcumstances being what they are Kara agrees to be the female presence in a home that is sorely in need of a woman's touch.

Soon all parties involved realize that they function much better as a unit but both Brad and Kara have been badly burned by love going wrong and are way too wary to get involved and risk their hearts once again.

I received an Advanced Reviewers Copy from the author for voluntary review consideration

ARC for honest review with no compensation

Forever and Ever, by George is written by Debra Salonen and as usually it's a well written, book about George, the Great Dane who is playing the matchmaker for his owner and the spa owner where he goes to be groomed. George in his dog mind wants them to become a family and is determined to find a way to make that happen.

Will his master figure out that work is not the answer to making a home for his son and finding the love of his life in Kara and her twin daughters or will Kara and Brad just continue as single parents with loads of baggage who feel an attraction but are determined to not make another mistake in loving someone???

Lovely fun read with heart

Ahh this has a big feel good factor without being slushy. An overworked dad of a teenager (we all know catering is relentless) and a single mum of twins who is building her business.....
Make that a dog grooming business and there’s lots of room for doggie interaction, shenanigans and wisdom!
Debra captures the perspective of 5 year old twins and the no surrender attitude of a teenager, in amongst the developing story of Brad and Kayla. Oh and how could I forget George and the major part he played!

This was a charming and delightful read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Before I knew it, the book was over. I could have kept reading and reading. This book was a joy. I loved the concept and a match-making Great Dane. I loved the having the book with not only dual POVs BUT the dog, George's as well. How original is that?!?!?! This book is definitely a keeper and one that will be read and re-read over and over. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this wonderful story.

George is one smart dog - or a dog with a big problem! George's routine was upended when Brad and his wife divorced. Tired of being ignored, George decides it is time for some changes. George is willing to help. A very cute story told from a unique perspective. I love the characters. They are very realistic, stressed out single parents. I had to read the entire book once I started!

Debra Salonen has a way with words. She brings her characters to life with an amazing clarity. I hated to read the end of this book because I knew I would have to say goodbye to Kara & Brad & their family including George. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a happy ending.

I have to say this book caught my eye because of the cover. I’m a sucker for love stories involving pets, especially dogs, and when I saw this cover with one of my favorite dog breeds on it, a Great Dane, I just had to get my hands on it and read the story.

George, is a big, lovable, gentle, sweet, “talkative”, Great Dane who reminds me so much of Bear aka Bubba Dog. I’m not sure if anyone else notices these sorts of things about their pets, maybe it’s just because I tend to notice more things than some people, but my dog has a very expressive face just like George and is very “talkative” too. Bear has this thing where he raises his eyebrows a lot and talks back to me when he doesn’t agree with what I’m saying or when he just needs to voice his opinion. It’s quite adorable and I can’t help laughing everytime he does it, he especially knows to do it when he’s in trouble because he knows I just can’t stay mad at him when he talks back to me and gives me his puppy dog look. Throughout the whole story just the little things George did made me giggle and smile, those are the best kinds of stories, if you can make me laugh and bring a smile to my face your story is worth the read.

Kara, the heroine of the story reminded me a little of myself. She’s very kind hearted and talks to the animals like they’re human beings and are involved in the conversation right along with you. I’m the same way. I know I sound crazy, but I honestly believe pets can understand what we’re saying and if they could talk they’d definately answer. They’re great listeners and even though they can’t speak they’re there for you no matter what. She’s also afraid of being hurt and doesn’t want to get involved with Brad even though she still has a crush on him, and she puts her twin 5 year old daughters, Sadie and Sophie, above all else, they’re her world and are just like their mother, they’re love for animals is absolutely adorable.

Recently divorced Brad, the hero in the story, has a 14 year old son named Justin. Brad is a hard working man, but is also very distant and isn’t close to his son. He was too hurt and mad at his ex-wife, Lynette, to bother and fight for her and try to make their marriage work. He ends up noticing these things, wanting to change. and make his relationship stronger with Justin. He’s also a restaurant owner and a chef which I just love! Some of the recipes he cooked in the story I’ve never tried making and I’m tempted to look for the recipes. They sound amazing, especially the pear tart with chocolate hazelnut sauce dessert, sounds yummy, huh?

Another character in the story I just had to talk a bit about is Justin, Brad’s son. Justin is a rebellious 14 year old who reminded me a bit of my younger sister, Demitra. When our parents divorced my sister rebeled just like Justin and got in to quite a bit of trouble in school. The author did a great job of explaining how some children react to parents divorcing, every child is different, but divorces effect children in a lot of the same ways. I felt for Justin and knew exactly how he was feeling.

Overall, the story was a good read. I’d recommend it to anyone who has a soft spot for animals and enjoys a good light romance story with a few kids thrown in.

This is the story of Brad, Kara and a matchmaking dog named George.

George escapes from the home of his divorced owner, Brad. Brad owns and runs a restaurant in town. George didn't have a leash on when he shows up at Paws Spa.
Single mom Kara owns and runs the animal spa. She grooms George when he shows up all by himself. She has to call newly single Brad to let him know George is at the spa. When Brad shows up to get George, Kara finds she still has a crush on Brad.
Both Brad and Kara try to hide from the hurts from their pasts. Brad and Kara are George's 2 favorite humans beings. He ends up being their matchmaker.
Very sweet story. Loved all the mischievousness of George. Loved how the story of Brad and Kara came together.

Cute little story. Heroine is the owner of a dog grooming business. Hero is the busy owner of a Great Dane client of the heroine. The dog, George, gets bored and keeps digging out of his pen (BIG holes!) and going to visit the heroine. She is also the single mom of twin girls, while the hero is the recently divorced father of a junior high aged boy who's having trouble with his mom moving to Mexico with her new boyfriend, the hero's former business partner. So obviously there is plenty of angst. But it's not a heavy story. Things happen but the characters refuse to let them get them down. It's just a nice story. I liked it.

Was a good and fun story to read. Kara is a single mom to twin girls. She runs an animal grooming spa. George is a great dane that shows up at her shop with out his owner, Brad. Brad is a single dad who runs a restaurant. George brings them together.

A bad storm necessitates Kara staying at Brad's house after George escaped again. They get to talking and discover they have feelings for each other. Kara ends up moving in the attached apartment and making life much more meaningful and pleasant for Brad and his son.

Gave this book a second chance and ended up liking it. Story was interesting as were the characters. It was fun, short read.

The only thing that bothered me was when the father kept calling his son 'son'. Does anyone even do that anymore?

Went to Leah's Gr 8 grad - left my book in the car - so had nothing to read going to bed. Found this one in a box by the bed - likely one of Emma's - so read it. A nice little love story - very enjoyable!
