K2 Team #3

Falling For Her

Rate this book
Known to the K2 Special Services team as “Saint,” Jamie Turner lives by his own strict rules to compensate for his past sins and the two-ton boulder taking residence in his heart. He doesn’t drink or smoke. He never swears. And he only dates nice, safe women until he meets Sugar Darling, the fill-in receptionist at K2. She’s as sweet as her name, but this wild woman is definitely trouble, with something to hide. He knows he should avoid her…but can he?

Sugar isn’t hiding something—she’s hiding everything. And K2 seems like the perfect place to lie low, thanks to the big, protective guys who work there. The drop-dead-handsome Saint makes her heart race, yet he keeps his distance. When Sugar’s traumatic past rises up to haunt her again, she desperately turns to Saint for help, and he has to decide what’s more important: playing it safe or risking everything for love.

Well the series just keeps getting better.

Sexy as hell! Hot shower inducing once they get together.

I am off to the next.

Oh yeah, I failed again...I started listening then got to a point where I couldn't wait for the drive home to see what would happen so I read till the end.

October prime borrow.

There were parts I really liked, but the cheesy and cringe-worthy ones dropped it from 4 stars to 3 for me.

Jamie "Saint" When he’d decided to turn his life around at the age of twenty, he’d quit drinking, doing drugs, cursing, and sleeping with women at every opportunity. Strangely, the cussing had been the hardest habit to break, and he’d taken to substituting stupid words. After a while, it had become a game, the sillier the words, the better.

And Sugar...
“You worry about me?”
“I meant . . .” The pleasure shimmering in her eyes stopped him, and he couldn’t bring himself to tell her the remark had been meant to imply he wasn’t sure she had any brains in that beautiful head of hers. “Yeah, I guess I do.” And he kind of did. A brilliant smile lit her face.
“Thank you.”
Jamie considered bashing his head on the roof of his car when he reached it. The soft way she’d said it—as if she couldn’t believe someone cared enough to worry—had him wanting to make promises he had no intention of keeping. He did not want her turning her beautiful smiles his way, nor did he want to be the one worrying about her. No way. Nohow...

Then the awkward happens * SPOILERISH *
Narrow hips came next, then . . . then his erection. She tried to be all cosmopolitan about seeing him . . . seeing that. She really did. She failed. It pointed at her as if it were an arrow aiming straight at her and, oh, it was huge. It would never fit inside her. Hannah surfaced, screaming that he was going to hurt her. Sugar’s stomach rebelled.
Jamie froze at the panic in Sugar’s eyes. She’d seen a man aroused before, she’d said so. She wasn’t a virgin so why did she look as if she were about to lose her dinner? “What the hell?”
Her color turned pea green, and she ran into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her. More confused than he’d ever been in his life, he stood, naked, in the middle of a bedroom a whore would die for and tried to make sense of the inexplicable. She wasn’t a virgin. She had silk sheets and a nude picture on the wall, so why had she taken one look at his erection and turned green?

Here goes nothing, he thought as he considered his first question. “You have been with a man before, right?” She nodded. It appeared he was doomed to have a conversation with the back of her head. “So you’ve seen a man’s penis?”
She held up one finger.
One man? The part of him that was pleased with her answer worried him, something else he’d think about later. “If you’ve seen a man aroused, then why did looking at me upset you?”
She muttered something he didn’t understand, and he leaned forward.
“I’m sorry. I couldn’t hear you.”
“You’re so big.”
His ego certainly liked her opinion of him, and although he was an inch or two over standard issue, most women were happy about that. “I’m pretty much the same as most men.”
A vigorous shake of her head accompanied her hand rising above her shoulders, her thumb and index finger spread apart.
“Four inches? You thought a man aroused was only four inches?”
Her towel slipped down her back, and as he waited for her answer, he narrowed his eyes at a faded scar that looked suspiciously like a whiplash. What in God’s name had been done to her?

“Let me see if I have this straight,” he said. “Because I’m bigger than what you’ve ever experienced, you think I’ll hurt you? So much so that it made you lose your dinner?”
In a nutshell, but it was the things Rodney had done to Hannah that had her on her knees, hanging her head in the toilet. She nodded.
He pulled her against him, palmed her cheek, and turned her face up to his. “I promise you on the SEAL oath . . . which I’d uphold with my life, that I’ll never hurt you. Will you let me prove to you that sex can be a wondrous thing?”
She didn’t believe him. “I don’t—”
“With just my hands for now. If you don’t like something, or if you think I’m about to hurt you, all you have to do is say stop.” ......

“Thank you for tonight, Jamie. I never knew. I want . . . I want to do the same for you.” If she said it enough, maybe she’d start to believe it. His chuckle tickled her neck. “And I want you to, believe me.” Pushing up on his elbow, he peered down at her. “I’ll never lie to you, Sugar. Right now, I’m as hard as an ironing board and suffering a severe case of blue balls. The thing is, I’ve got a problem with putting my most private part inside a woman who turns green at the sight of me. But now, you’ve become a challenge.”

Little details & inconsistencies bugged me a bit. See below:

Rodney isn’t stupid, not then and not now. He eased his way into our life, and when my father thought he hung the moon, Rodney asked for me as payment for all he’d done for us. My father agreed.” She waited for Jamie’s reaction. Did he think it was okay for a father to give his only daughter to a man who lusted after a girl not yet sixteen?

A little later in the book
Never having the brains God gave even a goat, Rodney..
wouldn't that mean he IS stupid?

I liked Saint when he finally dealt with his baggage. One thing I disliked in this book, and the previous one, was that both Romeo and Saint thought it was okay to NOT tell their women they love them (even when they knew they did and the women said it to them) because it had to be done in BIG way or at the right place and time. WTH? Romance is great, but letting her feel like crap so you can pick the right time & place is a douche move. He’d almost told her he loved her, but as the words reached the tip of his tongue, a way to show her occurred to him, and he stayed quiet. It would be much better than confessing his love in a hospital room. He hoped.

When they pull their heads out of their behinds, they can be pretty sweet. He does end up crying quite a bit the last 10-20% or so....may not work for those who like their Alpha men to stay Alpha.

“If I’m going to be bad, I want to be bad with you, Jamie.”
“Then let’s be bad together.”

He felt reborn. He was reborn, and it was amazing that a violet-eyed—worst driver in the world—woman named Sugar Darling had brought him to his senses.

Why hadn’t he told her he loved her? If he had, then maybe she’d have something to live for.

“I don’t care what your name is. Sugar Darling, Hannah Conley, Janie Turner, doesn’t matter. Whoever you choose to be, know this. I love you. You’re not what I thought I wanted, but I was wrong. You’re everything I need, all I’ll ever want, and the only woman I will ever love.”

“Don’t cuss. I’ll do all our cursing for us. It’s just not right when you do it.”
Fascinating that it bothered her, a woman who let naughty words slip past her lips without the blink of an eye.
“It’s that important to you?”
Her eyes had returned to their lovely blue color. “It is.”
“Then I’ll leave all the cursing to my lady.”

Sugar Darling isn’t what she seems. Most people see her as just a charming, beautiful, blue-eyed, blonde Southern Belle bookkeeper/receptionist without a care in the world. None of them know her deep dark secrets, and she is living with a lot of them. #1 Her real name isn’t Sugar Darling, #2 She isn’t really a blonde, #3 For the past two years, she has been on the run from her abusive, murdering, thieving police chief husband, #3 She is also hiding from her father, also a cop, because he is the reason she is in this mess to begin with, #4 She has a huge crush on Jamie Turner (Saint), even though he seems to dislike her immensely.

Good news for Sugar is Jamie isn’t what he appears. Having earned the nickname Saint for his non-swearing, saintly lifestyle, he is living with secrets of his own. #1 He still blames himself for his parents’ death, #2 He punishes himself by denying who he really is/wants, #3 Though she drives him crazy, what he really needs and wants is Sugar Darling.

What they both definitely need is a savior. As this engaging, somewhat predictable story unfolds, Sugar reluctantly opens up and begins to trust Jamie with all her secrets. He, along with his posse of friends/work associates, work together to free her from her abusive past. Jamie, in turn, begins to trust her with his heart, which frees him, as well.

My biggest complaint is the numerous, overly very descriptive steamy scenes. Though they did not highjack the storyline, the author used Sugar’s naivety and uncertainty to overplay that aspect. Also have to admit I fight doing an eye roll regarding the heroine’s name. What I really liked was Sugar’s witty banter, especially her attempts in the beginning to get under Jamie’s skin. His protective nature of her, the great cast of secondary characters, and somewhat predictable action-packed cloak and dagger ending all added to my enjoyment of this romantic read. I definitely hope Ryan (Doc) gets his own HEA, btw.

Since the author’s writing style appealed to me, I now hope to go back and read Books 1 and 2, and look forward to more in this series.

Title: Falling for Her, Series: K2 Team – Book 3, Author: Sandra Owens, stand-alone, VERY explicit steamy scenes, HEA, no cheating, some violence/flashbacks of domestic abuse.

Crazy for Her – Book 1, (Logan & Dani), 9/1/14
Someone Like Her – Book 2 (Jake & Maria), 1/6/15
Falling for Her – Book 3 (Jamie & Sugar), 9/29/15

I think it's supposed to be endearing that the main character substitutes silly phrases for cuss words but every time he does I cringe a little bit. How am I supposed to take him seriously as a bad ass alpha male if he says shit like: terrible turtles, pepper pie, and granny's panties instead of fuck, shit, etc... Thankfully he mostly gets over that as the book goes on.
I liked the book overall but I kind of felt it was unnecessarily dark.

Falling For Her was a really good read.

The storyline was entertaining, it had likable and relatable characters.
Jaime and Sugar had great chemistry/attraction. I enjoyed watching them work through their issues to be able to love unconditionally.

Overall this was a heartwarming and emotional read with a storyline that will grab you from the start until the end. I just couldn't put it down. The drama was well written and it wasn't overdone.
I highly recommend Falling for Her.

Thank you Montlake Romance via NetGalley for the advance copy.

Already a fan of the K2 Team series but I think this one might be my favorite!

Jamie Turner carries a boatload of guilt and regret. Of course, rather than face his demons, he tries instead to live a life of good, kindness, loyalty, and unencumbered by drink, smoke, or foul language. You got that right…this man does not cuss. He says things like ‘blue butter’ and “pink pikes’…yep, you read that right. However, the more he’s around the beautiful, not too bright, trouble with a capital T, Sugar Darling, the more dollar bills go into his swear jar because “Saint” is starting to lose his control.

Sugar Darling carries secrets too…big secrets! Sugar’s not her real name, and she’s far from not too bright but if she’s going to stay safe and hidden from an abusive and insensitive, thieving and murderous husband, she has to play the game. When she takes a temp job at K2 Special Services, she likes it a lot more than working at the Booby Palace so when Maria offers her a full-time job there, she can’t be happier especially since there’s a member of the team she can’t seem to get out of her head. Getting involved with any man is dangerous enough, and somewhat terrifying after what she’d been through as Rodney’s wife but there was something, about Jamie Turner, that kept drawing her to him.

Sugar is far from what Jamie believed his ideal woman but there was just something, about her, that called to him. So when trouble started brewing and it seemed to circulate around Sugar, Jamie was determined to keep her safe even if it meant he might be the one to hurt her in the end. Even as he couldn't resist her, he wouldn’t allow her to get too close because everyone who gets too close to him gets hurt, or dies. What he begins to wonder is whether she might just be the one to save him.

I love these two characters. I love their strengths, their vulnerabilities, their baggage, and their interactions. I love that Jamie is tough as nails but teddy bear gentle. I love that Sugar is way smarter than anyone has any idea, especially Jamie, but that she plays it down so brilliantly and humorously. I love the honesty that exists between these two even while they are holding back truths and lying to themselves about what they want and how they feel.

Sandra writes full-bodied characters but Jamie and Sugar are my favorite ones so far. Yes, I know I said that about Jake and Maria but then again, I might say it about the next pair too. Sandra Owens gets better with each book. Her stories are unique, suspenseful page-turners, with team chemistry, humor, and most of all, falling in love romance.

There are times when this one is corny funny but also runs to a darker side that I truly appreciated in Jamie and Sugar’s story. Even when Sugar decides to take off on her own so as not to endanger her new friends, she learns the greatest lesson regarding loyalty among friends and family. As Logan Kincaid reminds her more than once, K2 takes care of their family and Sugar is now family.

I highly recommend FALLING FOR HER, book three in the K2 Team series by Sandra Owen, not because I love the series but because this story is about strength, self-reliance, unselfish loyalty, and perseverance when it seems like there’s no escape. Take a ride with a man who thinks he deserves nothing and a woman who feels like nothing worthy of a good man, and fall in love.

This is a great addition to the K2 Team series. It is also available in Kindle-Unlimited with the audio version included. Falling For Her is “Saint” Jamie and Sugar’s love story, and I really enjoyed this one so much!

Sugar Darling is on the run, has been for years. She has tried very hard to live under the radar by working at Booby Palace under the table. When an opportunity to work for K2 Special Services comes her way, she grabs it. Of course, it puts her in Jaime Turner’s path. A man she is drawn to in a big way.

Jamie Turner works for K2 Special Services doing what he loves best, taking bad guys out of commission. When he discovers Sugar working at K2, he is annoyed, since she is a distraction he does not need. She is all wrong for him, nothing like his ideal woman. While his brain knows this, his heart and body disagree.

When Jamie learns Sugar’s secret, will it keep him from making a huge mistake, or will he realize she is the perfect mate after all?

This is a fast-paced read with plenty of emotion and passion from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed the complex relationship between Jamie and Sugar. Both characters have a lot of substance. Each have tragic back-stories, which adds greatly to the emotional level of the writing. Falling For Her gave my an even stronger sense of Pensacola than Someone Like Her, which was a fond walk down memory lane for me!

Sugar’s character has many layers to her personality. While she presents an image of a flighty woman, she is far from that. She lives in terror that her ex will find her, but she beats down her alter-ego, Hannah, whenever she threatens to take over. Hannah is nothing like Sugar. She is weak and scared, quaking in her shoes, ready to run at the first sign of Rodney. Sugar wants to fight it out, which creates great conflict within her character.

Jamie is a great hero. The terrible loss he suffered as a young man has colored all his decisions on how he needs to live his life. He has vowed to never drink, use drugs or cuss, but he has a particularly hard time with the last vice, taking to mutter insane phrases to avoid using profanity. I found this hilarious and enjoyed it a lot. Some of them are truly awful, but that is what makes them so humorous. I loved his internal struggle with what he thinks he needs in a woman and what he finds in Sugar.

The attraction between Sugar and Jamie sizzles and creates fantastic sexual tension. Although there are several explicit sexual love scenes toward the end, the build up makes this an emotionally-charged read. When they do come together, it is combustible.

I thoroughly enjoyed Falling For Her, and it is my favorite of this terrific series. If you have not read any of the books in it, then I highly recommend reading them. They do not need to be read in order since while many of the characters involved with K2 are in the four books, they just enticed me to find out what their stories were. Happy reading!

Sugar Darling is sweet, fun, flirty and without a care in the world. Well, that's what she wants everyone to think. The truth is that Sugar very smart but has been on the run for the last couple of years from the very people who should have cherished her but who abused her and kept her captive, forced to assume fake identities to keep herself off the radar. Sugar has never had positive experiences with any males in her life, so her first instinct is to give the men of K2 a wide berth, but she has huge crush on ex-seal and K2 operative Jamie Turner even though he can't seem to stand her.

Jamie is on a journey of atonement for his youthful transgressions and the resulting fallout. He doesn't drink, smoke or swear and he definitely avoids sweet women like Sugar. Too bad for him, resistance is futile against the force of Sugar's appeal but will Jaime let go of the past and move on with his life with the vibrant Sugar? Can he get her to share her secrets with him? Or will he let her go when her past comes calling?

I enjoyed reading FALLING FOR HER and liked how easy it was to relate to the characters, including the secondary characters. I really liked Sugar and watching her throw Jamie off his game was so much fun. I love how patient Jamie was with her as she explored her sexuality for the first time and for someone who grew up the way she did, I think that how she went about getting her freedom was remarkably smart, except for her refusal to confide in Jaime and accept his help.

The story started out quite light and enjoyable and the first half of the book had me laughing at Jamie's creative curses, Sugar's mixed up metaphors and how both he and Sugar danced around their attraction for each other. The second half was quite dark and painful as the secrets came to light and it becomes a race against time for Sugar to stay ahead of her pursuers. Even though she tried to run away, Sugar was unable to shake off Jamie and his team. I loved how they all came together to help her and I really loved the friendship among the group.

I enjoyed the mystery and romance and liked that one did not overshadow the other, even though I felt the sex scenes were a bit too many and skimmed over some of them. FALLING FOR HER is fun and intense and I highly recommend it.

Falling For Her is the first book by Sandra Owens that I have read and I enjoyed it through and through! The cover and the title were the first things that intrigued me towards the book and the blurb is also interesting.

Taken directly into action by the author, I loved how she executed the story to give us romance, military operations, a strong suspense quota and a story that held me glued to my seat right till the end. Sandra's writing style is engaging and she creates a realistic picture where I could visualize each and every action and feel the thrill of each moment.

Sugar and Saint look to be completely different from each other with Sugar appearing like an empty headed blonde and Saint acting all serious and intense. But wait till their masks fall off and then all that remains is vulnerability and a striking similarity between them. Both are tortured by events past and present, running from their past and stuck in self imposed prison. I loved how they slowly warmed upto each other and how the author brought their characters alive in my mind. She expertly developed their personalities and had me rooting for them soon enough.

I loved meeting the other members of the K2 Special Services Team and enjoyed travelling with them to their dangerous and adrenaline thumping missions. I look forward to meeting them again and am eager to read their stories too. I know I'll be picking up the previous books in this series soon.

Despite being part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone.

There are heartfelt emotions, an engaging and action filled story, an intense and warmth filled romance and plenty of suspense and anticipation in this book. A lovely experience, I give Falling For Her 4.5 out of 5 and recommend it to all lovers of romantic suspense. I enjoyed this book so much that I know I'll be checking out and reading the other books in this series and others by Sandra Owens soon.

I received the book from the author and the tour organizers from NetGalley and I am very thankful to them. The above review is my honest and unbiased opinion and in no way influenced.

Another great story in the K2 series that has romance, suspense, and a colorful cast of characters! From Jamie with his made up curse words to Sugar’s botched metaphors, this book had me laughing while anxiously turning the pages to see if and how these two could find a happy ever after.

Jamie and Sugar seem to be so opposite from one another but underneath it all they really have a lot in common. They have both taken on personas and adopted rules to help them recover from the pain of their past. Jamie has some strict rules he follows to keep him on the straight and narrow while Sugar has a wild side that seems to have no boundaries. What is undeniable is the attraction that simmers between these two and the sparks that fly every time they are near one another. Sugar seems to find a way to get under Jamie’s skin and make him break his rules, and as much as Sugar tries to keep pushing Jamie away, he quickly works his way into her heart and makes her feel safe. As much as they tried to deny what was happening between them, it was clear that they really were perfect for each other and just what the other needed.

I loved watching the K2 team come together to help Sugar deal with the issues from her past – there’s nothing like having a group of well-trained, alpha men around to help you out when you need it – and boy did Sugar need help! It was great to visit with the characters from the previous books – watching them all interact and catching up with their lives added to the story. There is such great comradery and friendship between the men and women of in this series that they really feel more like a family than a group of people who just work together.

I really enjoyed this book and just loved all the characters – and I’d be remiss not to mention Junior the cat! The plot was well-developed and I felt that the issues from Sugar’s past were handled well from a romance standpoint. This is another wonderful addition to the K2 series that I would recommend to anyone!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

Seeing as Ms. Owens is a new author for me, I didn't know what to expect, but this book was good. From start to finish, the plot was entertaining, yet also very emotionally charged. Sugar has been through so much in her life, and for her to have not allowed her past to get the better of her, proved just how tough she was.

I liked the dialogue, especially the moments where Sugar said things that made absolutely no sense, and Jamie had to correct her. Those times, especially at the beginning made me laugh. But the dialogue did get a little dark, due to Sugar's back story. It made me feel sorry for the heroine, because those that supposedly loved her didn't do anything to protect her.

I liked both characters. Their back stories were really good, but the fact that Sugar had some serious trust issues made me annoyed with her. She joined K2 so she felt safe, yet she wasn't using the resources it offered to help her. That didn't make sense, though I could understand why she chose to do what she did. Because she wanted to protect those she was coming to care for. While with Jamie, I liked how devious he was when he believed Sugar wasn't going to allow him to help, because he wanted her to trust him enough to share her sordid past.

Now for the sex scenes, which were extremely hot, and the last one took them to new heights, so Sugar had absolutely no doubts that she could trust Jamie. No way would he hurt her. It was nice to see that after everything that had happened to them in the past, that they finally had a chance to be happy again. It couldn't have been easy for Sugar, but Jamie is good for her. Just as she's good for him.

Overall, this was a good book, which has me wanting to read the previous ones because I really liked the secondary characters, and would like to learn more about them. I would recommend if you're a big fan of romantic suspense.

A story of a young woman running away from a husband she despises. With a new identity, she hides everything there is to know about her old self: likes, dislikes, hobbies and much more. Known as K2 Special Services, she works here where she meets a young man, Jamie, but will they end up together or will her past be too much trouble for him. Falling for Her, by Sandra Owens is an adult romance book about Sugar's adventure with ex navy seal Jamie Turner, while still trying to lay low so her husband, Rodney will not find her.
Saint, otherwise known as Jamie Turner acquired his name through being a goody two shoes who goes for bland women, doesn’t cuss and doesn’t drink and Sugar is all the things he shouldn’t be with, but will that stop him. Just like Sugar, he also has his own secrets to hide. As this pleasant, somewhat predictable story unfolds, Sugar starts to trust Saint and when all secrets are unraveled, he, along with his friends in K2, help liberate Sugar from her abusive past. Jamie thinks he just want’s Sugar in a physical way, but he can’t deny she warms his heart. In the book it says, “Jamie angled his head just enough to look at her without seeming to” (Owens 2015). Read on to find out if Jamie will keep denying himself of who he wants, Sugar Darling, or let her break down his walls.
Overall, this book did entertain me immensely. It has Jamie and Sugar who discover themselves with each other and may fall in love, but there is always that superstition will Sugars terrible past come back to haunt her and in term affect their relationship or make them stronger? It was a great book that had a lot to say and did very good to meet my expectations. I however thought the author lacked in putting more action in it. I think if there was more trouble in paradise it would have more suspension. Despise not a lot of action, I thought it was a great book as a whole. I would recommend this for adults and mature teens because it does contain some adult romance. Next time I read a book I would read an action book because I did like the suspense this book gave.

No one can do super hot ex-SEALs like Sandra Owens can. In her third book of this series, the guys of K-2 Special Forces are ba-aack, this time Jamie Turner—a.k.a. Saint—has fallen for Sugar Darling, a woman who is keeping more secrets than he is.

That thing that I love so much about Sandra Owens’ romantic suspense is that she never loses sight of the romance and it is completely, joyously addictive. Sparks fly between this couple from page one. Jamie Turner, or “Saint” as he’s called, has turned himself into a perfect, no-cussing, no-drugs, no-alcohol, no-wild-women kind of guy to atone for the sins of his past. Sugar is just the kind of woman he’s vowed to stay away from—blond and gorgeous, a terrible driver and a metaphor mixer, she completely baffles him and throws him off his perfectly planned game—and we love watching every minute of it.

Sugar Darling, who works temporarily at K2, is running from her old life and has created a somewhat ditzy personality as she is on the lam from a horrible husband who abused her and made her life hell. To keep herself invisible, her main job is as a bookkeeper at Booby Palace, a fantastical strip club, the likes of which made me chuckle throughout the book. (Just one example of Owens’ great imagination.)

Saint tries desperately to fight his attraction to Sugar. Sugar desperately wants a new life and a chance at love despite being so scarred from her past. Jamie’s just the kind of guy who can free her from her own prison, and in so doing (and with Sugar’s help) free himself. When her past threatens, Jamie protects her with his life.

The interactions between the guys of the team and their banter with one another (and their significant others) is fantastic, and I felt like I was revisiting old friends. This is a highly emotional, romantic read and I loved every second of it. I can’t wait for the next book of this series!

This is the third book in the K2 Team novels and let me just say, I LOVE THIS SERIES! This book is about Jamie "Saint" Turner and Sugar Darling. He is a serious soul. He doesn’t curse, drink or smoke. He seldom, if ever, smiles. He has demons from the past that are keeping him from living a “normal” life. He functions, but is not really living. That is how it should be. That is what he deserves.

Sugar Darling is filling in as receptionist at K2 Security for two weeks. She is the polar opposite of everything that Jamie looks for in a woman. He has recently started looking for someone to settle down with. Someone that could be the mother to his children. Someone, prim, proper and…dare I say, boring? So why is he inexplicably drawn to this woman who is totally inappropriate and opposite of everything he wants. Like a moth to a flame, even though he knows she is dangerous to him, he can’t seem to stay away from her.

There is much more to Sugar Darling than meets the eye. Something is stirring under the surface. There is more there than what she projects with her ditzy dumb blond persona. What is she hiding? Why does Jamie feel this innate and overwhelming desire to protect her?

There are interesting plot twists and drama in this book. I found it impossible to put down. I just had to keep turning those pages…so I pretty much lost a day while I was immersed in this story. There is a LOT of plot development in this book – in the form of drama, mystery, intrigue, suspense, disquiet and upheaval. After all they’ve been through, Jamie and Sugar certainly deserve a “happily ever after.” They still have demons to fight, but their love holds strong.

An intriguing exploration of love and redemption, FALLING FOR HER is captivating and passionate. You won’t be disappointed in this volume of the series. Grab a drink and find a comfortable place to sit, because you won’t want to get up!

When you meet Sugar Darling you will think that she doesn't have a care in the world. She is fun, sexy and happy. Nobody will ever think of her as someone who has something to hide. Sugar works as an accountant at a strip club. When she takes a few weeks off she fills in as a receptionist at K2. By taking this temporary job she hopes to find an opening to stay at K2. She wants nothing more than to quit her job at the strip club, but she needs the money.

Jamie Turner or Saint is a bad ass. He isn't someone you would want as your enemy. He joined the Seals after a tragic accident that took the lives of his parents. Ever since he's determined to make his parents proud. He does not swear and he won't let any woman distract him. Until he meets Sugar...

Jamie and Sugar are drawn to each other. Saint knows she is hiding something, but he doesn't know why. When the past comes knocking at her door Sugar has no choice but to trust Saint and the people at K2 who have become her friends.

When I started to read this book I was drawn in from the very first chapter. I didn't want to put it down. I wanted to keep reading and find out what would happen next. My heart broke when I read about Sugar's tragic past. She has been very brave by running from an abusive marriage. Before she ran she was smart enough to read a lot about how to disappear. One of the things she learned was that she couldn't keep one single thing the same. She changed her name and let go of everything she ever liked and loved. As Sugar she became a completely new person.

This story was beautifully written. I felt the love and the hurt and was cheering for a happy ending. It also gave me comfort to see that the bad guys got what they deserved in the end. The good will always outshine the bad. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

Falling for Her was full of sweet moments, that I couldn’t help but love the story. This is my first Sandra Owens book and I will for sure come back for more. This book is my kind of book, it was innocently sweet and hot at the same time.

 photo FallingforHer-Teaser.jpg

When I started reading I was thinking, why would anyone name their kid Sugar Darling? But I keep reading and fed my curiosity. Sugar Darling is not what I thought she would be. She is a girl with a bad past and trying to stay wrong for the person that she became. She is gorgeous, but doesn’t know it…until Saint showed her. Saint started very close off, that he didn’t even want to get to know Sugar. But when circumstances put Saint in Sugar’s way, he had no choice but to get to know her. Once Saint got to know Sugar for more than a woman he thought she was, he couldn’t let go. Sugar consumed Saint, she snuck into his heart without even realizing it. Saint was so protective, strong and one hot piece of a**. The sex scenes were hot and I loved how innocent Sugar was. Everything was new to her and Saint just loved her for it even more. Saint and Sugar were great together, that it was so easy to fall in love with their story.

I started reading Falling for Her at about 8 PDT last night and finished it just under a half hour ago. Ms. Owens seems to infuse her books with a psychotropic drug as the same thing happened when I read Someone Like Her last year. Falling for Her is the third book in the K2 series (the follow up to Someone Like Her). For those that aren’t familiar with this series, it follows the members of an elite SEAL team after they have retired and gone into private practice. They are led by Logan Kincaid, hero of the first book in the series, and each book focuses on one of the other men. Falling for Her is Jamie’s book.

Jamie (aka Saint) joined the Navy after his parents’ deaths ten years previously and ever since he has given up every one of his vices. This means no alcohol, drugs, or cursing. It also means the only sex he allows himself to have is boring. He’s gotten it into his head that doing any of these things would put him back on the bad path he’d been traveling before his parents died. Until recently, he hasn’t had a problem with any of it, but then Sugar Darling shows up at K2 as their new secretary and she tempts him in ways no other woman has ever done.

K2 Special Services Series
Crazy For Her (Book 1)
Someone Like Her (Book 2)
Falling For Her (Book 3) **AVAILABLE: September 29, 2015**

Jamie "Saint" Turner is hiding... from himself. He doesn't drink, smoke, and NEVER, ever swears. And he only dates bland, boring, safe woman that do not tempt him to feel like the man he buried 10 years ago. NO ONE has tempted him more than Sugar Darling... and he needs to avoid her at all costs. But the sweet, flirty, violet-eyed blonde gets under his skin, and Saint needs to decide if he is ready to let go of his self proclaimed rules or lose Sugar... possibly forever.

Sugar Darling is hiding too... from everything. Hiding from a man that believes he owns her and from the scared girl she was with him. Running away and changing her name, Sugar becomes the ditzy, flirty girl so no one can recognize the girl she had once been forced to be. But with Jamie, a man she believes can't stand her, she feels safe (something she hasn't felt since she was 10 years old).

When Sugar's past finally catches up with her, she is again forced to make a choice: run or fight for a life free of looking over her shoulder.

Falling For Her (A K2 Team Novel) is the first book I have read by Sandra Owens. Early on, I was amused by her sense of humor with the Sugar Darling name. I knew then that this was a book to be enjoyed. However, along with the humorous side it has a terrible seriousness to the story. The bad guy did not die sooner enough or suffer enough for me. The good guys, Saint and Sugar especially, suffered way too much. All I can say is I think poetic justice was served in the end.

As you can tell, early on I became invested in Sugar’s dilemma. I also believe cats are good for something and Junior certainly proved to be worth his small weight in gold. Saint too for that matter, even though he had his own demons within to battle while trying to help Sugar. It is a well written story with flawed characters who I learned to love.

Now I’m a new fan of the K2 Team Series. I can’t wait to read the ones before this one. Though each writer has their own writing style, romantic suspense readers of Katie Reus, Cynthia Eden, and Kaylea Cross will want to add these books to their list of must reads. I know I certainly have.

I was very lucky to be able to read this book. Who wouldn't love a book full of hot ex-SEALS who still work to keep people safe and will do anything for one of their own? This story brings us Saint to his friends, but Jamie to everyone else. He lives with a pain that he carries like a physical burden. Due to something terrible from his past he completely changes his life and will do nothing but walk the straight and narrow, even trying to date with that in mind. Enter Sugar Darling and things sweeten up and heat up. Sugar doesn't understand why Saint only dates women she describes as beige, but since she has a past to keep running from she really can't say anything. Saint and Sugar always find themselves at odds with each other, but is it that their feelings for each other come out that way? When Saint starts feeling sweet on Sugar, he tries to get her to open up to him, but she holds back. When her past comes to the present and puts them in danger, Sugar is worried that Saint will leave her. When you begin this story you find yourself drawn in and you develop feelings for the characters and their pain. I loved hearing about the other characters from K2 and love how they will do anything for one of their own. Great story!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley/Amazon Publishing for an honest review. "Falling For Her" by Sandra Owens is book two in the "K2 Team" series and can be read as a standalone book. This is "Saint" Jamie Turner and Sugar Darling's story.

Jamie is an ex-Seal and works for K2 Special Forces. Sugar Darling is working a temp job at K2. Jamie has all these rules that he has to follow which is how he got the nickname "Saint". Sugar is the opposite of what he thinks he needs in a woman, but he is attracted to her.

Jamie has things in his past that he hasn't dealt with and Sugar is hiding everything. Her pasts catches up with her and Jamie and the K2 team get involved.

The author did a great job in this romantic suspense that the romance wasn't forgotten. The chemistry and attraction between Jamie and Sugar was hot! I enjoyed their characters and how the reader could feel their emotions.

This was a great combination of romance, suspense, and even humor. There were lots of twists and turns with some unexpected events. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading other books by Sandra Owens. FYI, contains mature content.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. At first I thought what kind of man doesn't cuss and comes up with strange funny words. I mean yes I do it sometimes but I'm more like Sugar I have a potty mouth lol. Jamie though honestly was a very intriguing man. His attitude at Sugar will have you laughing because see she brings out the worst in him. Not really but he feels that way in order to understand what I'm saying you really need to read the book. But don't think Jamie is this omg I can't do that because it's not right no this man is hot and has this ability to make you melt on the spot. Sugars story was truly heartbreaking I hated what she went through but she had this amazing attitude that just makes you think man my life was pretty awesome imagine if you lived poor Sugars life. And believe it or not some people have been through this kind of stuff. K2 is this badass group of men and Maria who you want to protect you or excuse me only me lol. This book offers alot of comedy, sexual tension and lots of healing.

I was given this book for an unbiased review

From the minute I opened this book I was mesmerized with "Saint" and Sugar.
When Saint returns from a business trip he sees this girl being harassed by a big guy. He goes and roughs the guy up and realizes it is Sugar that is being harassed. Sugar is the new secretary for K2 and she was sent to meet him at the airport. This is the beginning of their ride form hell.
Sugar's past is not something she is willing to share her husband is an abusive jerk and she ran far from him. He is always looking so when people start questioning her neighbors she is ready to run again can Jamie "Saint" come to her rescue.
With the help of K2 a plan is devised and set in place with Sugar's "Hannah's" help.
I started this book with the intention of reading one chapter Eight chapters later I was hooked to the point that I didn't want to read the last chapter and have the book end. I haven't read a book that captivated me like that in a while so I was pleasantly surprised. This wasn't your typical romance novel it had action and suspense as well all in one. I am looking forward to going back and reading the other books in this series.

Love K2

I really do love the guys of K2. The author has created wonderful characters who are easy to understand and connect to, including Sugar Darling. I've gotta admit that the name kinda threw me for a bit. Who on earth would name their child Sugar Darling? We'll, come to find out, that wasn't her real name. Sugar had good reason to hide her true identity along with her dangerous secrets. Jamie has been hiding too...from himself. After a fatal accident involving his family, he has changed everything about himself and made himself into a mere shadow of his true self. He doesn't even realize how much he misses the real Jamie until Sugar bursts into his life and messes up everything. These two are like oil and water at first, but slowly Sugar worms her way into Jamie's heart...just in time for her secrets to catch up to her and send her on the run. Jamie has to decide whether he should chase after Sugar and take on her battles or let her go and return to his self imposed rules.

I loved this story and can't wait for more of this series!

I got this book as an ARC from Net Galley for an honest review & here it is. My first read by Sandra Owens & I really enjoyed it. The damage created in two souls was heartbreaking but Jamie & Sugar(Hannah) got past that damage to live a life that they could settle for. Jamie's been looking for someone to love like his father loved his mother before they died in the car he was driving. Sugar is on the run from an abusive past & hiding the person that she really is. Both have fallen hard for the other but are pushing each other away because they can't deal with the pain a relationship might cause the other when the truth comes out. The past always catches up with you & Sugar's abusive husband finds her & it's up to Jamie & the K2 team to finally free her from the terror she's lived. Can Jamie get her away from the terror she's known? Can they have a life that they both deserve? I look forward to reading the other 2 books in this series. & I definitely recommend this book to read.

I was introduced to Sandra Owens with her book Crazy for Her. I fell in love with that book with in the first chapter. Now she's continued the series with the 3rd installment. This is Saints and Sugar Darling's book.

We first met Saint in 'Someone Like Her', so it'll help to read this book first just to keep up with the series.

Jamie 'Saint' Turner, is a man who feels that everybody he loves dies by his hands. So to prevent that from happening he gives up booze, cursing and wild women to make amends. That is until he meets Sugar Darling.

Sugar Darling is running from her past and picks K2 to help protect her. She loves messing with Saint to see how far he goes until he cracks. Sugar is alone until she realizes that she has a family here right under her nose.

I could not keep this book down. I love the dialog Sandra uses for Jamie's swear words. The sex scenes were hot. I give this book 4/5 stars.

One night Saint is outside the strip club to Drive her home . And sure enough he saves her from another man who hits on her .
