Hope for the Depressed: Beyond a "Cheer-Up" Theology

Rate this book
Depression makes so many things hard. Things you used to take for a good nights sleep, having goals, responding to someone's love, looking forward to the future. Is there any hope and help for those who are struggling with depression? Edward T. Welch describes the world of the depressed person and gives a biblical perspective on the causes of depression. Then he outlines small, practical steps that will teach you to cry out to God and depend on him in the middle of your struggle.

Simple, quick, considerate, biblical advice for those with depression. This book doesn’t say “just cheer up” or “you’ll be okay,” but understands what it means and feels like to be depressed and offers actually helpful counsel towards healthy & saving faith and hope in Jesus Christ. Highly recommend.

Good booklet with encouragement for the depressed. A lot of helpful passages in the Bible about suffering and hope, and good tips on persevering through a biblical lens.
