Escape to Earth #3

Defending Holy Ground

Rate this book
From the International Bestselling Author, Saxon Andrew, comes the third book in the Escape to Earth series, Defending Holy Ground. The Invasion from M-87 has been delayed by the destruction of the Conduit that was built connecting the two galaxies. But the Leaders in that gigantic galaxy are not giving up easily and they intend to find the High Energy Being they detected and kill it. Their fear of the Sentinel will push them to make a series of questionable decisions. Pat is the last remaining Sentinel in the Milky Way and he intends to do whatever is necessary to protect the civilizations in the Fellowship by offering Earth up as a sacrifice.
Humanity has decided that they are not going out without a fight to defend the planet of their ancestors. The fight to defend this Holy Ground is going to be beyond imagination and the numbers coming to attack will be overwhelming. Millions of Earth’s population have been moved to Andromeda but time is running out on those that still remain. What the leaders of Earth don’t realize is that the last Sentinel will lead the invaders to Earth if they don’t find it on their own and defending this holy ground is beyond anything they can do.
The action continues and picks up speed in the third book in the Escape to Earth series.

Excerpt from Defending Holy Ground:
The numbers of damaged Orange Ships popping into normal space were staggering. Indura’s and Windy’s ships began salvoing their DM Missiles and they bore in on the magnetic fields the Invader ships emitted. The wave of destruction was running rampant in the Invaders ranks as Gunny and Kitch’s Fleets joined Windy and Indura’s ships; in a few moments, space was filled with missiles accelerating into the mass of the Invaders that had been hit and damaged in the void.
Windy watched the destruction and shook her head, “Pan, what about the wave still in the void?”
“The probe shows that they are continuing to move above and below the balls. Some are starting to slow down.”
Windy yelled into her communicator, “GET OUT OF HERE!! THEY’RE SENDING SHIPS OUT OF THE VOID!!”
Gunny yelled on his fleet frequency, “SKIP NOW!!”

A massive wave of Invader ships appeared in normal space and opened fire on the four ONE WORLD fleets. Hundreds of battleships began blowing up around Gunny just as his battleship left normal space. A giant wave of the Invader’s disruptor beams shot out at the thousands of DM missiles that were fired by the battleships. However, even though the Dark Matter warheads had their thrusters burned off, they continued to be attracted to the magnetic fields of the Invader Ships. They picked up speed and massive explosions walked the ranks of the Invader Ships that had just arrived in normal space.

A solid story

Reading one of Andrew's books is a pleasure. The stories and plotlines may have Some similar themes. The characters are new and it's fun to read the interaction of the characters and how the story develops. The series is a solid comfortable reading series, sometimes a little confusing as to who says what if you're not paying attention A lot of fun none the less I hardly recommend the series and eagerly await the next 1.

A lot has happened since the end of the second book Fighting for Space and this book begins with a recap of the second conduit battle, I found this a strange way to continue the series. However, the story continues to be interesting, although not quite as exciting as the first two books. I also found the ending a bit weak, but I am looking forward to the next book.

Just OK.

There were some interesting ideas a concepts introduced (specifically in regards to petroleum, but by the same token you need to wonder why the Earth has such an abundance in comparison to other worlds?) however the writing was a little bit clunky and it just didn't flow that well.

The continuous evolution of weaponry and defenses throughout the series without any real scientific explanation was somewhat annoying, however it did recall the classic Lensmen books in a fashion so I was willing to give that a miss.

Good read.

As usual Andrew does not disappoint you with this one. This series is one of those rare ones that you get into and can't get enough of. There is plenty of action and all kinds of twists that you don't see coming. If you're like me and into space and wonder what it would be like to meet up with a stronger or more advanced race, I would recommend this series. Start with book 1 and up to this one number 3 , it just keeps getting better.

Good but confusing

This series has an excellent arc to the books. The first two novels were well paced and you are able to learn and like the Individual characters. This book there were so many new groups introduced and the dialogue sometimes ended up being confusing enough that at the end of the scene several times I had to stop and retread the scene again using the new information to make sense of what. Had been happening.

I've read a number of Saxon Andrew's books, and have enjoyed them all. Some parts of the Escape to Earth series were reminiscent of Darrel Bain's Cresperian series.

One bit that bothered me a bit in the Escape to Earth books was the (repeated at least twice) global warming denial comments. Was this a joke of some kind or??

That aside, good reads.

Another great addition to series.

A great action adventure plus to the series. It's getting better as I'm hooked on this authors writing style. Thanks for your writing it.
