Sunday Night Dinner Club, Book 4

Theo and Zoey Hughes have got it all. The ideal marriage, a gorgeous house, brilliant jobs and a steadfast group of friends. So why is everything falling apart at the seams?

Zoey loves her husband, but recently she’s stopped liking him—and if their fights are any indication, Theo’s feeling the same way. The future that once glowed bright before them has lost its shine.

There’s no choice. Zoey has to walk away. She needs to take a break from her marriage before it implodes, leaving nothing but fragments of their once-perfect life together.

Letting Zoey close the door behind her is the hardest thing Theo’s ever had to do. Now he’s faced with a choice: watch his wife leave him and everything they’ve built together, or go after her and remind her why they fell in love in the first place.

Warning: When a hot-blooded alpha male decides he wants his wife back, you better believe nothing is going to stop him. And if he has to seduce her to succeed, well, let’s just say his blood isn’t the only thing that’s gonna be hot about this story.

(This book is the fourth in the Sunday Night Dinner Club series. Although each book stands alone, they can be better enjoyed read in order. )

Jess Dee lives in beautiful Sydney, Australia, with her husband, their two sons and their insane dog - a ridiculously overweight puggle named Luigi.

An avid romance reader since her early teens, Jess knew one day, when she grew up, she’d have to write her own love stories. It might have taken a while, but in December of 2005, she finally got “the call.” Her first book, Photo Opportunity had been contracted. Now you can’t hold her down. She’s completed a whole host of books, and is finally doing the work she loves most— writing romance.

Jess Dee has a knack for making me cry and she’s done it a lot with her Sunday Night Dinner Club series. I don’t thinks she sets out to do that but these books have been filled with such emotion and are so beautifully told that I can’t help it. Leaving At Noon was a hard read because as someone who has been married a very long time (coming up on 28 years) I know couples have their ups and downs and I know that sometimes things can get really bad and it’s been pretty evident during this series that things are not good between Theo and Zoey Hughes who have been the rock of the Dinner Club. Married 8 years their friends have always looked at their relationship as the one to emulate but times have not been good for this couple and find themselves at a breaking point.

As anyone who has gone through rough times relationship wise this book was hard to read only because it pointed out how easily things can go from a minor fight to a big blow up with no end in sight especially when two people are not communicating effectively. There was a lot of blame on both sides and remarkably as they worked through things they both realized they were at fault and they both had to let go of the animosity that had grown between them. While I wasn’t happy with Zoey for bailing and refusing to fight as her history unfolded it became clear why she did it and thankfully Theo understood it and with the help of their friends went after her.

Yes, a lot of this book was these two discussing their pain, figuring out where things began to go wrong, discussing their feelings, and trying to figure out their way back but it was also two people who hadn’t taken the time to be together physically in awhile rediscovering everything they loved about the other and remembering how much they needed that in their lives as well.

Leaving At Noon was an emotionally charged story of healing and hope with plenty of sexy times thrown in to remind this couple that while communication is key, the physical touch is equally important especially with the person you love.

Absolutely loved this book!!!

When Zoey and Theo's fairytale marriage that everyone envies, hits a roadblock that has the couple lashing out at each other, both loathing to come home to see their spouse each night; Zoey decides take some time away from Theo to think about her future.

She's been with him for 8 years, and loves him more then life. But she knows they with the constant fighting and silence between them, they are heading towards something bad if they don't take a break from each other. She loves him, but for the past 5 months; she's begun to loathe being around him; and he feels the same way.

Watching Zoey leave is the hardest thing Theo has ever done, but their marriage is falling apart. He knows that if he doesn't give her the space she's asked for, their amazing marriage will explode. But now's he's faced with an impossible choice; if he doesn't go after her and fight for her, reminding her what they have is precious, he will lose her forever.

Will he win her back?

A must read!!

5 out of 5 Licks

There are some reviews that are harder to write than others. This is one of the harder ones, because I loved the book so much. There is something about Jess Dee’s writing that just seizes hold of your heart. This book in particular does that exceptionally well. While I enjoy reading about new love a lot, there is just something extra special reading about a couple fighting for their love and relationship. Relationships are not all about hearts and flowers they take work to make it last, and we, as people tend to forget in the daily grind of our lives.

Zoey and Theo are one of those perfect couples we all look up to. So when their friends of the Diner Club start to see issues between them it rocks the whole group. Zoey is truly at her wit's end with the gaping hole between her and Theo. She is tired of their only communication being fighting. She is leaving to save them, but will she break Theo in that process.

Theo's whole world crumbled when she walked out the door. Every thing around him is suffering. He is in the dark as to when they went from perfect to crumbling, so he is going to fight for them, even if he has to fight Zoe herself. Theo has my heart big time. Not every man would fight so hard in the face of all that comes at him. Only a true love could survive these kinds of issues.

The thing I love most about these types of books is how much I learn from them. It is easy to throw in the towel when times get rough, but we end up with so much more if we fight for each other. I highly recommend this book and series, each book in this series is a must read!

This is my least favorite out of the whole series.

I found it very repetitive. But most importantly, I did not like Zoey at all.
I couldn't stand her.
Finally towards the end of the book, I honestly didn't want her to get back with Theo because my god, the woman has more issues than Vogue, and couldn't take responsibility for her own actions. She literally blamed every single problem she had in the world on her parents. - Don't get me wrong, the situation sucked, and her mother was a bitch to the nth degree. But enough is enough.

Theo... I didn't mind him. Yeah he had a temper and would say things in anger, but he when the fight was over it was over. No obsessing on every little hurt.

The end of the book said 'Waiting for Midnight' is the next book, but it's been 2 years, and I know that the author had a little bit of a break down since then (I follow her on Facebook, and I remember some posts about giving up etc), so I wonder if it's actually going to come out or not. I would like it to come out, because even though I didn't particularly like this book, I do enjoy her books a lot, and look forward to them.

Leaving at Noon by Jess Dee was such an emotional story, heartbreaking one moment and uplifting the next. This was not a story about a couple falling in love and living happily ever after; it was about a couple's marriage falling apart and trying to save it. Theo and Zoey are considered the perfect married couple, even to all their friends but now, they don't even like each other. Something has gone horribly wrong in their marriage and they each throw out hurtful words at one another. These scenes were really heartbreaking to read because they were written so realistically. I loved that Theo did not give up on Zoey or their marriage and that he went after her. Some hard truths were revealed and I enjoyed how they reconnected again, both emotionally and sexually. The author took us on a journey full of ups and downs and I enjoyed watching this couple overcome it all.

I love Jess Dee;s Sunday Night Dinner Club Books! to get the full effect of the books you really need to read them all from Book 1 in the series. the reason I say that is each book mentions characters from the other books and it helps to know what the books is referring too. It is like a brick wall ...it books build and build the story lines up.

This book is about the only married couple in the Sunday Night Dinner club Theo and Zoey. we learn all about who they got together, their lives now and why they are having issues. We see how they work through them. This book is deep in parts and in parts it can be very HOT, Great series can't wait for the next one!

Love almost lost!

I loved this book! Zoey & Theo have always been rock solid, until one day, they aren't! Suddenly they hate each other and throw vicious insults at each other! There are secrets Zoey doesn't know and it isn't Theo's story to tell. Can they save their eight year marriage, or will secrets and heartbreak tear them apart? Read on, book 4 in the Sunday Night Dinner Club is a edge of your seat, amazing read! Well done Jess, so proud!

Leaving At Noon is the final instalment in the Sunday Dinner Club, a series I have enjoyed thoroughly. It was a fun, quick read, but this was my least favourite of the lot. I liked Theo, but couldn't stand Zoey. I found her to be too self centred. Overall, though, I didn't feel as connected to these characters as I did to couples in the previous books. Three stars for this one.
