Saving the Omega

Rate this book
Left behind by a man who refuses to admit he's gay, Jacob's ready to move on. He embarks on a camping retreat in the remote mountains of Montana, hoping that he'll find a sign of how to get his life back on track. So what if he doesn't know the first thing about survival in the wilderness?

Mason is the alpha of his pack- bigger, stronger, and fiercer than all the other wolves combined. When Jacob steps into his shop, he catches the scent he's been waiting for too long- that of his mate. His wolf knows this is who he wants to bond with, even if he can't understand why it would be to a human male. Spurred on by his instinct to protect, Mason heads out into the woods after Jacob, where packs are roaming for a little omega to take for themselves...

I should start by saying that I've quite liked all the previous Wolf Specter stories I've read and as such I'll probably continue reading their stories in the future.

But... there is always a but...I'm not sure what happened here.

The premise is pretty solid and it even starts strong. Jacob is running away from heartbreak and decides to head camping for a mental reprieve. On his way into a national park, he meets Mason, who unbeknownst to Jacob is a werewolf Alpha, who just also happens to be Jacob's destined mate. Mason, being the big bad protective Alpha that he is, follows Jacob into the woods to keep him safe from any threats that may be lurking about. So when Jacob is set upon by a group of scummy (werewolf?) assholes, Mason intercedes and saves the day, while revealing his true self in the process.

That all sounds good so far, right? Well, it was - with the exception of the odd changes between first and third person tenses it was all going pretty well. But then, upon Jacob's rescue, the story, which is already super short, starting flying by at the speed of sound and suddenly we went from werewolf reveal, to acceptance, to claiming, to baby making, to they lived happily ever after, the end!....All in about 3 pages. I kid you not. What the rush was, I have no idea!? But I can't help but be bummed that the second half wasn't an itty bitty bit more fleshed out because it had the potential to be more.

This book couldn't decide if it was in first or third person. By page 13, there had been at least four times where it had briefly (well once for an entire paragraph) gone into first person. Jacob believed the whole shifter thing way too well...WAY too well and fast. I'm not saying he would necessarily be scared, but believing what he saw would take a bit longer let alone the jump he easily made.

It was also poorly written. "...surging forward, capturing Jacob's face in his arms." Huh? Then they kiss. That sounds complicated and unwieldy.

The ending was sudden, rushed, with way too much follow up information for what happened after they mated.

While the story itself wasn’t too bad, I couldn’t rate it higher than two stars. Within the first chapter, a character is referred to by two different names, and the point of view changes from third to first and back again. That, in addition to some spelling errors that would’ve been caught by simply running a spell check, makes me reluctant to read anything else by this author.

This was a very interesting little shifter story. For what it was, I truly enjoyed it even though some things moved a bit quickly. I appreciated the fact that Mason found and saved his mate and then wasted no time in mating with him (Jacob). Overall, it was short yet fun. =)

Saving The Omega By Wolf Specter

A short story about an Omega whose boyfriend left him and a new Alpha he meets while getting supplies to go camping. When men try to attack the omega the alpha saves him. It was okay. Not really up to the usual standard for this authors longer books.

Jacob and Mason's story. Jacob is a good guy, having a hard time with things decided to go camping to regroup and think things through of what to do next with his life. he walks in a shop and meets mason. he is a Alpha male and he smells an Omega which is Jacob. But the bad news is so can all the other Alpha's smell Jacob. But Mason wants him so he protects him and makes him his. Not with out fights though.

Short alpha/omega heat

A very simple, erotic short of an unaware, jilted guy slipping into the woods and being saved and seduced by an alpha. Brief, basic story with a little heat at the end.

This was a great story concept but a very bad execution. I think if I was human and a person I'd met once told me that I'd be "strong enough to bear my pups" I would have run screaming. Jacob was just crazily accepting of everything. I love the mate/mine/insta-love but this was ridiculous.

Good Story

This is a very fast paced story. There is a little bit of violence but not graphic. There is sexual content is graphic but not many scenes. This is a nice story.

Short

It took me a good fifteen minutes to read. It felt unfinished. I wanted more to the story. It just ended when the story was just getting good.

Sweet and hot, as always! Love that both characters are the whole opposite of each other but don't care at all.
