DNF at about half way although I did skim ahead a bit to see 'what's what'. Very long and boring.
The author writes like a sports caster telling the 'play by play'. The prose is dry and repetitive with short perfunctory sentences.
Steve, the MC officer, is no more autistic than I am. I know a LOT of autistic people, and there is nothing about his speech or thought process that comes across as autistic. Gotta say, this REALLY PISSED ME OFF.
He's supposed to be a man of few words... well that's true if you remove , 'babe, fuck, gotta say, etc' from the word count.
The blurb says, 'swears like a sailor'??? all he says is 'fuck'. I hope sailors have more imagination.

First read for me by this author, I love MC books but not this one. The writing is flat, I felt no connection to the characters, it's all telling and no showing. The Dom/sub theme was blah.
Add to that the often confusing storyline I was not impressed. The constant swearing was OTT, and the use of Kristen Ashley stock in trade phrases such as eyes to me, then there was the chin lift but here the author puts her own spin on it, as in"he throws her a chin" huh? . Thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited so I can just return this and wipe it from my mind.

I really wanted to like this book after reading the blurb and then the FYI at the start of the book.
I expected Steve to be the quiet type but what i got was "fucking jess" "fucking Pres" "fucking brothers" every couple of pages. I kinda got lost by the end in knowing who was who, who did what, and where they all worked etc.

I’m a member of a group of biker book lovers and several of the members were buzzing about the series. I was a little leery but I was told that it starts kind of slow but by the end they really fell into a little bit of love with the books. Me being me with my adoration of good biker books decided to give the series a shot.
I liked but didn’t love this installment. I can’t believe I’m saying this but it maybe had too much dialogue and too much detail. We would get the smallest detail on random stuff, but then there would be huge time gaps making us miss months at a time. Things would happen during these gaps that we were told about, but I wanted to be shown.
Jess was smart, funny, driven but for a good reason. I loved that there was no insta-love in this. Steve had to work for her, asking her out for over six months before she said yes. I would have loved to be along for that back and forth, maybe seeing some of his frustrations and what led him to keep trying, but this was one of those aforementioned time gaps. She has a health issue that she is living with as best she can, she’s a product of the foster care system, and has a drive that is to be admired. I did think she was almost too perfect and there seemed to be nothing she could not do. The amount of goodness she was spreading around and the miracles she was bringing forth by the end of the book got to the roll your eyes stage.
I loved Knight. He was an alpha but the good kind. To me he was a true leader who led to serve those under him. I loved how once he found out about her medical condition, even though he struggled with what he wanted to do, he went against his alpha/dominant instincts and did what she actually needed him to do. Again, he was almost too perfect.
We were introduced to some characteristically rich side characters who I really loved and want to know more about. This book definitely read like a child’s bedtime story at times, so I’m liking it but definitely not in love with it. There was also some typos etc. that even I noticed, so be warned if that is a pet peeve of yours. I am going to check out the next one.

I actually really liked the concept of this story and what it was setting up for the series. I liked the idea of a 1% MC getting into almost or even all legitimate business and including the old ladies in that. I really liked Knight and Jess but I kind of felt like I walked into the middle of something the way this book started out in the beginning. At first it felt like things were moving at warp speed but really they had been getting to this point for 3 years so it really wasn't as fast as it seemed. But overall their actual story was good, I could have done without Knight's very excessive use of the word fuck but I guess that was just him, I thought I used it a lot until I read his dialogue.
I found some things really hard to follow that kept the story from flowing for me. The main thing was the way characters were thrown into the story in mass quantities with little to no background and pretty much out of the blue at times. By the end I didn't know who half the people were and it was so confusing. Another thing was the dialogue at times was written in a way that was hard to figure who was saying what in the conversation. I felt like there were some things we got too much detail and information about while some things were just glossed over or not fleshed out enough.
But with all that said I will give the next on a shot because I really like the set up of this MC and want to see where it goes next. For me some times the first book in the series isn't the best because it is doing a lot of set up for the next books, I am hoping that is where the issues I had with this one arose because I would really like to follow the lives of the main brothers in this MC.

Loved Knight and Jesse. They are both damaged souls who heal eachother with love. Knight is a former military man who is also VP of the local MC. The MC is struggling to stay legit and not fall back into the seedy life. Jess is a single woman who has had a crappy life. She's been abused and abandoned most of her life. She waits a long time before she agrees to a date with Knight. The chemistry these two have is explosive. L. Ann Marie does a great job with the dynamics of the MC and the relationship between Knight and Jess. She covers many years of their relationship which I loved because the story wasn't over quickly. It's nice to see a author write more than 200 pages for a change. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series

OMG I loved this book. Jess is so bad ass and funny I was laughing out loud and Steve (Knight) what a guy. He sees her and has asked her out for 6 weeks before she said yes. I am so glad she did. She had a really bad last relationship and trust is not something that comes easy to her, also she has a medical condition that has her living in pain every day. The chemistry from these two is brilliant they seem to support each other but alone they are capable of so much too. This was an unbelievable romance and series starter. I was totally hooked and had to order books 2,3 and 4.

I liked this book and liked characters. The only problem I have with the books so far is the minor grammatical errors and short sentences. Sometimes I feel the author could use more grammar to increase the length of the sentences. This, for me, would make the books read better.
I liked the dominance of Knight and how Jess was instantly submissive but she is still such a strong character out of the bedroom! I like how the family is continuing to grow and the MC is cleaning up it's act. They have a finger in all pies!
I'm looking forward to reading about more of the characters.

This is the first time for this author for me, not bad. The story line was fantastic, the sex was awesome and the characters where sexy. I enjoyed everything about this book, I am not really a biker fan but she has made me one. Steve and Jess are an amazing couple that go through their ups and downs like any other couple does and to live a life of drug running for the MC has changed thanks to Jess. she is a financial whiz. Their life is never dull.

I really liked the characters in this book and the storyline. It doesn't read as smoothly as some but it has more meat to the story than others though and I know after reading this it hasn't been professionally edited yet either so I'm giving it three stars and will definitely read book two.
Love Jess and Steve and their friends. The only thing that could make their kids any cuter would be reading them with animals.

Loved it!!
I absolutely loved this story!! There was so much in one book that you actually get to see the character growth and progression! Oh the boys Jessie and Ben stole my heart and can't wait to find out what happens when they grow up. Love this authors writing style and ideas!! Can't wait to read more!

I am having trouble rating this book. I give it a 4 because I like the strong characters, I would give it a 2.5-3 for the plot though. It wasn't that the plot was bad. It was just that I felt there was also some kind of drama. The plot for me wasn't explained and thought out. It was just event after event and no real down time to just enjoy the characters and the environment around them.

I loved that this book went so long in the time frame of the relationship. Before they got together, during, and after they had the baby. Yeah the language was a little repetitive but I love the way the story unfolds and can't wait to read the other 2 books.

3.5 I did enjoy this book however it often got quite confusing and I found myself having to read passages over and over not always getting it. Steve's dialogue got a bit annoying as it was far too repetitive. Great storyline, held my interest.

Really great book. Actually the whole 4 series are great. Don't get me wrong it could use more editing but it's worth over looking because the content and depth of the stories are so good. These are all defiant E must reads in my opinion the story unfolds getting better and better.

Slightly stilted writing but a darn good book. MC with a difference they have moved beyond running drugs and guns as they lost too many brothers to others greed. Using the money they have gained they pump it back into their local community making it a drug free zone where everyone wants to move.
Jess is the buttoned up receptionist from work, Steve has been talking to her for three years, in the last 6 months he has asked her out on a date and she has refused, this time she accepts. When he arrives at her house to pick her up for their date he is stunned into shock as the buttoned up receptionist has a body that doesn't quit and an honesty that has him hooked. His first mistake is taking her to the MC bar, now he fights to keep her safe from men who don't follow any rules.
Jess has a head for numbers and proceeds to gain her own respect but she is struggling with a crippling bone condition which she keeps hidden as she doesn't want to see the pity in their eyes.
In return for her canny investments on behalf of the brothers, they in turn invest in a clinic in Boston that is looking at her bone condition with alternative drug treatments which enable her to carry her and Steve's baby to term.

I love this story and I love the main characters Steve and Jess. It's different in a good way. Some spelling and grammar issues and a lot of periphery characters that got confusing at times, but the main and secondary characters were well developed.
Sadly, after looking at the synopses for succeeding books I won't be continuing with the series.
The book starts with Jess and Steve (M.C. VP) going on their first date. They've known each other for 3 years and he's been asking her out for 6 months. Attracted to him all along too, she took her time getting to know him and knows he's a good guy and she'll be safe with him. They are mad for each other from the beginning and head straight into a relationship. The book follows their relationship for 5 years through marriage, some danger, their first child and her health issues.
The author made me love these two and the secondary characters, Ben, Danny, Tracy, Rich, Tiny and so many of the other brothers in the club. There is a scene at the beginning at the club with the usual club whores but that stuff doesn't touch Jess and Steve except for one scene later with a bit**y whore who gets in Jess' face. Steve puts her in her place pretty quickly and there is no OW/OM drama.
The main couple are very sweet, tender and sexy together. They discuss their sub/dom preferences early on but that aspect is pretty tame and their love scenes are hot.
The fairy tale portion is that this is a group of bikers who want to go "legit" they're moving away from the illegal activities and opening legitimate businesses in the neighborhood and working to help the community.
To sum up, have you ever read a book and just wanted it to keep going after the end so you could see how the characters lives turn out? That's what this book is.

The reason I'm done with this series:
Danny's book (Jess' brother who divorced his self-centered wife in this book) gets his h. That's fine because I like Danny's character and was interested in his story.
BUT....A future book has Ben, the Prez, left by his wife Tracy (who I loved in this book and was a great friend and character!). Not only that (which breaks my heart) but he's into Danny's wife and they apparently become a threesome!!!!!! W-T-F?
I'm not into threesomes but I maybe could have bought it if not for making Tracy character do a personality 180. The fact that Jess and Steve are so devoted to one another and so are Tracy and Ben has me stopping right here.

I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated
I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).
I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)
My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.
The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.
Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale
I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).
I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)
My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.
The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.
Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale

Re-read the entire MC and Protectors series between June and August. Since I'm re-reading, I'll up the rating on this one from a 3 to a 4. I love her storytelling and characters but sometimes the prose (and particularly the conversations) is a little dense and hard to get through. But I'm back again because the guys, the gals, the kids are all SO GREAT! If you bought this a while ago and are just reading it, download a new copy from Amazon because I think a lot of them have been updated on the editing front.
This is a new author, and I enjoyed her storyline and the characters she created. I'm hoping she finds a really good editor because the editing and proofreading was just bad - it was sometimes hard to understand who was talking or if the character was talking to himself/herself or someone else. It took me a l-o-n-g time to wade through the entire book.
There's an element of paranormal in it, with some of the MC guys and some of the kids. The lives of the main MC guys (the officers) were highlighted, and some MC business (and businesses) was covered. Mostly it was the smexiness between the two leads and how other groups were trying to take the MC down. I have *NEVER* seen an author use so many "Fuc*in'"s in a book before - this word doesn't bother me, especially in an MC book, but it was way overused. It seemed as though every character said it multiple times in every scene. In addition, some things pop up out of nowhere after you've known the character for a while (like all of a sudden Steve is a Native American or has a medical condition that I won't say here because it would be a spoiler).
HOWEVER, I am going on to read more books in this series because she tells an interesting story.
This first book reminds me of when I started reading Lani Lynn Vale - she's such a great story teller, but the lack of editing and proofreading was so hard to tolerate. Vale went on and found the editor(s) she needed, and I would never miss one of her books now. I hope this author continues but gets wonderful editors, proofreaders, and beta-readers!

What an awesome book this is! I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. It's definitely the beginning of a great series.
Steve Knight is one sexy man! He's the V.P in the MC, 6'3, tattooed, a soldier, fair businessman, he's loving, protective, honorable, and everything else there is to love.
But he's no saint. He will kick ass when he needs to when he feels like the people he loves are in danger. He's not much of a talker do to the heavy crap that he's dealt with in his youth, and as an adult.
He's asked Jess out many times and she's turned him down. So when she finally says yes, he's floored. He forces himself to make conversation, and give himself the confidence that he lacks.
Jess has fantasized about what it would feel like to kiss Steve's plump lips, and to ease the ache that she feels downstairs whenever he's around.
Since the two of them have agreed to go out, the both of them are so turned on by the other one, that neither can think straight. Jess see's Steve's tattoo's and she's thinking he's even hotter. Steve see's how Jess is dressed out of her work clothes, and he's stunned.
But everything isn't roses for the two of them. The both of them are dealing with physical and emotional issues.
Jess has a rare bone disease that keeps her in constant pain. She does her best to hide her condition because she doesn't want people treating her differently and feeling sorry for her. She exercises regularly and runs often.
Steve has his emotional issues that he deals with from his time in the military. He keeps things bottled up inside so that he doesn't have to relive those horrible times.
The both of them find solace within the club and their friends. Jess earns a great deal of respect from everyone within the club by helping with the financial issues that arise, not only at Knight, but at the clubs other businesses as well.

Great Story
I loved the Baxter's so a took a chance on this tie in series. I'm not a fan of MC stories, having known a few guys that ride growing up, I don't like the negative, thug focus a lot take. I have read a few good ones and this is a good one.
Steve Knight is the VP of the club. Former SEAL who served with Jamie and Kevin Baxter. He turned down a job with Baxter Security to work for the club he grew up in. While he wasn't proud of the illegal activities they were involved in they are his family. Things are changing. With the president dead, Steve's best friend Ben is now in charge and is moving the
club into legal businesses, while holding on to their core beliefs.
Jess is the CFO of the flooring company Steve works at, hebis been trying for 3 years to get her to go out with him and she finally said yes.
Jess grew up in foster care. She is off a bad marriage and is cautious around men. She likes what she sees in Steve and takes a chance.
Steve and Jess click. She makes a good impression on his club brothers and their old ladies. Happily puts her financial skills into work helping the club grow their businesses and investing in the future.
I loved that their story unfolds over 5 years. Loved Steve and Jess. Loved little Ben and little Jess, can't wait for their stories. Loved the Baxter family tie in and what Steve did for Mitch. Will be reading the next book.
The story is steamy, with light BDSM.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A fairly well written adventure book, that wasn’t always very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish, but never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. I’m not real sure I understood this whole story content so I will rate it at 3/5 stars.

There was much I liked about this book and much I didn't. The story was good and the characters had interesting background history, I just didn't care for the D/s thing and found the writing style a bit hard to get into. The sentences were choppy, short and a lot of the expressions seemed to be a bit repetitive but I finished the book anyway. It was free when I got it and it seems like the books were re-published since I got them so my purchase does not show verified.
This was more of a book about town bullies and the effort to clean up and re-build a place that was rundown and not prospering. Knight's MC was doing some shady business and yet they all seemed to be fairly nice guys when you get to know them and by the end of this book, it was more like a family drama and less like a biker book...not to mention that they proved the way to a man's heart is through his stomach =)
The story dealing with Knight's woman Jess and her illness was unusual for a biker book as well and it showed a more human and fragile side to what could have been strictly an erotic romance between a biker Dom and his sweet sub.
I have the second book ready to go (it was free as well when I got it) and I'm hoping for a more believable storyline and better flow with the writing.

I got this book free some months ago, but never got around to reading it. Big mistake!!!!!!!! I don't as a rule read MC books. They're just not what I like to read. I was hooked first paragraph. I couldn't put it down. I downloaded all I could with Amazon unlimited, will finish as I read and then on to the next series. All emotions are covered beautifully but what really drew me was the totally different concept of the book. So refreshing, not like any other books I've read. I can't find the right words to describe how I feel about this series. Keep them coming, please.
