Have you tried to talk with them about how they play with others?
This story is an exciting tale with an excellent moral about how to play with other children. This is a hard lesson for kids to understand. They want to borrow, but never to share. In this story we watch the confident mouse realize that he is not treating his friend properly.
Told through rhyming verse and vivid images, and is designed for children of all ages to enjoy. Aimed at 2-5 year olds, this story teaches a very important lesson.
leela hope is a writer with over 22 years of experience in writing endearing children's fiction. Her lively characters have entranced and captivated her audience, and she has taken great joy in writing the three series of books, each beautifully illustrated with love and care. Her stories concentrate on the adventures of floppy eared bunnies and wide-eyed children learning lessons in life, before returning home wiser and eager for sleep. leela hope writes her stories to entertain the very young, but also to educate. Her vision is always of a parent sitting on a child's bed, reciting the stories each night, while the young one drifts off to sleep, lulled into a dream world full of fun and adventure. From her very earliest years of childhood, leela made up stories in her head, telling them to her younger brother and sister. The stories flowed easily from her mind, and it wasn't long before she realized she had a gift for writing. By the age of 14, she had already written a small book of short stories for her own entertainment, and by the age of 22, she had published her first full-fledged children's fiction in several magazines. leela hope was destined to be an author and she knew exactly what genre of fiction she wanted to dedicate her life too.
Born in San Diego, California, and still residing in the area, leela studied English Literature at Berkeley, earning a degree in 1989. Her writing covers a span of several genres, but she always returns to her first love, children's fiction. She enjoys scuba diving and visiting wildlife parks, seeking new inspiration for cuddly characters for her stories. leela hope lives in an urban area of San Diego and is presently at work on a new book.
Great book, I love rhyming stories for kids. I really think it makes kids enjoy reading more. Add in a great story about learning to share and some fun pictures and you get one terrific book!
"Delightful Children's Book With Charming Illustrations"
Ernie is a small elephant who doesn't let negative comments about his size bother him any more. He has confidence and likes himself the way he is, especially since he has met Martin Mouse! They play together but sometimes Martin borrows too many of Ernie's toys. Ernie is willing to share with friends, but sometimes his toy box winds up empty. When it comes time for Ernie to borrow a toy from Martin, he becomes possessive ... not willing to share with Ernie. This is probably one of the most important lessons for even the youngest children to learn. I enjoyed this story and the beautiful, cute illustrations. Excellent rhyming narration, loved it. Check out the other books authored by Leela Hope, they all have wonderful ways to help children be better friends.
Ernie the Elephant has one friend smaller than himself, Martin Mouse. He shares his toys with Martin, but “while Martin took a lot, he never seemed to share back. Ernie gave but never got.”
This very short picture book uses short lines of text and some simple rhymes to tell how Ernie is hurt by Martin, and how Martin learns that “sharing tells friends you care.”
The pictures are bright and fun. The lesson is wise. And if the rhymes don’t quite fit the rhythm, that’s not what it’s all about. The book is perhaps surprisingly short, but in an e-reading world old rules about pages no longer apply. It would make a quick pleasing bedtime story.
Sharing and caring are important among friends, etc.
I enjoyed this and I find it a very creative and inspiring fun ebook for young early and beginner readers is who I would especially recommend it for. And feel because of such a great message here it needs five stars. I received this for free and have given it now an honest review. Sharing is caring! Great work Leela! By Angela
