Examines the personal archives of the classic movie's producer, David O. Selznick, and reveals prospective casting lists, pages from original scripts, costume sketches, and many more insights into the making of the movie
On the road to Tara: the making of Gone with the wind. The sections of this book are as follows-Scripts: Never hire one writer when eleven writers will do -- Tara -- Burning -- Censorship: Everyone except Rhett Butler gave a damn -- Production
This book is very enlightening. It's a must-purchase for every fan of the movie. My favorite part is an illustration of Rhett at the bottom of the gorgeous staircase having a drink. I think that it was whisky. It looked like it.
Found this while looking for another book. I didn't read most of it, but I did look at the numerous pictures. There is a ton of concept art, which could be pretty interesting, as well as some wardrobe and set stills I hadn't seen before. It also contains one of the "deleted scene" pictures of Belle Watling giving aid to wounded soldiers.
While I won't actually rate this, I want to say books like these are underrated in terms of rare pictures. Not everything is on the internet, folks!
Another superb Harmetz "Making Of. . ." All the trivia you can handle plus great photos & interviews. If you're a GWTW freak like me, this is indispensable!
