Kate Campbell promised to have an affair with a Parisian, says yes more than she says no and sin so she can actually have something to repent on Sunday. As a way to honor her grandmother's wishes, she takes a job as a traveling nurse so that she can see Europe—a trip they had once planned on taking together. She never bargained on meeting a sexy Scot who makes bad look so, so good, and he needs her help.
Quinton Baird, a retired, high-profile rugby player, has spent over a decade surrounded by people who all want something from him. From his former coaches to the groupies. He now has two rules for anyone he deals with: Don't talk to the press. Don't talk about him to anyone. Ever. His rules are the only way to protect himself from people wanting him to be their meal ticket. No matter how much he likes the sweet, sassy nurse, he can't believe she'll help him while asking for nothing in return.
So the deal between them is simple. All Kate has to do is pose as Quinton’s girlfriend in public. In exchange for helping him salvage an important business deal, Kate gets many opportunities to say yes—in bed and out of it.
Then reality, and the press, threaten their fictional romance. Quinton will have to trust that Kate's feelings for him are genuine or risk losing her for good.
Melissa Blue's writing career started on a typewriter one month after her son was born. This would have been an idyllic situation for a writer if it had been 1985, not 2004. Eventually she upgraded to a computer. She's still typing away on the same computer, making imaginary people fall in love.
I've read two of this author's books and both her H's are like uber-manho's. I'm wondering if thats a Scottish thing?? h is too nice, she has no defences against the H even when he's being a jerk. But I get that he brings fun to her super-boring life. Hot, pleasant novella length read.
2.5 stars. I didn't like this as much as the other books. I thought the characters weren't well developed and thought the plot was too thin. It may have been better if it was a little longer and could have developed more.
I love a romantic story featuring a sexy Scotsman. It must be due to my longstanding crush on Ewan McGregor, so Melissa Blue's Under the Kilt series suits me to a T. Each book revolves around a couple who you cheer for. The fourth book, Kilt Tease, is no different. This time the focus is on Quenton, a sexy ex-rugby player with a playboy reputation who needs to find someone to pretend to be his girlfriend to help him seal a lucrative endorsement deal. Enter Kate, a normally reserved American woman who's touring Europe as a part of honouring her grandmother's dying wish. When she and Quenton meet, sparks fly and you know you're going to be in for a treat.
What follows is sexy love story that features a brooding alpha male who's jaded by fame and people who always want something from him and a adventurous young woman who finds herself falling in love for real when their romance was only supposed to be on paper. Fast-paced and very sexy, Kilt Tease is a great page turner with complex characters and an interesting take on the fame game and how to handle it. Set against the backdrop of a wedding in Scotland, Kilt Tease has just about everything you could want for a sexy summer read.
Such a great book. I loved plucky Kate and sexy Quinton. The chemistry between these two was off the charts, the humor was dark and naughty and and the Scottish ambiance was exceedingly well done. A really fun read.
I listened to the audiobook and the ‘Scottish’ accent was awful & some of the language used wasn’t correct either. Inverness isn’t 1.5 hours from Glasgow (a small point that could very easily have been checked). Also as a rugby fan another issue that could’ve been checked is the position he’s meant to have played, he’s meant to be a huge guy and played scrum half but scrum halves are normally the smallest players on the team. Players are paid well & I appreciate he’s meant to have invested well but they’re not making enough to own a mansion with a butler.
I didn’t feel there was much of a story to be honest & likely wouldn’t read anymore of the series.
Melissa, you are a woman after my own heart. You have grabbed my heart with the modern-day Scot and Diana Gabaldon has grabbed my heart in ancient Scotland! I am so in love with the Scottish man and I will attest to this: We did not 'make' males like this back in the '50s, 60's or the 70's or I failed to notice and it is too late to take that adventure and am dreaming of someday finding my bucket list and making it to Ireland or Scotland and have the 'adventure' that I read about in both the old and new Scotland! Love the series Under The Kilt!
I loved this story ,the characters, the setting, every single thing about this, but in four different occasion there was a break in the editing. I would try and turn the page and come to a blank screen and then it would be two or more pages missing. Very hard to stay in a story with that much missing.
Finally, there are kilts! Kate and Quinton's story is mostly bantering and steamy moments and I still enjoyed it. Besides, fake dating is always a fun trope and Melissa Blue is awfully good with tropes.
This was a fun read, I love a good fake girlfriend plot. I really wish the secondary characters would have been filled out a bit more, I think it would have added to the richness of the story, but overall this is a fun quick read with a lot of spice.
With the third installment being such a hit for me, I was hoping for the same with this one. It started off well enough but unfortunately, the fourth volume was a let down. The seduction and first sex scene was fantastic but that's about it. Had it continued on the same path, this would've been another all time favorite. It was just meh after that.
Kilt Tease by Melissa Blue is book 4 in the ‘Under the Kilt’ series and centers on Quinton Baird who is trying to deal with the changes in his life after retiring from his beloved rugby team. He has a healthy distrust for anyone who isn’t family and doesn’t expect to discover that the sexy traveling nurse who’s there to take care of his uncle has hidden depths. Letting Katherine Campbell into his life is complicated by her determination to honor a promise made to her grandmother, but he convinces her to help him out while she’s in Scotland. The trouble is finding a way for them to truly trust each other, especially since there is already a predetermined end to their relationship.
This story is a great continuation to a wonderful series that combines deliciously sensual interludes with intense emotional conflicts. I have only read two of the stories about the sexy Baird males, but wow, one can’t help but adore these sexy and complex Scots and want to learn about all of the extended family. This author does a fantastic job of creating characters who have charisma, an unabashedly intense lust for each other, and a sniffle-inducing history that has shaped them into the complex folks who keep one spellbound throughout the story. I love the fact that, thus far, each of these stories can be read as a stand alone, yet the interconnection enriches the appreciation one develops as each of the family finds his happy-ever-after, albeit after going through some intense experiences, and I look forward to reading about more of these sexy Scots and the women who capture their hearts.
Dayum, Dayum, Dayum Melissa!!! You messed me up with this one! You already know that I love your work, but this one is my top choice of your books effective today! Kate and Quinton's story was a hell of a story. I'm not into spoilers, so I will just tell whoever' reading this review, "do not sleep on this amazing story from Melissa Blue"! Character chemistry was off the charts from beginning to end and I can't wait for the next release. There's no way you not not write another Amazing Kilt Pleaser! T
I've been a fan since the first Under His Kilt, and this book has to be my hands down favorite. I'm a romantic at heart and this book was so romantic and sweet and heartwarming and touching!! I loved all of the supportive characters, I loved the storyline which was very believable and how the leads evolved. The writing was superb and I found myself laughing often and getting misty eyed too. I thoroughly enjoyed this book Melissa Blue. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!
Another winning scottish story, shorter but no less steamy than the last. This on is with Quinton the rubgby player and Kate, the American nurse come to take care of The Baird, his uncle Douglas. I was a little worried at first because there was Lets-pretend-we-are-boyfriend-girlfriend trope. But the writing had poetic prose and had strong and honorable characters that the trite storyline weaved together a rich and vibrant romance. Well done.
Never met a person as sweet and genuine as Kate. She was a spitfire but someone who loved people. Quinton a successful rugby player had to deal with whether people loved him for him or if it was for his net worth. As they travel the path of discovery Quinton and Kate learn what trust and being vulnerable truly had in store for their relationship.
Poignant, a little wrenching, with a lot of loving. This story touched me on quite a few levels. Kate is working her way on a trip and takes the job of caring for the Baird after his recent heart attack. Then she meets his nephew Quitton. Just retired he hides a secret. After a picture ends up on a tabloid site Kate seems the best way to get what he wants and hires her. This begins the next installment of the Baird men..
It was okay. Just kind of tired of reading stories. Where the lead characters waste no time jumping each other's bones! Seems like it's always explosive sex that makes them fall in love with each other. And there was not enough conflict for me with his ex.
I have falling in love with the thought of a Scottish that is a alpha- hole! Thank you for writing the Kilt series I read them and i just fall in love with the characters and the writing!
A traveling nurse, a semi retired rugby player memories from granny to keep the heroine naught... err adventurous, nursing never looked quite as interesting a career choice....
