Anne Snow, who is from England, started reviewing indie horror books on Instagram, supporting and pushing indie work.

She soon stumbled upon the splatterpunk and extreme horror subgenres, finally finding something that spoke to her.

After making friends with a few indie authors, she dove straight into the deep end and decided to give writing a go herself, finding it extremely therapeutic and falling in love with it in the process.

Having struggled her whole life with masking and feeling different, she has found writing to be a healing, safe space.

Horror has always been a special interest of hers, whether it be movies, books or games. Now she can create stories of her own.

Anne Snow writes about things most are scared to read, let alone write themselves.

Anne Snow continues to hone her skills, delivering, a sharp, ultraviolent, character-focused plunge into the dark web. This one is more fleshed out than her previous work, benefiting greatly from the novella format. Ruby was just so fascinating, deeply disturbed but mesmerizing! The buildup was great during the first half. And of course, it all pays off with a gory, over-the-top climax. It does move a little too quickly here, packing a ton of surprises and violence in just a few pages, but it was still satisfying in many ways. (I won’t spoil anything, but I am hoping for a sequel. There's a certain character I need to know more about! 🤞)

Okay WOW. This book was tiny, but man she packed a punch. Anne knows exactly what to do to get your guts turnin’ 😂 It was foul, diabolical, and dark af. Ruby has got to be one of the most unhinged characters I’ve ever read but I just couldn’t get enough of her. But what I loved most about this book were the little twists and turns that kept me flying through the pages. I’m also embarrassed to admit that I LOVEDDDD the ending and couldn’t help but want more 😅 Maybe I should go and get my head checked 🤣

Lastly, HUGE thank you to my gorgeous friend Anne for sending me a copy of her newest book! Love you queen and I cannot WAIT to see what fucked up fairytale you give us next 😍

Bravo....Bravo!!! Another amazing read by the splatterpunk queen herself!!!

This was definitely a fun ride and to be honest, I had no idea where the story was going to end up.

I was so grossed out, but also kept giggling at certain names and words that were being used for certain objects bahaha. I have some saved in my highlights and notes from the novella if you want to check it out lol.

Ruby, my girl...or as Raptor called her a good girl, she just wanted to be seen and how she went about it was in such a dark and disturbing way.

Raptor...her obsession and the man who was going to care for her but also let her experience what she's always wanted...attention at an extreme.

But Raptor has a surprise for her and it's one you're going to want to read to find out for yourself.

HOLY FRICKEN TWIST IN THE STORY THAT HAD MY MOUTH DROP WIDDDDE OPEN!!!

Also, shout out to my boy Dylan who gets mentioned!!! I loved seeing this!!!

Summary: Starved of affection, Ruby goes on the web to shock those online with her actions of hurting herself. Then, the Raptor enters her life. Showing her the most depraved side of being online - and then eventually, in real life.

Review: This is a short extreme horror that packs a real punch. I have different feelings on Ruby, she was obviously very much needing affection, but the way she felt she had to get this was heartbreaking.

The 'reveal' was a shocker, I didn't expect that! Uncovering what happened with her mother and father, then the depravity of what she sees. All of it was an absolute wild rollercoaster of a ride!

Brutal and sharp like a knife. I really related to Ruby and her self harm. I actually had anxiety for most the entire book. I read this is less than 24 hours and in 2 sittings. The climax was ballsy and oh so gory. It took a twist I didn’t see coming. Excellent, I recommend all of the Fairytales for Freaks, and I’m looking forward to the last few to come out.

This is the fourth one of the freaky fairytales and I have bloody loved them all. No pun intended

Intense and fast paced, it’s for the horror reader on the go and leaves you wanting to read more. You’ll probably make a lot of faces while reading it too 😂 There are trigger warnings that should be taken into account. This book will gross you out but you can’t put it down!

This was the first book I’ve read from Anne Snow. The fourth story in The Fairytales for freaks series. I was immediately enthralled by the art on the cover of this book. Absolutely adore the artists art style!

I tend to find most extreme horror rather badly written and dislike, how it’s often always men writing extreme torture against women. (usually feeling like some kind of a fetish they’re into imo) Snow’s writing on the other hand feels raw and real. I stayed up until 4am to finish the book, since I just wasn’t able to put it down before I was entirely done with the story.

While reading this, I sympathised with our main character, Ruby, a ton. She has quite a shitty life going on and goes through a lot of bullshit no-one ever deserves to experience. The way this woman copes with her life is heartbreaking. All of the references to other fandoms and even the mention of another splatterpunk author, was really cool to see. Also the BACK TO BACK cruel plot twists were painful!! WTF GIRL!? While I understand that this is meant to be a short story, I would’ve liked to have seen her getting deeper into the dark web/snuff film industry world. The ending also didn’t go in the direction I had hoped. That’s why this is rated 4.5 stars. Overall this is one hundred percent my top favourite recent read. I NEED to read the other three stories, that were released before this, soon as well. I’m obsessed with your work now btw :)b

Holy shit! This was a bite-size read that left me wanting more. I felt sympathetic for Ruby and the mess she fell into with seeking validation. I wanted to give her a hug for everything she endured. And then things got intense with the dark web and my jaw hit the floor. The twists, the drama, the dash of, likely deluded, feminine rage. I ate it all up. I haven’t read much splatterpunk or extreme horror and this makes me want to read more, especially of Ruby and Raptor. I need the extended cut of this story pronto!

Our MC, Ruby lives a tortured, and lonely life. Her mother left her and her father for a man that she played online games with, leaving Ruby to live with her absent truck driving father, who leaves her money on the table on the very rare occasions that he comes home, before hitting the road again. In an attempt to get attention from others, and gain acceptance, Ruby mutilates herself, and posts the pictures in different chats and forums. Any attention makes Ruby feel something, other than the molly she had become addicted to. Negative, or positive. It was all the same to her. Soon, however, Ruby is kicked from almost all of the platforms. This really upsets Ruby, as this is all she has in life. Shortly after, still having full access to her Dizkord, Ruby is contacted by a user named "Raptor". Raptor is charming, and gives Ruby the attention that she craves, praising her for her injuries, and introducing her to a platform that she had yet to explore. The Dark Web. Raptor sends Ruby a video that takes what she does to a more extreme level. It is a link to a live snuff feed, with viewers who makes special requests for different levels of violence. Ruby is somewhat disturbed, but still intrigued as Raptor's hold on her tightens. Craving his attention, Ruby eventually agrees to meet up with Raptor at the old teddy bear factory for a whole new experience. But, does Ruby really know what she has gotten herself into? And, how far is she willing to go for the smooth, and conniving Raptor? This was brutal as fuck! The levels of violence that this book had really pushed the envelope, and had a phenomenal level of creativity! The twist ending was the cherry on top! This has to be one of the best I have read by Anne.

Woah, that was an awesome ride! It has been a while since a book, film, game or anything made my heart literally speed up because I NEEDED to know what was going to happen next! Read it in one sitting!

I'll admit, my first contact with Anne Snow's work was "Two Little Piggies" and that story wasn't my thing because of my personal taste and some pet peeves I had with the style. But even then, I was like "Wow, this writer really has something special, tons of potential and a great imagination, I should check out more of her stuff and keep an eye on her".

And so, I moved onto this novella and I said, I greatly enjoyed it and ate it up in one sitting! It was also a godsend after a writer's block because my last read wasn't a hit.

As other comments have some highlited, I think the pacing is a bit too fast at times and I also have a few pet peeves and there, but I'd still say it has been one of my best reads this year. Will totally keep an eye out for the fairytale collection coming soon and the teased sequel of this.

I'd like to

1. Congratulate Ann Snow for all her hard work, determination to keep going despite the state of the industry and vast improvement on her writing.

2. Thank her for giving me motivation to get off my ass and keep writing/go back to my many abandoned WIPS because I'm never gonna finish a book if I don't lock in and write.

Anne Snow is one of the many queens of splatterpunk fiction I've been hearing a lot of praise for. I've been wanting to read a horror story about the dark web for a while now, so when this came up on my feed, I had a strong feeling this would be right down my alley.

Ruby is a lonely girl, in her lonely apartment, her mother is gone and her father can't stand to be close to her. She's a sick individual in need of help, she posts pictures of self-harming herself to the web in order to get the attention she seeks, but when she's banned from the website she posts to, she loses hope, until Raptor messages her with a proposal that leads her to the dark web. Some places should never be visited, no matter how sick you are.

Anne Snow has written an incredibly disturbing and quite frankly clever narrative that has a lot to say about toxic individuals, the harsh and brutal reality of the dark web and what someone maybe capable of doing in order to survive. It's a very gut-turning tale that had my jaw drop to the floor in horror.

TW: Mutilation, Self-Harm, S*xual-Ass*ult, R*pe, Humiliation, Voyeurism, Stalking, Snuff-Film, Violence Against Women, The Dark Web, etc (pretty much everything under the sun except a*imal-ab*se.)

Overall: An incredibly disturbing narrative that has left me horrified to my very core. Will be thinking of this one for days. 10/10

Anne Snow is now one of my auto buy authors because Little Red Riding the Dark Web had me HOOKED - it was f*cking insane in the best way! Every time I thought the carnage had peaked, Anne somehow looked me in the eye and said, “Hold my drink,” because the savagery just kept getting worse… and I was eating up every brutal page.

I also adored that Ruby’s notebook being included as actual images throughout the book - that little detail was *chef’s kiss* It made everything feel so much more immersive and added an extra layer of unease that I adored.

I always live for an Easter egg, and there was plenty in the book, which I am here for 🤓

If you’re an extreme horror fan who loves a story that keeps escalating and still manages to shock you at the end, this is one you need to pick up!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I can confidently say that I am now sat for the rest of her books! As someone who has always been fascinated by the idea of the dark web, this story scratched so many itches in my brain and did not skimp out on showing how brutal the darkest parts of the internet can be.

Ruby’s character is so well thought out, and I can’t help but feel for her. This book is a great representation of how far some push themselves in order to be seen.

This was my first time reading Anne Snow’s work and I am HOOKED! Her writing style is descriptive, original, and easy to follow. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and held it all the way to the end, leaving me guessing what would happen next. I highly recommend it to spatterpunk fans and am looking forward to reading her other fairytales.

Very interesting and tragic story. The little twists and turns were delightful and captivating. Ruby’s desire to be wanted, seen, loved is relatable and grounding. I wish we got more of her in the beginning to make her ARC more solid. It did feel a bit rushed but this was certainly effective. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick & twisted, gory treat.

Little Red Riding the Dark Web was a good read to wake me up on this lazy Sunday morning. This brutal tale pulls no punches and doesn’t let up until the bitter end. The visceral descriptions in several parts made me cringe. The book was fast, depraved, and highly enjoyable for a seasoned extreme horror reader.

Damn, poor Ruby didn't catch a break her whole life. Brutal stuff. Really liked the buildup on this that lead up to the last few pages. I liked the additions of The Ugly Duckling, and the ideas of this being an interconnected series now.

WOW! This book is so dark and depraved. It’s very gory, and the gore is very well written and described. Which is something that I really enjoy in splatterpunk and extreme horror books. So well described that I felt a little uneasy reading it in some parts. That being said, it is honestly a really good thing when reading books like this. They’re supposed to push limits and make you feel a bit uncomfortable. Anne Snow did a really good job, and I hope to see more of RUBTOR in the future!

I wish I could give 3.5 stars because im really torn.

I like splatterpunk in theory. I love gore and gross shit. but every time I read it, I feel like there's something to be desired. I think there's a psychological element missing for me. I like my fucked up books to really get me inside the head of the fucked up characters. to understand why they are the way that they are.

this one did that to some degree, which is why I think i liked it more than others ive read. I could see why Ruby was so attention seeking, having grown up so neglected by both of her parents.

I guess I wish I had been able to spend more time with her as a protag. I thought she was really interesting.
