Celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Alessandro Lucioni might be gorgeous, but I will never forget what we shared in Paris five years ago…or how he broke my heart!
And now he's standing in front of me, asking for my help with his young niece—and determined to pick up where we left off! But this time I won't be his consolation prize. I will remain strong. Yet with memories of those magical blazing nights swirling through my mind, he's just so very hard to resist…
I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.
I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.
I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.
Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.
I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.
Five years ago Dr Alessandro Lucioni had a fling with Jemima Clark. But their paths parted and all that is left is the magic from that time.
But now he is standing infront of her to enroll his niece in her school, and suddenly all the magic from Paris comes flooding back. But those aren't the only memories that invade their space, it's the heartache and drama from five years ago that knocks them from their very neatly crafted lives.
Jem knows she has to remain strong and literally fight the feelings that threaten to overwhelm her, as for Alessandro he has to come to terms to face what he left behind when he let Jem go. ( I will add that it was truly heartbreaking to run through this character's emotions with him, it broke my heart into a million pieces and all I wanted to do was find a way to fix my own heart , thanks to the author it was fully repaired once Alessandro sees the light !)
But as we all know when the pressure of a high class job pops up in life it's never as easy as saying " Okay I let go of this all for the one I love". And that is exactly what it is like for our sexy Doc. The story is told in first person and I am honest when saying I usually do not like that at all. It just somehow always feels wrong, but Melanie Milburne made it work. I loved being placed front and center and deep in the heart of all the drama from the characters pov's.
And the ending , just wow, it was intense, heartwarming and left me with a very big grin on my face. A stunning story of secrets finally setting the characters free, a love being rekindled and life just simply working out perfectly !
Highly recommended 5/5 star review

HER GREEK DOCTOR’S PROPOSAL by author Robin Gianna is a Harlequin Medical Romance series release for June 2015.
Laurel Evans was on an archaeological dig in Greece to fulfil her dead parents dream of finding the elusive statue which her parents believed was hidden in this dig where they lost their lives. She is alarmed when her team leaders then some team members stared being sick. What was this sickness? Was it linked to their dig? Then local Dr. Andros Drakoulias urged her to close the dig because of health risks associated with it. Would Andros agree when Laurel lets everyone go but stay behind to look for the statue on her own?
He was in love with her but would he stand in her way or let her go? Did she find the statue she was looking for?
HER GREEK DOCTOR’S PROPOSAL is a romance set in the exotic Delphi. I loved reading about author Robin Gianna’s strong heroine and gorgeous Greek doctor. The medical drama is fast and would keep a reader’s attention hooked till the last page.
Both stories are highly recommended for all readers of medical romance.
This is such a great story one that will have you laughing out loud and smiling throughout as Jem and Alessandro re kindle a love that was short but strong five years before in Paris. Jem has led a very different life with her hippy parents travelling around England from one guru to another and has always longed for a normal life for her herself and her sister Bertie, but she has done well and is a teacher in a girls private school in Bath and loves her job and when she thinks she has gotten over her affair with Alessandro he arrives at her school with his 6 year old niece and the spark that shoots between them is just as strong as it was 5 years before it is like a piece of string has been shot to link them and although he will not commit to forever he does want a fling with Jem you see he has never gotten over the beautiful fun loving girl he met in Paris years ago she makes him laugh and she makes him feel but his life is not his own at the moment way too many commitments with his job as a top surgeon and his sister and niece and demons from his childhood.
This story is in first person and is so good we met Jem previously in her sister Bertie's story (A Date With Her Valentine Doc) and I always wanted Jem's story and here it is the feelings she has for her parents will have you laughing out loud as with the help of Alessandro's niece Claudia she comes to the realization that her life wasn't that bad and she also opens up with a secret that she has kept for many years and the relief this gives her will have you smiling as well and Alessandro also opened up about his past which he had kept to himself all those years ago in Paris. This is such an awesome story I loved the way that Jem made Alessandro understand that he could have a very sensual and wonderful life together really this is a story not to be missed it is beautifully written and will pull you in from page one it is sensual fun and it is going to stay with me for a long time I highly recommend this one you will laugh and smile.

Jem Fletcher a teacher in a private school is wondering why she is called into the headmistress' office. What she finds is Dr. Alessandro Lucioni a man she had an affair with 5 years ago. His sister is ill so he takes on caring for his niece but because of his schedule feels its best if she boards at the school which is where Jem works. Written in the first person, you are able to see how Jem fights with herself over her past with him including the anger and hurt that he caused. He feels his career does not have room for a commitment to a women so what transpires is two people who want what the other doesn't must find neutral ground for the niece. They find out that they really both want the same things, it just takes time to get there. Lovely story and I am very fortunate that Ms. Milburne send me a copy for an honest review because its a book not to be missed.
A second chance romance with lots of sizzling scenes. ❤ Nicely written (except for my comments below) Ms Milburne is usually one of my favourite authors, but with this book I'm on the fence.
Firstly, the grammar errors in this book involving "me/I" and the use of them in different sentence contexts, threw me for a loop. What were the Harlequin editors thinking! There shouldn't have been ANY errors AT ALL. 😪 This story is written in the first person past tense, and I don't really like the way the author tackled this style. Also - the comparisons - I don't know the official word for this type of writing, but it's really irritating, (and something the author does all the time - not just in this book) eg - using a phrase that starts with 'like' - (like a wet noodle, like electricity buzzing, like a bird soaring, etc) Takes me right out of a story.
Anyway, rant over. I will still buy anthing this author writes. 🙂
They met in Paris five years before. But after a short time separated. Now he is at the school where she works with a child. He is a very busy man and needs to board his niece. Was this date playing a part in her life again? He tells her he can only do short time together. No commitments. Will this work for the gen after what happened in the past?
The ending was a disappointment. I honestly didn't like the story being told as if it was someone writing in a diary. Being told in the "first person" got really annoying.
A wonderfully crafted story filled with love and humor, all the while still managing to also approach serious subject matter with dignity.
Jem is the sister to Bertie who has her story A Date With Her Valentine Doc (A Valentine to Remember Book 1). Written in exactly the same format I have to say I give this delightful story a 5 star! It's not the normal format for Melanie Milburne's books, so that's your first treat. The second treat is the humour and the refreshing way of writing that Melanie uses in these two books.
Jem is floored when Alessandro arrives at the private girls school she teaches at to enrol his neice. What neice? He never said he had any family when they had their (two hands up people) "relationship"... 5 years ago feels like yesterday and from Chapter One Melanie captured me and had me laughing and sighing and fast page turning... absolutely loved it!
Alessandro enlists Jem's help with his niece who has a speech impediment and decides at the same time decides to face what he and Jem once had. With all the complications going on in her life and facing the past it's all a bit too hard for Jem to go back and open up old wounds. Her parents are crazy different and her sister is all loved up and her job at the prestigious girls school take up all her time but Alessandro doesnt give up and together they open each others closets and shake those skeletons out.
I dont know how to describe the format of writing (because I'm no littary expert lol) except to say it's so refreshing, fresh, funny, bright and humerous so when the serious stuff does come up it's a bit of a shock but quite well handled I think. I've read a few deep and meaningfuls lately so reading this beautiful story was like waking up to a crisp spring morning after a night of thunderstorms.
I love and adore Melanie Milburne's stories and I think it's truly talented to write in different styles and still be a winning combination of keeping me entertained and well engrossed in a story.
ARC received for honest opinion - thank you Melanie for giving me the opportunity to share my opinion <3
Italian Surgeon to the Stars by Melanie Milburne Story starts with Jem Clark who is a teacher in a boarding school and getting called to the headmistress’s office. When she opens the door she finds Dr. Alessandro Lucioni who was a man she had affair with 5 years earlier. Her first thought what is he doing here? This is a boarding school for girls! Well his sister became ill and her daughter needs to come to the boarding school. Jem never lost her feelings for Alessandro and turns out neither did he. Jem never could find a man to meet the standard set by Alessandro! During the story Dr. Lucioni met Jem’s parents and operated on her dad. Jem cares about Claudia who is Alessandro’s niece and it brought back her feelings of at one point wanting the whole marriage, children and all but had put it to the back burner the last 5 years. Both Alessandro and Jem both honestly talk about their past and things that had happened to them which they had not talked about during that affair and which led to there being a total misunderstanding on both sides. This is a must read book and I look forward to other books by Melanie Milburne.
Hey guys, permit me to give you a gushing review towards ITALIAN SURGEON TO THE STARS BY MELANIE MILBURNE.
IT HAS BEEN PURE DELIGHT TO HAVE READ AND ENJOYED THIS HEARTY BOOK. THE STORY IS TANTALIZING, SPICY AND ENTERTAINING. THE CHARACTERS ARE WHOLESOME, STRONG AND THEIR SIZZLING CHEMISTRY SPARKS OFF THE PAGES! THE DIALOGUE IS SNAPPY AND ENGAGING. THE SETTING IS CHARACTER IN ITSELF AND I ENJOYED READING ABOUT THE H/h's JOURNEY as they discover each other all over again in the most intimately passionate way.
Dr Alessandro Lucioni had a fling with Jemima Clark five years ago but things fell apart between them. They lost touch and possibly forgotten all about the other. After an encounter at Jemima's school, Jem finds out she still has the hots for one of the most popular doctors in the medical field and the only man to set her on fire. It is up to her to take yet another risk involving her heart and surely it will be all Alessandro's pleasure to show her how to loosen up and savor the moment. :)
A story where I never know what the hero thinks until and unless he says so as the book is in first person P.O.V of the heroine, Jem Clark.
A school teacher who believes in giving the best so that her students grow to their complete potential (we definitely need more teachers like those in real life), she has always had a dream of being married one day. That dream was destroyed when she believed this 'Italian Doctor' Allessandro breaks her heart which actually she breaks herself, really.
A misunderstanding not communicated through delays their forever by five years. Five years in which both of them are not really content with anything as they find something missing. Something integral to their being.
It takes this second chance for them to realise it though.
