This book was truly sad yet so sweet at the same time. The love between both characters were so pure. And the yearning? pls i almost looked at myself with a sigh, realising i could never have love like that.
"She did not want him to win because it would free her from the others. No, she wanted him to win because he was him. He was Callias. "
"If my death brings you peace then I shall glady meed my end."
"Arabella, I never knew something was missing from my life until I met you. I love you endlessly and there is not a single part of me that does not belong to you."
"Princess, please go home. Live the life they tried to take from you and forget about me." "Forget you? No Callias YOU are my home."
"Callias never knew a smile could make his heart beat out of his chest until it was hers."
These are just some of the quotes and oh boy there are A LOT more. It is safe to say that Calisa Azmelle knows how to do quotes right without sounding like a quote farmer. Her first book, A Kingdoms Heart was equally good with slightly better quotes which is why I am giving this book 4 stars, but nonetheless i devoured it in a sitting and truly wish for more historical romances from this young , talented author.
i read the authors first princess x knight book, absolutely loved it and just had to see her next and oh boy this one is a lot better. Though I must say the other one had far better quotes, this one had far better worldbuilding, tension and pacing.
I absolutely loved both female and male yearning and how both characters were described. There were so many emotions surrounding this book and the writing was phenomenal. Callias and Nikolas's friendship was honeslty one of my favorite parts of this entire book as it was written so well.
And the villians? Each one of their moves were very unexpected. You think one thing happens, but then something completely different happens. It was fun to read and i would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a princess x knight trope because honestly this might be my favorite princess x knight story yet.
I absolutely loved this book and finished it in a single day. My heart broke for Arabella, and I was completely invested in her story from beginning to end. I was devastated when the Knight died, and then when Arabella died as well. The ending was heartbreaking, but I think that’s what made it so powerful.
What I loved most was how their story lived on as a legend. Even though they both died, their love didn’t disappear, it became something immortal. In a way, it reminded me of Romeo and Juliet. Their story is tragic because the characters don’t get their happy ending, but their love survives beyond death and is remembered long after they’re gone. It was a beautiful message about how true love can outlast even the darkest endings, and it left a lasting impression on me.

okay I think i just found my favirote book because it had no rights to be THIS GOOD?!!??!
The writing was phenomenal. The wordbuilding was my favirote part because it truly felt like I was in the middle ages. I just love how the book was able to describe everything perfectly, from the law to the tiny cottages themselves.
I really cried during this book and so will you. Which is good because this book is fantastic at capturing the emotions of the readers.
So please, if you have not already, do yourself a favor and read this indie gem
«She didn’t want him to win because it would free her from the others. She wanted him to win because he was him. Because he was Callias.
Callias did not care about her beauty. He just cared because she was herself. Because she was Arabella»
I had the privilege to read this book as a beta reader and I can tell you, this will be your favorite book of the year. I can not believe that this author is just 18 years old.
I can't wait for her next book and truly hope it comes out as soon as possible
Great book. I love the relationship between Calias and Arabella, it's so captivating. You really get to know the characters through the book, and get this familiarity with them. They're not just two typical characters, but they seem like they've been carefully crafted. Something I have found constantly through Azmelles books. I recommend anyone looking for princess and knight trope to read this book. Wow, it really lived up to its hype.
Oh My God........ I have no words. Did i just find my all time favorite historical romance? heck yeah. This book was so sweet, so devestaing and the yearning and tension made me cry because i realised i could not have love like that irl. If you have not read this yet, then you definetly should. it is so worth it and the author is truly talented.
ok but why was it so good? I thought at first it would just be a sweet romance, but there were some dark things there and i devoured it. Both main characters are likeable and i like how princess arabella was not spoiled but truly wanted to earn what was given to her
