Dennis R. Shealy is the author of many children’s books, including the popular Little Golden Books I’m a Truck, I’m a T. Rex!, My Little Golden Book About Dinosaurs, My LIttle Golden Book About the Solar System, I’m a Bulldozer, and The Noisy Garage. He lives in New York City with his wife and son.
Ai yai yai! I know this is a children's book but did they really have to water it down that much?
I really take issue with the way they decided to illustrate the story. What's with the bubble-muscled dudes? The iconic costumes are one of the best things about superheroes. The story was really meh.
The first half is a super hero intro, where they keep calling themselves the "super friends"...um what?
The second half is where the robot comes in. It's a kryptonite powered robot controlled by lex luthor. He taps Superman and all the other superheros work together to save him. Actually the story is not all bad, it was just hard to look at.

It is inspiring, and it tells you that a good pack of friends can help you go a long way. - AW
I like it, but it wasn't my absolute favorite. - AR
I liked it because sometimes I have moments where I like superheroes. - KE
It was really impressive and really amazing, like I've never seen before; they have so strong powers, and they work together as a team to help one another, and then they work to help other people too. Being together is better than being alone. - SA
I like it that they are working together to beat bad guys. - EAV
It almost made me cry because it's too beautiful, the friendships. - YMP
This is another two books in one book, which I like because of the cost effectiveness of it. Attack of the Robot was a good, action packed story that kept my nephew entertained and interested. We especially enjoyed the ending of the story.
Heroes United was a little slower paced, and was really more of an introduction to each of the main Super Friends (Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Flash, and Green Lantern) and their super powers. This didn't hold my nephew's attention quite as well as Attack of the Robot, probably because he already knows who these heroes are and what they can do. Still, it's a fine read for the age group for which it's intended.
