Wow! Just...wow! Bingham knows how to deliver a story that'll tug at your heart, make you swoon, & leave you begging for a little more reading time to devour every single page. Renegade was an amazing read and, whew, it packed a punch as two individuals with the weight of the world on their shoulders find that maybe, just maybe, what they need most is someone by their side to help weather the storms.

The quick of it is that Bronte and her daughters have run from a bad situation. They've come cross country to the safety of her grandmother's home to regroup but instead of a warm embrace Bronte finds even more worries piled onto her shoulders, emotional strife with her daughters and an irresistibly tempting stranger who keeps crossing her path.

These two. I just. They gabbed my heart completely. Bronte and Jace are both struggling with raising children on their own--he's raising his younger brain damaged brother-- and their responsibilities have left them exhausted and lonely. They were just such amazing individuals--caring, dependable and willing to give their all to the people they love--and so much stronger than they thought they were.

I really loved them together. Their romance is a little slower moving due to the children and other responsibilities but it worked. They were wonderful. They didn't push each other or create drama in the relationship and there was just an ease between them as they were getting to know one another. They had the type of romance I would love. It's not flashy or in your face but it's solid, strong and runs deep. It was wonderful seeing them heal and find comfort in one another when life was hard.

The kids were an interesting addition to the mix adding humor, frustrations, incredibly sweet moments and some utterly heartbreaking ones. There are some darker undertones now and again and they had me in tears more than once. I did love them as a whole, though. It was incredibly touching watching Bronte and Jace fall in love with not just each other but with the kids as well.

All in all, Bingham, once again, blew me away with an emotional and heartfelt romance that left me breathless and touched the soul. Absolutely beautiful. This is a series that shouldn't be missed.

Five reasons to grab Renegade

Each of the stories in this series involves one of the Taggart brothers and Renegade shared with us Jace Taggart’s story. Jace is the leader of this clan and Bingham continued to surprise me throughout the tale as she peeled back his layers. He is the good guy who has sacrificed for love of family and in Renegade; he discovers sometimes the good guy gets the girl.
Bingham brings surprising depth to her characters and stories. She skillfully weaves in multiple storylines surrounding our couple and secondary characters. This  allows the reader to become completely immersed in the story. I found myself wanting to pack my bags and move to this small town in the Wasatch Mountains
Bronte Cupacek and her two girls arrive and quickly acclimate themselves with the town and our hearts. I connected with Bronte despite not having her life experiences. She is strong, but doesn't realize it and seeing her blossom was enjoyable. I adored Lily and the side story involving Jace’s special needs brother. It melted my heart y’all!! Bingham  shared their back story and made the characters feel genuine. She captured Bronte’s tween and the difficulties adapting to life outside the city all while balancing time between character growth and the budding romance.
While the story works as a standalone, the author shares updates on the previous couple. We also receive information on the next brother and local happenings. I loved that none of the threads suffered and that each character grew as the storylines weaved together towards our HEA.
The romance between Jace and Bronte felt genuine, and I enjoyed how they worked to find balance between their growing feelings and family. Bingham weaved in banter between the brothers. They were at times hilarious and will have you giggling aloud. The tale was not overly heated but she brought heat through words and stolen moments adding a nice zing to an otherwise clean contemporary.

Renegade was a strong, delightful second book in the series and one that shouldn't be missed.

After my first encounter with the Taggart family of brothers in Desperado, I was eager to return to Utah ranching country for Jace's story. The contemporary western small town setting, the engaging characters, and the gently character driven plot made it easy to settle in and appreciate. The Taggarts brothers are all so different, but I love them as a whole and love seeing each find romance.

This is book two in the Taggart brothers series. I think a person could get by reading it as a standalone or out of order, but there are several references and an ongoing side storyline back to Elam and PD's earlier romance. So best if read in order.

The story opens with Bronte and her girls limping into Bliss, tired and heartsore, hoping for a new start. Bronte spent many a pleasant summer at her Grandma Annie's spread and then lost the connection when her controlling ex-husband cut her off. Now she has left that life in Boston behind and her grandmother and her grandmother's home is the place that pulls her most. Her old van limps into Annie's drive and expires on the spot, she has little money and must find a job, Annie's home looks worn out like Bronte feels, and now a handsome stranger tells her that Annie took a bad fall and is in critical condition at the hospital.
The cowboy calmly takes charge and helps her and the girls out and then continues to help them get on their feet. Bronte doesn't want to feel beholding to anyone, but realizes that she really does need the help and realizes that Jace and the rest of Bliss have made their new home a welcome, friendly place.
Jace Taggart is far and beyond what she ever had with her ex, but she has to focus on her girls and getting her mess of a life back in order. If his tender and patient care of his younger brother, his responsible nature, and his smoldering eyes affect her, well maybe she should give this thing between them a chance.

Jace is the responsible brother. While Elam went off to fight in the war and came back a little broken from the war and death of his wife and while Bodie goes off to work the rodeos and sow his wild oats, Jace was the middle son who came back to shoulder the reins of the ranch and care for their younger brother with disabilities. His dreams were left in his past and he knows no woman would ever take him and a boy-man who will never leave home.
Life presses in and he feels the need to get away or snap, until Bronte and her girls arrive. Part of him shies back from yet one more responsibility, but from the moment he decides to help out the beleaguered family, he knows this is different. With her girls looking at him like he has horns and knowing that his own youngest brother is a huge responsibility, he doesn't see how it could possibly work out. Jace wants to try.

This one was a delightful surprise. The first one was exciting and passionate between Elam and PD and their Wild West Contest whereas this one changed pace and tone for Jace and Bronte's story. It was tender and heartwarming as these two lonely souls connected and worked at a blended family romance.

All the complications of divorce and an ex with a drug addiction along with Jace's responsibilities are the barriers. I liked how the author chose to go with these alone and didn't whip up unnecessary stuff. It was the perfect amount of conflict. And when that final secret came out, it nearly broke my heart.

As a result of Bronte's recovery from her divorce, they attempt to take things slow. It probably still happened fast since it was a matter of a few short weeks, but the relationship felt developed since they were neighbors and seeing each other every day and often not just out of their clothes, either. I loved their courtship. Both of them missed that part of being young for different reasons and now they get the chance- slipping away for sweets and kisses, for making out, and for spiffing up for dinners and parties, bringing flowers, and laying out under the night sky. They are an adorable couple and I reveled in their romance.

The surrounding story including the children was well written, too. The girls have to adjust to their new circumstances and young Lily is carrying an even heavier burden. I saw that coming so it wasn't too big of a surprise even though the details left me with my mouth gaping and then a strong desire to do bodily harm to the one responsible. Go Jace for taking care of that for me! And then there was Barry who saw the world in a way that is different, but his simple understanding guided them all.

Alongside, Jace's story with Bronte, there was the follow-up for Elam and PD. Loved catching up with them and anticipating Bodey's story next.

In summary, this was a fantastic second book of the series that takes it's tone from the current brother. Western Contemporary Romance fans should really take a close look at this book/series.

My thanks to Penguin Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely LOVED this book!

I cannot tell you how incredible this book is, but I’m sure going to try! I connected deeply with the story and the characters. Bronte was amazing in her strength, not too prideful and totally and completely likeable. I respected and admired her character very much.

When I read books, I usually have a connection to the heroine but this time it’s with the hero, Jace. I saw a lot of myself and my past/present circumstances in him and his story. The struggles he had with being true to himself battling with responsibilities and expectations placed upon his shoulders. I totally “got” where he was coming from and was so excited when he found some well-deserved happiness with Bronte and her daughters.

The most powerful part of the book for me (other than the romance) was Jace’s relationship with his younger brother Barry. Barry is a mentally disabled teenager who Jace has been guardian of ever since their parents died. Having a special needs child myself, I deeply empathized with Jace and the struggles he faced with Barry. And I completely LOVED Barry. He reminded me so much of my own son that it literally felt like I was reliving memories. That relationship between Jace and Barry as well as with their brothers Elam and Bodey was just so special. I could never seem to hold back my emotions when Barry was sharing page time with his brothers and, well, with anyone else.

Jace and Bronte are perfect for each other. I loved how they recognized their feelings for each other but they were very cognizant and respectful of Bronte’s daughters’ and Barry’s feelings on the subject. If they were hurt or confused, the couple backed off, even though it hurt to do it. Bronte and Jace both understood and were sensitive to the kids’ feelings which were important and vital to the success, or failure, of their relationship.

The secondary characters were amazing and made the story even greater. I loved Elam and Bodey and everyone else in the small Utah town of Bliss. I love the town “grapevine” where everyone is gossiping and always in each other’s business. I loved that volunteers came out to get Bronte’s grandmother’s house ready before she came home from the hospital. And I loved how Jace and Bronte were able to blossom—individually and as a couple—under the watchful eye of friends, family and the town of Bliss.

This is my first read from Lisa Bingham and I am completely enamored, enraptured and entranced! This is the book I’ll be using to measure all others against. Ms. Bingham has set the bar high and I just can’t wait to visit the people of Bliss, Utah again! 10 Stars for RENEGADE!

I didn’t expect to need tissues but I so did…

Bronte Cupacek learned early to be independent, but she knew she needed her grandmother to help her and her daughters get through the changes their family was going through. What she didn’t expect was the helping hand offered by Jace Taggart, her granny’s neighbor and friend. She needed to focus on her family but it was hard to resist the attraction she felt for him. He was handsome, dependable and oh, so irresistible.

Jace felt that attraction too, keenly, but he had enough responsibilities and was not looking for more. It looks like they both aren’t looking for each other, for love, but that’s not where the story ends…

I loved the first book in this series and I was eagerly waiting Jace’s story. Oh, the emotions, the feels this series has! My first official read of the New Year and I had to crack open a brand new box of tissues—I hadn’t expected that… I shouldn’t be surprised, though, as this author understands people and every emotion they could possibly feel.

While not somber, there are some serious topics covered in this book and they are treated so poignantly that those tissues were not far away. Jace and Bronte were struggling, and how they come together, with family and friends, to meet those challenges squeezes my heart all the way along. No quick fixes, no magic wand but lots of courage and determination and love… Sigh… sniff…

“Bronte realized she’d also found the missing pieces to a new family. Time would take care of the rest.”

Loved it! I can’t wait for Bodey’s story next… ~ Diane, 4.5 stars

My Review:
I liked the whole self sacrifice to put family before yourself angle and finally being able to find your HEA after giving up on it for so long. Both Jace and Bronte are characters you can relate to both for who they are today and who they were in the past. I thought they made a good couple together and I liked seeing them overcome the complications to be stronger together.

I am truly enjoying this series; this second book is entertaining, yet emotional, as the author takes us back to the small town of Bliss, Utah. These Taggart brothers are incredibly sexy and hard to ignore.

Jace Taggart is the second oldest of the brothers but takes it upon himself to care of the family, he was always the one taking home the hurt animal or the new kid in town. But when he was younger he got into a fight with his father about his choice of a career and left for two years to study art in Europe. He did not return home until his parents were killed in an accident that also left the youngest brother Barry mentally disabled, but again he took up the reins of protector and provider.

Bronte Cupacek left Boston in the middle of the night with her two young daughters, escaping an abusive husband who threatened the girls. She travels to Bliss, Utah to find her grandmother Annie, but when she gets to her destination, she learns that Annie fell down some stairs and is in the hospital. Uncertain of her next move she finds Jace on the doorstep coming to the rescue; it is just something he does.

They strike up a tentative friendship but it is quickly put on hold because of the fragile state of her kids so soon after the divorce, and Barry who takes it upon himself to protect her youngest daughter Lily. Yet the attraction is there and soon they are sneaking around to find areas they can be alone.

Yet another reason this author is going on my auto buy, she again pulled me into this amazing world where I experienced many emotions as these two families worked through their issues.

Bronte is a woman on the edge; she tried to help her ex-husband for many years, but the time came when things were just too dangerous to stay. She is experiencing an enormous amount of guilt and remorse, either she did not try hard enough or she stayed too long, either way we are riding the emotional wave with her. Kari, her oldest daughter is so angry and she takes it out on Bronte, which was hard to read, while Lily is too quiet and sinks into herself where only Barry can reach, a heartbreaking family drama.

Jace is the perfect beta hero, he takes care of everyone and he is so sweet about it, rarely thinks twice. I love how he is with Barry, a ten year old in a sixteen year old body, with Jace being so patient with him. He falls fast for Bronte but realizes she is going through too much to make more changes in her life and tries to gives her space.

I enjoyed re-visiting Bliss; it is small town America where the people embrace these newcomers. I loved seeing both Bodey and Elam again and look forward to Bodey’s story next. There are other secondary characters but they play small parts as the story takes place mainly on these two ranches with these two families. The pace works well; I read it quickly as the author kept me engaged until the end and although it is the second in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone, the author keeps all readers informed. There is some drama toward the end but it flows well with the story, the romance is both sweet and hot as the two find interesting places to be alone before they let everyone know they were more than just neighbors. Definitely an emotional romance with heart that I highly recommend.

Renegade is the second book in the Taggart Brothers series. I haven’t read the first in the series, but I didn’t have any trouble keeping up with what was happening so this novel can be easily read as a stand-alone. It was easy flowing and a nice afternoon read.

The couple in the story is Jace Taggart who has been sacrificing his own future ever since tragedy struck, he felt he had to take over the family business and look after his brothers. Of course this is when the beautiful Bronte Cupacek arrives to town. She has arrived in town after ending a painful marriage and the last thing on her mind is another man.

Secrets always have a way at coming out, which is exactly what happens to Jace and Bronte. They both are the heads of their family unit and feel as if the weight of the world is on them. They struggle with looking after their family, finding a way to forgive and open their heart to trust again.

It is a beautiful story about compassion while still having the storyline build enough that its both entertaining, endearing and has enough fireworks to keep the story moving.

I would recommend reading the first book before this which is exactly what I'm about to do. Do yourself a favour and grab your copy today!

Paige's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and excited when Jace was given his own book. While I liked Renegade, it didn't draw me in like Desperado Book 1.

Bronte is has finally broken free from her husband. With all that she endured she became a fighter and wasn't going to be a push over any longer. She took her daughters and moved back to Bliss, Utah.

While she acts brave and sure of herself I often found her to be naive and childish. Bronte also doesn't factor in a man like Jace to break her resolved.

Jake likes to pick up strays. After one meeting with Bronte he falls for her and her girls. I believe in love or lust at first site, I felt that their relationship was forced . I had a hard time with their insta love.

The storyline was a bit weak and became rather redundant for me. The author added more drama with a storyline that I didn't think added anything to the book. It was too much to late.

Renegade by Lisa Bingham
Cowboy/Rancher Romance
Spice: 2 of 10 Jalapeno
Story: 8/10

Renegade is a sweet story that leaves your heart melted. You instantly fall for Jace Taggart, who steps in to help displaced Bronte Cupacaek and her two kids, Lily and Kari, as they deal with a difficult separation and divorce.

The more you learn about Bronte’s past, the more you crave for her to find love again, to believe in herself and find some peace. She finally finds it once more at her grandmother’s old family house, which is next door to the Taggart Big House, a farmland with, if nothing else, horses. While Bronte has her own children, Jace is taking care of his younger brother, who has a TBI that causes him to have the mentality of a child, trapped in a 16 year old body. Jace happens to find Bronte as she arrives to find her grandmother gone, and her car dies right when she finds out that her grandmother is at the hospital nearby. He drives her and her kids to visit, then rallies people to help repair the house. During this whole time, Bronte and Jace are growing closer, enough so that you’re craving for them to finally give in to the sparks that you can feel on the pages.

Bronte’s ex does show up, and some dark revelations are made about Bronte’s youngest child, but it gives us a final few chapters where Jace and Bronte come together beautifully.

Renegade left me wanting more. It left me wanting to find out what happened after the last page. Do Jace and Bronte have their own children, building on to their blended family? Does she eventually start up a bakery or something on her own? I needed to know more. The romance was enough of a slow burn to make sense but heated up fast enough that I kept turning pages for more. It was a great read, and left me wanting the rest of the Taggart Brothers books from Lisa Bingham, which I have yet to find. (I’m going to be scouring thrift stores for them, let me tell you!)

My personal favorite kinds of romance books have a bit more heat than this book had. The spice was lukewarm at best for my tastes. However, that didn’t detract at all from the overall story and plot, which ended up overshadowing the spiciness in this book by leaps and bounds. I’d have killed for a hair more heat for my own spicy palate, but that’s just me.

Overall, the book was amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next Taggart Brother novels from this author! It left me craving more, and was a fantastic cowboy/rancher romance to read!

Renegade by Lisa Bingham is the 2nd book in her wonderful Taggart Brothers series. I enjoyed the first book in this series, and couldn’t wait for the next book. I am happy to say that Renegade is even better than the first book. I loved everything about Renegade from start to finish.

Renegade belongs to Jace Taggart, one of our hero Taggart Brothers, and newcomer Bronte Cupacek, our heroine. We learn early that Bronte is running away with her two young daughters to stay with her aunt in Bliss, Utah. When she arrives, she discovers her aunt has had an accident and is in the hospital. Jace comes to her rescue, and takes Bronte to see her aunt, and at the same time, makes arrangements to fix up the dilapidated house, so that Bronte can live there.

Jace is not only a hottie, but he was simply great. He found himself attracted to the beautiful Bronte, but could tell she was running away from something. We usually know that cases like this involve an abusive husband, in Bronte’s case, she was already divorced, but her ex-husband was still around to haunt her, so she ran. Bronte, despite her determination not to become involved with another man, immediately feels strong feelings for the hot and caring Jace. However, with two young girls that were resentful for moving so quickly, Bronte tried to curb her desires; which got difficult with each passing day.

What follows is a wonderful sweet story, with a great couple that had us rooting for them from the start. This wasn’t just a romance, but a very good story, as Bronte must resolve her issues, which also affect her daughters. I loved Jace, who was sweet, caring , romantic, with his own issues from the past revolving around his deceased father.

Lisa Bingham does such a wonderful job writing this wonderful story, that had us happy, smiling, worried, and even sad; but with each page we turned we kept on going to see how this would all end. Afterall, we had a vested interest in everyone from Jace, Bronte, Lily, Barry, Kari, P.D. I am loving this series, loving the characters and loving the writing of Lisa Bingham. If you enjoy a perfect romance and storyline, I suggest you read this series. Start with the first book. I for one, can’t wait for whatever Lisa Bingham will be giving us next.
