Simultaneously, I had pursued a theological interest in the Cathars, first through reading a number of books about the Knights Templar and Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code and later, an interest in Monségur and the Rennes-le-Château, near where the lost treasure of the Cathars is said to be hidden.Around the same time I was starting this work, my interest in the paranormal became focused around reincarnation and lycanthropy (werewolves and vampires). I have always loved old Hammer Horror films and particularly the work of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. I have also always been interested in luck, and the constant battle between good and evil, light and dark, and yin and yang; who isn't? My own luck seems to run in phases or waves; periods of days or even weeks of good luck, followed by periods of very bad luck. I mused that some people have luck so bad that it kills them, whereas others seem to lead a charmed life. I decided that my main character, as well as being physically imperfect, must have some kind of rare interaction with luck and the forces of good and evil. From there, I developed the idea that in fact both Satan and God might both have one hand on the tiller of luck.I knew the main character would be flawed physically and yet have strange psychic powers, but only when I wrote a scene in a graveyard, Highgate Cemetery, did I know that he would also become a Secret Agent and later an amateur sleuth.Yet another theme is Witchcraft. I have long been interested in the influence of Gurdjieff and Mdm. Blavatsky on modern western ideas. I also make frequent references to the Malleus Maleficarum, the witch-hunter's bible, and wicca, particularly Gardnerian wicca. You will also find references to some cult films such as Eye of the Devil.
Educated near Oxford, during English author Lazlo Ferran’s extraordinary life, he has been an aeronautical engineering student, dispatch rider, graphic designer, full-time busker, guitarist and singer, recording two albums. Having grown up in rural Buckinghamshire Lazlo says:
“The beautiful Chiltern Hills offered the ideal playground for a child’s mind, in contrast to the ultra-strict education system of Bucks.”
Brought up as a Buddhist, he has travelled widely, surviving a student uprising in Athens and living for a while in Cairo, just after Sadat’s assassination. Later, he spent some time in Central Asia and was only a few blocks away from gunfire during an attempt to storm the government buildings of Bishkek in 2006. He has a keen interest in theologies and philosophies of the Far East, Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe.
After a long and successful career within the science industry, Lazlo Ferran left to concentrate on writing, to continue exploring the landscapes of truth. - - - From lessons learned as a professional musician about personal privacy, I do not publish using my real name but with the pen name Lazlo Ferran. I have read a lot of books since the beginning of this year and can count on one had the ones that have been impossible to put down read in one sitting and now Vampire – Find My Grave had joined that list.
We have John Wilmot who is the second earl of Rochester and he is also a Vampire. He takes part in a ritual to find lost treasury. Guarding the treasure is Lilth she is a Succubus she sends 12 demon women to try and tape him as he go’s alone looking for the treasure.
I don’t want to give away the plot you will have to get the book and find the rest out for yourself. Vampire Find My Grave has five stars from me and would be happy to give it lot more.
While taking part in an occult ritual, vampire and womanizer John Wilmot agrees to journey into Hades to acquire a treasure held and guarded there by Lilith. Directed by a poem John ventures through a series of temptation tests and battles against creatures real and mythical as he seeks out Lilith and the treasure. Enduring the enchanting attention of twelve demon temptresses, John’s life, immortal as he may be, soon becomes impacted by his adventuring; after leaving the ritual and temptations behind, John pens an account of his adventure to leave in the care of a friend of his, providing only three clues, in the form of a poem, as to where his grave, and the remains of the treasure, is. Figuring out his clues could lead you to riches untold.
A story that uses a familiar type of creature character, a vampire, and explores a variety of other mythical creatures and supernatural entities through the lens of a quest driven by a poem, was an intriguing premise to build the narrative upon. Though this story takes place in an era where speech was more formal and used words that may be unfamiliar to contemporary readers, there were turns of phrase used throughout that came across as odd, even for those who are familiar with writings from the same time. There is some appreciable character development in John that demonstrates a bit of growth; however, the focus of the narrative is primarily on the physicality and eroticism of the situations that John finds himself in as he progresses through the various “rooms” of Hades, which while providing entertainment in its own right leaves the action, which includes battles (of a sort), and settings underdeveloped and feeling murky in their realization and presentation.
Great book have enjoyed the storyline, is something else. Very well written, with good details on the surroundings with lots of erotic, where John somehow can't say no to a pretty women lol He has agreed to find a treasure and need to be very intoxicated to find it in another dimension, better to be said in Hell, to withstand the succubus Lilith from her sexual allure, what will not be easy for John the vampire in his prime age I guess. As well he loves his wife and children dearly. The quest will bring him to his knees and maybe he will find his death, he will see things he never thought to see on this quest. Find out yourself, take a seat some nibbles and enjoy a great storyline!! Can't wait to read the next one!!
I enjoyed the book so much, I finished it in 3 days.
It has complex, well developed characters, is full of action, and has a very novel take on what Vampires and Werewolves can do. The Vampire is actually seeking redemption from an eon of (mostly carnal) debauchery. These two unassuming characters are drawn into the eternal battle between God and Lucifer with all his minions. Deceit, treachery, hand to hand fighting, harrowing escapes, the author first introduces the idea that nobody's Soul is safe, perhaps even Lucifer's. Very unpredictable outcomes.
This story is an off-shoot from his Ordo Lupus series. I enjoyed the series and this novella adds information that gives the OL books more depth.
