Hart Brothers #4

The Fall and Rise of Kade Hart

Rate this book
The is a Stand Alone novel with an unexpected twist. If you think you have the Hart Brothers figured out, this book will change everything. If you like your novels to have a smooth ride, do not read this!
This book contains sex and language and is not intended for younger readers.

"Hello, my name is Kade Hart and I’m a drug addict." Isn't that what recovering addicts are supposed to say? Hell if I know. I’m not sure about anything anymore. Not since I met her. Juliette. She's my game changer.

I’ve lived on the streets, been in places no one ever wants to see, survived pure hell with the bastard who raised me. I thought I'd finally managed to put all that behind me, come to terms with who and what I am. Until she walked into my life. She’s running from the people who slaughtered her family, people who want her dead, too, and she makes me want to be the kind of man who can protect her, who can save her. But I'm not sure I’m that guy. I'm no one's hero.

Or am I?

If she asks me why I love her, I wouldn’t be able to tell her a single reason. Because there isn’t one. There are dozens. All wrapped and merged together to create my special love for her. I’ve often heard the phrase, “She stole my heart.” Something can’t be stolen which is freely given and I have not only given her mine, I have laid it at her feet.

SUMMARY (50 words or less)
Although these books can be read as standalone, since I’ve read all of them, I’ve been waiting on Kade. Oh how I love a broken man. And he was the most broken of them all. Still, by the time we meet him, he’s a changed man.

I anticipated this book, after finishing the first 3 in this series, I was on the edge of my seat wanting Kade’s story. The youngest of the Hart Brothers, the addict who was saved in book two – the addict who is recovering but still not sure if he can survive outside of the comfort of his new life.

Juliette has been on the run for the last few years, after she discovers a gruesome scene she isn’t sure what is happening, but she knows she must run. Now with a false name and finding sanctuary within the walls of a church, all of her secrets are about to bubble to the surface as she allows Kade to get past the walls she’s built over the years.

Oh. Fuck. No. Okay so here is the thing... I don’t want to spoil this and typically I wouldn’t but this has been out for a while and as a reader who has an issue with this sort of thing, I think that it is something that shouldn’t really be tucked away and hidden in a story. Not all romance readers love all romance genres. Although the author gives you a choice in how you watch this story unfold, it is impossible to not see this whole story as a PNR read. You can’t explain away the “shadows” and growling creatures as possible Russian mobster. By placing these things into the story from the start, there was no way to escape that this was a PNR. I understand that this introduces readers to the Seven and the next series, I get that. And I am sure that those who love PNR are excited about that. But I read three books in a contemporary romance series, wanting to be emotionally destroyed by the story of the final brother – the set up was all there. And it was all ruined for me by the swift into a new genre.

This felt like a story told simply to start a new series and not one to bring a conclusion to a series that readers followed over the three prior books. It is very disappointing to get to this point and feel like the whole experience just dropped off at book three and that book four was nothing more than a way to trap readers into a future book.

Soooo disappointed with this one. I had high hopes for the wild child, Kade. I hated the Paradox thing, it ruined it for me.

Just when I thought I had the "twist" figured out, the author throws a curve ball. This was a great romantic suspense that had me hooked from the first chapter. You remember those old mystery books when you were a kid where you got to choose different endings? This was one of those books, but for grown ups. And both alternate "endings" worked. But for me, the too easy ending wasn't enough. I wanted more answers. And I still didn't get them all. Only more questions. But that's what a great author does. She leaves you with just a taste to tantalize you. Makes you hungry for the rest of the story. This one gets a recommendation from me!

Kade has become my favorite of the Hart Brothers. All of them suffered in different ways but there is something about Kade that just won my heart.
His character is honest and honorable and the moment he met Juliette, he knew he was done for. His need to protect her is something fierce. He also struggles with those feelings. He believes that his past has tainted him so much that he isn’t worthy of her. Brain vs Heart vs Past and let the battle begin.
Juliette is on the run after losing her family in the most horrific way, she does what she can to stay off the grid. Finding shelter in the most unlikely places, she does her best to adjust. The last thing she expected was for Kade to come into her life. The people after her are dangerous and she doesn’t want to put anyone else in danger.
Sabin. Oh his characters was so mysterious. He takes protection to a whole new level, it is almost personal. His character has me intrigued.
Kade and Juliette find their relationship to fast and furious in the best ways. Although she is protected and danger lurks everywhere, Kade does his best to protect her and just when you think you have things figured out, a twist in the story comes at you full force.
I LOVED the chemistry that Kade and Juliette have as well as the secondary characters. The story flowed easily. There was heart ache, fear, excitement, happiness, confusion and love.
This isn’t your typical love story. With the suspense aspect and the mysteries of the story will leave you questioning everything. Be prepared for a HOT and wild ride and an ending that you will never see coming, one that will leave you wanting more.
Ms. Hargrove continues to create these characters that leave us intrigued and we just can’t get enough of.

This contemporary romance snuck in a bit of the paranormal which, for the most part, would have been okay. Unfortunately, there was so much sap thrown around it was hard to read without rolling my eyes. The author used this book to lead into a new paranormal series which will soon be released. I'm hoping she backs off with the OTT hearts and flowers with her new series because what she has set up here for the future series sounds promising. I just hope we don't have to meet up with (gag) Kade and Juliette in the next series.

Let me start by saying I respect an author who is willing to take risks.
Sometimes those risks just don't work out.

I wasn't a fan of the rest of the series, but since I had already bought all of them I decided to push through. With the rest of the series being a contemporary romance that was what I was expect from this one too. Which was a huge mistake.

From the very beginning things were different. For a good majority of the book I thought Juliette was certifiably insane. I was completely confused with what was going on with her. So I decided to back track, reread the synopsis and a few reviews an realized this author was trying to turn the very last book in the series into some kind of paranormal romance. Don't get me wrong I love paranormal romance, and had this been a complete standalone in a different book universe from the other books I might have been more into it. But as it was it just made no sense.

I read a review that said this book was more of a set up for a spin off paranormal book than anything else, and I completely agree. I was looking forward to Kade's story, I thought it had a lot more potential than even his brothers so I was so disappointed that this book revolved more around Juliette than Kade. I mean his name is in the title, you'd think he'd have more character devolvement than what he got.

Honestly I was just too confused to stop reading. I had to know what the heck was going on. Was Juliette seeing things? Was she on a really bad acid trip? Was she a figment of Kade's imagination altogether? In the end the only explanation that you get is that these shadows are real and there to protect her. That's it.

I think the thing I hated the most was the choice of endings. You made the decision to fuck up your book, you damn well stand by it. I tried to just read the contemporary ending, I was over it all and just wanted it to end. And honestly it was the most anti climatic ending ever. So I moved onto the paranormal, sci-fi, whatever ending and that just left me more frustrated. I felt like I had even less closure with all of the couples after reading it. It could of at least gone to resolve everything rather than just hinting at how it would end.

I'm over this series. And it's honestly ruined me for all books by A.M. Hargrove.
Sorry, rant over.

What a mess

My feelings are as mixed up as this writing style. I understand the intention to think outside the box and try something new, but I am not sure I would have chosen to do that in an existing contemporary romance series. I’m aware that the Sci Fi genre is new to A.M. Hargrove, so I’m trying to keep that in mind, but I felt like this book was kind of a mess. The first half of the book had me completely enthralled and craving more. My brain was working over time for explanations. The entire second half felt like a different book. There were way too many questions left unanswered and the ending felt quite abrupt and unplanned. I read a lot of romance, but have always preferred sci fi, paranormal and post apocalyptic over anything else, so this should have been a good fit for me. Instead I kind of feel a little bit let down. Kade’s book started off so strong, he deserves as much thought, care and attention as his brothers received, if not more. Even the supposed “HEA” end point and epilogue for those boring people who wanted to skip the weird stuff, it was still abrupt and had glaring holes. Kade’s always getting the short end of the deal and he deserves better! Regardless of the absolute fiasco of this writing style and the plot holes, I still loved Juliet for him. My heart and brain both wanted more family building to conclude the stories of the Hart brothers and their amazing wives. Perhaps all spending time together in their newly built vacation home on Carter’s family’s island plot as they planned. Now I feel let down and my mind is working on overdrive trying to create the image for itself.

This is the fourth book of the Hart Brothers Series. I have to be honest, this is my least favorite book of the series. The first three books were contemporary romances and this one changed genres and went more towards a paranormal romance. While it gives you the “option” at the end to go contemporary vs paranormal, it has a true paranormal feel the whole way through and feels very different from the previous books in the series.

This book by itself was a good introduction to the book Sabin but it was disappointing when you looked at it as the final book of a series.

Kade is the youngest Hart Brother and is also the one that was most messed up by his father. After a long history of drug abuse, Kade is now sober and trying to move on from his past. Juliette is running from the people that killer her family and is deep within hiding. When Kade & Juliette meet, they both realize that it’s time to trust someone else for the first time in many years. Little do they both know, but they’ll soon be trusting others as well.

Disappointing

After reading and thoroughly enjoying Kolson and Kestrel's stories, I was really looking forward to reading "The Fall and Rise of Kade Hart". I enjoyed the first few chapters, but as the story progressed, I became more and more disappointed. I felt that the characters became secondary to the storyline. The characters of Kade and Juliette lacked the depth of Kolson and Gabby or Kestrel and Carter from the previous books. I didn't feel as invested in them. This is a great shame because the story of Kade's horrific childhood, his battle with addiction and his road to recovery, plus Juliette's tragic past, should have been every bit as powerful and enthralling as the previous books, if not more so. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The chemistry just wasn't there. The last chapter felt a bit rushed too. The twist in the story wasn't really a great surprise as there had been plenty of hints throughout the book.

Loved the first three books. Only read first book in Kade’s story. So disappointing. I love a good sci-fi/ or paranormal series, when I start reading one, NOT dumped into the series mid way through. I’m glad the author at least gave us the choice of a “pick your own ending”...but unfortunately the “seven” characters were already in play at the beginning of the book. 😑

Fantasy

I read this book because I read the other Hart brothers stories , so I was.looking forward to this book as well. This one goes a little off kilt from the other stories and I have an inkling about the seven so I suppose I'll ha e to read the other books to see if I'm right about this fantasy storyline.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. You do not need to read the other Hart books to understand this book, but the other books are great reads.

I really connected with this book and its characters more though. Both main characters have gone through extremely painful situations. The book opens with a breath stealing incident that hooks you in and won’t let you go. This is how we are introduced to Jules. My heart went out to her. I don’t know what I would have done in her situation. I liked her character and strength that she exuded, despite her fragility. Kade was introduced briefly in the other books and I truly enjoyed learning more about him. He is my favorite of the Hart brothers. Maybe it is because of his transparency, his willingness to help others, or his fight to stay clean. The struggles of the characters were too much at times (especially some of the dreams/flashbacks which give insight to the past). I found my heart pounding with anticipation and I yelled out a few times too. There is no lack of STEAM in this story either. The Harts don’t lack in this area.

This book kept me guessing, especially when it came to The Seven! You are given just enough info to string you along like a hungry puppy. I rather liked the option to choose the ending (that was a nice touch, by the way, though I read both). As much as I want to go into details, I don’t want to spoil anything. You will not be disappointed with this story. Hargrove continues to deliver great stories and fresh new ideas and has easily become one of my favorite authors. She does not disappoint. She has an amazing gift of creating new worlds and then through words, transporting you, the reader, into that world (and giving you a front row seat to watch it all go down)! My favorite series has been Guardians of Vesturon (and its spinoff series Dark Waltz), but I can’t wait for this new spinoff series! It may very well become my new fav.

I have to say out all the books in the Hart Brother’s series this story is my favorite. This book is the story Juliette and Kade and how they battle past their demons and brave the unknown to let someone into their heart, to let someone know their secrets and see their scars and love them for exactly who they are. There is a bit of mysterious and an edge that keeps your pulse racing as they both try to figure out the unexplainable. Let me just stop here and say that Kade is just freakin HOT! It isn’t just that he has risen above his circumstances but he can play musical instruments and the passion he displays when he is playing piano for Juliette just makes you want to crawl into his lap and never leave. I honestly wanted to do just that because Kade has such a release of passion when he lets himself go into the music that I found just sexy. I won’t spoil it for you but trust me Juliette did too and if I have you curious then good. You need to get your copy of this like NOW. Again I won’t give you in spoilers but the end will blow your mind because it will be a twist you won’t see coming at least I didn’t but then I might have been a smidge *pinches together two fingers* bit distracted by the sizzling Kade Hart. Seriously you will find suspense, sexy adventure and the courage to overcome and not let yourself be defined by your past or circumstances. Combine that with a smoking hot man and you have one amazing read that will definitely give you the best book hangover EVER!

Well, the Hart Brothers books end. Boo! I'm still sad I didn't read the first two books about Kolston's life, but like I said in the Kestrel book review...you get all of his story recapped. So I find it pointless.

Soooo, first off this book was a great read! Very different than Kestrel and I'm assuming Kolston's stories. Kade is less Alpha than his brothers, but I did not take that as weakness. He's every bit a protector and sexy beast with a dirty mouth. Juliette was a great h! She goes through an unbelievable tragedy in the very beginning of this book, and goes from shy and scared of her own shadow (literally.. Wink wink) to becoming a fully grown up, opinionated, kick ass woman!! Sexy times we're awesome! They both have a somewhat inexperienced sexual past and when the first few sexy encounters they have are sort of fumbled and all over the place, I found endearing!! Not EVERYONE is a professional sex machine straight out the door, but most authors seem to have that idea... Whatever....

So the last part of the book is like..no, not like.. IS a "Pick Your Adventure". Remember those from elementary school? Anywho- the author left a pretty adamant note not to divulge any info. Overall, the book was a solid 4.5 star book. The last 15% of the book is where it gets a little WTF, but I liked it! Overall I really enjoyed this book. There is going to be a spin off coming off the heels of this last book and I will be looking forward to reading more of AM Hargrove in the future!!
Cheers :)

Wow I love this series and I know they are stand alone books but you have to read the Hart Brothers 1,2,3 to get how each one of the brothers are the way they are. Kade a recovering drug addict falls for Jules. But Jules is running for her life and enters a convent to be come a nun. Kade feels the chemistry and know Jules is hiding something but can't believe he is falling for a nun. But when you read this book it's amazing I loved it.

Amazing read! Ms. Hargrove had taken this love story to another level of excellence. Kade & Juliette's characters were magically made for each other. Two lost souls were brought together from the darkness and at the end they both found the light they were seeking for peace & love.

The author has the uncanny abilities to make this story close to everyone's home meaning that she brought the main characters of this book to real life experiences. Drug addiction, losing self worth, losing an identity, losing faith, & losing an entire family is something each one of us in the real world could probably can relate in some form. Each chapter of the book brought all the characters to life and the book is full of action packed, sizzling with sweet & hot love scenes , and witty humorous banters between the characters which kept it more fascinating for readers like me.

This story has profound effect on me as reader because in my line of work I see drug addiction, homelessness, and death and understand life's circumstances can be unfair sometimes. I applaud Ms. Hargrove's excellent work and will continue to follow her wonderful work.

This book was so good!!!! I loved how the ending was! That was such a great idea and I am excited to see how other readers love the end!!!

I have to say out of all my Hart boys Kade had it the worst. Don't get me wrong they all suffered extremely, but Kade was the youngest and Langston got worse with each kid. My heart broke for Kade in several places and I wanted to go in and save him. I was happy when he found Juliette. He needed someone that could be there for him and believe in him. But can he handle all the feelings she brings out in him? Can he handle all her baggage?

Juliette is running from the unknown. She has no idea what happened to her family and why someone's after her. All she knows is her days are numbered. She won't be around much longer. She is trying to stay away from Kade because she doesn't want to bring harm to him. She knows she can't get involved, but the pull they have to each other is hard to fight. Can they make it work? Or will they walk away before they give it a go?

This is another amazing book by Am Hargrove!! I love the Hart brothers and I cannot wait to read Sabin's book!!!!!

What a great book! I was enamored from the start to finish and especially with everything in between. As you read this unique story, there is a paranormal/supernatural vibe that made itself known periodically. It makes you question what you read. Did I read that right? But I thought this was a Contemporary Romance? Just you wait! All these questions will eventually be answered. And I hope you enjoy how they get answered as much as I did.

I just adored Kade and Juliette. Both are great, strong characters when alone. But when together they become so much more and you find yourself falling more and more for them. I enjoyed their story and wouldn't mind seeing more from them in the future.

THE FALL AND RISE OF KADE HART was a definite page turner from the start. It grabs you and captivates you with its mystery as well as the romance. This book can be read as a standalone, but it probably wouldn't hurt to read the others before it. I have missed the 2 stories after the first and I feel as I am missing out on some really good reads.

A.M. Hargrove has really outdone herself this time.
She threw me for a loop with this one and just wow!!!
I was eagerly awaiting Kade's book because he is the one brother we haven't had a lot of exposure to. He also had such a hard life. Made so many bad choices. So, I was excited to see where he has come and what his future held for him.
But then in comes this huge twist with Juliette. The beginning of this book completely captures you and then as each chapter goes on you are pulled in with enchantment.
There is a huge secret at the end of this book that will totally spoil anything I say.
But, A.M. Hargrove has given us the best of both worlds here and I loved the mix that she brought.
Totally suspenseful tale that has you on the edge of your seat with curiosity as to where in the world is this story taking me...
Absolutely recommend that you read it and find out the huge surprise I was mentioning...
I think you will love it too!!

Kade and Juliette … well, their story is quite an extraordinary story!
Unusual, thrilling, profound, heart-warming and at times scaring and depressing.
Both characters survived a horrific past. How? I can’t even begin to process how they did it, and this past is reflected in their personalities and behavior.
One can’t avoid falling for them … they are just too adorable in their worshiping and caring for each other.
The plot is twisted and full of mysteries. Sometimes I wasn’t sure whether I read or slept and dreamed …

Anyhow, this is another must read by Ms. Hargrove you don’t want to miss!

This was a good book...I loved all the books in the series. There is a twist because there is 2 endings. If you want more answers read the 2nd ending. If not and you don't like twists and turns and unexpected things don't read it. Totally up to the reader. Me however I had to read it.

So I give the book 4 stars. It was good but I wasn't sure about a couple of things...I hope when A.M.'s next series comes out I will understand about the things I didn't get at the end of this one.

No spoilers from me you want to know the 2nd ending...READ THE BOOK.

I have been reading AM Hargrove's books for a while now and none of them disappoint! They all are different but they all leave you on the edge of your seat to find out what is going to happen next...plus the hot romance is a wonderful plus....
This book was so different than the other three before it - I loved the idea of the "shadows"...I did not know what to think at first!
I am so glad that Kade found true love with all that he has been through.....I can't wait for the next book "Sabin" to come out!
