A quick feel good story about Family & Love

Full review Here..

Kenzy moved back to her hometown, leaving behind everything she thought she wanted after finding out it was all a lie. She was a bit gadded due to circumstances but never let that overshadow the person she was loving, caring and nurturing. Kenzy had a job she loved although tough at times and a great friend to lean on with Jessika.

"It is over. Deuces. Peace out. I fold. I tap out. My white flag is waving. Moving on. Hello, giant moving trunk in the driveway! Buy a clue, mister!"

Maverick was a quick read but it packs a powerful punch. Chelsea Camaron wrote a wonderfully romantic love story that also bringing light to the disease of Diabetes.

Kenzy Davis is an ICU nurse who is now back home after breaking up with her cheating finance.

“I feel like a sad love song. He has had the best of me, and now he doesn’t want the rest of me.

Maverick Collins, aka “Tapper” works on an oil rig and sleeps around, a lot. Being in a relationship isn’t something he is actively seeking.

“When the right woman comes along, she’ll knock me on my ass, and I’ll know it.”

When Kenzy runs into her old high school crush Maverick, they don’t get off to the best start but the attraction is definitely there. When Kenzy is assigned to care for Mavericks father who is hospitalized after having a leg amputated as a result of his diabetes the relationship with Maverick starts to bloom into more.

I really did enjoy this story. I could relate very easily to Kenzy as an RN myself. I see a huge number of diabetic patients each day and while I sadly don’t run into too many men like Maverick the struggles that Chelsea wrote about in book are true to life. I can only hope that her story will bring some education to her readers while also entertaining them at the same time.

This is the first novella in the Roughneck series about the men who work the rigs. First up is Maverick aka Tapper.

Maverick is known for his ‘tap it and leave it’ mentality with the ladies of the town, hence his nickname, Tapper.

Kenzy has always had a thing for Maverick but he never noticed her. Now she has returned to her home town after leaving her cheating ex. She doesn’t need no complications with men so she stays well away from Maverick. She is working as a nurse at the local hospital and when she sees one of her new patients is Maverick’s dad, this brings her in contact with him again and she sees a different side to his womanising persona.

This was a quick read and covered the harsh realities of diabetes, in fact it went into great detail about the disease that took over much of the storyline. I would have liked to have seen more romance between Kenzy and Maverick but there wasn’t much build up and it felt overly rushed. In fact they didn’t get together romantically until the last 20% of the book.

However I did enjoy the read even though I was expecting something a little more hardcore with down and dirty sexy riggers with lots of erotic steaminess. Therefore this was a three star read for me.

5 STARS!!!
Let me start off my giving my one negative before I jump in to how seriously awesome this story was… It was super short. Now, this is my ONLY negative, and bear in mind it's because I am selfish and didn't want the story to end because I fell in love with the characters so much in such a short time.

Now, with that being said, there was not one thing about the actual story itself that I did not like. It has such incredibly strong characters that were just down to earth and easy to relate to. The writing was very well done, and the author did a great job in conveying the characters emotions so that you felt for them. Where it was not a bawl your eyes out sad book, there were a handful of times that I found my eyes tearing up. There were a couple scenes that had me giggle (for example… the first time Maverick ran into (literarily) Kenzy afar she moved back to her hometown), and one particular scene that got me all hot and bothered. I may or may not have soaked through a pair of my undies, and then messaged the author to tell her that there should be a disclaimer with this book warning you that you may ruin your undies LOL.

Kenzy decides to move back to her hometown after finally having enough of her boyfriend of five years being a total asshat. As if his inability to keep it in his pants wasn't bad enough, he also knocked up two of her co-workers! Once home, she begins to realize everything she thought she had with her ex had been a lie, and you see her grow and move on. Despite the crap she went through, she is still one of the sweetest and most caring women.
A night out with her best friend leads Kenzy into the arms of Maverick "Tapper"… her old high school crush. With a reputation of being a bit of a cocky womanizer, he's the exact opposite of what Kenzy should be drawn to. After their encounter on the dance floor, she steers clear of Maverick, knowing he is nothing but trouble and she is not about to be another name on his long list of conquests.
One day while at work at the hospital, Kenzy meets her new patient Richard who just had his leg amputated due to diabetes, who ends up being none other than Mavericks father! As Kenzy begins to form a bond with Richard, her and Maverick also begin to form one. The way she cares for Maverick's father beyond her work duties is just heartwarming. Through all his horrible struggles Kenzy is there by his side to help him get through it.

This story was touching, heartbreaking, heartwarming and just so "real". You can tell that the story is something the author holds close to her heart, and she really poured herself into it.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! I can only hope that we will down the line get more Kenzy and Maverick because their story is one of the sweetest yet.

Romance: contemporary, trilogy, quick read

** Provided by publisher/author in exchange for an HONEST review. **

-- MY THOUGHTS --
Novella-length. Alternating, clearly-defined, first person POV - extremely easy to follow along.
I feel the cover is not as attention-grabbing as it could be, but it does have it's appeal. The synopsis reads a bit "fluffier" that I felt the story was. There was depth of emotion and hardships, some heavy topics to work around in there that are not indicated in the blurb.
Mackenzy leaves her boyfriend of five or so years, with whom she shares homeownership with, after several co-workers become pregnant by him and returns to her hometown where she becomes an intensive care nurse at the hospital.
Maverick is a roughneck, working in the Permian Basin. He lost his mom to cancer a few years back and a part of his dad went with her. When he gets the call at work that his father's been taken to the hospital because of severe complications from his diabetes, he panics. But his father lands in Mackenzie's care.
* be prepared for some raw emotions here to emerge from this sexy roughneck*
The characters are well-written. Kenzy is smart and independent. She's not one to rush into things because she likes what she sees - and she's nurturing and patient. Maverick, or "Tapper" as his friend have nicknamed him, is cocky and had a bit of a man-whore reputation until Mackenzy moved back to town. But he's also reliable, dependable, and honest. The secondary characters add dimension to the plot with supportive, fun roles that create beneficial purposes. The interaction and dialogue occur naturally and is believable. The plot is not very full, mostly due to the story length, but it has enough dynamics to hold strong. There are only a few minor conflicts throughout that are handled in a timely and mature manner. The plot was pretty straight forward, not leaving a lot of room for surprises or predictability. The conclusion is wrapped up neatly with no cliffhangers.
This was an enjoyable opening to the Roughnecks trilogy and look forward to Heath and Lance's books. I hope Jessika finds her match... maybe in Heath? Hmm... we'll see!

Kenzy is trying to find her inner strength and find her true self after getting out of an emotionally taxing relationship. Picking up and moving back home, she sets out to figure out what she really wants. Being an ICU nurse, she knows that life can change in a matter of moments so she doesn't want to waste anymore time.

Maverick works on an oil rig and is nicknamed "Tapper" by all those around him. He works hard and gets dirty and plays even harder. As Maverick learns how to maneuver all the things in his life to accommodate his father's situation with diabetes, he realizes that Kenzy has worked her way into not only his dad's heart, but also his heart. Kenzy tends to shy away from him and he knows that she is dealing with something personal. How does Maverick make Kenzy see that they could have a future together? I received this book from the author.

I love me some Chelsea. She is awesomeness to the 100th degree. So when we were told we were sponsoring her for an author event, I jumped in head first and finished reading all of her books. I have read her MC books and loved them. But I gotta admit that Maverick stole my heart. Who doesnt love a reformed bad boy? I mean come on...his nick name is TAPPER for all the ladies he tapped!!

Maverick is taking care of his diabetic father after his mother passed away from cancer. He is an only child so he feels the pressure of everything. Kenzy is a cute and sweey girl he remembers from high school. He runs into her at the store and thinks "YUM" and then again at a bar he is about to "tap' that when she shuts him down for the night!! Maverick is like DANG but fate will not let them seperate. Kenzy ends up taking care of his father in the hospital. The pair form a father-daughter like relationship and Maverick's heart is stolen a little more each time he sees her with his father.

I love assertive Maverick and the fact his dad helps him get the girl. The end of the book is a note from Chelsea about the inspiration for the story and it brought a tear to my eye.......

***ARC provided in exchange for honest review***

Kenzy returns to her hometown after a disastrous ending of a relationship and to pick up the pieces of her life. Maverick is a love'em and leave'em type of guy until he spots Kenzy and she's not the same awkward shy girl that he remembers from high school. Sparks fly whenever these two are in a room and the temptation is there but Kenzy never believes that she could be the type of girl that Maverick (Tapper) could be with and not another notch on his bed post. Maverick is hit with some devastating news that makes him reevaluate his life and see that what he need is right in front of his face. Their slow burning romance left me smitten and content. Fantastic writing, unique and romantic storyline, and an emotional pull that kept me hooked from page one. It’s a strong, fast-paced read with an incredible emotional pull. You will not be disappointed once you're done with the book, just anxiously anticipating the next one.

This is Book 1 in the Roughnecks Stories. The story starts with Kenzy leaving her boyfriend. They’ve been together for 5 years but he’s cheated on her all during this time. She moves out and heads back to her hometown. There she meets up with Maverick, otherwise known as Tapper. They went to school together where he was the popular guy and she was a nerd. Things have changed now and the interest is high. Maverick’s dad has diabetes and they have had to remove part of his leg. Kenzy is the nurse in charge of his care and things begin to heat up between the two as they help his father learn to get around. Maverick has to show Kenzy that he is more than just a love them and leave them type of guy. He knows what love and commitment means but she’s not ready to trust yet. This was such a good book. The time and caring that he puts into getting her to trust him was awesome. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

An ICU nurse takes a personal interest in a patient's recovery changing both of their lives forever.
I first read this novella when it was published in an anthology last year and it was such a sweet and down to earth story, with some very heart-tugging and tender moments.
A woman meets the man of her dreams in an unlikely place and through a life changing experience for both of them, finds the family and love she is missing in her life.
Maverick is a beautiful romance with some serious real-life situation elements that is typical with this author's very loving, family centered books.
If you loved Chelsea Camaron's Love and Repair series, you will love this sentimental and emotional short as well!

Oh, how I love Chelsea Camaron. Maverick was the perfect short, hot, and sweet story for me. I feel that short stories can be tricky. It is hard to give enough detail to pull the reader in, without giving too much detail and make the book long. Chelsea camaron did it exactly right with this one.
I was pulled in and made to care for the Kenzy and Maverick. I was invested in them finding happy ever after. I was hoping and praying that it would be with each other.

Kenzy was truly a life saver. She took it upon herself to give extra care to maverick's dad when she didn't have to. She gave advice and support to maverick when he didn't have any where else to turn to.

I am so excited for this series. I cannot wait for more.

I was pulled right into this short story. The story has laughs, betrayal, pain, and heartbreak.

This is Kenzy and Maverick’s story. Kenzy is now back home after a breakup. Maverick wants Kenzy as soon as he sees her but she is not interested in his type of man. Kenzy is attracted but knows how Maverick is to the ladies in the town. After his dad gets sick they are around each other day after day and finally get to know each other better. Can Maverick get her to change her mind about him? Can he get her to believe in him?

I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I just needed more of the story. I wish the story was longer.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

McKenzie doesn't take any bs from anyone, "presumptuous much?” she asks with fierce anger in her body language. “I’m not taking you home, and I’m certainly not going home with you. So, Tapper,” she draws out my nickname for emphasis, “you can move on, because you won’t be tappin’ this." Maverick is only patient for so long before he takes action, "You may not be looking , but it’s here. And, baby, it’s happening.” When I open my mouth to respond, his lips come crashing down on mine." I liked this book and I can't wait for Maverick's friends to get knocked on their butts with women they fall for.

I liked this book. It was short, to the point, emotional and had a super sweet ending.

This is Kenzy and Maverick's story. This was a sweet and sexy second chance romance. Kenzy always wanted Maverick but she was invisible to him. Now as they spend time together he wants to know her and be more for her. Kenzy isn't sure but her resistance is slipping.

I liked Maverick and Kenzy both. Kenzy had her own hang ups about men and well Maverick made no excuses about his behavior. But I could tell with her, he was genuine.

I highly recommend this book.

Perfect

I needed a short story to read and you can't go wrong with anything from Chelsea Camaron. Her stories are as real and sometimes heartbreaking as you would ever want to read.
Kenzy Davis is going back home after five years and a cheating boyfriend. While a work at the local hospital, she realizes the patient in ICU is Maverick's father. She helps out and in the meantime she gets closer to both Maverick and his dad. Can Maverick change his ways with women? Will Kenzy let him knock down her walls and find true love? Another great story from Chelsea Camaron and I can't wait to read the next one.

Kenzy is a nurse, predominantly working in ICU, she loves her job and who she's become after finding her boyfriend cheating on her. She left him & moved back home!!

Kenzy starts taking care of Richard Collins who has part 2 diabetes. I love Richard!! He reminds me of my own dad in some ways!! He's her childhoods crush dad!

Maverick, an oil rig worker, tough guy, aka Tapper, takes it pretty hard when he learns his dad is in the hospital and had surgery!! He slows down to help his dad and also seeing Kenzy for who she really is....

Can Maverick & Kenzy let their pasts go to possibly fall in love?
Will pops get his diabetes under control?

A heart-warming story about life changing events and the choices we face when dealing with the aftermath. I loved the exposure Chelsea Camaron offers us to the life a someone with diabetes and the issues that could possibly follow as a result of this controlling disease. The day-to-day struggle of life is multiplied when your world is turned upside down. The emotions that are felt shine through in this tale. If you love a man who's not afraid to get dirty and a woman who's compassion knows no bounds then this books for you.

Start of a good series

Maverick is a hard worker and town stud. He has bedded almost all the women in town and sets his sights on a blast from the past. Kenzy leaves a cheating relationship to start over in her old home town. She sees Maverick a crush she had when she was younger. Their meeting is by chance but soon changes.

This story was okay. The main characters were okay but there was nothing about Kenzy and Maverick's story that I fell in love with. It was a little hard to believe in their love. I just didn't feel it between them. There was a little bit of drama, some chemistry between the characters, some meanness from Maverick's dad and then love. I wanted to love to love this story but I didn't. It was just missing something for me. I have Lance, Heath, Wendol and Reese's story but I'm unsure if I want to read them because I didn't love this one. This author books just might not be for me.
