IN PERPETUITY WE LIVE! IN PERPETUITY WE FIGHT! IN PERPETUITY WE DIE!! For two thousand years, Earth and her many colonies across the galaxy have fought against the Estelian menace. Having faced overwhelming losses, the CSC has instituted the largest military draft ever, conscripting millions into the battle against the aliens. Major Bartram North, Chief Training Officer on the CSC Training Station Perpetuity, has been tasked with the unenviable task of coordinating the military education of hundreds of thousands of recruits and turning them into troops ready to fight and die for the cause. As Major North struggles to maintain a training pace that the CSC insists upon, he realizes something isn't right on the Perpetuity. But before he can investigate, the station dissolves into madness brought on by the physical booster known as pharma. Unfortunately for Major North, that is not the only nightmare he faces- an armada of Estelian warships is on the edge of the solar system and headed right for Earth! Major North has one chance to find out the truth, rescue the Perpetuity from its madness, and defend the Earth from attack, or all of humanity could be lost forever! * In Perpetuity contains strong language

In Perpetuity By: Jake Bible Narrated by: Michael T. Bradley I love Bible's work and have chalked up many but this is not one of my favorites. It reminded me of a soldier zombie book. The evil characters tried too hard to be evil. There was a nice twist at the end but I kinda knew that was coming. If you're looking for one of his good ones try Flipside! It's sci-fi also! The narration was fairly well performed.
Shocking and graphic, this is also full of political intrigue. Groups of brilliant characters whose stories intertwine as they fight a strange enemy as well as their own people, culminating in a shattering revelation. As always I loved this Jake Bible fiction and read it in one sitting.
Silly, Fun, Violent and Obscenity-Laced, Quick SciFi Read
"In Perpetuity," is a silly, harmless, quick reading, conspiracy-themed, SciFi action oriented, space opera, authored by Mr. Jake Bible.
The story (more a expanded novella, rather than a full book), takes place a couple millennia future, in Earth's Solar System. Humanity has been warring against a nebulous alien race, who have the capability of replicating humans, for centuries. The war has mainly taken place throughout the Galaxy, centering on human colonies. Now the aliens have entered a new phase, bringing combat to the Sol System. A huge, training station, becomes the focal point of both Earth's defense, and the unmasking of the conspiracy. Thousands of recruits are deranged by tainted "pharma," becoming "hopped-up," homicidal, psychopaths, destroying each other, and any they perceive as alien fifth columnists. The station's XO, Major North, stumbles onto the conspiracy, and with few allies, fights to overcome the onslaught.
It's all pretty silly, but does move fast. The author's use of profanity, especially in the opening narrative can be heavy-handed, and off putting to those with "sensitive" sensibilities. The first chapter, which has a foul-mouthed drill sergeant, berating his recruits, was comical and satirical, pushing the stereotype of "boot camp," to laugh inducing levels. After that, obscenities occur on a less "frequent" basis. The story is in the main, a lighthearted, fast paced, action oriented romp-no great depth.
"In Perpetuity," is recommended and was fully read via Kindle Unlimited.
In Perpetuity opens slow, which is very unusual for a Jake Bible book. He introduces us to the characters a chapter at a time, builds the location, how the political and military systems work, and gives us a feel for things. Language is harsh, tempers flare, but - for the most part - it feels like a typical recruitment and boot camp sci-fi on a space station. Things are boiling, sure - like a frog in a pot. You can see the cracks in the society.
Things continue to build. Nothing really amazing. Nothing to put you on edge.
Then BAM.
That is the Jake Bible I know and love.
The wait was worth it.
Language, gross body parts, sex, blowing lots of stuff up.
Fantastic read, great twists and turns, never saw that ending coming but really enjoyed it. Yes there was swearing (picked up some excellent insults)but your dealing with Army recruits and war, they aren't going to be trained by Mary Poppins! As always Mr Bible excels in his characterization, so that his hero's/heroines become people you respect, North in particular, honourable and moral a great central character, great relationships between Link and Wendt, and Valencio and London, capturing perfectly how friends can bounce off each other. Thoroughly enjoyed!
