4.5 stars!

Anything that Jessica writes is guaranteed to grab my attention! I've read all her books, but when it comes to series, I have to admit I struggle with commitment! Just imagine walking down the street, catching a glimpse of someone who looks exactly like you, all the while unaware that there could be two of you out there!

Poppy rushes to pick up her baby daughter from nursery, only to discover that her daughter was collected hours earlier—by a woman who resembles her. This shocking twist triggers a nightmare scenario for the mother, who realizes her baby has been abducted, setting off a thrilling and suspenseful journey...

The story unfolds from the dual perspectives of Poppy and Layla, who are completely unaware of each other until their lives begin to intersect. Poppy grows up in a loving, relatively stable environment, while Layla experiences the exact opposite. Poppy comes off as a bit snobbish and demanding, while Layla carries the weight of a more complicated upbringing. In many ways, they reflect their respective environments. As we delve deeper into each character, it’s easy to jump to conclusions about them, but remember that sometimes bad behavior is just a cry for help. While this may seem like the worst-case scenario, this story actually has more heart than you might expect from Jessica, and I’m here for it!

Jessica's writing always keeps me on the edge of my seat, packed with suspense and unexpected twists, though this particular story is a bit lighter than her usual fare. The ending was exactly what I was curious about after learning some key details. I found myself stopping the wild guessing because, at that point, I was already invested and eager to know how it all wrapped up. Deep down, I was holding out hope for a happy ending! Did I get my wish? You'll have to read it to find out!

This book is perfect for anyone who enjoys a fast-paced, puzzle-filled read about a mother’s choices that ripple through her children's lives and even affect her grandchild. It tackles themes of generational trauma, revealing that nothing is as it first appears, and offers some unexpected turns that might just warm your heart. If you enjoy tropes like “touch my child and die” or encountering an identical stranger with a twist, this one’s for you! As I mentioned, it's a bit different from Jessica's previous work, but I loved it just as much! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to check my birth data to make sure there aren’t two of me roaming around! Ha!

Thank you, Booksprout, for the DRC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A Mother’s Double

Poppy arrives at nursery to collect her daughter, only to discover someone already picked her up hours ago.

The CCTV footage shows a woman who looks exactly like her.

But it wasn’t her.

As panic sets in and secrets begin to surface, Poppy realises this nightmare is far more personal than she ever imagined.

Jessica did it again!! This was a fast-paced, unputdownable psychological thriller. It’s such an easy read, with short chapters that constantly keep you engaged and wanting “just one more chapter.”

The story is told through multiple POVs, Poppy and Layla, which worked really well for this type of story.

Poppy has quite a difficult personality—one many readers will probably find unlikeable. I personally think she’s often misunderstood, and she most definitely has trust issues. Despite that, I connected with her and was fully invested in finding out how everything was going to unfold.

Layla was also a fascinating character. I felt for her, even during the moments where she seemed completely unhinged. Both women had strong character development, and the supporting cast added even more tension and layers to the story.

Jessica’s writing is once again effortless, uncomplicated, and such a joy to read. Her books are incredibly bingeable.

I also really enjoy the kidnapped-child trope, so this plot immediately intrigued me. And I love stories involving twins. If you’ve read a few Jessica Huntley books before, you’ll know she likes incorporating twins into her stories—which makes sense, considering she’s a twin herself.

Now, Joffe Books… let’s talk about the title. When it was first announced, I honestly didn’t love it. It has grown on me since, but I still feel a little more creativity wouldn’t have hurt. The title needs to pull readers in because more people really need to discover Jessica’s books.

That said, at this point you could literally publish “Untitled by Jessica Huntley” and I’d still read it.

Thank you to Booksprout, Joffe Books, and Jessica Huntley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

She Stole My Baby releases July 30, 2026.

And lastly—today is Jessica’s birthday. Happy Birthday!! 🥳

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Jessica Huntley is officially one of those authors I'll always read, no questions asked!! Her soon to be released, She Stole My Baby, completely lived up to my expectations and had me glued to the pages from start to finish.

The premise is every parent's worst nightmare, and Huntley wastes no time throwing you into the panic. From the moment Poppy arrives at her daughter's nursery to discover her daughter has already been picked up by someone who looks exactly like her, I was completely invested. The tension never lets up, and those short, fast paced chapters made it impossible to stop reading.

The story is told through alternating POVs, Poppy and Layla, and I loved how each perspective slowly peeled back another layer of the mystery. Neither Poppy nor Layla is a perfect character, but that's exactly what made them feel real. They're flawed, emotional, and driven by grief, fear, and desperation. Even when I questioned their choices, I understood why they made them.

The themes of motherhood, identity, grief, and family secrets add real emotional weight beneath all the twists and suspense. The twin storyline was especially intriguing and gave the mystery an extra layer that kept me guessing. This keeps you guessing think you figured it out, but the final reveals still manage to catch you off guard.

Yes, there are a couple of moments that require suspending disbelief, but honestly I didnt care. This is exactly the kind of psychological thriller I love tense, addictive, emotionally charged, and packed with twists that keep you intrigued and second guessing everything.

If you're a fan of fast paced psychological thrillers with unreliable characters, family drama, and shocking reveals, this one is an easy recommendation. This release July 30, 2026

Thank you to Jessica Huntley, Joffe Books and BookSprout for an ARC of this book.

I know I brag about Jessica Huntley every time I review one of her books, but what can I say? She’s an auto-buy author for me. The second I see one of her ARCs pop up, I’m basically standing there with my hand raised, begging for a copy. No shame.

Do be sure to check the TRIGGER WARNINGS.

Huge thanks to Jessica Huntley and Joffe Books for letting me read this one early. All opinions are my own and left voluntarily.

“She Stole My Baby” starts with the raw, messy, overwhelming side of new motherhood. Poppy is a single mom, a lawyer, and completely exhausted. She’s juggling her return to work in an office packed with older men who seem to have skipped every lesson in simple respect. Throw in the struggle of breastfeeding, zero family support, a nanny she can hardly afford, and a baby she never planned for, and Poppy is barely hanging on.

Then she goes to pick up her daughter from daycare.

And they tell her the baby has already been picked up.

By Poppy.

There’s even camera footage.

Excuse me? No way. I think I would have absolutely lost it.

From that moment, the tension grabs you and refuses to let go. This is the kind of thriller that keeps you teetering on the edge, second-guessing every clue, and frantically turning pages to unravel the mystery.

If you love psychological thrillers with unraveling protagonists, icy atmospheres, and plots that keep your heart spinning, you’ll never guess all of these twists. This is your next read.

I caught myself feeling anxious for no reason at all! And if Jessica Huntley isn’t already on your radar, now’s the perfect time to fix that.

Jessica Huntley has become one of those authors I can count on for an entertaining psychological thriller, and She Stole My Baby was no exception.

The premise hooked me immediately. A missing child is already every parent’s worst nightmare, but adding the uncertainty of who can actually be trusted made it even more compelling. I really enjoyed following both Poppy and Layla’s perspectives. Neither felt entirely reliable at first, which kept me questioning everyone’s motives and changing my mind more than once.

The pacing was one of the book’s strongest points. The chapters were short, the story moved quickly, and there was always another secret waiting to be uncovered. While I guessed a couple of the bigger reveals before they happened, that didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment because I still wanted to see how everything connected.

My only reason for stopping at four stars is that I would have liked a little more depth in a few areas. Some of the emotional moments and character relationships felt like they could have been explored further, and a few plot points wrapped up a bit more conveniently than I expected. Still, none of that stopped me from being invested in the story.

Overall, this was another fast, twisty thriller from Jessica Huntley that kept me entertained from beginning to end. If you enjoy domestic thrillers filled with family secrets, shifting suspicions, and plenty of tension, this one is definitely worth picking up.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

To say I devoured this would be an understatement. I'll admit - the stolen child trope is absolutely not for me. Makes me super anxious. However, this one is by Jessica Huntley so I was after it the second it was available.

Poppy is a busy woman. Single mum and work obsessed lawyer. Life is busy, but she's doing it. When she goes to pick up her daughter from nursery one day, she's in for a shock. Apparently, she has already been collected. When they watch CCTV back, they find the person who collected the child looks identical to Poppy. What?! How?! Bite your nails!

I COULDN'T BREATHE! Lord, the panic. The stress. The police being highly suspicious and so patronising. The changes of POV and the spirals. The tragic back stories and the plot twist that I once again didn't see coming!

Absolutely brilliant. Fast paced and pure tension and terror. This year I've read Pretty Little Lies and Our Dream Home by Jessica and both had me gripped, but She Stole My Baby had me chaotic.

Also... Don't mess with a mum! Female rage! Motherly rage! Mother lion protecting her cub! Jessica nailed this.

I'm still biting my nails. It's too hot in England to be freaking out this much over a book. Thriller fans - you'll love this! True definition of a page turner!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
She Stole My Baby by Jessica Huntley is a fast-paced, unputdownable, and gripping psychological thriller that masterfully explores the heavy themes of motherhood, grief, family secrets, and the unique bond between twins.

Told through the alternating perspectives of Poppy and Layla, the narrative thrives on short, punchy chapters and a series of mad, unpredictable twists. Centring on Poppy—a sleep-deprived single mother buckling under the weight of long work hours- the story introduces Layla, a complex protagonist whose erratic, delusional, and selfish actions challenge the reader's sympathy. However, as the family drama unravels, the sheer suspense makes these deeply flawed, unhinged characters oddly compelling.

Drawing effectively on the author's personal background as a twin, the book presents a well-described, easy-to-follow cast of characters despite the intricate web of secrets connecting them. While a few plot points stretch the bounds of realism, the intense emotional themes, relentless suspense, and addictive pacing make this an exceptionally enjoyable ride. For fans of Huntley's signature style, this chaotic and dark domestic thriller easily earns 5 mad stars.

Unputdownable.
I started this in the late afternoon and was still reading at midnight.
It is gripping, and twisty.
I didn't like the characters - not at all - apart from their love for the child, they were cold and unfeeling.

Jessica Huntley doesn't disappoint with this book, I have enjoyed most of those that I have read.

However, I would like someone to enlighten me. Poppy is in the supermarket having a Bimble around.
I can't find this in any dictionary.............
I have a good vocabulary, and understand British terms, but honestly have never heard this word.

The writing flows, and it is a quick read - mainly because it is gripping.

What stood out for me, was the fact that our whole lives are online, and we are easy to track down. Poppy was easily found.
What was unbelievable was how many people just 'bumped' into Layla or Poppy, and mistook them for each other. And that happened in two cities. But, yes, it is a novel, and while it didn't detract from the story, it was still unbelievable.

I do recommend this book, it is a riveting read, and I award it 4/5 stars.

She Stole My Baby
by Jessica Huntley

Excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Jessica has once again come up with an incredibly addictive and shocking psychological thriller.
This is a must-read and enthralling fast-paced suspense that had me completely hooked. It had many twists that kept me guessing, but the last twist is something else.

Poppy is struggling with juggling between her 9 months old daughter, Maddie, and her successful career.
One day, she turns up at the nursery to pick up Maddie, to be told she has already been picked up.
By who?
Asks Poppy!

By you,
four hours ago.
replies the receptionist!

CCTV shows someone completely identical to Poppy collecting her baby and has become the main suspect in kidnapping her own baby, which she denies.
Now she has a fight to prove her innocence and find the culprit, and get Maddie safely back in her arms.

I was fully engrossed in this thriller, and I did want to put this book down. The characters are incredible and as intense as the story.

A definite must-read psych thriller that shocks and puts you on edge, a gripper that's fast-paced and sets the heart racing.

She Stole My Baby is a compelling psychological thriller exploring motherhood, grief, family secrets, and the bond between twins.

I love a multi PoV structure and this is told through the alternating perspectives of Poppy and Layla, the multi-POV helping to build suspense by showing how differently they view the same events. While I didn’t find the characters particularly likeable, I could sympathise with their struggles and understand their motivations.

I did find it difficult to believe how willing Poppy seemed to be to hand over her child given what had occurred. At times, the plot left me confused, and it took a while for the bigger picture to emerge. Themes of loss, identity, and family relationships run throughout the novel, with the twin connection adding an intriguing element.

Despite these criticisms, the book kept me turning the pages. The short chapters made it easy to keep reading, and I finished it in a single sitting. I am a massive fan of Jessica’s work and she didn’t disappoint. While some plot points didn’t fully work for me, the suspense, family drama, and emotional themes made this an enjoyable read overall.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an advance review copy.

“She stole my baby” is a suspense novel that follows career-driven Poppy Banks on a search for her missing baby. The person who stole her looks exactly like her – cue wild ride.

Both of the main characters are very unlikeable and I found myself not rooting for either of them, but as the book progressed I had more empathy for them. It is a fast paced story and I found myself staying up a bit later at night to read what happens – always an indication that it’s a good book!

As a mother myself, stories like this do grab my attention, because it is a worst case scenario situation but this book definitely delivers some proper twists and turns. It is not what you’d expect just looking at the cover.

The twists were not very shocking but quite plausible and I did enjoy them.
It is an easy lazy Sunday read.

Loved, loved and more loved!!!!! I didn’t even have to read the blurb to know I needed to read this book. This author has become one of my favorites and this one proves why. Her books have so many shocking twists and turns. My mind was blown. I kept saying WOW after each chapter passed. I couldn’t put this one down for the life of me. I was super invested. I’m not sure if it was because of all the shifty characters or the twisted plot or that ending that had my head spinning. I’m guessing it was all three of these reasons. This book was great along with this authors other books. I can’t get enough of her. Every time I read one of her books I’m not sure how she’s going to top it but then her next book comes out and she does. I highly recommend this author and all her books. I’m looking forward to her next one after this one. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I was lucky enough to read an arc of this book from booksprout. Jessica is one of my favourite authors so I was excited to read her latest novel!

I went in this book blind, I didnt read any blurb or information about it.

I had an idea where it was going, I was on the right lines but there were so many twists and turns I never could have predicted. This book literally kept me on my toes until the very end.

There were a fair amount of characters but I found they were described well and it was very easy to keep track of who is who.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. Jessica always manages to create a true page turner.

Thanks again for the arc copy!

Poppy’s worst nightmare comes true as someone who looks just like her has taken her baby from the nursery and instead of a manhunt the cops have their fingers pointed directly at her.

A multiple point of view story with unexpected twists, turns, and nail-biting suspense. This fast-paced book was impossible to put down and you keep saying “I’ll just read one more chapter.” Poppy and Layla were realistic characters, one a single working new mother and the other so stricken with grief that she doesn’t even know exactly what she’s doing. I easily read it in a night (simply because I couldn’t put it down). Just when everything seemed to settle, a bigger twist occurred I never saw coming!

I was really excited to read this ARC of this book. The title really screamed psychological thriller vibes which is right up my alley. However, unfortunately It was executed well. I found that whilst it had a great storyline overall , it became to unbelievable with all the different plot twists that didn’t related together well. The writing seemed a bit amateurish and I found I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. I felt like I was an outsider of the book instead of being a part of the book.

She goes to the nursery to pick up her baby but they say that she has already been picked up not by the childminder but by her herself. This is utterly addictive, gripping and twisty. I don't think the characters are very likeable but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the plot. I couldn't believe the lengths the characters achieve and all while not blinking a eye. I think I became obsessed with this because I couldn't stop reading until I had finished.
