Nick Gardner is a fashion photographer working within the upper echelons in the industry. His erotically-charged photos have appeared in major magazines worldwide--he is a superstar shooter in a town filled with supermodels, desperate wannabes, and burned-out has-beens. His peers find him a little cold and aloof. A loner who won't let anyone into his private world. All because Nick holds on to a secret past. Another identity buried for more than 10 years. An entirely different career that has been hidden deep in his soul, along with murder. What Nick doesn't understand is that murder--no matter how distant--will always find its revenge. Available now. 2 cassettes.
Well written, as is only to be expected from Terrill Lee Lankford. The story moves right along as fashion photographer Nick Gardner tries to figure out who killed the woman found in a dumpster outside his house the day after he brought her home for the night. Because if he doesn't figure it out, the police certainly won't. A classic noir setup.
We travel with him through the world that is the dark mirror image of Hollywood, the pornography industry and its associated trades. Ironically, perhaps, the porn industry--the one that produces good clean, family-type porn--is portrayed as having much more decent business practices than the regular movie industry.
But all in all, it's a a sleazy trawl through a sleazy society. Of course, that may be a plus. Other people have raved over it.
I have to say I much preferred Earthquake Weather and Blonde Lightning.
A very engaging book. Shooter being a slang expression for a photographer. Nick is a high-end commercial photographer who got his start in more humble circumstances, but eventually finds himself pulled back to those beginnings because of a murder he is personally involved in.
A wild, graphic story of a photographer framed for the murder of a porn star. Not for the faint of heart. The ending was disappointing or I may have given it 5 stars
