They’ll be the death of him.

I enjoyed this. I have to admit that I did guess the ending very early on. But this was still a fun story. It felt like a hard core goosebumps or something. Another one down in the A-Z four stars from me. Onto G now.
I thought I'd try a few of these 30 minute reads from Kindle to see how they compare quality wise to other short stories I've read.
I am really becoming quite enamored with Iain Robb Wright as an author, he knows how to masterfully weave words together in a way that has you peeping from behind your fingers at the action and at other times chilling you right to your core. This offering is a tale of a bored teenager on the cusp of manhood, holidaying with his parents. He meets a bevy of teenage beauties (3) and teenage male hormones being what they are, follows them into the woods to check out a supposedly haunted area where a teenage girl was eviscerated. Is it merely a ghost story? An urban myth? Or is it something altogether real ..... and very, VERY old. You'll just have to read to find out! Another example of quality workmanship by the author.

Synopsis: Thirteen-year old Max is interested in only one thing: girls. Which is why his dreams come true when his lame caravanning holiday with his parents is lightened up by the arrival of three pretty girls his own age. Review: Another great instalment in Iain Rob Wright's A-Z of Horror. This short story series is fast becoming my favourite. Full of suspense, goriness and fear. Fantastic.
I really enjoyed this one. Found it quite creepy. I was having an 'in the woods, get me out of here' kind of panic at one point!
The following quote made me giggle. Mainly because I pictured exactly what our boy dog is like when we throw a ball for him - an extremely eager deep breathing, huffing and puffing beast, lol :-)
"Max was attracted to girls like a dog was attracted to a bright yellow tennis ball."
I enjoyed F is for Feral (A-Z of Horror book 6) by Iain Rob Wright. Max aged fourteen had to endure yet another Hamley's caravan park holiday and he resented it as most of his school friends went abroad for their holidays.
In a small amusement arcade three girls befriend him and they all end up heading for the woods nearby. The three girls relate a horror story to Max that a girl had gone into these same woods ten years ago and was torn apart by a stray dog and that she now haunts these very woods where they all are.
Unbeknown to all of them they are going to encounter more than just a stray dog in these woods today.
A hormone-driven teenage male gets lured into the woods by three teenage girls. I thought I saw where the plot was going but I was happily wrong. It would've been really disappointing if the plot was that simple.
The good things and the not-so-good things about this chapter ultimately balanced it out to a 3-star. The good things:
1. The plot wasn't fully predictable 2. The way Max's only motivation in the story overlapped with the story's 'monster' actually felt cosmic 3. I learned a new creature today
The con:
1. The exposition of the history made by one of the girls was a little too on the nose. There could've been greater suspense if Max had a suspicion and looked up the previous homicide case on his own. It just made the story more shallow but the writing style mostly made up for that.
So if you're looking for a 20-minute read about teenagers making stupid decisions provoking bad omen, here's a sign!
I gave 4 stars because Wright always delivers! I have read all the previous books in this series and have enjoyed them all. I really don't enjoy short stories but I definitely enjoy his!
Not sure if I should or not but I felt bad for Max, he got what he was after eventually though-kind of! F is for fantastic! Highly recommend to all fans of modern horror.
