I would have preferred a more cohesive story rather than a string of concepts expressed in simplistic phrases. The illustrations are appealing, though.
Note: I received a digital galley through NetGalley.

I didn't like this book. It didn't flow right to me even though it rhymed. The illustrations are really cute, but I just didn't like what was being said in the book most of the time. I love the cat illustration throughout the story though. That was really cute.

A very sweet story of a little girl preparing for kindergarten. She is getting ready--learning to share, learning to ask for help, learning to say I'm sorry. This would be a great book to share with kids heading off to Kindergarten or school for the first time. Really appealing illustrations, too!

This is fine as a general day-to-day book but it has very little about actual kindergarten; maybe the title is the biggest problem.

Ready, Set, Kindergarten is a picturebook by Paula Ayer and Danielle Arbour which is currently schedule for release on March 2 2015. This charming tale of a little girl’s experience touches on the many milestones children concur while getting ready and going to school for the first time. The child can count out plates when she helps Dad set the table, call out letters when she walks with Mom, and help her stuffed animals say sorry after they fight. With a little help from Mom, Dad, her cat, and faithful toy mouse, she’s now ready for her new adventure, kindergarten!
Ready, Set, Kindergarten is a picturebook great for families approaching the milestone of kindergarten. It uses clear, simple language and pictures that are colorful and still somehow soothing. It reaches out to parents that might be worried their child is not ready with some things they can do with their child to get them ready, and helps show children that kindergarten is safe, fun, and a great place for learning.
I would recommend Ready, Set, Kindergarten to any family with parents or children worried about being ready for kindergarten. I think it would also be good for use in preschools and day care centers as the children in their care get ready to face kindergarten as well.

Starting school can be a scary experience, not only for the children but the parents. In this story the little girl learns that all this time, each and every day she with her parents help is preparing for that special day. The first day of Kindergarten. The pictures are bright and colorful, which help to keep the readers attention. The wording is simple enough that emergent readers can read this book with little assistance, while non readers will enjoy listening to the story.
I recommend this book for all parents of soon to be kindergarteners to read to their child.

February 18, 2016This is a book I might read to pre-schoolers on the last day of school, because I think that it would be a cute idea to get them ready. It also could be used as an alphabet and a counting book, because within the story the child talks about how she sees letters and she wants to learn more words. Then she talks about how she wants to learn more about counting. This book can really get kids excited for the first day of kindergarten.

I really enjoyed this book because it describes a young girl and all her adventures before she starts kindergarten. My goal is to someday become a kindergarten teacher therefore I think this book would be very useful to read to my students on the first day of class.
