CEO Rand Kincaid had never been coerced—until his entire future was at stake. Under the stipulations of his father's will, Rand had to rehire Tara Anthony as his assistant. It was either get along with the one woman who'd dared to leave him first, or lose his family empire.
But before Tara would accept, she gave Rand her own demands. She wanted a second chance, with Rand back in her home and bed as her lover. And nothing prepared him for where this arrangement would lead.
Bestselling Silhouette author and double Rita finalist Emilie Rose has sold 30+ projects to Harlequin/Silhouette since her first sale in 2001, and her books have been released in over 20 countries around the globe.
She's back to working a 9-5 job and writing is taking a backseat right now.
omg this gave me a headache ! rand was awful to tara ! he had misjudged her badly and punished her for a crime which wud be no crime if she had committed it ! bcoz if she had indeed slept wid his father, then he had already left her (callously, add to dat!) and she was free to do so !
I gave this book the benefit of the doubt that it was going to wrap everything up in a bow but I really don't think it did. Tara was pulling some shady manipulative shit trying to get Rand to fall in love with her but lying and say she just wanted sex. Rand wasn't much better but at least he was honest about the will stipulations. He didn't want to hear Tara's explanation about what he saw all those years ago when he caught her coming out of Rand's fathers house. But I also understand he didn't feel like he could trust her. But if he couldn't trust anything that came out of her mouth why would he ask her anything?! So I definitely had more sympathy/respect for Rand than Tara but they are both assholes and deserve each other.
I quite disliked this one, the heroine almost slept with heroes father 5 years before and regretted not going through with it and still regretted til last chapter. I dislike the heroine for other reasons as well like for making hero sleep with her and planning for him to fall in love with her, I find that to be so pathetic as well as letting him treat her like he did with mechanical sex, suggesting threesome with his brother (said it to make her not want him to her stud).
Duh. Ever since the beginning, I couldn't understand the logic behind the heroine's "demand". I know that HP books are not the place to look for logic, but even by HP standard her demand doesn't make sense to me. And the hero is as bad - or worse - because all he does throughout the book is lamenting his daddy issue. Thank you.
Yeah, I know Rand kind of ass to Tara. But let me talk about the father! Wtf, father??? How come it was a test?? Like, be real. Who do the test like that? And made his own son work like that to the point he became claustrophobic? Really? That man doesn’t deserve to be a father, at all.
D1871 May08 Payback Affairs #1. Rand Kincaid returns as CEO of Kincaid Cruise Lines for one year. This is forced on him by his father's will, his brother and sister have one year demands also. Should any of the three fail they will all forfeit everything to another cruise business for $1.00. Rand also must rehire Tara Anthony as his PA of five years ago. Right after he had ended things between them he had seen her leaving his father's suite.
I enjoyed the short read. I was constantly trying to guess what was going to happen next. I was also caught up in the mystery of what really happened in the past and who was right. I'm glad everything was straightened out and look forward to reading the other stories about this family
I felt as if Tara put herself out there for something that may or may not give her the satisfaction she was looking for. Rand was in it for what he did not want his family to lose.
Loved this first in the Payback Affairs series. The characters are so deeply touching because they've had a hard time of it, and I love that they complete each other so well, and can take both of their pain and turn it into a relationship that works. Rand was sexy, as all Desire heroes are, but I loved Tara. Her story was so touching and I love that it's a reunion story, but a reunion story where they've both changed enough since their failed try to make it work this time. Well done.
