How to be creative: rediscover your creativity and live the life you truly want

Rate this book
For many of us, creativity is something that belongs to other people - actors, writers, musicians, artists - it is not something we would describe ourselves as having. However, creativity is innate in everyone and a key part of our personality. As children, we are in touch with our natural creativity. We learn by engaging all of our senses and we know the value of curiosity and fun. As we get older this creative and intuitive self is stifled and locked away as we become burdened with responsibilities at work and home. In 'How to Be Creative', Liz Dean shows you simple ways to bring creativity back into your life. She shows you how spending just ten minutes a day on a creative project is enough time to spark new ideas and tap into your creative power.

I'm an author and an intuitive, writing primarily about tarot, creativity and manifesting. My latest project, HBO's Game of Thrones Tarot, was published in March 2018, along with The Ultimate Guide to Divination in April. I practise and teach tarot at Psychic Sisters within Selfridges, London; Crystal Moon Emporium in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear; and privately, via Skype. This August, 3-5, I teach at The Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York.

My background is in illustrated book publishing, commissioning authors (so I know what it's iike to be on both sides of the industry); and I co-edited Kindred Spirit magazine for a year or two. I've also worked as a copy-writer for publishers and the BBC, and work as a ghostwriter.

I hope you enjoy my books and I look forward to hearing from you.

Great book on how to develop creatively. I think this is a book that one would pick up from time to time to help develop the muse. The key chapters for me on the first read of this were on time management and fitting creativity in my day.

Starts well, with some great pointers of ways to build creativity into everyday life, but gets a bit overly spiritual by the closing chapters.

I came across this book at a JoAnne's craft/fabric store while waiting on my wife. I am a writer with procrastination and follow through problems. I felt that this book introduced me to lots of new ideas and things to try out. It is written more like a boutique of independent exercises that you can pick and choose from. The author presented some amazing insights that will really help my writing career out. I learned a lot about my personality and work habits/blocks from chapters in this book. I think anyone who is or wants to be creative can benefit from reading this book.

I found this book on being creative interesting in sections, but I felt like I had read / seen all the points made before.
