I grew up in the Midlands, but when I moved to Wales, over twenty years ago, I found a place to finally put down roots. I married into a farming family and embarked on a massive learning curve which also saw me learning Welsh when my two children were small.
Writing is something I have always wanted to do and I can still remember the thrill of one of my short stories being held up as an example to the class when I was about nine. It wasn’t until my own children were in school that I seriously started to pursue my dream. I joined a local writing group which met every Monday afternoon and being with like-minded people was the boost I needed.

Reading romance had always been my first love, and just about every short story I wrote was romance, so I decided to write my first book. During that process I also attended my first weekend writing course with Kate Walker and joined the RNA’s fabulous New Writers’ Scheme. A short time later I joined Romance Writers of Australia and learnt a lot from entering their competitions. I sought out courses and you can imagine my joy when I discovered Sharon Kendrick’s course in beautiful Tuscany.

Behind the Scandalous Façade, my So You Think You Can Write entry, is my thirteenth book and although only eight have those magic words ‘the end’ written on them the others are definitely part of the learning process I have enjoyed over the last six years.

I love escaping to distant shores with my characters, entering their glamorous world and feeling all the emotions they experience as they discover their love for one another. A love so strong it will overcome all obstacles eventually, leading to that promised happy ever after.

There are one or two minor spoilers

From One Night to Wife by Rachael Thomas is the part of One Night with Consequences series but can be read as a standalone. This series has been a bit of a hit and miss for me…but I wanted to follow up on this author after reading her debut novel, A Deal Before the Altar, which was so-so for me…. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Wow, I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. I really liked it!!!

Now, before I say that it was partly due to the hero being a Greek gorgeous tycoon….definitely…I adore Greek heroes…see I had one of my own in my life!!!! They are just so alpha and interesting…you know what I am trying to say, right???

I could also add the fact that the story was set in Greece….loved the scene of the Acropolis in Athens
 photo acropolis-sunset_zpsugvedbru.jpg
and the island of Santorini, one of the most beautiful and romantic Greek Islands…
 photo images_zpsmzuibh2v.jpg
…. and where I spent part of my honeymoon!!! Okay, I was in heaven!!!

The hero, Nikos…successful, rich, wounded and tormented by his past, never wants to feel love and have children.

The heroine, Serena…a travel writer is beautiful, strong, passionate, vulnerable, has been affected by her parents feelings towards her whilst growing up.

Nikos and Serena had met in Santorini three months previously when she has on vacation. They had a passionate fling, which ended rather abruptly when Nikos told her that it was just a god time to him , after she blurt out that she loved him. But the result from that affair will have some life changing consequences for both.

Now Serena is back in Santorini to give Nikos the news of the “consequences” of that time together!!! She had fallen in love with him and had never stopped…and having discovered that he had lied about being a fisherman but was in fact a billionaire, was something so hurtful and painful…and even more the fact that he had lied to her.

Nikos has been trying to forget Serena…he doesn’t need love and is distrustful of every woman he meets…especially English women!! And now he finds himself in a situation he had never wanted and with an English woman!!!!

To solve the problem of the unplanned baby and his heir, that Serena is carrying, he tells her she has to marry him and live in Greece!!! Just like that!!! Despite the fact that he thinks she’s after his money and nothing else!!! Hey, dude…can’t you open your eyes and see and feel her love for you? And wait….you are not exactly immune to her….in fact…you feel a hell of a lot for her!!! Forget the past….what happened to you and your father doesn’t mean it will happen to you!!!!

Really, I wish these two would have stopped all that angst and drama and get on with it!!!

I enjoyed the dialogue and the story….just nit-picking a bit here..but there were a few things in the story that were a tiny bit repetitive…but, hey…I am being a bit repetitive myself here!!!

I liked that Serena and Nikos were both strong and passionate in their own way!!! Serena wasn’t this whimpering and whining woman, needing a man to take care of her but rather wanted a partner to share their lives as equals.

This was a really romantic story…..two people, whose love will heal each other’s wounds and find happiness together.

I loved the epilogue!!! Unexpectedly fabulous!!! And how could someone’s HEA not make you happy!!

Ugh. I really hated this book primarily because of the incredibly mean and suspicious hero, Nikos. To say he jumped to the worst conclusions ever puts it mildly.

He lies to the heroine; he dumps her brutally; he accuses her of.. oh everything, and he manipulates when he finds out about the baby. Serena is basically without vertebrae with the exception of one scene. She stands on her own for about ten minutes then capitulates. Nikos magic P must be awesome. When he finally, shockins, realizes he loves her she caves like a house of cards. She could at least have made him work a little.

Oh yeah, and the magical explanation of why his mother left is supposed to make it better? I'm sorry to allow rational thought interfere with the worst tropes of Harley-land, but no. NO.

Boring characters, no chemistry, and blind, stupid cruelty.

Re-read review
This loser and A Pawn in the Playboy's Game both came from Harlequin Presents September 2015 - Box Set 1 of 2: The Greek Commands His Mistress\Traded to the Desert Sheikh\A Pawn in the Playboy's Game\From One Night to Wife, a collection with some real stinkers. Sometimes it's not such a bad thing having the hero be a total arrogant, domineering jackass in your Harlequin novel, but it only works when the heroine cannot not only walk erect but can dish it out. This heroine can not do either: spineless and namely pamby.

He finds out that she's pregnant from their two week affair where he lied like a dog about who he really is. He poses as a simple fisherman, la de da, when in actuality he is an evil, capitalistic Greek tycoon who wheels and deals. Sooooo, with all the rational thought process of an alpha Greek tycoon he comes up with the following:

A) She is using him to get her journalist career off the ground even though she's really a travel journalist.
B) Despite being a virgin is USING him to get pregnant so she can rake in the money.
C) Despite being a virgin is USING him to get pregnant so she can give the baby to her infertile sister.
D) Okay, he quit at C, but the inner monologuing over what the h's motives are never stops.

And make up your mind dude, she might do one of the above, but hardly all three.

Angst, sex, angst, sex, fight, sex, sneer, sex, angst, scowl, boss, angst and sex happen. She finally leaves because, wait for it, she says I love you, and it creates a disturbance in the Force.

Even when he is there for the laughably nonexistent grovel to get her back he accuses her of selling the sad and sordid story of his mother to the newspaper. And no, she didn't do that either. At one point he's waving the paper in her face, she should have snatched the damn thing out of his hand and smacked him upside the head with it. Not only was she not responsible, she didn't even know what it said BECAUSE IT WAS WRITTEN IN GREEK!!!!!

I am not bothering with the last in the boxed set, Traded to the Desert Sheikh, and I am ignoring The Greek Commands His Mistress.

I have a nice bottle of dry Riesling waiting for me now and something intellectual, Brawn (New Species, #5) by Laurann Dohner . Does it have a plot? No. Do I care? No. Why did I choose Brawn (New Species, #5) by Laurann Dohner ? The cover.

Once again, glad I have a Kindle.

I find myself in a quandry on how to rate this book.It had the tropes I liked...Greek hero with a stunning Santorini setting, virgin heroine who was strong and not a doormat, baby plot, blackmail, you get the gist.
What brought this down to a four star read is the first quarter of the book.Over and over, internal dialogue and flashblacks to the " infamous" night that led to a " consequence",it was way too much.
So basically, this story is about a couple who meet on the island of Santorini during the heroine ,Selena's two week vacation, she is a travel writer. She meets a Greek fisherman ,so she thinks, and they embark on a hot affair, she giving him her virginity in the process. On their last night together, things get hot and heavy,no condom used, and the hero,Nikos informs Serena to contact him if any " consequences" of their night develop.
So," consequences" develop and Serena, now three months pregnant decides to go tell her fisherman that he is to be a father in person. But wait,Nikos is not a fisherman,he is a billionaire shipping magnate .Serena finds this out just as she is to board her plane.
Thus begins this couple's rocky road to romance. Both H/h came from less than happy childhood homes which deeply affected their adult lives.
I really enjoyed the second part of this book as the tone and intensity picked up to make an enjoyable read.Lovely epilogue which I always love when an author includes it.

Beautiful love story. Serena and Nikos are both vulnerable and broken. They both had an ugly childhood. Nikos is your typical sexy tycoon with mother issues. He doesn't want love. Love had only ever caused him pain.

Serena is reluctant to marry him for convenience just because she is having his baby. When she fell in love with him she thought he was a simple fisherman. Now she learns he is a ruthless tycoon. Will she be able to trust him? Will Nikos realize he is in love with Serena before it's too late?

This Harlequin reminded me of my favorite vintage Harlequins. I loved Serena. She was sweet and innocent a truly classy, warm, lovable heroine. Nothing like your modern bitchy heroines. Nikos was alpha but his vulnerability made him lovable. These two had great chemistry I loved them together. Sex scenes were passionate and the epilogue heartwarming!

I found this HP not the easiest to read.

We have Serena who finds out she's pregnant after a two week romance while on vacation with a local fisherman, Nikos. The final night they where together they had unprotected sex because they both became over come by there passion. Nikos becomes angry and wants Serena to let him know if there are any consequences. She leaves to go back home, realizes she's pregnant and returns a couple months later to let him know of the consequences. Oh, and as she waiting to board the plane back to Greece she finds out he's shipping billionaire because her News App flashes something about a Greek Shipping Billionaire ...what???

This is part of my problem with this story. We have about a third of the beginning story going on and on about this final night that almost makes no sense. His anger, the unprotected sex, her reaction, it was repetitive and had inner dialogue that was so dry. It really made no sense in regards to why he was angery (geez half your fault buddy)! We have issues of his abandonment from his Mom and how he could never feel love. Issues about her being the reason her parents had to stay together in there miserable marriage because she was a mistake (her parent had been getting ready to split up).

After I read through this portion of the book, with difficulty, the rest was a little better. Nikos and Serena come to the decision to marry. They now have a push and pull in there relationship. Serena with, will he ever love me and Nikos with will she abandon me like my mother and can I ever love.

Again this wasn't an easy read. If you can get past the first half the second half isn't bad.

Netgalley for an honest review.

This is by far the worst "one night with consequences" I have ever read. The dialogue between the characters in the very beginning seemed forced and extremely awkward. It went absolutely nowhere! "You're having my child." "I'm having your child." "You're going to give my child away to your sister." "No. I'm keeping my child." "I don't believe you. You're going to give my child away to your sister." LIKE ?! This conversation isn't directly from the book but readers of my review can understand my drift and where I am going with this. Anyways, towards the middle I thought the dialogue would get better and it did but then Rachael Thomas set fire to my hopes and dreams because in the end, the dialogue went back to being piss poor. The only thing I really liked about this book was how different the heroine decided to treat the hero's declaration of love. Bravo for that part but boo all the rest! Skip this read is my final recommendation but read it if you want to see what I liked about the ending.

Shipping tycoon Nikos Petrakis and travel writer Serena James’ passionate affair three-months ago have resulted in life changing consequences. Serena is carrying Nikos’ baby. As a result of her pregnancy, Serena travels to Greece to inform Nikos she is carrying his child only to learn a shocking revelation just before boarding her flight—the fisherman who she’d shared hot, tempestuous nights with is actually a billionaire! When Serena finally meets Nikos on the beach, he questions her on whether she’d known who he was all along and has come to stake her claim. But Serena is innocent even as Nikos hurls accusations upon her. When Nikos suggests they get married, Serena knows she has no other choice. But as they get to know each other better, their physical attraction takes precedence and it is not before long that Nikos and Serena acts upon these shared feelings.

FROM ONE NIGHT TO WIFE by Rachael Thomas is full of angst, drama and high-strung emotions. The dialogue is strong and intense. The characters share strength, resilience and they are passionate people. Their self-will demands attention. Ms. Thomas paints a vividly descriptive romantic tale with her unique writing style and this novel’s distinctive plot is sure to keep readers turning the pages.

Great premise but awful execution. It was boring, dry and utterly unengaging. I am struggling with some of these heroines that are currently emerging in Mills and Boon land.
They are stupid and judgemental and unnecessarily stubborn.

This one feels guilty because her parents had an unhappy marriage, and also guilty because her sister is struggling to get pregnant whilst she’s fallen pregnant after a night of wild sex.

Selina returns to tell the hero, but discovers at the airport that he’s a billionaire and not simply a fisherman. She spends the rest of the book telling him he lied to her, and ‘knowing’ he didn’t love her and she apparently has failed to know him at all during their 2 week affair.

The hero Nikos is equally annoying. He goes from being a relaxed, steamy lover for 2 weeks to being an absolute jerk when she returns and that behaviour is never satisfactorily explained. Nothing seems real.

The prose is turgid in places and there’s so much internal monologue that I lost interest. I have read other stuff by this writer and enjoyed it. This just did not work for me.

This one is a story that I really enjoyed I loved the setting and I loved the hero Nikos Petrakis who is so tortured from his childhood that he is determined that he will never love because he can't he has built a big business as a shipping tycoon but always returns to the place he calls home the Greek Island of Santorini and works for a few weeks on his beloved fishing boats and this is where his life changes for him after meeting beautiful English girl Serena James who is a journalist who writes about holiday destinations.

Serena is very close to her sister but not her parents so has never gotten too close to any of her boyfriends so when she meets fisherman Nikos and there is an instant spark between them she gives herself to him and falls in love and they spend a very sensual two weeks together but after one very passionate night on the beach things end not so good for them and Serena returns home.

Three months later when Serena needs to return and tell Nikos that there were consequences from their last night together everything changes Serena realizes that there have been many secrets kept by Nikos and as she gets to know him better things get harder but Serena loves Nikos the fisherman but Nikos the business man is a different matter but after a very rough journey they both open up to each other and you will be smiling especially when Nikos realizes how much he loves Serena.

This is a story that will keep you turning the pages a beautiful story that is emotional heart-warming and very sensual and I highly recommend this one.

FROM ONE NIGHT TO WIFE by author Rachael Thomas is a September 2015 release by Harlequin Presents series.

Nikos Petrakis stormed out of Serena James life once but he could never ever forget the attraction he felt for her. For long after his body ached for her. But he kept firm about his no commitment rule.
Now Serena was back. Why was she here? Was there some consequences to their passion? But why wait three months to let him know?

Would Nikos stand by and let Serena walk away with his child, his heir? Then he proposes and Serena couldn’t really believe why would he choose her to marry? Could he let her in his heart to know the reason why he didn’t want commitment? Could he let her in his heart, ever?

FROM ONE NIGHT TO WIFE moves along very fast with thrilling dialogue. It is a wonderfully fulfilling romance written by author Rachael Thomas. I was hooked from the first page till the end. It’s a very fast paced story and filled with sensuality and emotional intensity.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

Serena James finds herself pregnant after an affair with Nikos a fisherman three months ago. Feeling she must let him know of the situation she travels to Greece to find him. However before she boards her flight she finds out that her fisherman is actually billionaire shipping tycoon Nikos Petrakis. Upon confronting him on the beach he questions whether she knew all along who he was and if she got pregnant deliberately. From here starts a journey filled with high emotions because Nikos wants to be married for the sake of the baby. Its a wonderful romance of two people that had more than a physical attraction but try to deny it. Nikos has never felt the emotion of love but , Ms. Thomas writing engages you in their strong will to deny what is really their intense feeling for each other. The journey is a lovely one and its a story that will keep you enthralled from page one.

"From One Night to Wife" by Rachael Thomas is a quick, classic romance read. Serena James had an affair three months before with Nikos Petrakis who was a 'fisherman.' When she shows up in Greece things are not all that they seem. Her fisherman is a billionaire, and he thinks that she waited too long to show up to tell him because she got pregnant on purpose.

Great read because if you're pressed for time and can't read the book straight through it's easy to pick up where you left off. Some books aren't like that. Much more to this story between Serena and Nikos but instead of me telling you about it you should read it for yourself.

This is a Wallow of a book. This incredibly tedious book is composed primarily of two wildly immature and not terribly bright people who are utterly incapable of direct communication or understanding words that they hear said to their faces.

The man's head was so far up his ass he was a donut. He didn't even manage to extract it until after she left him and he came charging after her to accuse her of selling his family history to the press. I mean like literally from one second to the next he goes from "this gold-digging bitch sold my privacy!" to "oh golly, I guess I love her"?! *vomits*

Perhaps I could have tolerated this better and not been so completely revolted if the attraction/love between them had been believable on any level. It was not. I never for a moment believed there was enough between them, from their two-week affair during which he lied about who he was and what he did for a living, to motivate the woman to believe that he could ever return her feelings. And then his behavior after she returns to tell him she's pregnant? Every last bit of that was vile. But she was so stupid and passive she just went along with his every decree, taking every last bit of abuse. Oh sure, sometimes she'd pipe up and ask a question or disagree, but then she'd instantly cave when he touched her or whatever.

If you enjoy wallowing in repetitive angst due to an abject refusal to comprehend words then this is the book for you. It was not the book for me.

3.5 stars. The story was very enjoyable actually, but too forward. The ending was too abrupt. The hero lied to the heroine for her to think that he was only a fisherman. They had an affair for two weeks, which leads to pregnancy. They both had a rough past. She loved him, but he didn't believe in love. At the end, she didn't trust him when he told her he loved her. Serve him right.

Serena goes in search of the father of her baby, a hadsome Greek fisherman, to let him know the consequences of their night together. Just as she's about to lift off she finds out who he really is... billionaire shipping mogul Nikos. Nikos is furious, so sure that travel writer/journalist Serena must of known who he was and desperate to either snare him into marriage or worse yet, give his child away to her sister who so desperately wants her own child after so many failed attempts at IVF. Their childhoods force both Serena and Nikos to rethink their futures and how they are going to deal with the unexpected bundle of joy. Serena reluctantly agrees to marriage and is thrust into NIkos's glamous Greek world.

Serena's path to happy ever after is a tough one. Her family shapes her outlook on life and going out on a limb for her unborn baby she grasps Nikos offer. Nikos is a brilliant Alpha, taking charge and bossing Serena about in the most uncharming way and even though things soften and they lapse into a physical but loveless relationship. Serena loved fisherman Nikos with all her heart but Greek Billionaire Nikos is a completely different story and while physical relationships are fantastic, they can only last so long love isn’t reciprocated or hidden.

I really enjoyed From One Night to Wife, it's another fantastic addition to the One Night of Consequences series. Serena and Nikos are two complete opposites in so many ways and yet so similar in others. Their backgrounds shape them and to become one they need to do some soul searching and due to the brilliant and passionate writing, it was hard and emotional watching Serena try to show Nikos it was ok to let go and love. The setting in Greece was so beautiful, I was right there, looking out to the stunning views and visiting same tourist destinations Nikos took Serena to but the star of the show was the dialogue and the beautiful descriptive and passionate and emotive writing woven into a lovely story.

When Nikos was a little boy, his mother told him he was unlovable right before she left. He watched as his mother walked away. He would watch as the boats came into port onto the small island where he lived with his grandparents. He had always hoped he would see his mother get off one of the boats, and tell him it wasn't true. He wanted his mother to love him, and to be there for him. Her absence shaped him, and affected his way of life, and his actions. He always thought he was unlovable. Nikos never wanted to marry, or be a father. He had short affairs, and never let his heart get attached. He never wanted to go through the pain again, of having someone he loved walk away, and never come back.
Serena grew up with a mom, and dad that fought all the time. She was told by her parents that she was mistake. She was the mistake that forced her parents to stay together in a loveless marriage. She never wanted her own child to go through that. Serena had a older sister that pretty much raised Serena. She showed Serena the love that her own parents never did. Now her big sister is married. The couple has been trying for years to make a baby. The couple has even tryed IVF, but it coast so much, and hasn't been successful.

Serena went on vacation, and met Niko. The two spent a passion filled week together in each other's arms. Serena fell in love during that week. She knew that time together was very special. At the end of the week Niko sent her away after breaking things off. He did demand to know if that week had resulted in any consequences. Serena thought He was just a fisherman.

She got the shock of her life when she travelled back to the island to tell him he was going to be a father. He was a very rich, and cold business. He demanded that she marry him. I love this book, because Serena had a back bone, and just didn't go along with his plans. The two in the end had to talk everything out. The two did love one another, but had to be brave enough to tell the other how they felt. It ended with the book being a sweet story. The story itself was filled with emotion, from love, to pain, to doubts, and fear. it did tug at my heart in places.

This story starts three month after the initial action, which you find out more about as the story progresses. It shows that one night can have significant consequences and impact on the lives of all concerned. Fortunately, in this case things will work out in the end but the journey to their HEA is traumatic, filled with misunderstandings, has actions ruled by past experiences and falters along the way. Arrogance, stubbornness and cussedness all play significant roles in this dramatic romance - and that’s not only on the part of the male lead! It shows again that, in the world of romantic literature, love conquers all, even if there are a few hiccups along the way!

Serena James had a fantastic two week holiday three months ago on the Greek island of Santorini. Whilst she was there she met and fell in love with a local fisherman, Nikos Petrakis. Now there are consequences to their torrid affair which ended badly on their last night together after he realised they’d been so carried away by their passion that they had forgotten to use protection. She’s going back to reveal that he was right to be worried, she is expecting their child. Before she meets him she has another shock. It turns out he’s not the penniless local fisherman she thought, instead he’s the very rich billionaire owner of a freight shipping line. She is astounded when his reaction to the news is to demand she marries him but he is only wanting to do so for the sake of their child, not professing any love for her. She grew up in a family where she was repeatedly told she was a mistake and the only reason her parents stayed in their loveless marriage. She doesn’t want that for her child. Is there any chance of love finding a way for this couple or will they be better off apart? An interesting read to curl up with!

A travel journalist on the island of Santorini (Greece), Serena falls in love with a local fisherman knowing there is no future for their relationship. But she is content that there will be enough memories that she can live her life thinking of those moments with her fisherman, Nikos. But not all goes to plan.

Though he is enamoured by the sweet Serena who does not have airs about her but still Nikos lies to her about his identity. He makes her believe he is a poor fisherman eking a living on the island and lives in a old, small, whitewashed house.

Finally it is time to say good bye and things get out of hand. Boom! And there are consequences.

Serena wants to tell her fisherman about the baby they have made and hopes that there might be a future for them after all. Before she boards the plane to Greece, though, she finds out the real identity of the billionaire who is her baby's father. A man she has not even a hope to live her life with. Still she makes good on her promise and goes to the island again to inform him face-t-face.

Nikos believes him to be a fool of the first order to have succumbed to Serena's seduction so that she can trap him to fulfill her family's wishes. Decides that no more will he be a fool and is determined to be his child's father. Determined to make Serena his wife. Is it love? He does not believe in such nonsense, of course.

Serena goes with the plan because dropping the father of her baby from their life is difficult for her irrespective of however her hear hurt. She did not want that pain for her baby.

Now all that remains is for Nikos to realise his love for his new family but is he up to the challenge?

From One Night to Wife by Rachael Thomas
Three months ago Serena James who is a journalist had her heart broken by a man she would never forget. Now she is back in Santorini to tell this man that they are going to be parents.
However she thought she was coming to tell a common fisherman that he was going to be a father however it was not the case. Mogul Nikos Petrakis is on the verge of making a deal that will make him even more powerful than he is already. But Serena has to tell him since he said you WILL tell me if there is any consequences from that night of unprotected sex.
She knows that her sister would give anything for carrying a baby as she cannot conceive.
Nikos and Serena are really meant to be together.
You must read the book to find what really happens on the end. But it an awesome story…

A souvenir from her Greek affair!

Three months ago, journalist Serena James had her heart broken by a man she'll never forget, especially not the fury in his eyes the night they parted. Now she's back in Santorini to tell him that their summer fling had unexpected repercussions…

Mogul Nikos Petrakis is on the verge of a deal that will make him even more powerful. He doesn't need any distraction—especially not a sexy redhead whose curves beg to be touched! But now that she's carrying his heir, Nikos is forced to make a decision.

It's time to make Serena his wife!

When one night…leads to pregnancy!

The storyline was good but the way it was told was rather dull. I'm a fan of the One Night with Consequences series & found the stories interesting & exciting even though they were of the same premise. Unfortunately, this one was my least favourite.
