Fires of rage ignited, bonds of blood revealed and an all-consuming darkness closing in...
At the hands of the Mortari, Taryn Malone was forced to witness countless acts of senseless brutality. Now, safely back in Williams, Arizona, she finds that nothing is as she left it, and the life she thought she finally had will never be the same.
The discovery that her close friend, Keiryn Falcon, has a new ability that he cannot control without her Influence brings them even closer, causing a rift in her relationship with her great love, Larkin Taylor. Dealing with Larkin's jealousy, and trying to conceal the fact that she is having secret rendezvous with her Mortari friend, Lazryn, pushes Taryn to her breaking point.
Teetering on a tenuous edge, the death of a dear friend catapults her over. Visions of fire and horrific destruction consume her, as do ramblings that make no sense to any who witness them. Fearful she will hurt those she loves while lost in the madness, Taryn does what she can to distance herself from her family.
Knowing deep down that Taryn is not herself, Larkin must make the difficult decision to join forces with his sworn enemy, Lazryn, in order to understand what is driving her away before she is lost to him forever.
Will Taryn be able to fight the voices in her head and the dreams that haunt her, or will a new devious plot from the Elder Council ensure the end of everything and everyone she holds dear, once and for all?
Up all night!!! Downloaded it yesterday and stayed up all night reading it! This book was crazy good! From start to finish, I enjoyed every part. It had great pacing, was never boring and had lots of action. My cup of tea for sure! Our dear, sweet protagonist, Taryn, had a rough go in this book. I won't give any of it away, so all I can really say is that she isn't as perfect as she seemed to be. As much as I have always loved her character for her strength and compassion, I enjoyed her struggle to not lose either of those attributes as something darker tried to take hold. I also felt like her relationship with Larkin grew even stronger in this book. He truly is her rock that keeps her grounded.
I really loved seeing Larkin and Lazryn interacting. One Mortari, and one Werewolf...an unlikely pairing for sure, but their love for Taryn trumped their mutual hatred for each other. Both of these male characters are favorites of mine!
A lot of our questions that have formed from the first two books were answered in this one. And what a doozy those answers turned out to be! I didn't see some of them coming, so it was nice to be surprised. The authors did a great job of keeping me in the dark. I like being surprised. I firmly believe it ruins a story if you figure it all out way before the author makes their big reveal. While they did answer a lot of the questions, there are still some lingering ones hanging in the air. I can't wait to see how it all plays out in the last installment!
Ugh- I was really looking forward to this book until I started it. The writing was terrible in the first half- choppy and very juvenile. I started to doubt myself as to why I liked the first two so much. It took me over a week to get through because I was just not into it. The end picked up but the front half just ruined it for me.
I love the Oath saga, I cannot even express how much I love this series. A few years ago I came across the first book in the series, Whispering Winds, by accident. I was looking for another book on Goodreads and I somehow found Whispering Winds. I have no idea what made me click on the book or read the synopsis but I am so glad I did. The book description sounded really interesting but having a limited book budget I had to really debate if I wanted to purchase the book for the price of $17. There are plenty of books out there that I would have loved to have at the time but I don't have the money for that... to be honest I still don't ;) however it was down to Whispering Winds and another book and I don't know what made me pick Whispering Winds but I am so happy I did.
The series is amazing, there are magical powers that vary, the relationships are strong and complicated all at once. With a unique plot that I couldn't help but be excited to pick up the book again. I love this world Taryn has such a good heart but in this book she learns that everyone has darkness in them, it's whether they chose to let that darkness control their actions and how they live their lives. The bond between everyone and how much they care is what I love most about this book. Even though Taryn is different and goes against the norm, the group around her doesn't treat her badly. She is a guiding light but still needs people, her mom's comfort, the support of her friends and family and she needs her boyfriend Larkin to keep her in check.
One of the things that bothered me was that Larkin and Taryn had trouble in this one. While I didn't appreciate the fact that Larkin didn't believe Taryn in certain situations. The other thing that got me was I think a couple of event had occurred without an explanation and I was just a little bit confused. However even that couldn't low my rating of the book.
Reign of Fire is the third book in the series and it added to the series perfectly. In this one the Elder Council has finally done it, that have push Taryn to a point where she is losing control of her powers and as madness envelopes her no one is safe from Taryn's powers and that includes Taryn. The growth that Taryn experiences in this book is both on a physical and emotional level. Taryn's powers are growing and we get to see her use her powers on a bigger scale. While on emotional level Taryn has to come to terms with the emotions that she keeps in check all the time. She figures out that she can't bury her emotions and that she has the darker emotions like everyone.
Larkin was a keystone in this storyline. He was there to support Taryn emotional and figure out the mystery that is surrounding her so she doesn't totally pull away from those she loves. I love Larkin and Taryn together, she is the powerful one while he is the one that offers emotional support and a bit of guidance.
A lot of things happen in Reign of Fire, the Elder Council and Taryn go head-to-head and things get really dangerous. The Brothers C are staying pretty quite for now but there is something lurking there that Taryn is going to have to face someday. Family bonds are reveal, plot twists and surprises are all through out the book and also there's a hint to an even bigger plot. This series is a part of my heart I love it so much. I know the final book in the series is going to be amazing, I mean this series just gets better and better.
I don't know why I am consistently surprised to find new and AMAZING authors, but I am. I was looking for a new series to read while anxiously awaiting for the next book in my current series to be released. I fell so in love with this series that I completely forgot about the other series and read the first 3 books of this series in 2 days!!! I am in awe over these books and I can't wait for the final book to be released! The Oath Saga is a wild ride that was a true pleasure to take. Only a gifted writer (or writers in this case) can make you both LOVE and HATE a character at the same time. I found that happening many times while reading this story. I highly recommend this to any and all readers looking for the "One". You know what I mean...the ONE book/series/author that you just "get". Look no further!
Loved this!!!! Truly can't wait for the next book.
I liked the plot, romance and fight in these books it is the best books top ever read with the supernatural powers, wolfs and elders and the love triangles between thee teens. It was fantomanal !!!! It makers you think she loves them all which in the and she truly does now I just want this 4th one like yesterday. I started reading these books on a Thursday with the first book and now here it is Tuesday and I've done read all 3 these were so addicting it was unreal. So I read all 3 books in 5 days I can cry cause I want the next one. Oh well it I'll b out soon I hope.
If anything I felt like there was too much packed into this book, lots of different characters, fighting lots of different factions, elaborate trial, parallel worlds. Would like to see it slow down a bit and go back to core relationships for the next book.
Just when you think the end is near she draws you in more. I'm now eager to get the next book and excited too because I thought this was the last one of the series. I highly recommend reading this series. Great for all ages.
This book made me cry ugly tears... Ignoring the small editing errors, this is a wonderful story of love and family. I absolutely cannot wait for the conclusion!
