Devlin O’Mara’s world has been turned upside down time and time again since she first came across a vampire. And it’s not over yet. The vampires may have left her small town alone for a while, but they’ve provoked curfews and martial law in the capital city. The aftermath of their last attacks are still rippling outward, and it soon becomes clear that Emily’s sire is gathering an army. Even though her personal life has fallen apart, Devlin can’t let the vampires win, no matter how much they hurt the people she loves. Death is everywhere, and the only way to win is through joining forces with unusual allies. One final battle is coming. But who will survive?
I gave this book a rating of four because I liked it a lot but there was an big error, which was Mags from Jack's vampire hunting group in Book 2 was called Mary in this book. And that didn't make any sense to me to have her name changed to something else. When it came to the big battle there was a lot of surprises for me but my favorite part of the book was at the end. It was the last words that Devlin said to her boyfriend Base. I recommend this book to anyone that loves vampires.
Could not even finish this one because Base is such an abusive little shit and it's meant as desirable relationship behaviour. This has irked me in book 2 but I had hoped he'd be dumped spectacularily in book 3.
I enjoyed all 3 books. A lot of times by the 3rd in a series the story tends to peter out a bit, but I think this was as good, maybe even better, than the 1st!! Kinda wish there were more in the series.
I just finished reading the last book of this series! If you enjoy reading about vampires, people who don't believe in vampires, and the fights that end up killing them, then these books are for you!!
Inconsistent reactions. Devlin's constant thinking that she is responsible for everything gets tiresome and annoying. Other citizens refusal to acknowledge what they have seen is confusing
Kinda lacking in the finishing it up department. Left so much unanswered and yet it was written nicely, brought shock and awe in a few spots. Not my favorite but not a wasted read either.
This conclusion was epic to say the least, but I do have one criticism... I'd read several books (about 50) between books two and three, so I needed a little refresher. That refresher never came, and I had to rely on tiny hints and my memory to clue me in on character's physical features, etc.. The alternative use of "Base" and "Brian" had me thoroughly confused for two chapters, and I literally thought she was talking about two sperate men. As you can see here in this short excerpt from chapter 13, the flip flopping of his name is excessive and utterly confusing throughout: "Franco urged Brian out of the way so he could help Callum with the unconscious man instead. That left me free to help Base."
That being said, the characters are older, wiser, a bit more jaded, and 100% more badass! The vamps have a vendetta and Devlin isn't taking their crap lying down. Dev's relationships with pretty much everyone is much stronger, which makes the stakes all the more higher. I loved how the action is always unexpected, and beautifully choreographed. And found it interesting how some of the best dialogue comes from a character that you've just met, really helps you get to know them. I feel like things could've been handled better with the whole reporter angle, and the "final story", it just wasn't really "wrapped up", but I suppose that's splitting hairs. Heart-pounding, tear-jerking, gut- wrenching action from start to finish!
Now we're talking! Where the last two books lacked momentum and action, this one has all that. The first two books didn't accumulate a lot of stars, 3 and 3,5, but this book on the other hand, has taken a major jump up the scale.
You know when you start reading a book, and you get that feeling where you just have to read a little longer before you put it down? The last two books (again) didn't have that. To put it short: they were slow. Very slow.
Dev is still evolving, and all the questions left from "Make You" still stands. Will Base join the hunters? When will "the Big Bad" turn up? Who will live, and who will die?
This is a well executed book, my only regret being that the end felt a little rushed. That said: if you can get through the first two books, this one is well worth your time. I loved the Ava Delaney series, and in this book the author presents some of the same writing skills as she did back then (I haven't gotten aroung to read "Lost souls" yet, but I will!).
Right now it's actually sad to see the story ends. Now, when it finally turned out to be so well written! Anyways, three books is enough for the storyline, so I guess it's a good thing she didn't try to squeeze out another one, just to keep it going. :)
I really enjoyed this series, what I really like the most was that the characters didn't have no special gift or any kind of superpowers, their were just normal people who learn how to fight the evil vampires...In many ways I felt in love with Devlin and Base and Callum and Maisy and the rest of the possy..Even thou I felt that the story line was a bit rush, but I still recommend it...
