An evolution is coming

One man's dream will be forced on to the world. Unless another can prevent a global conspiracy.

On the hunt to explain the disappearance of his childhood friend, journalist Jacob Miller discovers a shocking atrocity. He suspects Dr. Gray, a radical scientist, of experimenting with human clones in a covert Alaskan research facility.

Unable to convince the police of the threat, Jacob infiltrates the facility to find proof. To his horror, he discovers world-changing plans that go far beyond cloning. Now he’s on the run, the target of the very organization he needs to expose. The danger grows as he gets closer to the core of a conspiracy that reaches deep inside the U.S. government.

Armed with little more than his investigative skills and a will to survive, Jacob must risk everything to stop THE SEQUENCE. Failure will see his friend’s fate remain a mystery, the loss of many lives, and the fall of the U.S. to a terrorist attack, the likes of which have never been seen before.

I subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and read a lot of Sci-Fi. I found this one as a recommendation from another author that I follow.

This story is an interesting one that starts out following a conspiracy theorist who is determined to prove himself correct. Jacob works a deal with a security guard to gain access to a research facility to find the proof that its CEO/Lead Researched made his friend ‘disappear’. Jacob manages to download some files, takes a pic, and almost gets discovered before getting out of the facility.

The work follows a nice ramp up from there of goons out to recover the stolen data, double crossing executives, and the unlikely hero Jacob surviving an increasingly unlikely series of events. The usual bad guy of the NSA gets involved, turns out to be involved, and makes Jacob’s life even worse.

Without giving it away, I found the ending to be a bit predicable and the reasons for keeping Jacob in the next book rather week. I think the story could have been kept going in other ways with Jacob still in a central role.
This is a good work and worth the current dollar cost to read and definitely worth the download on Kindle Unlimited. I’ll happily read the next installment but I don’t find myself awaiting it with the enthusiasm of some of the other authors I follow.

I managed to finish

Overall, I was unimpressed with this book. I am usually a big fan of the genre but the writing style, editing character development and flow left me flat. It kind of seemed like it was written by a teenager or something. If I hadn't paid for it I probably , would have dropped it a third of the way in. I was surprised to see so many other titles available from the author to be honest.

I did not read enough to merit a rating.
I have become increasingly less pardoning with books: If I find myself not drawn in, I just put it aside and pick up one of the many others that are vying for my attention.

Sequence had my attention from the start and I struggled to put the book down so I ended up reading it over a couple days. If you like an action packed book this one is for you.

Stated out a little rickety, then took a high dive into suspense. Keeps the reader wondering what's next, then delivers a twist and a wow. This book was won through a contest offered by Goodreads.
