As the most up-to-date, cutting-edge supply chain management book on the market, the Third Edition of Designing and Managing the Supply Chain discusses the problems, models and concepts derived from issues related to effective supply chain management. While many core supply chain management issues are interrelated, the authors have tried to make each chapter as self-contained as possible so that the reader can refer directly to chapters covering topics of interest. Each chapter utilizes case studies and numerous examples. Mathematical and technical sections can be skipped without loss of continuity. Most textbooks do not include models and decision support systems robust enough for industry, but that is not true of this new edition. The accompanying CD-ROM also features the return of two simulations, the Computerized Beer Game and the Risk Pool Game and a computerized tool. These simulations help users develop and execute supply chain contracts while also illustrating many of the concepts discussed in the text.
This book about Supply Chain Management gives a good overview about SCM. I was forced to read it for school and hated it in the beginning but as soon as you get used to the special terms it gets a bit easier to read. Although it's still difficult.
Although this more than 20 years old, I still found it extremely useful specially understanding the core concepts of supply chain. Definitely a must read for the supply chain enthusiasts, regardless of their backgrounds.
The case studies are pretty much helpful, it's got some technical hypothesis and practices calculations and procedures, its an overall great book for introducing the reader to the supply chain, though its got little to offer about logistics systems, the inventory and procurement branches are really really helpful
Includes lots of real-life examples, but it is not an easy book to read even if it is practically-focused (vs theoretical). I'd like to know if a more introductory text is available on this subject.
The book indeed covers advanced topics about supply chain management. It's really helpful and elaborate. The case studies are helpful too. I should re-read this book again whenever needed.
