Jack and Julia #2

Keep Dancing

Rate this book
Julia is a young book editor on the rise. Jack is a British rock star at the pinnacle of his fame.
Can they both get what they want—when what they need threatens to tear them apart?
It’s January, 1982. Twenty-four-year-old Julia Nash has just moved in with her boyfriend, rock and roll guitarist extraordinaire Jack Kipling. Their connection deepens as Jack takes her to England to meet his intimidating mother, and afterwards to a private Caribbean island for a sensual retreat.
But back in New York City, they hit a turbulent patch. Julia is in the running for a new job, while Jack prepares for a thirty-city tour and butts heads with the band’s lead singer. Things get more chaotic when Jack’s six-year-old nephew comes for a visit, Julia makes a disastrous attempt at cooking, and a new puppy wreaks havoc in the penthouse. Although free-spirited Jack likes to keep things loose, he craves more support on the home front. But Julia isn’t sure if she can ever be a domestic goddess—or if her wild boyfriend can ever be domesticated.
On tour, Julia experiences the glittering excesses of private jets, mind-blowing concerts, shocking hotel room antics, and screaming headlines. Back home, she has to decide if their relationship can withstand the ravages of fame and conflicting interests—not to mention a suave bestselling author who seems to like more than her grammar sense. And when her long-lost father resurfaces, the bookish young woman must choose whether to listen to her heart, or to her head.
Hilarious, entertaining and steamy, Keep Dancing will delight brand-new readers as a stand-alone novel, and serves up even more of what fans raved about in Come Dancing, the first book about Jack and Julia.

Leslie Wells has edited forty-eight New York Times bestsellers in her over thirty-year career, including thirteen number one New York Times bestsellers. She has worked with numerous internationally known authors, musicians, actors, actresses, television and radio personalities, athletes, and coaches. She lives on Long Island, New York.

More about me:
Growing up in my small town in Virginia, I always had my nose stuck in a book. I devoured everything on my parents’ bookshelves and pillaged our local library. In college, I double majored in English and Music (classical, piano). When I was a senior, my advisor suggested I apply to graduate school in New York City, and then afterwards, maybe I could think about going into book publishing.

Publishing! The minute he said that, it was as if a light bulb exploded over my head. My Master’s at Columbia only took a year, and then I landed my first job as an editorial assistant. The hours were long, you had to do all the editing on nights and weekends, and the pay was abysmal—but I was getting paid to read! Eventually I became a Senior Editor, and later, an Executive Editor. I worked at three publishing houses over two decades, after which I started my own business. Editing is my day job, and I still love it.

I began writing Come Dancing in 2009, on the thirtieth anniversary of my arrival in Manhattan. I wanted to describe what it was like in the years 1979-1981, when the city was still rough along the edges. And when nightclubs like the Palladium, the Roxy, Danceteria, and the Mudd Club attracted a huge mix of people from many different strata of society.

Back then, you could go out dancing and run into just about anyone: actors, politicians, rock musicians. Celebrities weren’t surrounded by bodyguards; the assumption was that if you were allowed into a club, you were cool. No one was going to harass anybody; after all, this was downtown. And there were no cell phones back then. People didn’t walk around with a camera in their pockets 24/7—so if you were famous, you didn’t have to worry about being photographed every time you turned around. That made for a much more open atmosphere, where regular people rubbed shoulders with the glitterati as everyone cut loose on the dance floor.

I also wanted to write about book publishing before the advent of e-readers and computers, when we were all lugging home 400-page manuscripts every night. As with the music biz, the changes have been seismic. Over the years, many people have asked me what editorial meetings are really like—so I’ve included some of those in my novel.

I hope you’ll enjoy Come Dancing!

Thank you,
Leslie

It is a pleasure to read and review Keep Dancing by Leslie Wells. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When all is said and done, I apologize to Leslie Wells and Book Junkie Promotions for the lateness of my review. Although the circumstances were unavoidable, I know it makes a huge difference to you. I hope you will forgive my tardiness and I hope it was worth the wait!

Keep Dancing is the second book in the Jack and Julia Series written by Leslie Wells. I didn't have the background from her first novel in the series, Come Dancing, when I read this book, but it didn't take me long to catch on the gist of what had happened between Jack and Julia. I might have missed out on some of the original details, but not enough to slow me down once I was able to read uninterrupted.

The characters in Keep Dancing are very endearing for the most part. They are realistically written and very believable. There are several characters that I even learned to dislike a great deal and I'm hoping there will be another book that will tie this all up with a red bow and give the creeps exactly what they deserve! I even fell in love with Muddy and wish them luck with a puppy of his size in New York City!

Keep Dancing isn't all about HEA. Jack and Julia, being very human, have their doubts, their insecurities and their love for each other. But you learn that love isn't always enough. A relationship takes communication and trust before love can be successful. There are lots of lessons in Keep Dancing that can be learned about what it takes and I applaud Leslie for being real in her writing and allowing her characters to be flawed, but working toward better!

Now, I'm going back to the beginning and finding out exactly what I may have missed, but never fear. Before I go I am highly recommending Keep Dancing by Leslie Wells and I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

I'm giving Leslie Wells and Keep Dancing five steaming hot cups of Room With Books coffee!!

The sequel to Come Dancing hits some high and low notes as Wells continues on her romance of the rock star and the publicist. Set in the 80s and dripping with the excesses this time period excelled at, Julia and Jack have reached a point in their relationship where the hard work begins. Julia is working towards her own stardom will Jack continues to play in the world that made him. As external forces do their best to force this unusual couple apart, Jack and Julia will need to decide if they should keep dancing or find new partners. Emotionally plump with laughter, love, and heartbreak; readers will reluctantly appreciate that Wells doesn’t take the easy route by allowing our lovers to sweep aside the problems in their relationship or with themselves. Character growth continues but seems to pull them apart as their inability to communicate still exists. We aren’t left feeling confident of this couple’s ability to whether the storm but I have a feeling that Well’s hasn’t given up just yet.

I loved this book. It perfectly continued Jack and Julia's story from Come Dancing. Julia struggles to make Jack understand that her career is important to her (despite him having been attracted to her because of that in the first place!) and Jack just wants a baby. They dance around their issues as Jack likes to walk out in the middle of a fight and Julia can't help but think the worst of him half the time.
Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a nice romance read. It keeps you on your toes and doesn't let "love is the answer" sweep all their problems under the rug.

It was a very quick read and after reading the first book, I knew what I was getting into but it just felt more predictable. I still liked the characters and the romance aspect but don't go in expecting a heavy read.

When last readers met with Jack and Julia in Leslie Wells’s Come Dancing they were deep in the throes of a rollercoaster love affair after misunderstandings and meddling enemies had threatened to tear them apart. In her new follow-up novel, Keep Dancing, the author takes readers back to the tumultuous world of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll in New York’s glittering 1980s. We follow Jack and Julia through the end of 1981, when the British rocker sweeps Julia away to England to meet his imposing family; but as 1982 dawns, new challenges and old adversaries once again test Jack and Julia’s relationship. British rock star Jack is set for a multi-city tour across the States while book editor Julia is on the rise at a fabulous new job, but as their newly-minted living situation seems to be paving the way for a lasting relationship, the stresses from both of their jobs will put them to the test. Add to the mix a screaming nephew, a screeching smoke detector, a wily puppy, and a penthouse full of praying mantises and Julia will find herself at wit’s end. Struggling to balance her career aspirations with her newly-domesticated home life, she’ll also have to face her uncertain trust as Jack flies off on a star-studded, drug-laden rock tour with his raucous bandmates and a raving horde of devoted groupies at their disposal.

Keep Dancing hits many of the same notes as Wells’s terrific first novel, with a full cast of charming characters, steamy romance, and writing that strikes as both humorous and poignant. While it could certainly be read as a standalone novel, Keep Dancing reads at its best following up the story of Jack and Julia’s first meeting. The duo get caught in some of the same dangerous webs this time around as high tempers and fragile trust threaten to derail their relationship, while Jack’s meddlesome manager Mary Jo and the band’s conniving lead singer Patrick both try to sabotage what Jack and Julia have built together. Through this novel, though, Jack and Julia have had a chance to grow through their past challenges. As a result, they’re both looking at their relationship – and Julia her career – with mature new eyes. Jack wants to start a family, a sentiment readers see brought to life through his devoted interactions with his sweet-but-destructive nephew Oliver; Julia, meanwhile, sees a glimmer of her own fame in the distance as she strives to take on a posh literary author in her new editing job. As Jack’s want of domestic bliss and Julia’s craving for career achievements draw tension between them, Wells once again allows her characters to grow through the ups and downs of their love for each other.

One of the highlights of the novel is Julia’s alternately fabulous and heartbreaking experience as she accompanies Jack and the band on a leg of their cross-country tour. In these scenes, Wells is able to fully utilize her skill for capturing all the opulence and scandal of the 1980s rock scene, complete with devious gossip headlines and outrageous backstage antics. The other members of Jack’s entourage – southern boy Sammy, unpredictable Mark, and Mark’s patience wife Suzanne – come to life with renewed vigor, entertaining the reader at every turn of the page.

Meanwhile, Wells turns from the glitz of the rock star life to more serious, heartfelt matters as Julia’s search for her father takes her into all manner of uncharted emotional territory. And for Julia, an altogether new feeling of vulnerability befalls her when her rocky relationship with Jack leaves her feeling particularly isolated from everything she thought she knew. With grace, humor, and sparkling imagination, Keep Dancing is a worthy second chapter in a smart new adult series.

This is the follow up to Jack and Julia’s story, Come Dancing #1. They pick up right where they left off, exclusively in a relationship and moving in together. Jack a big rock star and Julia trying to work hard to get where she wants to be as an editor.

Again I loved it was set in the 80’s. It was fun and suited this story really well. In this they are exclusive and really giving the relationship a go. Jack, being a big, well known rock star and Julia trying to get to the top in editing is difficult on their relationship sometimes and they have some fights over that but when they are together you can’t help but have a smile on your face, they are so sweet and sexy, too. Along with their professions, there is also pressure from friends, managers and to take another big step in their relationship, from eachother and from family. Julia and her mother’s relationship is still a big factor in this story also.

Julia, unfortunately was really difficult for me to like in this book. I tried, but I didn’t love her. At times she was just down right judgmental. I get why she has insecurities, but judging others because of it just took away from her character. She had a lot of concerns because of Jack’s lifestyle, so she was skeptical at times but that’s where she pissed me off a bit, she was bordering on doing what she was sure Jack was going to do. The one thing I did like was she wanted her independence, she may have liked the luxuries of Jack’s life that he spoiled her with but she still held on to her independence. She just lacked some personality at times.

“I’ve worked so hard to get this new position; I can’t let it slide through my hands.”

Jack, on the other hand, I loved! I’m not saying he was perfect, because he wasn’t. He is a rock star after all so he did get wild, and was known to throw a little tantrum when he wasn’t getting what he wanted. Saying that, though, he was so laid back and easy going. His playfulness made me smile and laugh so much. He had such a boyish charm that was cute and sweet and a nice comparison to his rock star side. He really proves himself in this one, not that he needed to, but I did fall harder for him in this one. He didn’t always deal with things in the best way but he sure did try his best with the circumstances of the things they faced.

“I’d take care of you, baby. You wouldn’t have to worry about supporting yourself.”

I did really enjoy this. At some stage they were going to have to compromise with their busy schedules. Things did, at one point get a bit too hectic. It was fun to see how that would play out. In this book, Jack’s band mate and manager become such nuisance’s, like really. I would’ve liked their behavior explained more. They were just nuisance’s without a purpose that caused trouble, time and time again, it wasn’t really solved. I did, However, enjoy how it ended, it was sweet. I think that could be the end for them, happily and easily. Yes, the author has left the door open for another book, for more to their story, but I enjoyed how it was wrapped up in this one. I’m not sure if there is another book planned for Jack and Julia, but I would definitely love a book from Sammy, he was a really interesting character that you love almost immediately and I would love to get to know his character more!

This sequel picks up about a month after Come Dancing. Narrator Julia spends a bit too much time in the beginning recapping the events of the last book, but soon enough she and Jack are off to England to visit his mum for Christmas.

This book covers a lot of ground: a tropical vacation, a visiting nephew, Julia’s new job, Jack’s nationwide tour, plus a few other plot threads later on. I admire Julia for not kicking back and letting Jack take care of her. It’s partly because she doesn’t believe her relationship will last, but mainly because she really wants to excel at her career. Jack, as always, is sweetly supportive of all the time she puts in at work, as long as long as she has time to put him in at home (sorry).

I felt like the comedy ramped up in this second book. Julia tries to cook, for one thing. There’s also a mishap with some praying mantises, and Julia accidentally eats some pot brownies. We also get more scenes of the band altogether. What do they do on tour, in between hookers and blow? (Not really hookers, these guys don’t have to pay.) They eat at crappy restaurants and play Scrabble! Plus they bicker and sabotage relationships. Rock stars are just like us.

Jack slowly becomes more of a man and less of a child. His initial reaction to conflict is to storm out and party all night, but Julia helps him realize that that doesn’t seem to solve problems. He also comes to terms with the fact that the world doesn’t revolve around him, and he won’t always get what he wants, when he wants it. Unless it’s sex with Julia.

Julia progresses in her career, but is irritatingly stupid about a certain author. I think she has career blindness, honestly. It leads to an almost cartoonish episode of her trying to be in two places at once, and I wanted to “Oh, honey, no” her so much. That led to a predictable Big Misunderstanding, and while my heart was breaking for her, I also wanted to smack her to make her open her eyes.

I feel like I should warn you about a sex scene.

I didn’t love the ending. Well, I loved the final bit, but not the crisis that led up to it. Luckily everything worked out, because this is a romance with a happy ending and not a cliffhanger. But I had a dislike.

Still, the usual cast of characters was there, the plot covered a lot of ground, and I enjoyed being in that world again. Lately I don’t read a lot of series with the same main characters, but I wouldn’t mind time-traveling back for a third time.

Keep Dancing by Leslie Wells is a sequel to Come Dancing (my review) and the continuation of Jack and Julia’s story. There is also a little Christmas novella called Dancing with Mistletoe which is really sweet too. I love this series because of Jack and Julia. They are hilarious as they wade their way through the ups and downs of a relationship. Add to the mix that Jack is a famous rock star and Julia just a tad insecure in their relationship and you have a recipe for disaster at times. Adding even more fuel to the fire is Julia, now on the rise at a publishing company, wanting to focus on her career while Jack may be looking for a bit more in terms of a family life. Yes, we’re talking some sparks flying!

Keep Dancing carries on right where Come Dancing ends so we’re still in the 1980’s when things were so much different. You couldn’t track down your mate by texting them or when your famous rock star boyfriend goes on tour you don’t have the option of catching him on Skype to make sure he’s behaving himself. No you just have to muddle through your worries and hope for the best. And when two people have the incredibly bad communication skills that Jack and Julia have, well then you know there is going to be trouble.

So briefly Keep Dancing finds twenty-four year old Julia finally making it in the publishing world and she’s never been more motivated to succeed than she is now. She’s living with Jack and things seem to be going fairly well although Julia still has issues with completely trusting Jack. How do you trust a man who constantly has women fawning over him? It’s even harder when Jack doesn’t always make it home when he should. Yet things are progressing … until they aren’t. Jack has a huge tour and Julia a new bestselling author that she can’t ignore. Jack is feeling neglected and Julia is feeling angry. All it takes is one night for everything to crumble.

I thought this book was a great follow up to the first one. You could read it on its own but I think you’d really be missing out by not seeing how Jack and Julia came to be in the first place. For me these books are an escape. I get to enter Jack and Julia’s not so perfect world at times and it’s so much fun. They both have great personalities and together they are sizzling which reminds me to let my readers that don’t like a lot of steamy sex in their books that they should steer clear. If you don’t mind though you’ll definitely be fanning yourself through this one! It’s a great series and I’m hoping there is still more to come from Jack and Julia. Highly recommended.

Shel: In book 1 of this series, I loved that it was something different than our norm. It was set in time that I recognized: the early 80's and it was full of references that I totally got. In Keep Dancing we pick up not too far after Come Dancing left off and explore the relationship of Julia and Jack. As you might suspect there are some challenges--Julia adjusting to living with a rock star, Jack adjusting to living with a career woman..and all sorts of things in between. Court: It was for sure a world that I was very excited to dive back into. I loved the characters of Jack and Julia so much in the first book, and was not disappointed by the two in this one. Jack and his British accent and sayings, and especially the time period give something delicious and special that I devoured during my gym time this week! Devoured!

Shel: Some of the reasons I enjoyed Come Dancing are the same reasons I enjoyed Keep Dancing--remembering life before social media and the age of the internet, imagining life as young woman in publishing, and the funny Brit-isms and behind the scenes things you'd like to think happen in a rocker's life. Additionally, we got a story of figuring out how you work when both of you love what you do and neither of you really want to sacrifice the job. We got to see these characters explore the idea of family and trust and love and hardship and how juggling all of those things can be hard and rewarding. Court: Keep Dancing like I said gave us all of the things that we loved in the first trip to the 80's, but I also enjoyed like Shel said us getting to expand on their relationship, and get to see Julia spread her wings a bit. Jack is a larger than life character, and it would be easy to just go on tour with a rock star and get swallowed up by that life style, but Julia definitely is not the type of girl to go down that road and lose herself to a man at all...which is why we and Jack both love her to death!

Shel: I'll be honest and say that the first part took me a little longer to connect with--it sometimes dragged a little for me; but as the novel progressed, the plot progressed and before I knew it I was at the end of Julia and Jack's story. If you're looking for something different than your typical alpha/rock star story, this would be a fun place to start. Court: It IS SO FUN! And I must admit that it was a little bit of adjustment to get back into since it had been a while, and I had to remember where we'd been...but it is explained in a refreshing way, and not obnoxious, so I fell back into life and love with these characters and wouldn't mind returning again!

This is one case where I am overly relieved to have book 2 available as I finished book one, Come Dancing. My heart was so invested in there two and needing to see if they could ever land on solid ground.

There is no rest for the wicked, and Jack and Julia, altruistic with feelings for each other, have many complications with making a relationship work. They have deepened their connection, but there are forces working to undermine the potential of their relationship. The difference in their ages and where they are in life is starting to show itself and as much as I wanted to love Jack, he was disappointing (Oh Jack, you should have stayed in the room). What Jack said and what Jack did were often two entirely different things. Not surprisingly the challenges of “Rock Stars”; drugs, groupies and all that drama coupled with poor choices, left them at odds. But they are both responsible for causing their own heartache (Julia, you should have stayed at the show).

There is no magic bullet to heal a broken heart and with issues of trust unresolved, it really looks like things are not going to work out. They seem to make the same mistakes multiple times as they have a hard time making each other priority and simply talking to each other. These two really do not know how to communicate and the HEA doesn't seem to be in the cards. As a romantic, I held onto to hope until the very end and you'll need to do the same.

This is a 5 star series and I recommend this as a wonderfully fun yet angsty read. I loved the chemistry between Jack and Julia and their crazy bad communication skills ( they didn't have cell phones after all). The break-ups were worth it if only just so they could make-up!

This book was amazing! I love the writing style of this author. The pace was perfect and it was easy to follow. I adored the main characters and the secondary characters were so fun. This story completely sucks you in and it's hard to put down.

I fell in love with Jack in Come Dancing and I fell in love with him even more in this book. Everything he said either had me laughing out loud or saying AWWWWWW! And who could resist a man that loves his women so much and badly wants a baby with her? Julia is very independent and needs to focus on her career. She loves Jack and knows she wants to be with him, but she is not ready to start a family yet.

This couple goes through SO MUCH. There are so many issues and misunderstandings that they have to get through to get their happy ending. Will they get it? Or will they let other people tear them apart?

This series had everything a good story needs: Romance, love, steamy love scenes, comedy, angst, drama, misunderstandings, jealousy, insecurities, rock stars, going on tour, family, cute kids, etc. Not once was I ever bored and I stayed up all night reading this. I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

Favorite quotes:

"I wanted to hold the warmth of that perfect moment—Jack cuddling Oliver, me about to get into bed next to him, the close family feeling; something I’d missed so much ever since I was fourteen—in my heart forever."

"Jack put his hands on my shoulders. 'I’d take care of you, baby. You wouldn’t have to worry about supporting yourself.'"

"Jack started kissing my neck. 'I couldn’t wait to put my pin in yo’ cushion,' he said in his deep blues voice. 'I’m going fishin’, baby, with my long long pole. Gonna throw in my line and sink it deep.'"

An amazing sequel! I fell in love with Jack and Julia in the first one and could not wait to see what antics they get into in Keep Dancing. Jack is going strong with his band and is mostly used to getting what he wants, when he wants. Julia is still young and wants to continue pursuing her career and be able to be independent. The biggest thing is that they want each other. They both have the constant struggle of trying to balance what they want with what the other wants also. They both have a lot of things to consider before they can commit to being with each other. One of the biggest issues is the trust and communication between the two of them. On top of their relationship they are dealing with groupies, bandmates and their own families. Julia’s father is brought into this novel at the perfect time. Now the question is...will they make it???

“I was still in a state of disbelief that I was living in sin with the sexiest British guitarist on the planet.”

“I could hear Jack playing something mournful. The plaintive notes lingered like the scent of burning leaves in an autumn breeze. He had stuck the guitar pick between his lips, and was strumming the strings with his fingers. I loved that intent look of his, as if the only thing in the world that existed were the sounds he was making . The only other time he got that look was in bed.”

“I feel the echo of you in my mind, long after you left me for the last time…”

I love the author’s writing style. Everything flows great, easy to read and follow, but hooks you in so you can’t put the book down. Keep Dancing has a little of everything. It makes you smile, laugh, sad, and you might even shed a tear. Definately a must read!

It was so nice to reconnect with Jack and Julia in "Keep Dancing." I also want to thank Leslie Wells for breaking my readers block. Lately I can't focus on a book and I've drifted from story to story but once I picked up "Keep Dancing" I was immediately sucked into Jack and Julia's world. I really like both Jack and Julie and I appreciated their struggles as a couple. In this book, Wells continues to show Jack and Julie's growth in their relationship. We also get an inside view of his family in England and his childhood but also Julia's. In this story Jack is determined to help her find her father
and Julia gets some closure on some of her childhood issues. Also, even thought Jack and Julia are a couple now there are still some grey areas that they have not figured out and Jack's lifestyle often makes Julia doubt his commitment to her. Like all relationships, there is room for them to grow and also to work out their miscommunication. I was happy to see Julia's work as an editor grow and that she was her own person despite her famous rocker boyfriend. It was also fun to see some of the situations in the 1980's i.e. no cell phone and the ever famous shoulder pads.

I really enjoyed this story and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a fun and light read with very interesting characters. Because Julia is still in her early 20's and Jack is eight years older they have to face some tough life choices and where their future will lead. I personally really liked how Wells wrapped up their story and felt satisfied with Jack and Julia's life and evolution.

Jack and Julia's relationship continues in Keep Dancing. It's the early 80's. Julia struggles with the battle of being an independent career woman and being Jack's girl. Jack struggles with the same dilemma. Julia has a relationship with her mom, but as expected kept secrets as to the events leading up to her father leaving and their divorce. There are things that you just don't tell teenagers.
There were many times I was confused while reading as the days and events run together with no separation on the pages. (ie: she's at work meeting and the next sentence she's with Jack on a different day) I kept having to re-read portions to make sure that I was in the same location as the characters in the story and it really affected the flow of the read negatively.
This was a difficult book for me to get through. While the story itself was good, and the characters actually grew a little - it was fairly predictable and didn't elicit any strong emotions from me. I found it lacking substance and originality.
There are many people who loved it, but it just didn't work for me.

This is a continuation of Jack and Julia's story, so you will need to have read Come Dancing first.

Keep Dancing continues on right where Come Dancing Ends, and while they are starting to make headway, Jack and Julia really do need to work on their communication skills if they are going to make things work!

I couldn't help get drawn into the 1980's sex-and-drugs-and rock and roll world our lovelies are caught up in. Success and excess seems to be all the rage.

I did feel for a while that their relationship kept going around in circles, neither of their characters growing. It was all trust issues and hot sex for a little bit of the book.

There were some laugh out loud moments, some sad moments, some what the heck were they thinking moments in Keep Dancing. There were a couple of characters I would like to know more about, and there were a couple that I wanted to high five... in the face.... with a brick.

Overall, a good sequel to Jack and Julia's story. 3.75 stars

Loved this! This book is the continuation of Jack and Julia from Come Dancing. This picks up right were the first one left off. Jack and his band mates are getting ready for a big tour and Julia is trying to get a promotion in the publishing company she works for. She is also trying to deal with her parents past divorce and her insecurities of infidelity. Julia knows she loves Jack and wants to trust him on the road alone but is having a hard time. Jack wants Julia to go on tour with him. He has his nephew Ollie come for a visit and realizes he would like kids soon. Do they finally get the happy ending they want or do outside forces tear them apart forever? If you have read the first part of this story then you need to read the second. Thank you Leslie for such a great story! I love Julia and Jack!

I was given this book in exchange for a honest review. I didn't read the first book in the Jack and Julia series, but I was able to follow as if the book was a stand alone novel. I don't know if that would have helped or hurt this review. This book was hard to really get into as it seems the storyline wasn't really going anywhere. He's a rock star and she's an editor. Okay....... so he has money and she has problems. I'm not sure why the book was set in the era of the 80's, either. It was nice to reminisce about hair bands and life before the internet, but other than that, nothing really drew me in. Honestly, if I wasn't given the book for review, I wouldn't have probably finished reading it. Now, maybe if I had read the first book first, my opinion would be different, but it was really hard to get into.

I adored Come Dancing, the first book in this series. Keep Dancing is a little disappointing: all fluff, no stuff.....

We almost pick up where the book ended. Jack and his little boy gang entourage are still messing around. Julia has finally gone after what she wants, and suceeded. However, this sucess has torn her as she is beginning to grow up while Jack's still playing around.

This book should seriously only get 2 1/2 stars, but I can't do that. It's reliance of the sexual chemistry and jealousy storylines are getting a bit ....old

Rather disappointing sophmore try....won't be going for the junior prom with this author.

* Received free signed copy of the author from GoodReads. The fairy tale of the international rock star falling for the intellectual publishing house editor continues. He strives to hit the top billboard forty while she reaches to have a project hit number one on Times book list. Their careers and life styles take them in different direction. Fun quick read. Wish there were more descriptors of the 80's club scene and less of the steamy bedroom. There is an authenticity in describing the young editor's role, as the author herself has a very similar background as Leslie, grad school in NYC and then a publishing house in the early 80's.

this was a fantastic follow up to Come Dancing I fell in love with Jack and Julia even more through their tribulations their ups and downs love is what made them stay together I love how the author makes Julia a real and has the insecurities that every girl has but add a famous rock star on top of that and those insecurities become more I think the offer did a great job at portraying these emotions without making Julia look like a wuss Jack he is exactly what I would picture a British rock or from the eighty's to be like four key and crazy and fun and I love it I cannot wait to see if there's more from this story

I do love Julia and Jack but they definitely need to improve their communication skills! Jack, stop being so self absorbed. Julia, try and get a bit of balance in your life.

I didn't like Jack's family. Annoying and their accent needs sorting out. I hate reading books where the British accent has been butchered. It can almost become a parody of itself.

That aside, I am a fan of these books though and hope there is more to come. I would even like the secondary characters to get their own books. There are some interesting stories to be told. More please.

Continuation from "Come Dancing" this book is set around 1982 and it is crazy to wrap my mind around all the advances in technology and everything else from that era to now. Great insight into the world of musicians in the 80's. Even without all the social media the press can be hard on a relationship. Jack is a very cool British rocker, Julia a book editor grew up feeling rejected so she is still having a hard time seeing her worth to him. Fun read.

I can't say I didn't like this, because I did like some of it. This was not a case of characters not needing another book, I thought these characters had some interesting growth in this book, but I was just bored by anything that didn't have to do with them. Anyway, I trudged through this to see what would happen, but I skipped a ton of it to get to any of the good stuff.

Very good.

I was gifted this book for an honest review which I am pleased to do. I am not the type who reads a lot of romance, it really had to catch my attention which it did. Since this was book 2 I will go back and read bk1 and everything else written by this author.

They Made It...

Jack and Julia made it. Of course there are ups and downs, (why not? Jack is a bad boy rock star). Jack tried to clean up his act. He really did. I am also happy Julia reconnected with her dad. So it is all good...

8/18/24: Re-read. I didn’t like this as much as the first one but the end is sweet. I still think Jack Kipling = Keith Richards.
