Fifteen years ago, Lila Parks was a bright, eager student at Havenport University—handpicked and mentored by the legendary Professor Ralston.
Lila believed in Ralston’s message. She trusted her. Worshipped her.
Then, everything fell apart.
Behind the curtain of Ralston’s carefully crafted illusion, the truth was impossible to Lila’s mentor built her empire on deception and betrayal.
Today, the world sees Althea Ralston as a legend. Lila only sees the lie.
When an invitation to celebrate Ralston’s lifetime of achievement calls Lila back to Havenport, she knows she shouldn’t go. But this might be her only chance to confront the woman who destroyed her.
Surrounded by thousands of Ralston’s adoring fans and the ghosts of her past at Addison Hall, Lila begins to dig for proof of what she learned back then, of the monsters buried beneath that perfect smile. What she uncovers is darker—and far more sinister—than she ever expected.
To expose Ralston for what she truly is, Lila finds herself in a downward spiral of paranoia and suspicion, desperately searching for the key to toppling Ralston’s meticulous house of cards. But with every wrong turn, she finds herself closer to crumbling her own world instead.
Set against a gothic campus cloaked in ivy and secrets, this chilling, slow-burn suspense from two-million-copy bestselling author Kiersten Modglin explores the blurred line between manipulation and brilliance—and what it costs to finally speak the truth.

A binge-watching expert, psychology fanatic, and indoor enthusiast, Kiersten enjoys rainy days spent with her favorite people and evenings with her nose in a book.
I went into this book blind because it's K. Mod and if she writes it, I'm going to read it. However, I'm left a little bit disappointed 😞. I don't feel like anything ever happened, and normally she keeps me pulled and on the the edge of my seat from the beginning. This was just a struggle to finish for me.
"Some legacies aren't meant to be loud. They're only meant to last"
I love how Kiersten is exploring so many different topics and navigating through different types of thriller/suspense themes.
I feel like everyone can take something from this. Sadly, some more than others. We've all experienced some version of a Ralston. If you haven't, consider yourself fortunate.
I can appreciate how Lila navigates through her emotions. It can be so easy to be reactionary. Sometimes, though, you have to be methodical. Few things are more infuriating than being made to look like the crazy one because of your reactions in the moment.
There are crappy people in this world but they don't get to define you.
Erased By Kiersten Modglin Narrated by Julie Webster
Talk about psychologically thrilling! Kiersten Modglin had me from the first chapter of this slow building tale of crime and pain. Lila is on a mission. Taken advantage of by her professor, she is determined to bring Althea Ralston down. Now to find others who are willing to help her. Ralston's reach is large, so this is a task that may not be able to be accomplished. Will Lila be able to show Ralston's true colors? Will anyone care after all the good this woman has done for others? Will anyone be there to help Lila? I love a book that keeps me guessing and makes me thing. Modglin always delivers great stories, but there is something special about this one. It could be the slow building suspense. It could be not getting instant gratification I craved, but I think it was the flow of the story and the fabulous characters I loved and loved to hate. Fantastic listen.
Julie Webster narrates the story and she brings each and every character alive. This is packed with many different personalities, each with their own back story and Webster pulls it all together and finds the perfect voice to portray each one. She builds the suspense and then lets it explode! I loved her narration, she was the perfect choice for this one!
“Silence grows like mold in these halls—patient and destructive.”
This sentence hit me like a ton of bricks. It’s so true.
I don’t want to say too much and give anything away but if you take the time to read between the lines…..this will hit deeper than “just a thriller book.”
My advice to anyone struggling. Always tell at least one person your truth, it may not stop the mold from festering but it will give you the strength to battle the spores.
I have read all KMod's books but Erased is by far my favorite to date. Such a different edge to it. Thought provoking with a message to all. Would totally recommend
I have read all 52 of Kiersten Modglin's books and I will read everything she writes...forever! Erased isn't her usual thriller style book and this is important to know going in. This one is an important message for anyone who has ever felt erased. If you have ever felt silenced or had your voice belittled or stolen, read this book. It is beautifully written with such a powerfulf message. But it is not a thriller!
So many layers to peel in this newest KM novel. In the heart of the politics of academia sets a protégé with so much promise. Until she realized her work was plagiarized by her own mentor.
Fifteen years later, Lila Parks received an invitation to her estranged mentor Professor Ralston’s Lifetime Achievement awarding ceremony. This ignited her interest to expose Ralston of her decades long betrayal. Why not? Because she’s stuck with a dead-end job and no published book to her name. She’s sure she got blacklisted by publishers by who else? — Dr. Ralston.
I’m all for Lila plotting to put her former mentor to justice. Until she realized this is so much bigger than Ralston.
When i saw a new KMod book I was definitely down for it. This was not her "normal " thriller at all...it was so much more. This book needed to be written. This book needs to be read. Almost 40 years ago I was erased (almost permanently). I found my voice with a little help from my tribe. I am obnoxiously loud now; I roar! So many of us have been erased; there are loads of different types. Do you feel unheard? KMod hears you, I hear you, I believe you. Now go read this book and let's hear you Roar!!
Lila Parks was once a student at Havenport University, where she was chosen and mentored by the well-known Professor Althea Ralston. Lila never questioned her intentions and always thought highly of Ralston, until things started to fall apart and she began to see a completely different side of her. Now, fifteen years later, Ralston is still seen as a respected figure, but Lila only remembers what really happened. When she’s invited back to campus for a celebration in Ralston’s honor, she knows she probably shouldn’t go, but it feels like her only chance to finally confront her. As she looks back into the past, she starts to uncover things that are even worse than she remembered, and it slowly begins to take a toll on Lila.
Rating 2 ⭐ I usually rate KMod’s books higher because her writing has that fun element of twists and turns that keep me hooked from start to finish, but this one didn’t feel like her usual style, which was honestly disappointing. I kept waiting for the story to pick up, but it never really did, and it didn’t feel like there was much of a thriller element. I honestly only kept reading because I was hoping for a twist to shake things up and because I was already halfway through. If you’ve been wanting to try one of her books, I’d start with something else, like her Arrangement series. Not for me!
Kiersten is one of my favorite authors. I own and read all her books as well as follow her online. I knew coming into this it would not be her normal thriller. However, in normal Kiersten fashion, I couldn't put this down.
This book was agonizing, powerful, and cathartic in the best way possible. Knowing that Kiersten was going through a very rough time in her life while she wrote this, really helped me connect to Lila's pain in a way I might otherwise not have. My heart kept breaking in pieces, just waiting to be picked up again.
Every word Kiersten wrote feels like strength and resilience and bravery for whatever she was going through personally - as well as Lila and those at Havenport and anyone else who has ever felt Erased.
Kiersten, thank you for sharing this powerful book (and all your books) with the world.
“Each of us was a wick, and she was the flame. And when she was done with us, she blew us out.”
Welcome back to your past college campus, welcome back to pathways and buildings that made you think your future was so bright. Welcome back to all the memories, good and bad. Lila receives an email that Havenport will be honoring her prior professor Althea Ralston This is the woman who has made Lila the worst version of herself, so she decides to attend the celebration, hoping to finally be heard. Secrets, lies, revenge, past and present all collide this weekend, but who will be left standing? i’ve recently discovered this author , and after reading her last three books, she has made her way to the top of my TBR list, when a new book comes out it’s immediately added to cart!
Kmod thank you for this book. Thank you for seeing women and making sure we are seen and heard. I was captivated and intrigued. And it reminded me I have a voice and it matters. Thank you
Ugh! KMod is my girl. She writes and I read it, the week it comes out. This was so slow for me. I forced myself to finish it. The concept is dope, but just did nothing for me.
Erased by Kiersten Modglin This is very different from what readers have come to expect from KMod. If you’re looking for an edge-of-your-seat, twist-you-never-see-coming intensity, you won’t find it with this book.
This book is a different side to Kiersten. Erased is much more emotionally driven. There are moral and ethical dilemmas, questions that will sit heavily in your soul.
This book was clearly cathartic to Modglin, which leaps from the pages, and if you have followed her journey online, you’ll know she overcame a lot in 2025. So this is her Everest. She’s earned that.
Simone Bell was, in my opinion, the strongest character. While she was a side character, her warmth, strength, and wisdom were radiant. She was the thing everyone wanted, and Ralston believed she was.
I loved how open the struggle with winning and losing, and success and failure was. It felt very honest. It was so intriguing to see characters presented with ethical dilemmas and forced to choose between option 1 and option 2, though both options may have both positive and negative elements.
There was a very real human element to this story, and it felt extremely personal. And I think this story was very personal to Kiersten. So she nailed it. I enjoyed the setting and the dark side of professionalism.
This book holds a lot of truth, but also asks many questions. In true KMod form, the writing is strong. The characters are relatable, and the words will pull you in.

Erased by Kiersten Modglin is easily one of her most thought provoking and unsettling reads and that is exactly why it works so well.
This is not your typical fast paced twist every five pages KMod thriller. It is darker slower and far more psychological. The tension builds like a storm you can see coming but cannot outrun. The gothic campus setting the layered past between Lila and Ralston and the constant sense that something is off make it impossible to look away.
What really stood out to me especially reading this as a man is how deeply this story explores power manipulation and identity in spaces that are often seen as safe or even untouchable. It shows that even in a world led by strong brilliant women corruption and moral gray areas still exist. No one is perfect and this book does not try to pretend otherwise.
Lila’s internal struggle is just as gripping as the external mystery. You feel her paranoia her obsession and her desperation to prove the truth even when it starts to cost her everything. And Ralston is the kind of character you cannot quite pin down which makes her all the more chilling.
I honestly think a lot of readers are missing the deeper message here. This is not just about exposing a villain it is about what it costs to stand on your morals when the truth is not convenient clean or even fully clear.
If you go into this expecting a standard thriller you might miss it. But if you are willing to sit in the discomfort and really absorb what it is saying Erased is powerful haunting and absolutely worth the read.
From the Library of Sarah Ashley: #18 Erased by Kiersten Modglin Happy release week! 🎉
Okay, let’s talk about this one… because I have thoughts. First of all, the FMC? Ma’am. I tried. I really did. But she irritated my soul on a spiritual level. There is truly nothing more exhausting than a bitter, scorned woman who decides to channel all her energy into revenge… 15 YEARS LATER. Like?? We couldn’t circle back to this in, I don’t know, year one?? Don’t get me wrong… plagiarism is bad. We all agree. Gold star for morals. ⭐ But the level of obsession here felt like holding onto a grudge so long it becomes a personality trait. At some point, I just wanted to gently suggest therapy. What really got me was the timing. You waited over a decade, and then chose the exact week dedicated to celebrating your enemy’s success to strike? The commitment is impressive, but also deeply confusing. The long game was played… but was it worth it? 🤔 As for the story itself… very straightforward. No twists, no jaw-dropping moments, no “OMG I need to text someone about this” scenes. Just… vibes. And not even chaotic ones. I bounced back and forth between a 2⭐ and 3⭐ rating, but ultimately landed on 2 stars. I did finish it (shoutout to it being under 300 pages 🙌), but overall it felt predictable and extremely boring. Would I recommend it? If you enjoy a slow-burn revenge plot with minimal surprises, maybe. If you’re here for twists and emotional chaos… this might not be your book. #BookReview #Erased #KierstenModglin #Bookstagram #ReadersOfFacebook #ThrillerReads #BookishThoughts #HonestReview #TwoStarReads #ReadingCommunity #libraryofsarahashley #NoShelfControl #NSC
Erased by Kiersten Modglin was definitely a different take from her usual thrillers—but I really enjoyed it.
This one leans more into psychological manipulation, and I found that aspect really interesting. It explores how even women can be groomed by other women, and how easy it is to get pulled into someone’s influence when you admire them. Watching that unravel was both unsettling and thought-provoking.
I also liked how it showed how quickly you can lose yourself when you fall too deep into someone else’s world. That emotional and psychological element added a lot of depth beyond just the typical twists.
Overall, this was a slower, more character-driven story compared to her usual fast-paced thrillers, but still very impactful and worth the read—especially if you like stories about manipulation and identity.
Kiersten Modglin builds dread slowly and skillfully — this is psychological suspense at its most atmospheric, and the campus setting feels genuinely menacing.
Julie Webster is perfectly cast. She captures Lila’s controlled exterior while letting the cracks show underneath, and her portrayal of the charming, dangerous Professor Ralston hums with quiet menace. The pacing mirrors the story — deliberate and coiled — so if you prefer a faster-moving thriller, be warned. But if you lean into it, the payoff is worth every slow, suffocating chapter.
Think Verity meets campus noir. A great late-night listen.
Erased is an experience you’ll love and not want to end. This one is different from her others, but in the best way. I was feeling all the feelings right there with Lila, all the paranoia, confusion, and self doubt throughout. I really admire the way it highlights why it’s worth it to speak up about your truth, even if you stand alone. Your voice is a powerful weapon. Also the way it brings light to powerful people in a corrupt system, and the people who allow it to continue, was wonderfully done. I love the deeper meaning this book holds within its pages as well. Such a thoughtful and powerful story. I loved it so much!!
Kiersten Modglin has done it again and gave us gold! Obviously not a surprise though if you’ve read her other books. Erased was absolutely phenomenal. I’m just glad I read on my phone and don’t have a physical copy or this book would have been destroyed with the amount of times I wanted to throw my phone from anger. She definitely knew how to play the emotions with this one. That’s just one of the million reasons why she’s so brilliant. The wait for this book was absolutely worth it and you need to read Erased! Enjoy Havenport!
Honestly, I went into this blind, because when you follow someone so closely, and trust in their work, you just read what they put out there. For me, this was book number 52 that I have read from Kiersten, and once again, I was not let down.
A detour from her regular genre, but a detour absolutely worth taking.
This book was just nothing like any of her other books. I love Kiersten so I’ll continue to read her books but I couldn’t make myself even finish this one 🥱🫤😬
I have read all of Kiersten's books. I absolutely love her writing and style. However, this book and her last were my least favorites. I love her for her plot twists and suspense and thrill. These last two books weren't it for me. I pushed through because they are Kiersten's books but I love her thrillers more. This book wasn't bad, just not the genre/subject matter that I read.

An email pulls Lila back to Havenport with unsettling news: her former professor, Althea Ralston, is being celebrated. The same woman Lila believes turned her into someone she no longer recognizes. This time, she returns with a purpose, to confront the past and force the truth into the light.
This was a gripping, slow-burn suspense that pulled me in immediately and refused to let go. An iconic professor at the forefront of a feminist movement… yet something about her never quite feels right. There’s a quiet, unsettling tension woven throughout the story that keeps you constantly on edge.
Lila’s perspective was especially compelling. Her return to Havenport was heavy, emotional, and just a little unhinged—in the best way. Watching her spiral into paranoia and doubt had me like: 👉 is she losing it… 👉 or is everyone else in some cult-level delusion??
Because tell me WHY I kept questioning my own sanity right along with her 😭
Althea Ralston is a fascinating contrast. Her polished, controlled public image clashes sharply with the underlying sense that there’s more beneath the surface. The tension between her and Lila is layered, complex, and drives the story forward with a steady intensity.
🎙️ Narration: Julie Webster elevated the entire experience. She balanced restraint with intensity, allowing the tension to build naturally rather than forcing it. The pacing, tone, and emotional nuance all worked together to heighten the unsettling atmosphere, making it easy to stay fully immersed from start to finish.
Overall, this was a dark, twisty, and atmospheric listen that keeps you questioning what’s real and who can be trusted.
This was such a gripping, slow-burn suspense that completely pulled me in from the start. The premise alone—an iconic professor hiding something dark beneath a carefully curated legacy—had me hooked, and it absolutely delivered on that eerie, unsettling atmosphere. The gothic campus setting added so much to the story, making everything feel tense, claustrophobic, and layered with secrets waiting to unravel.
Lila’s perspective was especially compelling. Her return to Havenport and the emotional weight she carried from the past felt raw and believable. Watching her spiral deeper into doubt, paranoia, and determination kept me turning the pages. I loved how the story blurred the lines between truth and manipulation—you’re constantly questioning what’s real and who can be trusted.
Althea Ralston was a fascinating character. The way her public persona contrasted with the hints of something much darker underneath made her both captivating and unsettling. The dynamic between her and Lila was intense and filled with unresolved tension that drove the story forward.
Julie Webster’s narration truly elevated the experience. She captured the emotional nuances of Lila’s unraveling perfectly and added an extra layer of tension to the story. Her performance made it even easier to get lost in the suspense and atmosphere.
The pacing is definitely a slow burn, which worked for the most part, though there were moments where it felt slightly drawn out. Still, the payoff and the chilling reveals made it worth the wait.
Overall, this was a dark, twisty, and atmospheric read that kept me guessing. If you enjoy psychological suspense with morally complex characters and a haunting academic setting, this one is definitely worth picking up.
There's so much I want to say about this one, but to avoid spoilers, I'll leave it at this: Witty, suspenseful, and utterly gripping, Erased is both highly relatable and unlike any story I've read before. We're pulled into the perspective of Lila, a woman scorned. She returns to her university surrounded by a devoted, unquestioning, and deeply loyal fanbase of the legendary Professor Ralston, a celebrated and charismatic icon who appears to serve the greater good. While Lila's purpose there is not immediately known, it's clear that those who love Ralston cling to their beliefs about her much like the ivy clings to the walls of the deliciously dark academic setting. That same ivy, curated to evoke prestige, enshrouds the campus in mystery, while growing beyond reach and hiding what lies behind it. Modglin does the same, offering peeks at the truth of this story with impeccable timing, allowing the reader their own experience. This poignant story offers a thoughtful, much-needed exploration of fan culture, the devastating, frustrating, life-altering consequences often associated with proximity to unchecked power, and the courage that comes through vulnerability and connection. I couldn't put it down, and I can't recommend it enough.
Kiersten Modglin’s Erased is a book that carries an important and often overlooked message, and for that alone it deserves recognition. The premise has real emotional weight, and there are moments where the story hints at something powerful and deeply impactful. Modglin clearly set out to explore themes that don’t always get the attention they deserve, and that effort shows.
That said, the execution didn’t quite live up to the potential. While the subject matter is compelling, the pacing felt slow and uneventful. I kept waiting for the story to build momentum or deliver a moment that would truly grip me, but it never fully got there. Instead of being an edge-of-your-seat experience, the narrative remained fairly flat throughout.
The characters and emotional core had promise, but they weren’t developed in a way that made their journeys feel urgent or immersive. By the end, I was left feeling like something was missing—like the story had all the right pieces but never quite assembled them into something memorable.
Overall, Erased is a meaningful concept that doesn’t fully translate into a compelling read. It’s not without value, but it ultimately falls short of the impact it could have had.
