Let me start by saying that I love the fact that the story is told from the POV of the Alpha (Derek), Beta (Nathan) and Omega (Caleb). For me it provides a level of insight that was needed to make the story whole.

Derek and Nathan have been friends their entire lives and Nathan supported Derek in overthrowing the previous pack leader. Now all Derek wants is to be a good pack leader, maintain the tenuous peace with the other packs and possibly find a she-wolf to bond with and raise a family. They discover Caleb when he inadvertently wanders into their territory after being exiled with is son from the Yesterfront pack.

Without giving too many spoilers this is a story of two individuals learning to accept who/what they are and the feelings that develop between them. The way that Derek interacted with Matthew was perfect and definitely helped move the story. It was also great that the story provided a way to have the unspoken trust questions between Derek and Caleb answered. It was fascinating to read how they learned to interact with each other and created a relationship without realizing it. They listened to each other and to their hearts.

I absolutely adored Matthew!

I also appreciate that a complete description of the Hawkthorn and Yesterfront packs and the history was explained in the beginning of the story. It helped to not have different elements popping up unexpectedly throughout the story.

I received an ARC of the story in exchange for an honest review.

Derek and Caleb

This is an A/B/O in a world where there is shifting, and there are different roles for all members in packs based on which pack the wolves are a part of...

Exiled with his son, Caleb finds himself being offered shelter by Derek and his pack mates...

Unfortunately, this leads to many events that take us on a mix of high and low moments... But, with the adorable Matthew, whose Caleb's son, along for the ride... There can only he HEA for his Dada and Papa...

Two words: most neediest.

Those two words actually appear beside each other in this book.

No, I'm serious.

"..."feeling his body react in the most neediest, desperate way possible."

That just pissed me off, ya know? Especially since it came on top of a story with no meat whatsoever. There's just a bunch of stuff happening with no real impetus, and I couldn't really bring myself to care. Some saccharine sweetness, some completely uninspired and boring romance... And then, the most cliched ending of all cliched endings; the good guy squares off against the bad guy and wins, but doesn't kill the bad guy.

What the hell was the point of this?

Nice Alpha rescues an omega story with a little heat.

Overall, a short, quick omega-in-distress-rescued by Alpha Charming fairy tale with adult payoffs at the end. A nice if short and sweet introduction to a world of paranormal pack politics surrounding straight forward but sympathetic characters.

"That's the nice thing about having a family, isn't it? They'll always be there for you tomorrow, the day after that, and onwards forever."

Libro cortito, pero con una historia bien bonita. No había leído shapeshifters como estos, con comunidades establecidas y viviendo casi como lobos. Es un buen cambio.

It was a good story! I really liked it. Matthew was so adorable!
It was a little rushed and flat at times. We don't get to know the characters really and it all happened super fast. But still I enjoyed it a lot and can't wait for the next with maybe more cute pups?? :D

The exiled omega

A wonderful read. Well thought out and put together. Derek and Caleb make the prefect couple. Even with a little drama thrown into the mix.

Achei o livro arrastado, o Caleb é um personagem meio sem graça, porém eu gosto bastante do Derek e as interações dele com o Matthew são muito fofas!

Honestly, it is just your average typical gay alpha omega romance. No real surprises, nothing to write home about. But if you like these kinds of stories, and I sure do, then it is decent reading to pass the time and scratch that alpha omega itch.

I wasn't sure how to rate this. The writing was good, and it's clear the author has talent. However, the world building just threw me off, and I could never get into the story.

This is a shifter book, about a male omega who, with his young son, is exiled from his pack. He's found and rescued by a neighboring pack and slowly falls in love with their Alpha ,Derek.

I say this is a shifter book, but .. really it isn't. It's a wolf book. The "shifters" in this world live as wolves. They sleep in caves, eat what they hunt, breed in a hierarchy, pen all the pups together, etc etc. On one hand, I applaud the author for taking a chance and making the animal side of a shifter the more dominate.... But, I needed more humanity to balance it out, tossing in tidbits about trading books with humans and human wooing, just doesn't cut it.

It just felt like the human side was only in the story for the sex scenes, instead of being an intrinsic side of each shifter.

the plot and the length were exactly what I was looking for and over all, it was enjoyable though I'm confused when it comes to the specific era/time this story is set in and there were too many factors that aided my confusion.
another thing I didn't care for was the many povs.
the last thing I'm criticizing is the warning before something happens it's like a spoiler for the next chapter; "little did he know that blah blah..." but other than that it was good and easy to read but as always I only specify what I disliked :)

Sweet but not saccharine. I loved how we get to see an alpha who's not all stereotypical and growly but loving and strong instead. The romance (and it is a romance) between Caleb and Derek is very satisfy. For those who despise the insta-love/fated mates this should be very appealing. Sexually this satisfies but is not particularly steamy. I was a little disappointed there but that is just my naughty side coming out. I admit I had a few misty-eyed moments especially when adorable little Matthew came into play. This functions as a standalone but puts you much in the mood for the next book.

An abused omega and his son are exiled from his pack by his alpha lover, his son's dad. They're taken in by the neighboring alpha, who is attracted to both the man and the boy as the family he's always wanted but hasn't had time for. The omega is leery, the alpha takes it damn slow, and the old lover decides if he can't have lover, then no other alpha can either. Of course this has a sweet HEA.

I've read this author before and his other stories have been sweet and short. This new story was longer, and it had more conflict and plot. I really liked it it was new and refreshing, the wolves live like wolves on their own territory and they have no communication with the humans, so the time of the book is really not known. You don't know if the live in the 21st century or in the 18th century it's refreshing.

It was Derek took his time with a skittish Caleb. I liked that they got to know each other and that Derek was so accepting of the a child that wasn't of his own blood (and was actually the son of the enemy of pack). Caleb's backstory intrigued me but at the same time for me it made him a bit less likable. The fight between Derek and Yesterfront alpha was okay but I felt a little gypped since it wasn't exactly given all in detail.

I liked this and I didn't like this. I wasn't sure about the world building of these type of werewolves…like, were they just hanging out naked when they shifted back to human in the cave? That's what kinda threw me off. And I know it was sent in present day, but then things made me think it was just…primitive. I think this has/had potential, but things left me a bit confused with the world building.

I had a hard time rating this book. It's not 'bad', but it definitely could be better. The characters were good, but could be more complete. The world was kind of weird to me - they live in caves and dens, eat raw food like wolves, but interact as humans.
Since book 2 is available through Kindle Unlimited, I will check it out, but overall, this won't go down as a memorable read.

edit: I just downloaded book 2 and it's only 39 pages. That's practically a bonus chapter, not a book!

Chang Community Chang GIF - Chang Community Chang Its So Boring GIFs

I skimmed through to 55% before deciding to stop. The story was filled with mundane activities and endless dull conversations. There was no romance in sight, and the characters were barely described. They were just as uninteresting as the plot. I’m officially out.

Time to find a book that actually holds my interest!

Gay shifter stories are a dime a dozen but this one had a few original elements. An outcast with a child is taken in, and he solves the Alpha's problem of not having a mate. The writing was a bit simplistic, but not excessively so. Verb tenses were sometimes incorrect: welcome was repeatedly written as welcomed, loss was lost, and lay was lied.

Nice book. I loved that there was a build up to their love. I was a little weird with the third POV but quickly got over that and came to appreciate it. I’m also glad that neither she wolves made issues for the mc’s. The writing was good the smexy was yum and the side character were nice

Just cant' get into this one. Maybe it's the author's writing style. Read all the Werewolf shorts before starting this book. Think I'm walking away from it. Might try again some other time but right now, just not enjoying the read.

Once again a great book by Alex Ashmore. I have read most of author’s books and this one doesn’t disappoint. This story is about the Hawkthorn’s pack Alpha finding his mate from a rivals pack. The love story between the two is captivating. Look forward to more books from this author.

Had originally decided to quit this author, but saw several decent reviews so I gave it a try. Even a hundred and seventy-one pages it still felt a little rushed in some parts, but the author's writing a storytelling abilities are definitely improving. It was worth the read.

You know the only thing keeping me from giving this book 5 stars is the fact that it wasn't longer. WTF? That's a stupid reason. I'm giving this thing what it deserves.

Good Start To A New Series

I liked this book. I like that he made this one longer than the other ones. There is violence and sexual content. There is a dada, papa and a little boy who you learn to love. The characters are well developed in this book.
