Knot the Match: A Cozy MMMMF Omegaverse Romance

Rate this book
Low drama, high spice, and lots of cute moments. A perfect afternoon read.

My dad’s horse racing bets weren't my mess to fix, but I’m the one who had to pay for them. After a few weeks in a nightmare, I finally saw a chance and I ran. I ended up in the tiny town of Willowside with only the clothes on my back and a desperate need for a phone.

I found the Lucky Road Bar and three Jethro, Ross, and Caleb. They’re protective, super attentive, and scent-matched to me in a way that breaks all the rules.

The only problem? They already have an Omega.

Willowside Omegaverse is an interconnected Cozy and Spicy Why Choose Omegaverse Standalone Romance series. Each book features an omega woman and her alpha harem.

Unfortunately (as the story begins), Sandra has gotten a really bad deal with being forced to cover her dad's mess, among a few other issues. Who can blame her for bolting from that situation and taking a bit of control of what's left of her life? She ends up at a bar, desperate for a little assistance. She finds three Alphas (Jethro, Ross, and Caleb). They're very caring and protective.

Quick Summary: I wanted to enjoy it but unfortunately this book had not one but multiple problems between inconsistencies, timeline, lacking description, plot holes, and character attachment like getting to really know the guys. If you want the breakdown please continue on below.

I wanted to like this one but unfortunately there was a lot of problems I came across throughout the story.

First when she meets the guys by walking into the bar she has NOT provided her name or introduction. But yet the MMC Jethro knows her name during his internal thought? Did I even know her name yet without having the chapter headers?

Inconsistencies. There were a good number of these throughout the story that I just couldn't ignore. Also wording that could have made things much clearer.

Within 15 pages I was already needing more information.

"Often, they don't claim each other. Sometimes Omegas take medication to help heal the marks. I don't want these healed. If they close, they'll just serve as a permanent reminder of what I've endured."

This was not enough information for me.

There were repeats to close together. Page 32 we are told about how they don't need rumors to start because of 2 Omega's in a pack when in the same chapter we've already been told this. It happens again with Jethro's POV stating that the guys are all bi, it's mentioned once and then brought up again in a VERY similar way that was not necessary so close together.

Page 35 it's mentioned that she was gone for 3 weeks and marked 2 weeks ago. But Monica not long later on says she was gone for 2 weeks on Page 30 and the start of the book was 3 weeks.

Feeling the baby kicking. The first thing we learn about this is she's 2 weeks pregnant. And then two months have passed and she's feeling the baby kick? That's..... not accurate. She would be 8 weeks pregnant around 6-8 weeks is when most people especially first-time mom's find out they are pregnant (she had a blood test done) and babies kick between like 14-26 weeks anything before that would be described as gas feeling. Then the FMC is 6 months pregnant the rest of the time is how it felt. It mentions multiple times through out chapters that she is 6 months pregnant and then at her appointment she is 26 weeks pregnant (according to google that is approximately 6 months). The number of times six-month baby bump is mentioned becomes ridiculous for me at this point. I'm not sure how much knowledge or research was put into this or to make sure the timelines worked out. This is something I easily noticed and bugged me throughout the story.

Okay the smut. The spice...... While just going with the flow it seems pleasant but unfortunately, I cannot make things line up! A scene I had trouble with for example is when the Omega male partner takes her to the nest and he's spooning her while they have their fun time. So, you believe this as to being on their sides and him behind her.... But then you get...

"She reaches down between our bodies, finding her swollen cl_t." How does she reach between their bodies to get to her lady parts when that would be going behind herself and in front of him and going a really weird route and having a very long arm? She would just be reaching down her own front to get to her lady parts. But then a page later we get

"...wrapping my arms around her waist to pull her back flush against my chest."

This to me makes me think the scenes were either not well thought out or wasn't really envisioned as to what is going on and where people are in a scene. It just doesn't make sense to me.

The guys "rented out the bar" when I thought they owned it? I would think they just close the bar that day and invite people. This I find it at least fairly minor for me in comparison to other things.

This book could do with a lot more description. The start of the book we don't know when it is. Just that the guys work night shift and are sleeping, so it's day time/morning. I can assume it's February as in April she is 2 months pregnant, then 6 months in July but I am have to guess at this. The timeline isn't really given as to how it was outside when she escaped the house.

The author briefly describes a character we honestly don't see again and get her name like once maybe twice but then doesn't describe character such as Ruby who was pregnant, the first person she met entering the bar, and see's again at the end of the book with the baby. We wouldn't have even known who Ruby was as her name was never given to us until the next chapter and she still wasn't introduced either as it was from Jethro's POV and he just has his internal thought of the bar being closed for Ruby's baby shower.

My last big gripe when it comes to the smut though is when Jethro finally participates. He's scared to hurt her or the baby. Okay, that makes sense. That's common. But the scene....... I can't envision or piece together what happened.

"The golden-haired Omega moves closer, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind to offer his own support." This makes me think that she is on her side. But then we get a page later...

"I don't need to be told twice. I crawl forward, settling between Sandra's bent knees. I push the hem of her oversized sweater up, exposing the tight stretched skin of her bump." This makes it seem like she's on her back? Her being on her side and him being between her legs is kind of hard if her leg isn't up in the air and there's no mention of him holding her leg up as he's moving up her sweatshirt. But that isn't all of it.

"I position myself between them, dropping my head to take Sandra in my mouth." What? Where is he right now? Like I get it's down south and all but at the same time this is hard to imagine if she's on her side.

"He leans over, catching Sandra's parted lips and pulling her into a deep, messy kiss to muffle their shared sounds." Okay so Oli is BESIDE her. But is Jethro between THESE TWO for the THEM or is he between THEM being her thighs?

"But I look at Sandra's beautiful, round stomach resting against the pillows." Is she still on her side? I've assumed she was on her back at this point honestly. But a page later we get another "He guides Sandra until she is lying comfortable on her left side." So, she wasn't on her side?

I thought the dynamics between the pack were sweet yes, but at the same time there wasn't enough here. I feel like I barely know the guys. I can't confirm they own the bar, I can't confirm their jobs, how she has the money for opening a whole new shelter as she's the director (did her job build it and give her the position?) and this happened in Chapter 14 but we honestly don't really get much mention about her own job, what was happening, how this even came to be. The book is lacking a lot of information, and the premise and some things behind it I can enjoy I don't feel this was executed well and could use some going back and revisiting and beta readers to get it feeling more complete.

Content Warning, review references human trafficking, sexual assault, lack of justice

Knot the Match is a hard review to write, despite this being what I think is a good book. The beginning and first half of the book are not comfortable to read, but this is ultimately a story of healing, which is a painful and messy process after what Sandra has been through. Below I’ll write more about the triggers nested in spoiler space so that you can (hopefully easily) avoid spoilers if these triggers are not something you need more details about to decide whether to read.

Knot the Match is well written, and begins just before the moment where Knot the Play ended. However, while this is an interconnected series, you do not need to have read the previous books in the series to understand anything in this book. There are a handful of editing or formatting errors, but only one that makes the sentence a little confusing.

Although Sandra is an adult who has been out of her father’s home for around 10 years, when he cannot pay his gambling debt, he offers up his omega daughter as payment, and the mafia don he owes the money to accepts. The book begins with Sandra ruminating on her abduction and captivity before enacting her plan to escape, and the first chapter contains descriptions of the men and the environment she escapes from, as well as descriptions of injuries. Alpha “rut” and non-consensual acts are referenced. By the end of the first chapter, Sandra has reached her scent-matched pack… and their omega.

The alphas and their omega immediately take Sandra under their protection, they are sensitive to what she has gone through, and make sure that she feels safe with them right from the beginning. Something I really enjoyed in this book was the development of the relationship between Sandra and Oli, the pack’s bonded omega. The second half of the book includes various vignettes of Sandra with each of the men in the pack individually, becoming friends as well as lovers. Although this book contains heavy themes, it is in part because of this that the HEA feels not just earned, but fought for.

Overall, I recommend this book provided that the content is not something that would affect your mental health.

From Broken to Beloved

I’ve really enjoyed the Willowside Omegaverse series so far, and this was a wonderful addition to this cozy world. I love Omegaverse stories that have both a male and female omega.

Sandra is an omega whose father sells her to the mafia to use however they see fit. After being ravaged and repeatedly force-bonded with two brutal men, she finally saves herself and escapes. Her journey leads her to the cozy small town of Willowside, where she meets an alpha and his pack. There’s just one catch; they already have an omega and are happy.

Jethro is an ex-military alpha who serves as the strong backbone of the pack. He’s determined, dedicated, and fiercely protective of the people he loves. Ross is the gentle alpha who naturally nurtures and comforts those around him. Caleb is the intelligent and analytical alpha who uses his mind to help improve the lives of omegas everywhere. And then there’s Oli, the male omega who brings balance and warmth to this group of headstrong alphas.

It’s a scent match from the very first moment, and the pack of four men immediately knows they want to protect and care for Sandra. Though she arrives in their lives by accident, Sandra ultimately chooses to tie herself to this incredible group. My heart broke for everything she endured; I felt so sad and angry on her behalf. I loved seeing her finally find safety, love, and belonging. It was also beautiful to watch her fulfill a long-held wish for the pack and to see just how deeply they cherish both her and Oli.

I can’t wait to see what Sara writes next, because her stories always capture my attention and pull me right in.

Knot the Match has the unusual setup of a pack that already has one omega considering adding a second when they save Sandra from abusive alphas and realize she’s another scent match to them. But what will that do to their pack structure—and is Sandra truly safe from danger?

I thought this book had a relatively unique setup for omegaverse: a heroine physically suffering from mating bites that she’s rejecting. And I liked the idea that mating with her true mates would be the way to eradicate that problem. So the mating is only the start of the bond for this pack, not the culmination of a courtship.

I wish the pack members were a bit more delineated—I didn’t really understand what jobs, if any, most of them have. I didn’t get how Sandra could move her job to her new pack’s town when she was pretty much remaining in hiding. And Sandra’s first mates are supposed to be a mafioso’s second and third in command, but they come across as basic enforcers throughout the book.

But I love the way Vincent writes omegaverse, and this one was solidly enjoyable.

“I will break every bone in your hands, and I will make sure neither of you ever walks again. Do you understand me? I won’t kill you, but you’ll want to die after I’m done with you. Move on.”

“I’m walking into a syndicate warehouse.” I turn around to face him. “I’m keeping my sidearm. If you want to try and take it from me, go ahead.”

The story, new twist on mating bonds and pregnancy in this universe were really intruiging. It’s a quick and cozy read despite the fmc having escaped from a very dark situation (off-page).

I found the new take on pregnancies intriguing (in this, it's rare, but in the instance wherein the pregnant person mates with their 'true' scent match after say a forced situation, then the new Alpha's DNA can/will overtake the original biological father's DNA as an evolutionary standpoint.) Also enjoyed the rejected mating bond (an omega can reject an Alpha's claiming bite especially if it is forced, it's unpleasant but happens).

Omega Sandra was sold to the mafia for her fathers debts. Abused the runs after 2 weeks. Winding up in the fictional town of Willowside. There she finds her scent matched pack and is pregnant from her abuse.

This book feels really shallow. I dont feel character development in any of the MCs and feel like you dont get much insight into the other MMCs other then Jethro. This one just dosent hit it for me. Its not too bad.

I did have some added giggles in a way. I live in the city that some of the drama is based in. Not the fictional town but the real one. And a few things are fairly not realistic for this city so it felt a bit funny. Its just ok for me. Didnt hit as good as I wanted it to.

Another excellent Sara Vincent book! This book has it all, suspense, good story, good character development, lots of spice, and happy ending. I really loved the characters and the love they shared, especially the two omegas. Having the pack already have a male omega added a little extra spice to the sexy scenes, in my opinion. I jumped into this series in the 4th book, which didn't hurt anything but only made me want to read the other stories to learn about some of the side characters in the book and learn more about the town. Overall, very good book!.

Sandra had a rough upbringing and worked really hard to turn her life around and make something of herself. Just when things are seemingly on track, her horrible father sold her to pay for his debts. When she’s able to, Sandra takes a huge risk and escapes her captors. She ends up in Willowside and runs into a bar to try to get help. She doesn’t expect to find her scent matches, but there’s one small problem…they already have an omega. All the guys are super sweet to Sandra in helping her to feel safe and comfortable. Loved the spice and seeing what her guys would do to keep Sandra safe. Loved it!!!
