He reminds me of the men who grace the walls of stores where my daughter shops. Men with rippling abs and sinewy ropes of muscles. Men intended for younger women.
I never expected him to notice me. Imagine my surprise when he cornered me in the locker room, pressed his incredible body against mine, and forced me to acknowledge a desire more powerful than anything I’d experienced before.
Now that he has introduced me to the pleasures of being dominated, he wants to possess me completely. But how can I risk my heart, when I know his affection will never last?
A former psychologist, Normandie has always been fascinated by human behavior. She loves writing quirky characters that are all too human. “I’m interested in the kind of relationships people have in real life. So I write about my characters’ messy, unpredictable, and inexplicable journeys to love.”
If there were another 5 hours in the day, Normandie would spend more time needle-pointing and playing with photography. Instead, she’s a Pinterest addict and sports junkie who’s crazy for Twitter and the color pink. She lives with a passel of children, her hunky husband, and a pet pig who loves Red Bull.
After years in a boring, loveless marriage, Violet Weeks is now ready to meet someone new. She sets eyes on Stuart Swearingen, a man who is loaded, gorgeous, and knows exactly what he wants in a woman.
Will Violet’s hang-ups about being ten years older than Stuart end their relationship before it even starts?
If you’re looking for a romance full of sexual discovery, heat, and a little kink, this may be the perfect short story for you.
Though the story was entertaining and sexy, I was annoyed with Violet’s preoccupation with her age and what her peers thought. She was fit, attractive, and desired by a younger man. It’s not as if he was her child’s age.
As grandma would say, “never look a gift horse in the mouth.”
There were lots of steamy sex scenes and while I mostly enjoyed Violet’s and Stuart’s encounters, I found them pretty tame. I liked Violet’s teenage daughter, Margaret. (Does anyone really name their kids Margaret anymore?)
I wanted moar kink!
I had to go and read a porny Powerone story just to finish off what this one started.
From the beginning this book just didn't grab me. I thought the storyline moved too quickly and there wasn't nearly enough development of the relationship between the two characters for my liking.
Review for Taken by the Tycoon by Normandie Alleman
Taken by the Tycoon is a super hot novella by Normandie Alleman that includes BDSM elements. One thing I really love about this book is that it’s got an older woman and a younger man. You see the older man/younger woman scenario quite often, but rarely the other way. Very refreshing.
Violet is recently divorced and has a bit of a self-esteem issue. Having her marriage fizzle out left her feeling unattractive and lacking as a woman. She has thrown herself into her charity that provides music instruments for underprivileged students.
Stuart is an oil tycoon. He inherited his families business and rules over it with a devil may care attitude. Stuart is a Dom who prefers his women experienced. And this dirty talking Dom has his eyes set on Violet.
“You need me to pound that little cunt of yours into submission, don’t you?”
Violet and Stuart have amazingly hot chemistry. I can’t even tell you how much I loved reading their banter. It was sweet how he constantly reassured Violet that he was with her because he liked her. My only issue was how often Violet let the age thing get in the way of her and his happiness. It left me a little turned off at times, but all in all it was a very satisfying read.
Three stars for the storyline and four drenched panties for super sexy BDSM fun.
Another great story by Normandie. The story was fun, light, and oh so sexy! Violet a recently divorced mother of a teen daughter has recently rediscovered herself again. Finding out that she is not some old dried out woman she starts feeling like her old self again. Then she sees Stuart. He is a handsome rich man. She finds she can't keep her eyes off of him. Her only problem is he is younger than her. Not wanting to be labeled a cougar she looks but nothing more. Then one day Stuart approaches her with a proposition. One that she never saw coming. They can have it all if Violet can get over her hang up about the age difference. A must read!
If you're looking for a quick read with some sexy, kinky fun then Taken by the Tycoon is the book for you. Normandie Alleman has done it again will a satisfying tale of domination and submission, this time with a fabulous forty-something heroine. Taken by the Tycoon is a lighthearted, easy to read novella that I absolutely loved.
Violet is divorced with a teenaged daughter, and is finally starting to live life for herself after an unhappy marriage that left her starved for love and affection. Stewart is a rich oil tycoon who's in his early thirties and he always been attracted to older women. He also likes to dominate his partners, and when he sees Violet at the country club he knows he wants her to be his submissive. Violet discovers that she loves to submit to Stewart, but she is embarrassed about the age gap and what everyone will think about their relationship.
This is a really hot book with amazingly steamy BDSM scenes. They are also really fun, imaginative and lighthearted - the billiards table scene was my personal favourite, it was so hot! The D/s relationship is mainly limited to the bedroom, elsewhere they are equal partners. Stewart is oh so hot, but also oh so sweet - he is determined to spoil Violet and is proud to have her on his arm. Violet is a fun, feisty woman who's enjoying her new life. Her inner thoughts were interesting and often humorous, and I loved her relationship with her daughter Margaret.
I really enjoyed this book, I love it when books feature older heroines, it makes a nice change from twenty somethings. Normandie Alleman is a talented writer with an easy to read writing style and I always seem to enjoy her books, a Taken by the Tycoon is no exception and gets five stars.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I was privileged to be the ARC of Taken by the Tycoon! I am a big fan of Normandie Alleman. The beginning of this novella was really interesting the dynamics between a mother Violet and her daughter and the introduction of the male character Stewart! The rest of the novel did not disappoint me. In every one of Normandie's novels asked us to look at a part of human nature. In this case we are asked to explore why can't older woman date a younger man without social commentary. The second question is what is behind the concept of a sub dominant relationship.
Here is where Normandie is a skilled expert. She has created two extremely interesting characters Violet and Stewart. Explaining violence apprehension about herself her self image and as the older woman asked each one of us the reader to explore our own concerns or issues.in the course of their story Violet becomes the woman she could be and should be because of herself and not just because of Stewart.Stewart on the other hand is the social Maverick who doesn't see boundaries or we can't go there because what he does is he lives his life yes he is Rich yes he may be able to stretch boundaries but in the end Stewart is very comfortable with himself.
The pace of this novel is grade and provides an insight into the human heart and Normandy Allen is one of the best at her craft and talent.
This is my first story from the author and what a great way to start! I actually listened to the story via audiobook (I love that format) and really enjoyed it.
Violet was not given much of a chance as Stuart makes his desires known to her. He wants her to be his submissive, but she has major hang-ups about her age, mainly what will people say about her since she will be the older woman in this relationship. She agrees with some reservation but figures they can continue if they keep it only to themselves and not let the outside world in on their little secret.
I really loved the story, I felt I could sympathize with the heroine, as she is a bit older and just the fact that I could date a younger man, makes me extremely nervous. I loved the way they spend their time getting to know each other, loved how he introduces her to the D/s lifestyle, loved how he took care of her, loved how we saw her emotions toward Stuart change and she comes to believe that maybe they could be a couple, but something always gets in the way…you’ll have to read the story to find what happens, will they or won’t they fight for each other?

When Violet's divorce becomes final, she finally starts living her life again. She had noticed Stuart at the country club prior when she was eating lunch with her daughter. After a tennis match with a friend, Violet is in the locker room changing. When Stuart comes up behind her and asks if she would be interested in becoming his submissive. She feels that she is too old for him. But he had peaked her curiosity. She decides that she will try it out, all she has to say is her safe word to get out.
As they spend more and more time together, she begins to have more and more feelings for him. When they are attending a function, an old biddy implies that he is only going out with her because his mother had passed away and was in need of a mother figure. This really upset Violet. She decides that they can no longer be together.
Can Stuart convince her that he truly cares for her or will they not be able to make it work?
This was a very sexy read. The story wasn't anything new, but that's fine. The trope of older newly single woman rediscovering her sexuality with a younger man is popular for a good reason. It's well done if unoriginal. The sex scenes were very hot and while I personally didn't like a couple of the aspects of the sex in the beginging, the later parts of the book were great. Once the relationship progressed beyond just sexual, I really liked Violet and Stewart as a couple and was happy with their HEA. There was very little character development for Stewart, however. He was mostly a vehicle for Violet's process of liberation from her cultural indoctrination. Even so, I like him because there were moments of true sweetness between him and Violet post sex. I'd recomend this story to anyone who likes their D/s erotica a bit on the softer, romantic side.
I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, which I have provided above.
After years of suppressing her sexuality because she was trapped in a loveless marriage Violet has finally decided it is time to explore again. Stuart has always been drawn to older women and when he sees Violet he knows he must have her. How to convince Violet this is a good idea is going to be his biggest obstacle. When he proposes to Violet for her to become his Sub she agrees though she has some reservations. Behind closed doors Violet has no problems being with Stuart it’s when he wants to take their relationship public that her insecurities surface. Will Stuart be able to get his naughty vixen to overcome her stereotypical fears? Or will Violet’s need to not be judged cost her to lose the only thing that has made her feel alive in a long time? This book will leave you begging for more.
Taken by the Tycoon took my breath away! It was refreshing to see an older woman with a younger man for a change. I was so happy for Violet's transformation and reawakening. It took a lot of courage to leave a loveless marriage and even more to redefine herself in her forties. I loved the fact that Violet was able to drop twenty pounds and relaunch her libido. It made me smile when she rocked out to Beyoncé in her car. And it was super hot when she engaged in sexting with Stuart. The Dom/sub play between her and the handsome oil Baron, was off the charts. I highly recommend this ultra romantic, sexy read.
I absolutely love when the female lead is a mature woman. A divorced woman in her 40s with a grown daughter is shocked that a younger (30s), gorgeous, fit and wealthy man would be attracted to her. She gets caught up in the social issues that some might expect with this scenario and it made a great story. The characters were believable, there was conflict, romance and just the right amount of steam. Our tycoon is a Dominant and Violet knows next to nothing about being a submissive. It was interesting hearing her internal dialogue as she struggled a bit with understanding her role and deciding if it was something she wanted to pursue.
Taken by the Tycoon is a real sizzler. Recently divorced Violet is stunned when the gorgeous and wealthy Stewart makes a play for her and worries about their age difference. But she's so attracted to him, she can't say no. But Stewart doesn't just want to take her to be. He wants her to play the role of his submissive. The sex scenes really deliver and even though I'm not a big BDSM fan, the sub/dom relationship stays mostly in the bedroom so it doesn't feel at all like Violet has no rights in the relationship. Stewart actually comes across as a very considerate partner. Don't miss it!
A sexy and easy read! There's been a stigma on older women dating younger men for ages and this story shows you why that stigma is wrong. The characters are great with one another and are exactly what the other needs. Violet is a mature mother of a teen who has gone through a divorce. Stuart is a wealthy man in his prime, thirty-three, and very much interested in Violet. The story is relatively short but shows just how important it is to have an incredible connection with someone no matter the age difference.
With all the recent attention to dominance and submission for twenty-somethings, it’s nice to see an author tackle BDSM for heroines over 40. Let’s face it women’s sexuality blossoms as they mature, and a younger man with incredible stamina would be a good match for an older woman, at least on paper. Alleman certainly makes it work for this couple as their exploits steam up the page and sometimes make us giggle. If you like your romance with a side of kink this one’s for you.
I am a huge fan of Normandie Alleman's books, and this book was a great read as well. I loved the Stewart, as he was a very determined hero. I found Violet hard to love however. Her hype with the age difference become annoying after a bit, but I was happy to see Stewart take it all in stride and push her to see that it really wasn't an issue. I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advanced reader copy.
Another fine book by Normandie Alleman. One of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much was because it was about a middle aged woman and a younger man. The characters were all believable and the dialog among them well written. There was romance, some elements of BDSM and amazing sensual erotic sex. The main character Violet had a difficult time accepting that she was beautiful and that a younger man was attracted to her and desired her. This was a marvelous read.
Wonderfully written story! Violet is a true to life character, that I could empathize with, I really could see myself feeling and thinking as she was. As she met and began her relationship with Stuart. Taken by the Tycoon, is a smart, quick, sexy December-May romance that resonates with a sexy appeal.loved it :)
Normandie Alleman has done it again! I really enjoyed this fast paced story featuring the sexy, powerful and rich Stuart. The age difference between Violet and Stuart may not have been much, but the barrier it created in Violet's mind was fun to watch her get through. Thanks for another awesome story Normandie!
This was fantastic! I loved that Violet was older than Stewart and her daughter's reaction was priceless :) Very nice, steamy romance here and so much fun to read! Great plot, lots of detail and characters that were believable. Very nicely done! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.
Single mom and recently divorced Violet gets an offer she can´t refuse when the young, hot Stewart gets his sights on her. He wants her, and won´t take no for an answer. Could Violet trust and submit this man, and believe that he wants her? Quick read, smutty fluff and submission.
A sexy fast paced read that I couldn’t put down. Violet is shocked to realize this young sexy guy could be attracted to her. Stewart wants more than just to date her, he wants to own her. The story is entertaining and yes very sexy is HOT HOT HOT. A great read!
An older woman, a young man whose body entices her, who is dominating and perhaps dangerous. That's all you need to know,e xcept that this book is for adults.
cute short story. The sex scenes were really good in this one i enjoyed them. I also really enjoyed stuart in this book. He was calm and understanding which was great to read.
This was an interesting book. It was the first time I had read one with a more mature female lead. I enjoyed it immensely. I will definitely keep an eye out for this author.
The female MC is older than the male MC and she is afraid of what her friends think. It gets a little silly at one point when she compares herself to his mother (she's not that old!).
Probably the best thing about this is that I listened to it and the narration was quite good. I'm pretty picky about female narrator voices but Alicyn Aimes does a great job and has a very nice voice to listen to.
This one had been on my TBL (to be listened to) list for quite a while. It wasn't a bad way to spend an evening. My hubby and I listened to it together and he enjoyed it, too (probably more than I did - LOL).
This is a quick steamy listen. Violet is an older woman, and Stuart prefers older women. The story held my interest, and at times, I did not want to get out of my car (where I listen to my audiobooks). The characters kept my interest as they learned about themselves and what they really wanted. I recommend this story.
I received a copy of this audiobook free, and this is my unsolicited review.
Um. Terrible. The writing was clunky, the dialogue felt awkward. I couldn’t relate to the characters at all. It felt more like a Jackie Collins or Danielle Steel novel, full of judgement, gossip and vacuous people.
