We finally finished this book! It only took forever. But that last time the little guy was actually very interested in the circles and checked them each out repeatedly. There's no story here, just a clever series of different types of circles and groups of circles and objects they form or can be found in, like a balloon, a camera, a bunch of grapes.

Today is March 14, so we had to celebrate Pi Day!

This preschool storytime was all about circles, so this book was perfect. We had fun guessing which objects each color circle was going to reveal, and we added some more ideas of our own. I only wish I had a giant version of this book so folks in the back could see better!

Pi Day Storytime extension activity: Building our own pies with Play Doh in mini pie tins, then eating actual apple and cherry pie!

Die-cut circular shapes reveal all sorts of objects, including an apple, candy, wheels, even a button or a ladybug. By simply varying the colors or the sizes of the circles, the author/illustrator stretches readers' imaginations and enhances their visual literacy skills. This is a very useful book to introduce the concepts of colors and shapes. I loved the last page, painted purple, and its companion with six small circles.

A clever design concept for a board book. Bright die cut shapes introduce colors and shapes seen all around. This would be a fun baby gift!
