I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.

I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.

I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.

Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.

I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.

I was surprised at how much I liked this considering this is number 16 (!) in the Chatsfield series. Thankfully the author stays focused on the H/h and there was no need to figure out how these characters were connected to any others in the series.

H/h have a history. They were lovers ten years before when the heroine was 18 and he was 22. He was her first. She was one of many for him. But their month-long relationship was the longest he had ever been in - before or since. They meet again in a dramatic boardroom meeting when the heroine's stepmother gives the hero her shares in the hotel and the hero is now the heroine's boss.

There's some nice angst and intensity as the heroine chafes from the unfairness of this decision. She had been running the hotel since her teens, living in a suite of rooms with her cat (a long-haired Persian called Atticus). The hero doesn't make things easier by glibly chalking it up to "it's just business" and why can't you get over the past?

Heroine pretends she has a boyfriend by making a date with a stranger on an online dating website, but the stranger never shows. Hero watches her get drunk at the hotel bar and then takes her back to his room. In a bizarre scene, she comes on to him like a prostitute because that was the way he treated her and all women.

Hero sends her to her suite and tries to get their relationship back on better footing the next day. Eventually the hero realizes how much he hurt the heroine ten years before. Seems two of his friends made a bet that he could get the heroine in bed. The heroine heard about it, thinks he instigated it, and broke up with him. Hero can understand her bitterness - especially when she tells him that she was a virgin. Then he is really sorry.

Finally the second shoe drops, the hero spies the sonogram picture of their baby. Yup. The heroine was pregnant and miscarried at 4 months. She never told anyone about it until then. Hero is genuinely horrified at all the heroine had been through.

The hero also reveals he's not a Chatsfield by blood and that's why he has daddy issues and the need to win. They pick up their sexual relationship where they left off, but when the hero tells her he loves her, the heroine asks him to prove it by handing the stepmother's shares to her, making her the majority shareholder. This feels like blackmail to the hero so he says no.

Heroine leaves with Atticus to the Hamptons. She mopes around until the hero shows up with chocolates and a diamond ring. The hotel doesn't matter. Let's get married then we'll have each other and the hotel. Win-win. Heroine wants to buy a house in Hamptons because Atticus likes it there. HEA.

Note: both the H/h had sex with others in the ten years they were separated if that sort of thing bothers you. Hero grovels nicely for his sins several times in the story - so I ended up liking him.

Too paint by the number and phoned in for me to think of giving it three stars.

Chatsfield's Ultimate Acquisition is part of the Chatsfield series which I have not read.

Old lovers reunite as they now have to work together. She pines for him for a decade, A DECADE, while he has no problem going on with one shallow ONS after another. Okay, fine. After reading the book, still not why he is in love with her or vice versa.

Read it based on GR reviews as well as the first chapter sample which has a hysterical encounter with the heroine and her cat with a hair ball. It was downhill from there.

All I wanted to know was why Liliana the stepmother left her kids and where Gene stomped out to.

The glitz and glam of The Chatsfield returns and it's brought back to life by the wonderful Melanie Milburne.

Isabelle Harrington is furious when the arrogant playboy Spencer Chatsfield becomes her new boss. He is also the man who shattered her heart many years ago. Talk about things being awkward! And it was believe me it really was, I wanted to crawl up in a corner and hide for Isabelle's sake, especially when the overwhelming attraction she thought would be gone by now, flares up again with such intensity the pages nearly went up in flames.

After months of planning Spencer has come to his ultimate acquisition, the only thing standing in his way is Isabelle. He will have to seduce her into compliance. But Isabelle is keeping a secret and once revealed the stakes will be higher than ever before!

This was a book that shouted out romance from page one till the very beautiful end. I loved the fun and passionate fire between Spencer and Isabelle, think Bonnie and Clyde with a mix of Cleopatra and Mark Anthony , a volatile , dangerous mix with grace and honor. Absolutely remarkable!

What I loved most about this book was the adrenaline and excitement , Spencer going up against Isabelle, Isabelle going up against Spencer it was so electric and thrilling to read about these two characters going at each other in anger and rage but at the same time trying so desperately to fight the passion.

I highly recommend this read for anyone looking for a thrilling afternoon romance read.

WOW this is a story that has a real love hate relationship both Isabelle Harrington and Spencer Chatsfield have some things that they have stewed on for a while that they really need to get out of their system and get on with life and hopefully together.

Isabelle comes from a family that runs the Harrington Hotel in New York a famous boutique hotel an it means everything to Isabelle who now runs it she is known to be strong and a person who keeps to herself she pretty much has just had one man in her life and that was ten years ago and a relationship that she will never forget the memories will always be there and the consequences from that relationship and that was Spencer Chatsfield.

Spencer Is part of the hotel chain family The Chatsfields and is known as a playboy but Spencer has a lot on his mind and yes he acts that way but maybe that is not his true self and Isabelle was the only woman that he had spent more than a few nights with all those years ago and when their relationship ended badly he left it and got on with his life but then news later changes the way he thinks he has a lot to prove to his family and being CEO of The Chatsfield Hotel Chain is maybe the way to do it.

Now ten years later they are thrown together and Spencer is now Isabelle's boss and that spark is still there stronger than ever but it is probably more like hate than love but we all know how close those to emotions are. I loved this story as both Isabelle and Spencer start seducing each other for reasons they both think are valid and keep denying the love between them but when truths come out and the emotions are let go their HEA is just so great you will be smiling.

I loved this story it is so very sensual emotional and heart-warming to see two very strong people finally open up and give into those sparks that burn up the pages I highly recommend this one it really is one not to be missed.

This just wasn't my cuppa. I don't care for story lines when the H and h are separated for long years. It just loses credibility for the feelings between the two. It's also disturbing when a couple has been with other lovers. This was done mostly by the hero and quite often if I understand correctly. The way the past was revisited I would say that he was your typical man-whore and I'm just so tired of those.

There were things to like about this one, but also things I really didn't like. Spencer Chatsfield and Isabelle Harrington were lovers ten years ago, but it ended when Isabelle found out that she was the subject of a bet . Now, for reasons known only to her, Isabelle's step-mother, who seems to be Spencer's... aunt? (There's a family tree at the beginning, but I'm still semi-confused on how she was related to Spencer or what her motivations were) has given Spencer the critical 2% stock she owns, which gives him majority share in Isabelle's family's hotel. We are never told why the step-mother did this. My guess is she's just a heinous bitch.

Isabelle is, as you might imagine, pretty upset. She hates Spencer, for more reasons than just the bet, and doesn't want any part of him being her boss. Now I get why she dislikes him, I really do, but that being said, over the course of the book, Isabelle was pretty hard to like herself. Antagonistic, bitchy (often with little or no provocation), hateful... You sort of get the impression that she hates herself as much as she hates Spencer, an interesting character point, but one that was never fully explored. And I guess that was my issue with this book. There were several of these little dangling parts and some of them were pretty interesting, but given the restraints of a Harley, they were never really fleshed out like they should have been. I felt like one page had Spencer and Isabelle breathing fire at each other and the next page had them in love and I couldn't figure out how they'd had a chance to get to know each other or even like each other while seeing the other at their worst.

I had another issue with Isabelle and the ending.

Not sure I'd recommend this to anyone. I liked parts of it -- for example the fact that Isabelle didn't remain chaste after she and Spencer split the first time, which is pretty awesome, especially for a Harley. And that she used sex as a weapon just as much as he did. And the fact that he got quite a bit of his own medicine back with her. But it never felt all that romantic for me. It just felt like the author was hitting plot points and there wasn't much emotion, other than old anger, behind all of it. It definitely wasn't satisfying.

Isabelle Harrington is beyond mad when she's been passed over and not given the majority shares to the Harrington, her family's hotel. This would of enabled her to own and become the newly appointed CEO of Harrington's, a place she has made her home and worked blood sweat and tears for. Actually no, it makes her sad. What makes her mad is the fact her new boss is Spencer Chatsfield - breaker of hearts - hers in particular and if she could admit it she would... he's still the keeper of her heart!

Altho their past is ancient history they're still strongly linked by family connections which is wonderfully weaved quite brilliantly throughout the pages (and previous books) and quite the theme throughout Billionaire's Ultimate Acquisition. I really liked Spencer and Isabelle's original back story and I loved how although Isabelle is the epitome of decorum, it slips slightly when she organises Spencer's room (I really LOLed at that) and again in his office.

Spencer has a point to prove and his vision sees him determined to bring the hotel into the 21st century and make the Harrington become "the" place to stay. Isabelle is reluctant, she's wanting the more boutique top of the line very private and exclusive hotel. This is one of many things they clash over and you can't help but feel Isabelle's pain at wanting what she's only ever known and lived for. It doesn't take long for Spencer and Isabelle turn their warring into passion and it makes for brilliant reading. Things turn on their head when Spencer discovers a secret well hidden from the past. (this scene magical and tearful at the same time).

A beautiful and passionate story which features a lovable furball Atticus. Family connections run deep and the characters are portrayed perfectly. Isabelle's character is beautifully crafted by the author and Spencer is the perfect playboy. Although they are butting heads the author has convinced me early on these two belong together and their love/hate relationship is very emotionally passionate and fiery. The family history is beautifully rounded out to reach the conclusion and i absolutely LOVED how the ending tied it all together.

If you're familiar with the other stories in The Chatsfield Series 2 you'll love how with this story everything absolutely ties together. I sure did! My words do not describe this story with the justice it deserves; I felt completely captured by the story, I felt it was a tale only someone of Melanie Milburne's caliber could write and I was sad to reach the end of the book and the series.

Sorry, but this was too cold, too vicious and too unlikeable. The hero was interesting and engaging. The heroine was the bitch from hell. So utterly unromantic - not what I want from Mills and Boon.

I am fed up with series like Chatsfield, which leave so much unanswered. Liliana’s departure from the Chatsfield family has featured in several of the books with none of the questions adequately answered. In this one, Liliana is Isabelle Harrington’s step mother and she offers her shares to Spencer and then promptly disappears never to be seen again. What?

I did not enjoy this one. Isabelle was a horror. The story was not enjoyable and romantic I’m afraid. Far too much anger, aggression, viciousness and unpleasantness from the heroine. Not to mention that she’s also behaving most of the time in the most unprofessional, emotional, stupid way that in real life she would never have done for fear of anyone seeing how much she cared and how badly her behaviour would have reflected on her personal reputation. Decorating his room with sex toys etc was a perfect example of this unbelievably stupid behaviour.

Spencer was in contrast, a rather nice guy and I found it difficult to understand why he would love her.

All the compromising, all the gestures of good faith come from the hero Spencer. His internal monologues illustrate a much nicer person than Isabelle. She just comes across as an unpleasant bitch. Even with the backstory - I found it difficult to sympathise with her or understand why she hated him so much - 10 years later!

Chatsfield Ultimate Acquisition by Melanie Milburne is intense, provocative and dramatic. I couldn’t put it down once I began Spencer and Isabelle’s angsty journey to attaining their fulfilling HEA. Once again, Ms. Milburne has created yet another incredible story!

Isabelle Harrington is steaming over the fact that Spencer Chatsfield has received votes for stock in her hotel. She is even madder because of the way he treated her in the past. Breaking her heart and all... Could she ever forgive him? On the other hand, Spencer has reasons for his actions. He needs to prove his worth to his family. But could he afford the beautiful distraction in the form of Isabelle? One thing is certain of though. Their chemistry is hot as ever before. But what happens when he finds out Isabelle's little secret?

"Chatsfield's Ultimate Acquisition" by Melanie Milburne is the continuing story of the "Chatsfield' series. This book can be a read alone or as part of the series.

In this story we meet Isabelle Harrington and Spencer Chatsfield. No love is lost between these two. They were lovers in the past and it did not end well. They've been vying for the most shares in the Harrington Hotel NY. When Isabelle's stepmother gives Spencer her two shares it puts him as a majority stockholder. The only stipulation is that Isabelle stays on in her position.

The past has a way of coming between these two. There are issues that need to be dealt with from their relationship in the past in order to move on to the future. This is a quick read, full of twists.

I enjoyed this story. Spencer and Isabelle met when they were in college but because of misunderstanding they broke up. Isabelle was the only woman that Spencer ever allowed in but he never wanted to put a name to what he felt. He was just too young. Now he's back and has controlling interest in her family hotel. But she hates him. The attraction that the two felt in the beginning is still burning hot. How can they work together when all he wants to do is kiss her. He may be the boss now but she has a secret that just might get her hotel back. Will Spencer get what he wants (Her and only Her).

It is a 4.5

Spencer and Isabelle are not strangers. They have shared something very special though Spencer is unaware and Isabelle reluctant to tell him.

With sparks between them arcing as strong as they were a decade ago, both of them keep themselves on a leash as circumstances dictate so. They are no more lovers but rivals. Standing in each other's way of realising their dreams.

Will the love they still feel harness their goals to a single post? Anything could happen! ;)

Wow what an imagination this author has. The sex scenes had me giggling and my husband looking sideways at me and frowning. Well worth the read. I was so glad that Spencer finally found out the secret and his reaction was wonderful.

Spencer comes off as a complete prat to start with. Isabelle comes off as a grumpy workaholic (which she is). As the story progresses, we find out more about why they are the way they are. Hot chemistry between these two from the get-go, and a history that makes life a lot more complicated than it could have been.
A couple of dodgy and hot as hell scenes. Great read, nice ending.
Really loved the character growth of Spencer.

Another Melanie Milburne heart achingly beautiful and emotional read, I love love love her writing so so much!

Isabelle Harrington has immersed her entire life into the running of the Harrington Hotel and very seriously expects her step mother Liliana Chatsfield to hand her the two shares she needs to be the majority shareholder. The shock that comes with learning the two shares are given to Spencer Chatsfield is just heart-breakingly devastating to Isabelle. Spencer is given the shares on the proviso that Isabelle remains in the manager but Spencer is the president. Essentially Isabelle not only feels let down, betrayed and completely rejected by Liliana's actions she's mortified her one and only true love of 10 years ago is now her boss.

With that setup the perfect story unfolds full of what I love best; emotion, feelings being opened that have been long buried, two souls battling against the world and love, family loyalties tested and such delicious writing you read it more than once (which i have).

However once Spencer and Isabelle agree to disagree about the past and tentatively step forward into a "relationship" (you'll know why i emphasise that when you read the story), Isabelle is faced with the harrowing decision to open up to Spencer about what happened after they broke up in the first place.

I so love the ability MM has to come up with unique characters and stories which sweep me far far away and which leave me happily sad to close the last page. I am honored to no only receive an ARC but I am also honoured to add this to my existing Chatsfield novels. It can be read as a stand alone and 100% enjoyed or it can be thoroughly enjoyed as another chapter among the Chatsfield series, of which this is part of the second series.

Chatsfield's Ultimate Acquisition by Melanie Milburne
This story is between Isabelle Harrington and Spencer Chatsfield. Isabelle comes from a family that runs the Harrington Hotel in New York which is a famous boutique hotel. Isabelle and Spencer had a past relationship 10 years ago and she had not seen him since. The past relationship ended badly, and later Isabelle realized she was pregnant and approximately at 4 months she miscarried. However she did not tell Spencer. She never forgot the memories and the baby.
Isabelle threw herself into running the hotel and making it the best hotel ever. She is known as being strong and keeps to herself. She had an apartment in the hotel and she kept her cat, Atticus who is a blue-grey Persian cat.
Spencer Chatsfield is part of the Chatsfield’s who also has a hotel and is known as a playboy. He acts this way because he has a lot on his mind and Isabelle is the only woman that he has spent more than a few nights with all those years ago. He feels he has a lot to prove to the family.
Isabelle had 49% of the hotel and at some point in the past 10 years Spencer has managed to acquire the 49%. Isabelle’s step mother held the other 2% which she turned over to Spencer. Which means that now Spencer is now Isabelle’s boss?
Sparks flew between Spencer and Isabelle. The story was revealed to Spencer about the baby, and the two keep fighting what is really between them. You will have to read the book to find out if the fight continues or if they finally decide that they are to be together.

The final book in the continuing story of the Chatfield's but can be read alone. Isabelle Harrington wants to be in charge of her family hotel but she doesn't have the controlling share Spencer Chatfield, her ex lover gets them. The problem is they had been lovers in the past but now are up against each other. Its a hot read and a wonderful end to the continuity, Ms. Milburne is an amazing writer who constantly delivers such a wonderful story and this one is an example. She brings two ex lovers who have had past relationships in the 10 years since they parted , back together in an amazing story even though so many things happened in those years she was able to have them feel as they did and yet give a wow ending. I was given this book for an honest review and I have to say there is no way she can write a book that isn't everything a romance reader wants. thank you Melanie I loved it

Isabelle Harrington is finally forced to deal with the past love she can’t seem to leave behind. Although not easy because of the way he treated her in the past. But she can not deny the intense attraction. Spencer Chatfield cannot afford to have the distraction that she brings to the office. Their sparks cannot be denied. Chatsfield Ultimate Acquisition by Melanie Milburne is intense, sensual, emotional, once both Isabelle and Spencer start seducing each other, they realize there is true love, they cannot stop. A great read that one cannot put down.

Melanie Milburne has given us another enjoyable read in the Chatsfield continuity with this reunion romance! Isabelle Harrington, thinking she would be the one in charge of her family hotel, is furious when she learns her ex-lover from ten years ago, Spencer Chatsfield gets the controlling shares instead. Forced to work together, they must resolve their issues from the past which go far beyond giving into their blazing attraction for each other in order to get their happy ever after.

I really enjoyed this book. Isabelle Harrington and Spencer Chatsfield are both fighting for shares for the Harrington Hotel. Isabelle has spent her life working there. Spencer wants it to prove something to his family, and to himself. They has a fling 10 years ago. This was a love, hate relationship. Fire, and ice. I found this story endearing, and emotional. It turned out to be a sweet love story.
